- LydTom (10/5): Superb, even better if you're without kids! - Absolutely superb. Low mark for wi-fi because we didn't use it so no idea. Rooms were comfy and roomy. Staff were the definition of exceptional customer service. Breakfast was great. Wish we'd had more time to lounge and slowly eat. Bar was in full flow when we arrived Friday evening but we heard nothing from our room directly above it. I had my 9 year old son with me which was perfect. I also think this inn would be ideal for an adult stay.

The staff obviously know what they’re doing and the place is well managed. The food was a real highlight. Both dinner and breakfast were faultless. We will definitely return!

- Clare (10/5): Idyllic - We’ve stayed here twice now, once as a couple for a romantic wee break and now with our baby son and my mum. Each time has just been idyllic. The food is amazing, the staff are so lovely (they helped us entertain the baby this time and also took a lovely photo of us all) and the rooms and hotel is just outstanding. I honestly think this is one of the nicest places to stay in the world (have stayed in five star hotels in London, Singapore, Venice, etc). Interior decoration inspo! This time we stayed in the biggest room (juniper) and it was actually a whole suite with plenty of room for us and the baby upstairs and then my mum had a whole separate room to herself. That we had such a short stay!

- Gareth (10/5): A beautifully run hotel with lovely food, genuinely warm staff and great attention to detail, making it a place we loved - We had a wonderful stay at The Bear from start to finish. The welcome was warm and genuine, and every member of staff was friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. Our room was lovely, spotlessly clean and finished to a very high standard, with great attention to detail. Dinner was excellent and we really appreciated the thoughtful wine pairing suggestions. The team took time to chat with us and made us feel truly welcome throughout our stay. The décor is superb and the whole place feels calm, comfortable and well cared for. Breakfast was stunning and a perfect end to a brilliant visit. A real destination. Huge thanks to Chloe, the General Manager, and all the staff for such a memorable experience. We loved every minute and look forward to returning.

Stunning array artwork of artwork throughout.My room was very relaxing, attention to detail blanket, kettle, coffee machine, and even Bamford toiletries. The bathroom was stunning as was the room. I will definitely be back and recommending you to friends. Great team and very welcoming. Unfortunately the mattress was a little too hard for me. But beautifully made and clean too.

I would definitely go again. - We had an accessible room and it suited my husbands needs, the wet room was amazing and had been adapted very sympathetically. The hotel was lovely and the food superb. There was nothing I didn't like. If I had to make a comment it would be to have two easy chairs in the bedroom and maybe a change around of the furniture in the communal lounge area

The location is a bit remote with limited areas to just go for a walk as the nearby gardens are only open on certain days. Dinner was a bit pricier than we would normally pay but very delicious and felt like a nice treat. It would have been nice for the Hodnet Hall Gardens to have been open so there was somewhere nice to walk.
- Joshua (10/5): This place is a true gem - We loved absolutely everything about The Bear Inn. This place is a real gem and the staff are brilliant. We've just got back from a two night stay in the Beech room. The room and bathroom were decorated beautifully and had everything you could need. We did find that the room got a little bit warm, but there was a fan provided or you could obviously just open the windows which did help. We ate in the restaurant on the first night and the food was really special and of such high quality. Breakfast was equally great and really set us up for the day. We honestly cannot wait to come back. For us, this really isn't applicable. Everything was perfect.
