• Burdon (1/5): Worst castle ever - Bed was comfy No door on the ensuit and no curtain on the window in the bathroom making sleeping in nearly impossible. There was nobody on site, unkept grounds, sticks everywhere and spiders everywhere. False advertising, there was no sauna no spa retreat and no 2 course breakfast. Breakfast was a $50 voucher for a dodgy Cafe down the road which didnt even cover 2 meals and 2 coffee's. Place is a joke

• Ashton (9/5): Peaceful and comfortable stay - One of the most magical stays in the SE QLD region. Castle on Tambourine is everything you expect it to be and more. Spacious accommodation, quiet, tranquil, amazing room fitouts, comfy bed and all the amenities you desire, including a Spa that feels like Ancient Rome. Photos don’t do this place justice, it is a peaceful paradise with cute roaming peahens. The value for money is incredible compared to anywhere else! The breakfast is vouchers to local cafes which were delightful. Don’t expect a sleep in, no blinds in the bathroom or door for the bathroom means sun up wake up. But it is nice if you want to get up early to take advantage of the day. The Projector also doesn’t provide the best picture and can only really be used at night due to glare! The Key Panel for entering the property also requires you to hop in and out of the car, during the pouring rain it’s less than ideal.

• Darren (10/5): When looking for a place to propose I came across The Castle on Tambourine and instantly felt like it was the perfect pl - Love everything about the place, the location, the beautiful grounds and tranquil surroundings,whole medieval castle theme of the place, the interior decor that’s both modern and homely but has this feel of old Victorian royalty , the heated plunge pool, spacious spa bath, the comfy bed, the list goes on. Only thing I could say if I really had to think about it is it could probably use a touch up of paint here and there, though it isn’t that obvious

We made the mistake not to call to see if the breakfast spots were open on the days we thought we'd use the vouchers for them so we missed out on one by assuming it would be open.

• Kerryne (7/5): The place is cool, it’s unique but will be a one off stay for us - It was unique, the indoor plunge pool was a cool feature. The bed was comfortable. It was a bit dusty so it set off our allergies shortly after arriving. We spent the night in on Saturday to watch a movie and sit by the fireplace and the projector kept freezing every 20 mins or so which was a bit of a pain. For the price paid expectations were pretty high but sadly weren’t met.

It was fantastic the first day, temperature was perfect but the 2 occasions we tried using it after that it felt at least 4 degrees cooler which. Made it too uncomfortable to use.

Double shower has no water pressure without even using both shower heads, upstairs balcony unable to be enjoyed due to being covered in cobwebs, spiders and leaves

• Waylon (6/5): Pleasant - Good location. The private plunge pool was nice, though it would have been better if you could change the water temperature. Very outdated and overpriced. No oven in the kitchen, as well as a lack of cooking supplies. No washing or drying machine in the room.
• Chrisegan (10/5): Weekend away with the wife - We stayed in one of the castle apartments over the Easter weekend, I could not fault it, the host checked with us to our arrival time and because we were on the mountain early he met us outside with some vouchers for free wine and liqueur tasting. We got into our apartment for the scheduled time to find a bottle of sparkling wine and chocolates. Over the next couple of days we enjoyed the private plunge pool in the apartment, the sunken spa bath, the cinema projector in the lounge room. We enjoyed a glass on the balcony and in the grounds. Couldn't fault it the perfect couples weekend away retreat.

• Stephen (1/5): Very disappointed - I left a note expressing my concerns on Sunday when I checked out complaining and asking for a parti - Location, I am a return customer of Lisson Grove There was an electrical fault in the evening, 8pm We had to cook a meal in the dark for two nights as we could only use table lamps, it was obviously very inconvenient not to have any lights for two nights. Then At 2AM a loud smoke alarm went off above our bed, and again at approximately 3am; there was no smoke… it was terrible For 600 a night it was a very poor experience, the property needs electrical maintenance

The host did everything i - The unique experience of being able to stay in a castle made us feel like a king and queen. How often can one say “I’ve slept in a castle”? Exactly! The private plunge pool was exceptional. The decor was awesome. The whole place just felt magical. The host was amazing and helpful. Gave us recommendations on where to eat, even planned out a day trip for us which we actually followed, and it was extremely entertaining. This is not applicable! We loved it.

From the moment we arrived, our host, Nick was very welcoming and thoroughly explained everything we needed to know about the facilities as well as the region in general, like best places to dine out, best experiences up the mountain, etc. It truly was a very relaxing long weekend!!! We Liked it all!! We were looking for a place that could give us the chance to relax and stay indoors as much as possible. The plunge indoor swimming pool was such an incredible addition as were the dual hot tub and showers. We also had our own cinema projector with a comfortable lounge and the fireplace as a bonus ! Being welcomed with a lovely bottle of champagne and chocolates was a lovely gesture by the hosts!

• Belle (10/5): Amazing Experience - Absolutely beautiful - Nick was a great help in ensuring my partner's 30th birthday was the best one yet by booking a couples massage and sorting our breakfasts for the weekend as the in-house breakfasts were unavailable. The view of the Castle itself is gorgeous and there were a bunch of cute guineafowl around that added to the royal ambience. I loved the heated private plunge pool and having our own personal drawbridge - would definitely recommend this place!

• Jordan (8/5): We had a lovely stay, but I feel they could modernise the place a bit, ie. smart tv to replace projector system, new til - Great spa bath, nice touch to have the plunge pool too and log burning fire too! The chocolates and bottle of sparkling were a lovely surprise and the fridge/mini bar was well stocked and reasonably priced. So nice to be left a full bottle of fresh milk instead of the little long life capsules so often found in accommodation these days. Lovely and spacious and very comfortable. Could have been a bit cleaner as there were lots of dead insects and flies lying around and surfaces were dusty. For a five star place, the tiles on the water feature of the plunge pool should be fixed as there were some missing which made it look old. The projector tv, whilst large, is dated, poor quality colour and temperamental to use.
• Zayd (10/5): Phenomenal and fun - The photos and other reviews don’t do this place Justice. If you’re thinking of booking here just do it! no hesitation. I was at first concerned that it may look a bit tacky or over the top. It honestly was such a luxurious stay, and the owner and team were exceptionally hospitable! the Pool is beautiful heated and comfy, let the fountain run for a time to get it nice and warm. the bath is superb, the showers are luxurious and and the slight golden finish on everything does actually add a nice flair to the place. Not much to say isn’t likeable. the only thing is that the TV controls were really confusing and it didn’t work very well and often froze.

The listing says "The Castle features 2 wings, separated by a day spa which offers a sauna" but this was "closed for renovations". The plunge pool was cold. The "included breakfast" was actually a couple of $50 vouchers towards breakfast at nearby cafes. These cafes were very nice but $50 doesn't cover full breakfast with coffee and when paying over $550/night for a romantic getaway I expect the breakfast to be onsite and the advertised spa facilities to be open. I would've preferred a quality breakfast hamper instead of under-priced café vouchers.

The staff were very helpful and even booked our massage for us at an off site day spa as the one at the castle was closed. The photos on the website don’t disappoint, it looks exactly the same. We would highly recommend staying at the castle. Thanks for having us!
• Qingqing (10/5): Nice stay and the castle owner is soo nice - The in-room pool is realy cool and everything is perfect. The first night, there was something wrong with smoke alarm. Next day the owner fixed it quickly. The breaky is really nice and it is a lot! Also we can use the projecter to play movie in room. We love this castle!
• Scott (10/5): AMAZING GET AWAY - It was amazing place for a couples get away, We arrived late and Cheryl the owner waited for us to arrive and even had the Heating going in our castle room for comfort. The Breakfasts again simply amazing and the fact they called us each morning to be sure we were ready for it prior to bringing it down tot he room and setting up the table. Then there was the day Spa well we highly recommend using this facility as it is just next door to the room and a real treat to relax and then return to your room without traveling or walking far. All in All great place and we will be back

We had planned to go out in the evening for a few hours but found we just wanted to stay in. The set up was warm, comfortable and special, with a private indoor pool, home theatre , deep spa bath , and the open fire, just bliss.
• Roadtraveller (8/5): Lovely place to stay at. Highly recommended - - They were undergoing renovations at the time to get the day spa so it was a bit unfortunate we missed out on it. But they gave a voucher for an extra nights stay free after our next stay which was lovely of them. The indoor pool wasnt heated - as Im assuming that the heater element outside was broken. Unfortunately for us it was too cold to use the indoor pool at the time and that was our only disappointment. Beautiful location and awesome breakfast. Loved it. The facitlities in there were lovely.. although the TV unit was a bit of a confusing part.. but once we got the hang of it it wasnt too bad.. The bedroom could use with a draw curtain to prevent the bathroom light from coming in.. I was awake at 530 am due to the bathroom lighting coming into the bedroom. Beautiful place.. highly recommended.
