• Kali (10/5): Wonderful experience - The Brookside Inn of Laurens is a wonderful find. The owner clearly cares deeply about making his guests feel welcome and well cared for. He makes fresh breakfast every morning, which are simple but excellent and he will work with you to accommodate special dietary needs within reason. The rooms are all color coordinated and he has updated electrical outlets to include some built in USB outlets. Small details like this can be found throughout the rooms and house.

• Lawrence (6/5): - This historic home has so much potential if it would be kept up by the property owner. Just a fresh coat of paint and the overgrown landscaping cleaned up would make a world of difference. Our entire stay reflected the lack of interest of the host/owner. We chose the largest, most expensive room with a private bathroom, yet when I peaked in at other rooms they were better decorated and the shared bathrooms were updated and nicely tiled. Our room needed updating. Tacky decor and a tiny bathroom with a prefab shower and lights that didn’t work. The room was dirty, the glass table next to the bed was covered in fingerprints and glass rings. Upon entering our room I found the trash in the bathroom hadn’t been emptied. My first instinct was to pull the sheets back and look to be sure there wasn’t any bedbugs. I’ve have never worried or done that where I’ve stayed before. The view out our window was of trash lined around the garage and the overgrown landscaping. Then there’s the breakfast and snacks. If you love sugar you will be very pleased, but if you like to eat healthy you’re out of luck. No choices at breakfast or health/allergy considerations, you get whatever the host is making. We were served scrambled eggs, bacon coated in brown sugar, and pancakes loaded with sugar pearls! The snacks offered is Halloween size candy and lunchbox size packages of assorted chips. No fruit, no healthy bars, no yogurt. If you just need to stop for one night this place will be okay enough.

I hope it is a work in progress. The inside was fine. The room was good and we had a private bathroom. The owner, Matt, is very nice and he made a wonderful breakfast! We enjoyed our short stay.

Its an historic home with modern functionality, and Matt is an awesome host. There was a delicious, real home cooked breakfast each morning, and he provides great recommendations for dining, and desserts, all just a short drive from the property.

Beds were also very comfortable. This is a 200 year old home and is very charming. The downside is the property is lacking in routine maintenance and upkeep. Frayed rugs, dusty, gaps to the sides of the window air conditioner, lots of spider webs in between the windows. Exterior also needs a good clean up, paint and sign needs to be fixed. Good was good just would have been nice to have some healthier options.

• Tim Francl (10/5): Great stay, great people - felt like home - I stayed here for nearly a week, and this place became home to me. Often times I had to leave early and return late and it was never an issue. Food was fabulous, well more than I had experienced. Snacks and coffee always available. I worked at the kitchen table late at night and I felt like I was back at my house. Very accommodating, especially with breakfast or other requests a guest may have. The saying "you arrive as a guest, leave as a friend" really applies here. I would highly encourage people to give this place a try.

He was accessible whenever I needed him, from pre-check-in to check-out. Excellent WiFi. Comfortable bed; I slept well. I enjoyed my breakfast of juice, pancakes, bacon and decaf Kurtis coffee. However, those who would like a healthier breakfast would be out of luck, There was no fresh fruit, no yogurt. Also, no bread, bagels or pastries of any kind, no jam. There is a large maybe a little too friendly dog. I rate my stay as average because although everything is fine, it misses the mark in elegance.

Fascinating, creatively appointed rooms, two very memorable delicious and delightful breakfasts prepared and served by our amiable host, Matthew. We stayed in the blue room upstairs and will definitely look for opportunities to return in the future! We highly recommend this inn and love that children are welcome there (though this time we were traveling without our 3 grown & flown sons).
• Kurt (10/5): Lazy Days in Laurens - This is a wonderful bed-and-breakfast. Personable host Matt makes great breakfasts. This is a quiet and relaxing environment. A few mile drive to the busy town of Oneonta. Half the price of hotels in town that serve breakfast out of a box. I have stayed here on two occasions, and will be returning in the next week or two. I highly recommend.

Exterior of house not well maintained, lightbulb out on front porch, landscaping overgrown, paint peeling on house, burned out house across the street No recommendations or brochures for things to do in the area Bathroom not super clean saw hairs in shower and on sink, hand soap practically empty, half used shampoo and conditioner containers in shower Ceiling fans were disgusting they had so much dust on them. Not much located close by. Positives Price Easy drive to Cooperstown (30 min). Breakfast was decent. Owner was nice.

• Jane (6/5): - There was no toilet paper in one bathroom, the other bathroom had no soap. A prior guest had thrown away left over pizza in both bathrooms snd the garbage had not been emptied. In the middle of the night I used the bathroom and found that the trash had been overturned and the cold pizza was strewn over the floors of both bathrooms. I imagine that someone's dog had gotten into it. I picked up the trash in one of the bathrooms, but when we left the other one had still not been cleaned. This tells me that no one is cleaning or inspecting the shared baths between or during stays. It was not only gross, its a health hazard. Nice family, nice housebut they need to pay more attention to the basics.

I stopped in just after noon (check in is 3 - 6) and knew my room wouldn't be ready, but was given the key with the option to leaved my bags there. Guests sign up for times for breakfast (7:30 - 8:30). Coffee, hot water for tea, and orange juice are available. Breakfast varies by day and is served promptly. The w-f- seemed a little spotty, but no other problems.

The location was very quiet, although a bit remote. It was ideal for my purposes as it was only five miles from the All Star baseball village where my grandson was playing in a tournament. t was ten minutes plus from Oneanta, and at least a half hour from Cooperstown proper. I would recommend this as a comfortable place to stay, without hesitation, and would gladly stay here again. There were no amenities, but the house was fully equipped (even though I had to share a bathroom, which was not that inconvenient).

• Joe (8/5): - Nice staff, friendly and clean room. Breakfast is available and offered msny options. Overall very accomodating.
• Verified traveler (10/5): - Good place to stay if you are going to cooperstown all star village
• Ray (8/5): - Very nice and accommodating place. Kind of isolated but we were not there for entertainment. Close to Baseball Hall of Fame. Owners were extremely prepared. Breakfast was spectacular. Will stay there again.
