EHB61 (10/5): One of the best hotels anywhere! - This place has unbelievably good service. Paolo, the concierge is very friendly and helpful. In the restaurant, they remembered the type of coffee we like for breakfast. When I returned from a run in the 85 degree heat they brought out a tray with a face cloth and poured scented ice water over it for me, and gave me a bottle of cold water. Quite a decadent surprise! They have a pillow menu. The place really pays attention to details.

From the people at the concierge such as Yanelis and the whole staff, to the people in the restaurant like Miguel which served us lunch, they were very hospitable, nice, and welcoming. The hotel's food, rooms, and location were also 10/10. I hope to stay there again.

839arielh (10/5): A Destination in Its Own Right: Hotel Casa San Agustín - There are certain hotels that feel like destinations in their own right, and Hotel Casa San Agustín is undoubtedly one of them. The property’s rich history is woven into every detail, from its uniquely designed rooms to the maze-like layout that invites you to wander and discover something beautiful around every corner. The courtyard and pool area alone are breathtaking. The culinary experience is equally exceptional. Breakfast, included with the stay, is truly outstanding, and the coconut dessert at dinner is not to be missed. Two experiences stand out as absolute musts: the spa, where I had one of the best massages of my life, and the opportunity to spend time at the Acasí property. Having what felt like a private beach for 24 hours was nothing short of magical. What truly elevates this hotel, however, are the thoughtful touches and the people. From nightly homemade treats and rotating breads at breakfast to small gestures like shopping cards, every detail feels intentional. The front desk team, Andrew, Yanelis, Katherine, and Jaime, were consistently attentive and welcoming. A particularly special thank you goes to Yeinty, who took care of us each morning at breakfast. Her warmth made us feel less like guests and more like friends. Thank you to the entire Hotel Casa San Agustín. We will be back soon!

The staff is exceptional, the rooms very large, especially by Cartagena standards, and the bed was incredibly comfortable. The welcome drink was delicious as well! The scent that they use in the rooms is particularly tasteful as well.

We had asked our laundry to be done. They made sure that to get to a place that is very affordable and made the process so nice and simple. Breakfast was delicious daily. They accomadated us with our vegetarian diets very well. It is a small boutique hotel with fantastic location and great staff!!

BBVeniceFL (10/5): Genuine Hospitality at Its Best! - This property is ideally located in the heart of the walled city, so it's a great base to explore the city. Once you enter the gates, it's a quiet, comfortable refuge from the busy streets of the Old Town. The rooms are large, clean, and comfortable. Although the rooms are decorated in a colonial style, every modern convenience is included. The service is among the best I've encountered anywhere in the world. The entire staff is genuinely excited to host you. Amanda, one of the bartenders is an example of this. She took great pride in hosting us and sharing her knowledge of Colombia and the locally produced spirits. We had a very enjoyable stay and will be back again...this was our second stay at this property.
Stonepink (8/5): Lovely stay in Cartagena - Front Desk: Andrew at the front desk is incredibly helpful and informative! He helped us organize an amazing boat day to the Rosario Islands. Room: We had a room with private plunge pool. The room was small but lovely. We slept very well. The private pool was nice to come back to each day although there is no real sun there to experience due to the high walls. Food: The food at the Alma restaurant on site is fair but the drinks and bartenders are exceptional. The breakfast food is far better than the meals at dinner. We loved the restaurant Mar y Zielo. Cande was so fun! Great music, dancers and awesome food. Don Diablo/Carmen restaurant was fair. Not as good as Carmen Medellin. The restaurant at their sister hotel was great for lunch! Location: The location in the center of the walled city is perfect. We did both suggested walks early in the day before the heat took hold. They offer bikes but we did not take advantage. The pool area is small. The area around the hotel has great shops and is very safe. Note that you may be offered cocaine by a variety of code names many times by people on the street.

The artistic design of the common spaces and rooms were stunning, and worth every penny. There was not one detail excluded from this experience and the service anticipated every need and want we had. We travel a lot and this hotel tops our list for the perfect mix of luxury and culture. Shoutout to the amazing staff: Andrew, Jamie, Camarerce, Paola, Stefani, Katherine, Nelson, Tomas, Dagmor, Diocelin, Mileiolis, Lenin, Yanelis. I’m sure we’re missing some names but the staff was one team and everyone made our experience so special. We will absolutely be back!

They were accommodating of our endless requests for places to go, reservations, and pivoting plans as we learned that in Colombia 🇨🇴 you need to take your time and enjoy the moments in front of you. It is beautifully maintained, and the architecture and historic aspects to the hotel itself are breathtaking. Our room was beautifully appointed, with lovely furnishings, comfortable beds, and Modern updates. The service at the hotel was second to none. Our concierge, Paola, took care of our every need, including dining reservations, city tour, and making sure we had just the right room for our family. We dined at the Alma restaurant, which was beautiful, delicious, and the waitstaff were some of the most wonderful we’ve ever encountered. They greeted us with warm, smiles and made us feel so special. They also attended to our every need and remembered our favorite things each day. Just cannot say enough about what an asset that they are to your organization. If we ever return to Cartagena, we will surely look no further than the Casa San Agustín! dapell (10/5): Outstanding experience - his was our first time in Cartagena, and I am so glad we chose Casa San Agustín for our stay. From the moment we arrived, the experience felt special. We were checked in by Andrew and welcomed with beverages and cool towels, which made for a wonderful start to our stay. After check-in, we were given a tour of the property, informed of the available services and escorted to our room, where our bags were already waiting. The hotel is beautiful and full of history and charm, yet everything feels modern, upscale and thoughtfully maintained. Its location in the Walled City was incredibly convenient for exploring shops, dining and nearby sights, but at the same time the hotel still felt peaceful and tucked away. With only 30-plus rooms, it felt intimate and personal — more like a private retreat than a traditional hotel. Our room was excellent, and the terrace was absolutely a standout feature that we really enjoyed. Once we settled in, we took advantage of the spa and later had a fabulous dinner at Alma. Dining outside under the stars while listening to a lovely four-piece band made for a truly memorable evening, and it ended up being one of the best meals of our trip. Breakfast the next morning was just as impressive. My wife even asked for something that was not on the menu, and the team was happy to accommodate her, which said a lot about their approach to service and hospitality. Andrew and the entire team made us feel genuinely welcome throughout our stay. The personalized service was exceptional and played a big part in making the experience so memorable. If we return to Cartagena, this would without question be the one and only place we would stay. Highly recommended.
rishboo (10/5): One of the best hotel experiences we’ve had. Full stop. - Casa San Agustin is special. The room was beautiful, the pool was gorgeous — one of those spaces you don’t want to leave. But what sets this place apart is the design. Thoughtful, collected, unique. Not a hotel that feels designed — one that feels curated. The trees, the pottery, the details everywhere. The service was exceptional across the board. A few people worth naming: Paola, Estefany, and Yanellis at the front made us feel taken care of from the moment we arrived — Yanellis in particular handled every reservation without a hitch. Orlando at breakfast was warm and attentive every morning. Amanda at the pool kept things flowing perfectly. And Jaime — our porter — was always there to help. The food at Alma was exquisite. Breakfast alone is worth it — fresh fruits, fresh juices, great eggs, great avocado. Dinner outside with the live band was a chef’s kiss moment. The hotel also arranged our trip to Acasi Beach — their beach, about 40 minutes by speedboat. Relaxing, beautiful, seamless. If you’re going to Cartagena, stay here. And if we go back, we will.

Beautiful architecture and design with raw stone and wood elements surrounded by thriving plants. Service was the best I’ve ever had at a hotel down to the smallest details. The hotel is located in a beautiful historic building in the historic part of Cartagena. We had 0 complaints. The staff at the hotel is likely the best part as they go above and beyond to satisfy all your needs, they were perfect. The room was very clean, very spacious and very clean, as you would expect in this type of hotel. The breakfast is à la carte which is not our favorite as we prefer buffets but again quality and selection were perfect. If we visit Cartagena again, for sure we will stay again at this 5 star boutique hotel. We also had dinner at the hotel testaurant Alma, and in the same spirit of excellence at the hotel Alma was very enjoyable.

Jamesoestreicher (8/5): Disingenuous restaurant recommendations. - A beautiful location with friendly helpful staff. Elegant interior with various public and private spots to relax. However, I felt they were disingenuous about restaurant reviews. They give their top 5 places (with glowing descriptions), but two of them are the hotel restaurant and at their sister hotel (!). They even have the exact same menu, and are not as good as the others available. The breakfast (included) is delicious but takes a very long time to arrive. They need more cooks and/or a bigger kitchen. Eggs arrived cold, after half an hour waiting. Lastly, I am used to tipping at the end of some cruises, but never before being asked at a luxury hotel. A tip of CAD300 was requested for a three night stay. Inapproriate in my view. Management should address these issues wihich drag the facility down the facility from 5 to 3 stars.

I can’t say enough about the staff, the attention to detail, the service, the architecture, the FOOD. Estefany at the front desk took amazing care of us and they were there for anything we needed. I also had a lovely facial at the Aurem spa and incredible food at the Alma hotel on the property. The hotel is built of basically three 17th century colonial mansions, so it has a super unique feel. They’ve preserved much of the original architecture and everything - I was honestly blown away by every detail. The pool is beautiful too. I went with a good friend of mine but it also seemed great for families, couples etc. love love love!!

We have the personalized calling cards to prove it 😊. The outstanding ambience was exceeded by outstanding staff - indeed a true asset for this Hotel. Dagmar personified concierge experience for us—from our gorgeous, unique room, to the special touches to help celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. She seemed to know everyone in the whole city and for her no request was too big or too small. Breakfast and lunches were delicious and special shout out to Lizardo, Felix and the entire team. Special mentions also of Katherine and Stephanie at the front desk and Lenin who was always there to welcome us with a bottle of water after a walk in the sunshine. We will look forward to returning to our “home” in Cartagena.

It’s a gem of a hotel with a very friendly and attentive staff, including Katherine, Andreij, Lennin and Stefani, who took care of us so well. Because of its great location we walked everywhere - to restaurants and shops, street fairs and cathedrals. We recommend Casa San Augustin to anyone needing an elegant and personal touch.

Casa San Agustin is perfectly located, close to the city wall, historic sites, dining and shopping. asquared1002 (10/5): First time in Cartagena and now I don’t want to leave! - Terrific location in old time Cartagena, a few minutes walk to the historic wall for sunsets, all the churches and little parks and the waterfront for boats to the islands. San Augustin hotel embodies stunning historic architecture and decor with very modern amenities - solid AC, rooms large and comfortable bed. The pool is a welcome respite from the heat of the city. There’s a rooftop for stargazing and several areas for just hanging out. The food is really outstanding served in a restaurant with both a courtyard area to enjoy excellent live music most nights or indoors. There’s a dish called coco woods ceviche that we ordered every time we ate here and now I’m spoiled forever. It combines fresh seafood in coconut milk and fresh pieces of coconut. People are friendly all over Colombia and Cartagena specifically and the staff here really take it to the next level.

The service was attentive without being overwhelming, the property was beautiful and relaxing, the bed was the most comfortable bed I have ever slept on, and the breakfast was a delicious way to start our day each morning. If you order in-room dining, I highly recommend the banana bread. We also got to enjoy Acasi Rustic Beach and had a beautiful time there as well. It is certainly rustic but you are given every comfort to enjoy your time, including tasty cocktails and incredibly fresh fish. We adored our time at Casa San Agustin and are grateful to the staff for making our trip so special.

Wonderful, helpful, and caring staff-- downright stunning room (we stayed in a Junior Suite which was massive and luxurious). Breakfast was consistently great and a nice start to our day. The courtyard pool was so nice to use during the hot afternoon days before heading out into town during the evening hours. Little touches like treats with turndown service, recommendations for restaurants in town, and business cards with your name on them to help shops send packages to your hotel really help set this hotel apart. Would highly recommend you stay here if it is available during your stay in Cartagena! Lastly, a sincere thanks to Andrew, Katherine, Orlando, Jorge, and the many others who made us feel like guests in their home!!!

Check in was smooth and easy. Bell hop, concierge, and other staff were always at the ready. The breakfast was stellar, as was both nights we ate dinner at the attached Alma restaurant. Our room was clean and functional. Truly a five star experience from start to end, and we would happily return on a future trip to Cartagena.
NeilCu (6/5): Beware the addition of a non mandatory service fee on check out! It can be huge. - A warm welcome from Katherine and a great suite as booked (room 102). Good location. However… breakfasts are poor in our opinion where eggs presented mostly cold and breads felt like yesterdays. The most exasperating element was a check out… although advised on check in there would be a “all staff” service charge this comes on top of any other service charges you signed for at the bar for example. So the bill left in the room jumped by a further 500k pesos when I went to pay for “service”!! Sorry the service was not that brilliant so I halved it but was still in shock at the cheek of the size of the non mandatory fee. It’s awful to push this on to the bills in this oblique manner and soured our stay enormously.

669kirilm (10/5): Honeymoon trip in Casa San Agustin, Cartagena - This hotel absolutely lives up to the hype! It was our last stop in Colombia while on our honeymoon and it couldn't have been a more perfect finishing experience. We were greeted warmly by Alvaro at reception and sent off with a lovely smile by Andrew. When we entered our room we found a bottle of bubbly and chocolate-covered strawberries, immediately telling us that around here they certainly know how to make you feel the romance! We had a handwritten note from the general manager Catherine which felt incredibly personal and we definitely appreciated the little touch. This hotel is all about details - from the tea and coffee station that is open all day in the well-climatised area in the library room, to the little goodnight sweet treats that were delivered every evening. I won't be able to mention everyone that made this an unforgettable stay but I have to give a shout out to all the incredible personnel from Paola, Sandra and Mary Lu at the gorgeous Aurum Spa to David, Lizardo and Douglas over at Alma restaurant (where we had the most delicious food for breakfast and dinner, 100% worth a visit even if you are not staying at the hotel!). We now have an absolute favourite hotel not only in Cartagena but in the world! Would consider coming back here just to visit them again. 10/10, no notes other than stay as perfect as you are!

Looks like a lovely hotel but management is a mess - It is a beautiful hotel in the walled city, but dealing with their management when things went wrong was a nightmare. Evidently, their managers don't think it is important to be on site to solve customer problems. They wouldn't even call me back when I tried to reach them by phone. It was a disaster. Look out for managers Lina and Paola- worthless. Also, if you expect the balance or your payment to be paid at check out, beware, they charge the entire stay when you CHECK IN. Even when I showed my documents saying otherwise, they fought reversing it properly. I travel the world in nice hotels. Look out for the pitiful experience at this hotel

We were lucky enough to have one of their honeymoon sweets with a private Jacuzzi on the patio. The toiletries in the bathrooms were top of the line. The bedding and linens were gorgeous. This was a true five star experience.

Our Room 301 was very quiet, comfortable, large and gorgeous terrace. Love the Frette linens and towels! Bathroom enormous with huge walk-in shower. Alma the restaurant on the first floor is the best meal we had in Cartagena. There is a beautiful pool and a great spa that I used on two days. Last but not least breakfast is fantastic.
