Guest Reviews
- Caressa (6/5): - The floor looked half vacuum and we found KFC chicken in the draw, when I told the lady she said very sorry how about we just say it's a mistake, I know for a fact that if it was any other motel they would came and looked, offered something or gave back part of the fee it wasn't the greatest but it wasn't the worse I've stayed in... It really wasn't nice to open to and pay a extra $100 on top. Which it was a bond. The rules are Abit extreme too but hey maybe they have had people come in and wreck things. It's a average all around from us.
- Thomas (10/5): - This Motel is old.
- Ayush (8/5): - Highly recommended
- Tina (10/5): - Awesome
- Malcolm (10/5): - Great value for money
- Will (8/5): - great staff facility good
- Tajinderbir Singh (10/5): - Good
- Shazmeen (10/5): - Service
- Shazmeen (10/5): - Well serviced motel
- Jascinta (6/5): - The kids and I enjoyed our over night stay ,the neighbours were a little on the Noisy side but once quite we were able to sleep.
If you could please include the Bond for cleaning in online payment option that would also be helpful as I was a little short upfront at reception but paid $100 which seems fair
This might help other families too in future bookings with you guys cheers
- Alden , nadea (4/5): - No duvet cover
Could do with the paint job
- Colleen (2/5): - Like every other review, which i wish i had read, this motel is awful. So depressingly awful. I have stayed at better accommodation in poor, third world countries. Do not stay here.
- Paula Maudie (10/5): - easy access to everything, dining options and clothes shopping great.
- Alan (8/5): - Good value...did what it said on the tin
- Verified traveler (2/5): Taupo stay - Service at the check in was fine. Walking into the rooms but smelt like cat has pissed on the carpet, so had to open up windowsbto ait place out. The place was overall tidy. Disappointed with the quality of beds and blankets provided. No fire alarm or heater in rooms. The motel is in a great location. Photos from advertising were misleading. Its a shame we didnt feel comfortable with our stay.
- KERRI (2/5): - It old and cold. Run down. Nothing like in the pictures. Only 1 light blanket on the beds
- Sergio (4/5): - Needs renovation
- Verified traveler (2/5): - I didn't like anything about this property. The picture shown is nothing like the room I was given. I was travelling solo and I was given a room that slept 5. The room was filthy and very uninviting. They are certainly not cleaning to a covid19 standard if in fact they are cleaning at all. The heater had been sat on and was caved in on the top. The TV remote fell apart into 3 pieces. The net curtains by the door were shredded. The drapes didn't fit the windows. The cutlery had dried food on it. The venetian blind on the front door hang with a gap at the side so privacy was an issue and it let the very bright light from the outside light in. The room smelt awful. The fire escape stairs were blocked by overgrown plants and rubbish. This was the most expensive motel on my 5 day trip and the worst I have ever stayed in. I will never book this motel again!
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Old and in need of a complete renovation.
Furniture was old and worn out (covered by old bedding sheets) electric socket hanging out of the wall (held in with sellotape), no hot water in the kitchen, microwave was digusting - paint peeling off and covered in rust, no door on the toilet, bedroom door didn't fit so wouldn't close.
Heating was not would be expected in motels.
DEFINITELY NOT UPTO STANDARD OF MOTELS OF SIMILAR COST MOTELS.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I had a late check in but the staff made it super easy, the beds were super comfy
- Verified traveler (4/5): - No milk or creamer in the room. Only one small heater worked. No extra blankets are available. The curtain in the room riped and not heamed . Very rough.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - I liked that the property was so close to town. I did not like the outside light which you cannot turn of shining in throgh the door all night. I did not like that there were no extra blankets or pillows. Yes I did ask for an extra blanket which took over 20 minutes to arrive.
- Verified traveler (6/5): vernighter - Roomy &handy to town but bit tired and needs facelift
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The playground in the back was great for kids.
Nice and close to city centre but quiet.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - This was a last minute family holiday and we decided to book this accommodation because we had a group. I will not recommend or ever stay at this property as it is so run down, dirty, was advertised for 3 rooms but there was 2 rooms and one bed downstairs in the lounge. The fridge was so old as well. This place truly needs a renovation.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - This place was disgusting!!! $322 a night. It stunk and was dirty. The owner was rude and obnoxious
- Verified traveler (6/5): - It was great to have the room ready and a text in advance for instructions as accommodation was required on a public holiday...
I was not impressed with the puddle on the kitchen floor and the damp carpet after a previous occupier had turned off the fridge, causing the freezer part to defrost and the fridge to leak... Also, the curtains were thin/not covering the windows well to stop the outside security light from pouring in overnight... With the setup of the room, it made for a restless night's sleep...
- Peterus (6/5): - thought room was on ground floor and bed room up stairs but all on first floor disappointed toilet seat broken and bathroom slider draw also broken.
good location in central town area
- Fredrik (8/5): Thanks - Very nice reception when we arrived. Beds were - very subjectivity - a little too soft. But nice and clean overall.
- Ariel (4/5): Dusty - Dusty. All of us in the family sneezing through out our stay because of dust I believe.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - It was central to most things in taupo. City central.
Host was nice however guest at motel were drinking, very loud. Aside from that. Basic motel.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Property was nice enough but wasn’t worth the price it was. Staff at check in were lovely and very welcoming
- Sharon (10/5): - It was really nice and a perfect place for family. They have a very clean and tidy rooms and bathroom.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Not much to like here curtains to small for windows tape fixing stuff no soap toilet paper. I had to wake up owners when someones fire alarm was going 30min at 2sm
- Sarah (8/5): - Great location, excellent service. Bed was quite hard, and we only had 3 seats for the dining area when we needed 4.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Limited and broken items in room
Could be better with a little more care
- Verified traveler (6/5): - I paid just under NZD77 and reckon 10 dollars less should be more reasonable.
Good: central location without being noisy, 5 mins walk form supermarket. spacious room. has pretty much everything you need to cook. Nice & clean even though the property is pretty old.
Not so good. The tiny heater just not enough for this room. It was freezing cold in winter! The deadlock on the door was broken. The "clean" dishes weren't really clean but it probably had to do with the previous occupants who actaly did the clean up.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The motel is within close walking distance of a large supermarket, and easy walking distance of town. It is an older style of motel, but was clean, comfortable, and had everything one would expect.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - All the service is very good and place is nice and tidy so I like it
- Nick (2/5): - Dirty, old, broken, ants everywhere, terrible beds, poorly lit. Incredibly hard to believe that this place has a 3 star rating. Definitely overpriced. The only thing we liked about it was that we only booked one night so we got to leave after a short time. Would not recommend this place at all.
- Don (10/5): Great for a last minute booking - Great place to stay off the main road but easy access to town for shopping etc.Spacious studio with all the amenities.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The property was very dated! Smoke alarm had no batteries and was sitting on top of a cupboard. Electric blankets had bare cables and heating was poor.
- Sweathog (6/5): - Unfortunately the condition of the room was disappointing; alot of the lights did not work and most of the power points also did not work. We also had to go and get towels and toilet paper from reception.
The location is great and the price was pretty good. The room certainly did fit a family of 5 easily but was let down by the overall condition of the facilities.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Very cold hotel and smelt like smoke was disgusting, photos looks better then the actual hotel
- Jason (10/5): Great Stay - Clean tidy and friendly staff. Well priced as well.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - There was no hot water in the morning so couldn’t shower or warm up on a -3 morning.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - was close to town.
was private
was cheap
Had a cool massive treehouse style thing out back
- Verified traveler (6/5): - I didnt like all the rules listed on the wall. Plasic mattress protector on the queen size bed. Nowhere to put our bags were told not to touch the spare beds.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The kitchen lacked some of the basics-can opener, the dishes were chipped & had to be rinsed before using , microwave was dirty & cooking utensils in the drawer had to be washed clean before using. The frying pan had rust in it, had to wash & oil before using. An electrical cord to an electric blanket was taped with grey duck tape. Decor was very dated. The cost was very reasonable and after staying there I can underatand why.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Room is old but freshly painted. Furnishings are old but functional. For the price its ok.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - This property was ok. It was close enough to most things we wanted to do. The water in the shower took forever to get hot and then we had trouble getting the right temperature. It would go extremely hot and then extremely cold with the smallest movement.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The room only had thin white Venetian blinds and I went back to reception and asked for a room with curtains as I knew it would be a problem. She said no and told me how to close the blinds. (I knew how to close blinds!) The front window let the light in ALL NIGHT from the hotel sign and street lights, and the back window let in the dawn light. Not what I wanted while on holiday.
- Jonathan (8/5): Good - Satisfied, booked last minute.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The property is for a family of 5 but was described for 2 people which was misleading. It was very basic.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Room was okay with all stuff you need, service great, but the hotel are located within an industrial area. A little bit noisy !
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Nice stay with the kids, everything we needed for our night stay.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Close to town, very little road noise, but very run down
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Nice motel, staff were not that nice had a few issues saying I could not use the wardrobe at first, but then they came back and retracted and said I could use the wardrobe, not happy about that.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Please skip this property. - The property was ok however the attitude of the owner was not acceptable. Not recommending this property to anyone and not going back.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - A few things missing .. no plug for sink makes it hard to wash yr dishes which they ask u 2 .. curtains wld b nice as those blinds weren't enough ... but clean & tidy room
- x-hands (6/5): - good location for the golf, it was a room for the night
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice Hotel close do everything. - We always like to stay in a motel that is central to what's happening. Barcelona motel ticks all the boxes. Extremely friendly staff. Will definitely come back.
- Peter (8/5): - Friendly staff. Room was spacious and very tidy. Had everything I needed and price was very reasonable. Would definitely stay again.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Reception was lovely old motel with basic requirements.
- Verified traveler (4/5): UNCOMFORTABLE BED - Our experience was OK for what we paid for, disappointed in the bed, was very uncomfortable.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good stay in the villa - The villa in a two-story house. Our kids were enjoyed to stay there.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Disgraceful and Disappointing - Absolutely disgusting motel. Our usual hotel was fully booked so the family stayed here for 2 nights using the motel as a base. Big mistake, won’t be back here ever. For the price tag we paid for 2 x two bedroom units, we weren’t expecting the worst customer experience of our lives. Absolutely no customer service. Staff were very unfriendly and quite intimidating. Tone of voice used when we complained about the microwave was faulty was very intimidating and the staff came across as trying to bully us. The power points kept tripping and there was only one power point in the kitchen. Every time you wanted to use the electric kettle, or toaster or microwave you had to keep taking plugs out and plugging in.
Nothing provided (no milk in fridge, no toiletries). Soap dispenser in the shower which was labelled as body and hair wash.
Obviously has not been updated since the 70’s. Fittings were old. Freezing cold inside and one heater in the room which was not effective at all. Had to sleep with layers of clothes to stay warm. The pillows were hard as brick and we ended up using our thick jackets and the cushion as pillows. The kitchen floor was filthy. Obviously vacuming the floor but not actually mopping it. The place could do with an improvement to cleanliness.
This Motel has huge potential but it needs an owner who wants to provide a good standard of service.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great location - We enjoyed walks to the lake, eating in the town and the convenient shopping.
- John (10/5): Recommended. - Very warm welcome, and had everything I wanted. I could also see lots of space outside at the back for children to play and run around. When I arrived the host knew I was coming, called me by name and had turned the heater and the electric blanket on as it had turned suddenly cold. He also gave me discount vouchers for the local hot pools.
- Shane (10/5): Great value. Would stay there again - Good location, great value, mattresses are a bit tired, spacious room. I chose a two bedroom unit with 1 king bed and two twin beds. Only disappointment was that after staying there for three nights, I asked if I could check out an hour later and was declined. Generally hotels are more relaxed with this
- Verified traveler (10/5): - enjoyed our stay, would reccomend to friends and family..good location..
- Verified traveler (8/5): basic, clean, tidy and reasonably priced - easy to find, handy to central town, basic but good enough
- Bhavik (8/5): walking to lake , super market , store , cafe - the guy at desk is wonderful and helpful , complimentary arrival milk and newspaper . there is kitchen stove in the room good for the family with kidz on holidays
- Verified traveler (8/5): Handy location to town - The motel was clean and tidy had recently been repainted which made it more refreshing.
We assumed that they still had sky TV but unfortunately they didn't :(
Could hear some noise from main road but wasn't an issue
- Adrian (6/5): Central position - Very nice location, central, close to all the good cafes and restaurants.
The room, though, is very small, you have no room for nothing. Just come and jump to bed.
It is very clean and it has parking for the cars.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Clean and comfortable - Loved staying here, our room was so clean and comfortable. Close to town. Staff very friendly, will definitely stay again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Comfortable beds and great price - Only there one night, but will book in for the return trip
- Dave (8/5): - Great facility, spacious and well apoointed.
Great value for money 😊
- Mat (8/5): Comfortable Motel with a super friendly owner. - The motel is very well positioned centrally to the township. Easy walking to all areas of town.
While it's a little older it is exactly as I would expect from a motel of this age and price. The owner was very friendly and helpful and the room and bed very tidy and clean. Overall I was quite happy with this accommodation.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Liked everything about the hotel. - Fantastic.....have no words to express my feelings. Experience was fabulous. Everything was perfect.
- Ed (4/5): Disappointing - Looks different to the picture advertised room was old and dated no air conditioning or fans bed was uncomfortable would not stay there again.
- Richard (4/5): I didn't expect to be the cleaner - For the price, You would expect the motel to be very basic, a little dated and worse for wear...but you wouldn't expect to have to clean it yourself!
The stove top was greasy and dirty, the kitchen floor was greasy from oil spatter from cooking on the stove.
The cups and other dishes were absolutely filthy and needed to be washed before use.
There were stains on the covers over the bed bases.
Honestly it looked to me as if the only cleaning they'd done between customers was change the bedding (or possibly just made the beds?)
The mattresses felt old and too soft...I felt like the frankfurter in an American Hotdog.
The water pressure in the shower was dismal.
The most luxurious thing about this place was the toilet paper...lovely 3 ply bog paper to spruce up an otherwise thoroughly disappointing experience. My recommendation is cutting the poo paper budget and hiring a cleaner.
On a brighter note, the pacific island guy at the front desk was really nice and friendly, I'd suggest he find another job at a place that is up to the standard that he is. Well done mate.
Overall score = SAD FACE.
- Ged (8/5): Economical Accomodation - If you are looking for a economical Motel that is clean and tidy with friendly staff then this is a good choice.
- Grandma (8/5): Big Bang for Buck - Just stayed one night with 2 six year olds. Plenty of room space, comfortable beds and although the room was a bit dated it was spotlessly clean.
I believe new owner just taken over and can see the effort being put in to improve the facility. All in all would recommend and stay again.
- Wirawan (6/5): Hotel rate too expensive - Enjoyable hotel with good staffs, however the internet and facilities should be improved
- christin (10/5): New owner was so friendly. - Very comfortable and spacious. Excellent value.
The new owner was very friendly and helpful.
Great value.
- Fiona (8/5): - Nice and friendly staff, great location close to all amenities, would stay there again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice Motel at the centre of Taupo. - Everything great. Close to the lake and Restaurants and shops.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Staff were excellent. Very friendly and incredibly helpful.
- Wayne (8/5): 1 night stay - Great location as attending function at cosmopolitan club on same street no issues clean room nice staff, facilities little bit dated
- rick (4/5): Hmmmmm - Asked for early check in, manager didn't notice comments on booking.
Filthy
Hooker central.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Location is convenient & the staff is helpful. A warm stay at this motel.
- chris (6/5): - Room was clean but bed double bed was very uncomfortable, shower slightly floods floor from seeping out the curtain etc annoying having to listen to every move the people upstairs made not sound proof at all
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Staff were not very helpful on the front counter.. I had booked an extra bed they declined to know anything about the request. Then required extra funds to funish bed. Nothing was advertised or noted that an extra charge was necessary.
- junior (4/5): - Need alot work to be done to bring this hotel to internatinal standard .the price doesnt match the standard of this hotel .
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great place to stay apart from the smell - Room was fantastic lots of space, kitchen, shower, toilet all good. Room was clean however there was a very strong curry smell in our room (I'm guessing from previous tenants) we had to purchase scented candles to even tolerate the smell.
- Handsome (4/5): Very central - that’s about it - Not ideal. We were in Taupo on a very busy weekend for a sports tournament.
Motel fully occupied, which allowed for all of its flaws to be exposed.
Noise through the walls & ceiling. Hot water supply hit and miss (shower alternating between freezing and scalding).
Beds uncomfortable. Decor was very interesting. Although it did appear to be freshly painted.
Not on my recommended list.
It wasn’t even that cheap!!
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Accommodation was adequate. Bedrooms were cramped with double and single bed in each. Kitchen facilities were minimal.
- Lynne (10/5): Great price in Taupo. - Staff were very friendly. The size of the room was great for a family. Very comfy beds and couch. Kitchen facilities great to cook a meal. Bathroom clean. Price was great.
- Joed (10/5): Nice comfortable bed. - All is good. Motel stay was well worth the check in price. I would only suggest that you guys have a shower with glass on it instead of a curtain. But all in all i'd give 4 out of 5.
