We booked 3 months in advance to get a very affordable deal,then got an email from someone of the hotel on the day of checking in claiming that they couldn't give us the room at that affordable rate.In the end they charged us only a few dollars more.Still the whole thing together with the offish brisk reception when we arrived at the hotel,gave us a weird feel.

The staff were really kind to us. It was not the most clean hotel room I’ve been in, but it wasn’t appalling. For the price and location, it was easy to look past. Everything else was lovely!

• Luke (2/5): very poor sleep. not restful - Good Location in center of Thamel. The staff are cool and friendy, aways ready to help and to make your stay pleasant. Unfortunately, a party of Koreans ( i think Korean ) guests totally ruined the peace. Their Drunken ( drugged ) antics , running thru the halls and stairwells all night, shouting, and the 7am thumping and kicking of doors, including mine, which continued for hours. Totally impossible to sleep and despite complaints ( ' so sorry ! so sorrrry !! ' ) the thunderous noise continued. Apparently their 'sorry' wasn't worth much, as hinted at by the clear hatred on the eyes in one of their party , directed laser like , to yours truly. So .. no sleep at night , and by 7:30- or 8 am the hammering and circular saws cutting steel at the ~10 storey building site opposite makde daytime sleep impossibe also. Really a pity , because the hotel and staff are very nice and for a reasonable price.

These people are so amazing, warm, friendly, really in service for whatever you need and they make you feel at home! Thank you for everything! Location is great because everything is near (including a tasty Gaia restaurant) and what is not you can easily get a car with a cool friendly driver. Ask staff for whatever you need and they will inform you about anything instantly. Room is clean, shower is hot, every service is functioning well. Food they make is very very good, big portions and with many varieties. I warmly recommend this hotel to everyone :)

As they knew that we came from a long flight, they made every possible way for us to secure an early check-in, which was amazing. They make you feel at home by extending care and kindness. Breakfast is really delicious. The thing I liked the most is helpful and always smiling stuff! I really recommend it. :)

• DarleneG631 (8/5): Tired but service wins the day. - I stayed at Buddhaland 4 years ago. When arranging this trip, I would not stay anywhere else for the first days back in Kathmandu! The service is still great, the breakfast is even better, hot showers in the late afternoon is just the ticket. The hotel now has a small terrace/front porch area raised up from the street to front door level. I wanted to contact Namo Buddha Monastery to see if I could book a room there and the desk agent called for me and translated! My only sadness was to see that except for a few changes, Buddhaland is tired and showing its age. Some of the issue is the construction going on across the street that used to be an open area. The construction dust is unavoidable and the workers start early. NOTE: Other guests were warm and easy to talk to just like the last time I stayed there. I believe Buddhaland attracts some wonderful people and not just for the location and inexpensive price.

They set up tours and adventures and site-seeing trips for us with no extra cost! We paid for a cheaper room which ended up feeling more like a hostel than a hotel, but it was perfect for our needs and at a price that can’t be beat! Will definitely stay at Buddha land again if I make it back to nepal!

All staffs were very polite but it was not as clean as it was expected to be, bed sheet was a bit dirty. But it was a quiet place to stay in. It has a nice balcony in front of the hotel, very nice place to sit and eat something there while talking with a friend.

The staff were very helpful and arranged airport transfers and onward bus travel and so we were happy to choose them again on our return to Kathmandu before departing Nepal. The people that work there are uncommonly friendly, go out of their way to make your stay as pleasant as possible, and that's what makes this place what it is. The value is great. You're within a few minutes of any shopping you'll need, and they'll plan anything you want to do right at the front desk with well learned and well spoken staff. Rooms are clean (have in mind that rooms may differ - some may be better than others). However, the best "thing" about staying at this hotel is its staff - they are so kind, friendly, ready to help, their hospitality is unforgettable! That's the reason we would stay at this place again :) Truly recommend it!

• 300helener (10/5): Love love love - The staff is super friendly and helpful. The location of the hotel is really convenient, rooms are surprisingly good, and has a good size! Obviously there’s noice from the streets, but that’s all over Kathmandu.
