Guest Reviews
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Staff was amazing, very accommodating. Nice and quiet bungalow
- Rosalyn (8/5): Nice and quite bungalows, food and wifi not great - We stayed in a very nice bungalow and awoke to birds chirping on their very pretty grounds. There's a lot of space at this hotel and each of the bungalows is positioned with enough space for privacy. However, there are two units in each bungalow, an upper and lower. We stayed in the lower and there was no one in the upper room. If there was someone upstairs they could have been noisy in our room.
The room was very big, and parking outside was very easy. We arrived in the evening after the office was closed and check in was no problem with the security guard.
The wifi did not work at all in our room, we were informed in the morning that wifi is only at the main lounge area. But because of the remoteness of the hotel location, we had no cell service in the bungalows.
The hotel seems mostly geared towards providing meals and presentations to tour busses that stop there on the way to and from Chichen Itza. So while we ate three busses pulled up and unloaded. It didn't bother us at all, and there is quite a big shop there, if you want to buy tourist goods.
The buffet breakfst is supposed to be included with the room, however we arrived at 10:45am and were charged because they had already started to serve lunch at that time. The buffet is very large and there are several Yucateco options as well as some not very good 'US' style food like spagetti. The food was mediocre, but adequate, what you'd expect at a buffet. Again, the buffet is really for the tour busses that stop there
- Carmen C. (6/5): My first such experience with VRBO recommendation - The hotel was very beautiful and clean....looks just like the photos.
There were two single ladies traveling and our first room with double beds could not be locked from inside the room. Being uncomfortable with sleeping with our door unlock, we asked to be moved. The only other room was a single bed and we accepted. Once we got settled we attempted to use the bathroom and thick green liquid was coming out of the sink and toilet. Management came up to clear the issue and attempt to clean the residue. The shower would not produce hot water also. All of the rooms were unoccupied with only two available for management to accommodate us.
So we used a pitcher of water which they provided to brush our teeth and took our cold showers in stride. The staff was very nice.

- Anonymous (8/5): - People were extremely helpful. We were expecting more local cuisine and treats. More tropical fruits and drinks.
- Taylor (10/5): Nice secluded Bungalow - The bungalow was in a very peaceful area in the woods. We had our own small little one room house. It was clean and the staff was very nice and helpful. The location was far away from any other towns or stores so don't plan on anything being within walking distance.
- Laura (10/5): Great stopover between Valladolid and Mérida - Friendly, welcoming, multilingual staff and beautiful property. Delicious food. Everything exceeded our expectations.
- Joan (8/5): - Beautiful grounds, very pleasant staff, clean room, huge shower. Only downside really was there were quite a few steps to get to room, and the room itself was pretty small. No fridge, but they were very helpful and brought us one.
- Jorge (2/5): - Very poor the facilites, no water in the wc, a lot insects dearth, and no clean
- Adrian (6/5): Ok if you have no other choice. - It looked vacant, the rooms were nice and clean but honestly they looked better in the pictures. Breakfast was extremely limited, people seemed to want to do as little as possible when help was needed.
- Ghadi (8/5): Nice experience - The bungalows are amazing nice experience rooms are good and spacious the pool is amazing at night with clear skies you can swim under the stars
The WiFi is very bad it doesnot work 90% of the time
The buffet food is not that good you can always drive 20 min to the closest city and eat some real Mexican food 👍✌️
- Pualani (6/5): Beautiful property, mediocre room. - Pros - Beautiful landscaping on property, peacocks, pool.
Cons - Dirty room (spiders, dead bugs around the room), uncomfortable beds, no hot water, low quality food in restaurant.
Would not stay again.
- Juanita (8/5): Nice hotel not far from Chichen Itza - I stayed in one of the bungalows at this hotel. The grounds are tropical and well maintained, very pleasant and serene. Nice pool.
- felipe (4/5): Nice hotel in the country - Unique setting a couple kilometers from town. We paid extra for the king suite bungalows but they do not get wifi, nor did our tv work. Room had a bit of a musty smell and there was sand, dirt on the floor.
Had the floors been clean and if we a
Had wifi and tv I would have rated it higher.
Had to check out one day earlier but could not cancel the room and had to pay the extra night.
- todd (10/5): Great hospitality - Family run property couldn't have had a more warm atmosphere authentic food great chicken flautas
- Alberto (8/5): Nice hotel close to many attractions. - We used this hotel as a base fro our exploration of various sites in Yucatán and it proved to be a good choice. Thier bungalows were full so we took two rooms at the main building. We saw an issue with one of the curtains and they immediately repaired it. The air conditioning works very well and the bathroom is quite big.
- Mariana (10/5): Great find - Gorgeous ground, great location, friendly staff and overall super cheap- Strongly recommend!
- Stephanie (10/5): Really neat place near Chichen Itza and Cenotes - I absolutely loved staying here! This is a really neat hotel with the option of staying in bungalows. We stayed in a king sized bungalow. It was very spacious and seemed luxurious for staying in Mexico. The grounds are beautiful! They are very relaxing and quiet. We arrived in December 23rd. The staff was extremely kind and even invited us to their Posada party! In Mexico, they celebrate on December 24th instead of December 25th. We were very tired from our travel that day and after seeing Chichen Itza so we didn’t end up going. They do offer free breakfast: tea, orange juice, coffee, a small fruit plate, and toast. They also have a restaurant and you can order more food if you’d like. The hotel grounds also have a shopping area where you can find gifts and other keepsakes. I highly recommend staying here, it is a great value for the price and the staff are beyond kind!
- David (8/5): - Nice place good service great location for Chichi itza
- Marc (6/5): - No hot water. Service closed after 6.
- Pete (10/5): - excelent hotel nice staff, close to the arqueological zone beautiful
- Hope (10/5): Nice Staff, Lovely Pool, Large Bathrooms - This is my third stay at Real Mayab and it is just as nice, if not better, than my other two experiences. What's especially inviting is that the manager remembered our group and welcomed us with open arms. Some of the rooms are on the small side, but the bathrooms are very large and well equipped. The pool is beautiful and comfortable. There are bungalows in a park-like setting behind the hotel that would be great for families.
You can get breakfast, lunch, and dinner at the hotel, but I think most who stay there only have breakfast. A light breakfast - coffee, bread, and fruit - is included in the room rate -, and you can add eggs, omelets, and other breakfast items at reasonable prices.
- David (10/5): - Great staff, nice place. We had the whole place to ourselves.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice place, sort of removed. Beautiful grounds. - This hotel has very beautiful grounds. Souvenirs are a little high price compared to what you see at the ruins. The only real negative was the very measly breakfast and the very hard beds. Also the waiter made a mistake on what was included in the breakfast and they made me pay for the mistake anyway.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - A nice hotel on beautiful grounds located conveniently close to Chichen Itza. The food at the restaurant was only so-so, but it is located close to a small town that has a number of good dining options.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Meditate in silence. - Interesting experience with the Mayan artisans community. The resort lends itself well to meditation and the people are open and charming.
- gina (6/5): Great location and pool - 1 night stay for rest on way to chitzen itza large cabana and garden plus pool easy place to rest
- Rosemary (6/5): Quirky and quiet! - Quite a quirky place!! Convenient for Chichenitza and Kulkil . The accommodation was quite basic and smellt a bit damp. The staff were great as we had a few problems with water, TV and air conditioning but not everything could be fixed , the reason being " it's the system"!! A bit pricey for what and where it was and the breakfast left a bit to be desired. Nothing to do in the evening especially with no t v and nearest big town a distance away. It served its purpose for us at the time as an overnight stay .
- Jennifer (6/5): Cheap accomodation close to Chichen Itza - Our stay here was a little disappointing. We booked a bungalow for a 1 night stay on our way to Cancun. The rate was cheap which was good. The grounds are beautiful and this place has unbelievable potential. The restaurant was ok and provided a free breakfast with our stay. This included eggs any style and coffee. There was a buffet available with very limited selection. There is a hand craft/convenience store on site however it was closed when we arrived at 3pm, There was no toilet paper in our room and we had to request some. The room was spacious however, the floor is unfinished concrete and we had to keep our shoes on the whole time and it had a very musty/damp smell. The beds were very uncomfortable and there wasn't anywhere in the room to sit besides the bed and there was no furnishings present. There is supposed to be free wifi but it didn't reach our bungalow. This hotel isn't within walking distance to anywhere so once you're there you have to stay on the grounds our get in your car and drive to the nearest town of Kaua if you would like to get anything to eat or just go for a stroll. The staff, however, were quite friendly and accommodating and they went out of their way to make us feel welcome. the pool area was quite nice as well.
- Cuauhtemoc (8/5): - Really nice jungle atmosphere
- Albert (8/5): Nice hotel - Everything is good but the breakfast not full only coffee and bread. We pay another fee for full breakfast
- Carrie (6/5): Close to Chichen Itza - We chose those hotel for its proximity to Chichen Itza. The staff was very courteous and helpful. There is a restaurant on site and the food was decent and staff very kind. The accommodations are sparse. Unfortunately there was not any hot water. Our room smelled a little musty but it was very clean.
- Mr Kaktus (10/5): excellent hotel - one of the best place, price was good, delicious food, nice staff. Quiet, relax in swimming pool, sounds of nature. Good place to rest after loud Chichen Itza
- jim (8/5): Don't let the low price fool you! - This place was so beautiful, the pictures really don't do it justice. They have peacocks and turtles on the grounds and appear to be building more attractions behind the property. We "sprung" for a bungalow and were thrilled to see the spacious palapa roof that had been netted off. Also the decorative mosquito netting around the bed was unneccecary, but added a romantic touch to our stay. The shower was spacious as well and had plenty of pressure. My only complaints were that the wifi didn't make it to our bungalow and there was some sand on the floor in our room when we arrived. The staff more than made up for those imperfections, they were so friendly and courteous. Victor the chef prepared some incredible food (and cocktails) and brought them to us pool side as we needed to cool off after our long drive. It kinda felt like Vegas! Bottom line, if your going to Chichen Itza, don't do both drives and tour the ruins in one day, stay here. As we were leaving Chichen Itza the next day after a good night of sleep and long day of hiking the ruins, we couldn't help feeling sorry for all the poor suckers arriving on tour busses at 2pm. Those sad sacks wouldn't be back in Cancun until after dark. Oh one more thing, get out of Cancun, that place sucks!
- Ross (8/5): Enjoyed our stay - We enjoyed our stay here Very Quiet and relaxing
Clean and good food.
- Chris (4/5): Clean, comfortable bed, but - NO HOT WATER - Place is fine. Room was clean and good for a night's stay, but...NO HOT WATER. Arrived at 8pm and staff helped verify there was hot water after a 10 min wait of the water running, but in the morning NOTHING. We let the water run for 20+ min, but NO HOT WATER.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Not a good experience. Rooms were not clean. Water did not flow. We stayed at four rooms, one did not have hot water.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Unusual placve - Beautiful gardens, peacocks, turtles, lovely cottages Stayed in the main building, which was comfortable, beautiful building and extraordinary parquet floors and granite walls. Very few people there when we were there, which is too bad, as it was a good experience. He said they were filled the week before. . No chairs or tables in room.
- R (10/5): Wonderful cabin! - Loved everything about this hotel!
Got there 9pm and the office was closed there was a guy waiting for us and he was very helpful and friendly
Breakfast was basic and we ordered delicious eggs to complement for 60 pesos. Can't wait to go back
- Pab (6/5): Nice hotel although very far from anyplace - It was an overall a good experience, rooms are clean, quite small but ok for a short stay. It was extremely difficult to get transport to any place.
- martin (6/5): Okay - There's not much option to stay in Chitchen Itza for this price. The hotel amenities is nice and it has a nice garden. But the room was a bit smelly. The fridge was not on, and there were lots of ants inside. My AC was not cold at all and the hot water did not work when we were there.
- LUIS ANGEL (8/5): Nice place with wonderful atmosphere and priceable - Very good location close to Chichen Itza and very reasanoble price compared to other hotels in the area. Excellent for the price offered.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Very good hotel - Very good hotel, good service, very clean. Would be also great to have WiFi in the rooms, not only in the lobby.
- Paul (6/5): Such a beautiful property; The room however... - When arriving at this property, my wife and I were extremely pleasantly surprised to see such a beautiful place with amazing grounds, we thought we died and went to heaven.
We arrived around at almost 6pm, as we drove from Playa del Carmen and made a few stops along the way. The Hotel staff were literally packing up to go home and only the security guard was going to be on site to watch over us if anything arose. Thankfully after I made a comment to them one staff member stuck around until we were comfortable in our room. He helped us with our problems (no hot water: which there was none until the morning, even then it was just luke warm. The towels smelt musty and the TV did not work.)
I found the Bathroom was nicer than the bedroom as the Bedroom was plain white walls and the Bathroom has beautiful tile done all around.
I would say come enjoy this property for a few hours, but I wouldn't recommend to stay overnight here.
- Mark (6/5): it's ok thats about it. - This hotel is alone on the highway just outside of town. Very basic rooms, I had a bungalow, which is nothing special. There is only wifi in the hotel office not in the rooms or restaurant. The restaurant serves breakfast around 8 or when ever you get there after 8 and it has a buffet lunch which caters to the bus tours going to Chichen Itza. There is no dinner service so bring your own or go back into town.
I was the only guest this night. There is a security guard there all night, so no one messed with my bike. my rating would be it's OK but nothing special. I should have rode the couple of hours more and gone into Cancun.
- Jacob (10/5): Magical experience! Highly recommend. - This is a true experience of Yucatan nature & enchantment. The bungalows are not "luxury 4 star" accommodations but the overall experience of this place gets 5 stars from me! The landscape is full of Mayan details and includes a peacock sanctuary, Turtle pond, tons of places to sit & walk, yummy restaurant, big gift shop, & sparkling pool. The rooms are large with vaulted ceilings, big balconies, large bathrooms.
- John (10/5): Cool Jungle Bungalow - Very cool place in wooded retreat. Nice people. Good restaurant. Nice pool with great nighttime bat show. Close to Xichen Itza but away from the crowds. Quiet.
itza
- Eva (8/5): Nice place, lovely service - The service was great. Everyone was kind and helpful. Only issue is the name on the sign is different to our booking, so it was a little tricky to find, and it's a little far out from both the town and Chichen Itza. But these issues were easily resolved and for what we paid and what we got we felt it was a good deal.
- Michael (10/5): Cancun Trip - We had an excellent experience. The staff was very friendly.
- jennifer (10/5): Nice stay minutes of the pyramids - I stayed one night as I was visiting Chichen Itza the next day. Attentive staff, great a/c, modern rooms these are in the front building above the lobby. Nice garden take pics or have a picnic. Switched from a bungalow to a regular room as I was traveling with family. Will definately recommend only about 7 minutes from the pyramids.
- Angela (6/5): Honeymoon stay for day visit to Chichen Itza - We chose this hotel because it's close to the Mayan ruins of Chichen Itza and because of other reviews we had read. It is right off the highway but still feels very much "in the jungle". The staff is very friendly and helpful as well. We came in way later than expected (husband not wanting to use a map and driving from Cancun) but Winston was at the ready to take our bags and show us our room. Breakfast is included but if you want eggs etc...(which are pretty good) then it's about $6 each. The geckos and bird song in the morning is pretty magical too. The best part is waking up early and driving out to Chichen Itza before the mobs of tour buses get there. The sweet spot is around 9 to 10 am. After that, it's pretty busy and a lot hotter out.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Very nice newish hotel. - This hotel is very nice. We were the only guests which felt a little strange. It is within a larger complex of shops and restaurant that cater to buses headed to Chichen Itza. A good stay if you are headed to Chichen Itza for the day.
- Dorothy (6/5): Watch your step! Look for hot water when showering - I enjoyed my stay here, although I downrated the hotel because there was no hot water for showering in the morning. I don't know if there would have been hot water the previous evening.
I also was surprised that such a new, modern hotel had so many little steps. For instance, from the exterior corridor you had to step up in order to enter the bedroom, then immediately step down within 2 feet of the doorway. Then, to enter the bathroom, you had to step up again - luckily I remembered to do it in the dark of the night! However, it is an accident waiting to happen.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Not 4 star place, but loved it! - Hot shower a challenge. English not even second language. No phone or wifi in room. Tiny tv, small, stark room.
Staff ridiculously nice! Very funky but charming place. In serious no where, but only 20 mins from chichen itza.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Very polite and friendly staff - Very polite and friendly staff!!
Request - please, more visible signs that are approaching the hotel in the dark.
- Michael (8/5): Nice hotel near chichen itza - The hotel was a nice, clean out of the way hotel on the road to chichen itza. The only issue was the restaurant was closed early due to it being the off season. We had a bungalow and really liked the room and the hotel grounds. The staff was very helpful.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great Jungle Lodge - This was a great little place with a friendly staff and good food (Only tried items from the menu, and avoided the big lunch buffet) . Although we feel as though we a good deal on the hotel and restaurant, the shops Rip you OFF.
- Ferhan (6/5): Convenient for Chichen Itza, only for a day - Management: The staff is very courteous and tries hard to please you. However, we did not get a bungalow although that's what we booked. They put us in a hotel room instead and did not offer any compensation right away. Only after we complained that they told us that the manager *accepted all reservations* and gave us free dinner -- however, the fact that we did not get the room we were guaranteed (bungalows and hotel rooms are separately rated) because of the manager's greediness is insulting.
Location: Perfectly located between Chichen Itza and Valladolid, we were able to get to the ruins in 10-15 minutes. The downside is that there are very few options for dining, none in a 5-mile radius other than the hotel restaurant, which is very limited.
Rooms: Hotel rooms are simple, clean, but under-decorated and under-furnished. The baths are large and nice.
Grounds: The pictures online make it look nicer than it is. This is partly due to the general unfinished-ness of the place. I don't know but they were always moving, workers were at the garden doing something, etc.
Also, no wireless reception from the room, which is not acceptable for such a new hotel.
- Laura (8/5): Great inland stop close to chichen itza! - The staff was amazing. So lovely and accommodating! The food was good too! A great place to stay if you want to spend a day exploring the ruins before heading to the beach.
- julie (2/5): Disappointing - Room in villa was depressing and staff never delivered promised controls for air conditioning and tv. In the middle of nowhere.
- Daniel S. (8/5): Nice place! - I highly recommend this place ifor people who wants to stay in a comfortable family hotel. Friendly people are always there to help you with any questions or requirements. Near to the Chichen Itza and Cenotes...the little inconvenient...you need private transportation or just take the cheapest "Collectivos" (taxis) to go to the city. Perfect place for nature lovers...I enjoyed the most beautiful starry nights.
- rob (10/5): Convenient to Chichen Itza and good value - Clean room, huge bathroom, simple breakfast, very friendly staff.
- David (10/5): - We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel and we were able to relax, which was much needed.
- Joe (10/5): Great - Beautiful hotel, nice friendly staff, easy check in and out
- Verified traveler (8/5): Generally a nice place to stay. - Staff is friendly and helpful. Unique Bungalow style rooms. If you don't have a car and need to get a taxi to Valladolid or Chichen Itza, make sure you ask the staff to help because taxi drivers could charge you a lot more if you get a taxi by yourself.
- Christiane (6/5): Good hotel near the site " Chichen Itza " - Booked this hotel for one night only. Good position between Valladolid and Chichen Itza. I had booked 2 rooms with twin beds, but when we arrived we were taken to double rooms. We had to insist and make a real fuss to get what we needed! Not very pleasant.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Very modern place for the area - Hotel room itself was really excellent, 3-4 star quality without question. Only downside is that the hotel is very small and aside from a pool there are few amenities. Housekeeping was excellent. Every day on my return I was greeted with new and creative ways to fold the bedding and linens.
Buffet was good but the food is the same every day so you won't have much in the way of choice. I recommend eating in nearby towns if you are there for a long stay. Also, the buffet is a popular lunch stop for large tour buses in the area. Try to time your meals between bus tour arrivals.
Most of the staff speak English on a functional level. I had no difficulty with any of my inquiries while I was there.
- Jim M (10/5): on the way to Chitzen Itza - the owners have spent money to get his online, and it will do well.
- Blair (8/5): Great location minutes from chichen itza - Comfy modern room great breakfast friendly staff.
- Hope (10/5): Lovely hotel with caring staff! - This is my second stay at Real Mayab and this time was as pleasant as the first! The hotel rooms are simple, but spotlessly clean and the bathrooms are large and attractive. The swimming pool is very pretty and refreshing, too! The staff all work hard to attend to everyone's needs. Right now, there are storms each afternoon and we arrived during a downpour. The staff brought large umbrellas out to our car so we wouldn't get wet. When we asked for an extra towel, it was brought to our room within five minutes. A tasty breakfast is included in the room rate. This hotel is also very convenient to Chichen Itza.
- E&LV (8/5): Beautiful new rooms - Great place to stay, about twenty miles from Valladolid and twenty miles from chitchen Itza. New hotel, not too many other guest. Clean rooms with big bathrooms. Very comfortable.
- MP3Vegas (8/5): Nice hotel near Chichen Itza - The staff was excellent. They all addressed me by my name. The view was nice. This hotel was the perfect get away from all the stress.
- Jude 96 (8/5): A great location for Chichen Itza but it isn't 4*! - It's located on the highway to Chichen Itza, on its own, nothing near. Can't miss it. We had a bungalow for three of us. Clean, but very basic. Had to ask for chairs to sit on. Staff were helpful. The pool is nice, but if a tour bus comes in for people to visit the shop it gets very busy. Mario makes a mean margarita. Some confusion about us booking through hotels.com and we were being asked to pay again plus extra taxes. We managed to communicate using itranslate and then there was no problem. We had two nights there, sat outside listening to the noise of the forest as it goes dark. Don't know how it got a 4* rating though but still a good place to stop on a road trip.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Really cool place to stay close to Chichen Itza - This place is really awesome and an excellent value! It's very clean, the food was delicious, the grounds have really nice/interesting landscaping, great pool and nice staff.
There isn't much around it and it seems like it was built really recently, but it's a very nice little place to stop over after visiting chichen itza. It's located directly on the main road (rt.180, I think) to chichen itza, maybe about 15-20 minutes away.
- Corce (8/5): Real Mayab - Nice room. Out in the middle of no where, which we liked. It was clean and quiet. About 15 minutes drive from Chitzen Itza, so we were able to get there nice and early.
Only complaint--no hot water!
- Jeff (10/5): Great place to stay close to Chichen Itzá - Very nice place to stay with beautiful gardens in the middle of the jungle and just 12 miles away from Chichen Itzá.
It has a very nice pool and a big souvenir shop with local made handcrafts.
I would highly recommend this place to anyone who wants to stay close to Valladolid and Chichen Itzá and the price was very reasonable.
- Philippe (2/5): Not a pleasant experience at all - This hotel is not recommendable: Service is absent, hotel is poorly maintained, rooms are full of mosquitos and very humid.
- Debora (10/5): Beautiful place and people close to Chichen Itza - Kind, friendly and very polite people run the place. The rooms are spotless and beautiful. The beds are very comfortable. The grounds have paths and one can hear bird songs from the rooms. It is very quiet. I'd love to go back. An easy car ride to Chichen Itza.
- dana (8/5): Very nice place on the way to chichen itza - Stayed for one night but made us regrett we didnt have time fore more. Everything is new and clean and the best shower i had in yucatan.... the only thing that bothered me is that they wrote theres internet, but there wasnt in the rooms... we had to go in the cold to the area near the reception. Anyway nice place.

- Philippe (2/5): Not a recommendable place at all - Staying in this hotel has not been pleasant at all for the following reasons. First in the restaurant, there is almost no one attending you (or you have to search for the personnel in the kitchen. Secondly, in the park outside the rooms, it could be nice walking there if it were not in the middle of drying towels... even saw two garbage bags in the middle of the path.. Thirdly, the room itself: there was a light missing outside (which could be a security issue when coming back outside). The room was full of mosquitoes. The bathroom was very humid, with a very deficient hot water supply (happened twice in 2 days). Finally, one day that we asked to change the towels, we realized the towels were not changed !!! Finally, I would like to tell that if you are not pleased with the conditions of the hotel, there is no way to obtain reimbursement for early check-out.
- Philippe (2/5): A nightmare - Staying in this hotel has not been pleasant at all for the following reasons.
- Mori (6/5): Acceptable but not special - We arrived very late after having issues with our flight. The staff was waiting for us and greeted us at the car park. The hotel itself is somewhat rustic - bungalows scattered over a property with gravel paths. They were unable to give us rooms in the same bungalow, even though there were clearly bungalows with two rooms unoccupied. (The reason was unclear and my bad Spanish and their bad English wasn't really up for complex explanations.) Also, even though we booked for two rooms with two beds we ended up in two king rooms. (The air conditioning didn't work in the one room that had two beds.) The rooms are fairly spartan but clean. Breakfast was fine. The grounds are lovely, and they have peacocks, which is fun. This was an acceptable option for one night before going to Chichen Itza, but I don't know that I would book there again. Definitely I wouldn't book for multiple nights.
- Holly (6/5): This hotel was ok but nothing to write home about. - There was no real food for when we arrived at 8PM and we were very hungry. When my boyfriend asked about food they tried to give him turkey hat had been sitting out on the buffet for $20. The internet was only avalible in one spot which was the reception and at one point even that didn't work. We didn't have towels after we arrived and our safe didn't work. The hotel grounds were beautiful and the staff was nice enough but we were promised things that were not produced and were not compensated as a result.
- Verified traveler (10/5): So nice - I got two double beds in the room which was ina building apart from lobby. It was quiet and spacious!
- Philippe (2/5): A nightmare in the middle of the forest - In this place, you will have the opportunity to share your room with a multitude of Mosquitos of all kinds. The owners do not have a clue of what an hotel is. So in the nice park outside the bungalows you will be able to enjoy the delicate view of linen drying at the wind or garbage bags left everywhere. If you are lucky all the lights will work . But we were not... The bathroom is a unique experience where you will enjoy the fragrance of moisture and humidity. Another tip, bring with you towels if you intend to stay more than one night since they will not be changed. Final tip, just consider this place if you are a camping fan and that you desperately search for a place to sleep. If you search for a decent hotel, don't stop there
- Verified traveler (6/5): Nice but isolated hotel - Good location for trips to Ek Balam and Chichen Itza, but otherwise this hotel is really in the middle of nowhere. The dining options at the hotel and surrounding villages are few and far between. The room was a little on the small side but clean and well maintained- bathroom, shower in particular, was pretty good.
- JG (6/5): Nice hotel; problematic service - We chose the hotel for its closeness to Chichen Itza and other sightseeing locations, and stayed for two nights in a hotel room in the main building. First the good things. The hotel structure is new, and accordingly the room furniture and general appearance of the hotel is very good. The bathroom is big and modern. The towels were nice as well. There were several things we liked less well. The water in the shower was cold, and our room was not made for the second night. In contrast to the room description, Internet is not accessible in the room, but only in a narrow area around the reception (but at least it worked well enough to fetch emails and to read some news). We did not like the restaurant. According to Hotels.com, breakfast was included. At first the hotel staff disputed that breakfast was included. Eventually, we were offered some coffee, one glass of juice, and six extremely tiny slices of baguette bread with some butter and jam. One day we supplemented the breakfast with a fruit platter which was quite bad. Finally, the location of the hotel is not very easy to find (without calling ahead and asking for instructions). When one drives from Valladolid, the hotel is on the right side of the street some kilometers after one passes the exit to "San Diego". Overall, we are reasonably pleased with the stay. The quality of the room was quite good given the price when one is not spending much time at the hotel; and we just had early lunch elsewhere.
- Brenda (10/5): Excellent option near Chichenitza - The place is very new and clean. The staff is very friendly.
- Ian & honey (8/5): Relaxing friendly stay near Chichen-Itza - Very friendly staff,. The bungalow is brand new and they are still 'settling in'. There was no fridge in the room for example but one was provided on request. The bed was huge and the linens beautiful. A lot of landscaping: the complex is very well maintained. The pool was great; we spent many hours with drinks by the pool. The restaurant was good but basic. The restaurant closes at 8. The TV had HBO and other premium channels which made my husband happy. Internet access was good but only available wireless close to reception/pool. Loved the peacocks in the garden! Chichen-Itza is 10 minutes drive down the road on which the hotel is built. There are two nice towns en route. BTW, return to Cancun via 180, not 180D. The 180 back road (free way) is a good road, avoids $30 US in tolls and takes you through real Mexican towns like Villadolid. Expect to be stopped a couple of time by police 'blitzes' - the roads are very safe as a result. Do not go on 180D without cash for the tolls and a full gas tank. There is nothing for 180 KM, in marked contrast with the free way which is always entertaining.
- Bill (8/5): peaceful and quiet and close to Valledolid - This is a new hotel just getting it's feet wet. The staff were very friendly and the rural location between Valledolid and Chichen Itza is lovely. We booked a bungalow but though the rooms are finished they still haven't quite finished the furnishings to make it feel totally comfortable. We suggested to the manager that there were still 3 things we would want on the rooms: screens on the sliding patio door so you didn't have to use AC; softer pillows; and, bedside table lamps. He replied that these were all things they were working on. This would be a perfect location for a wedding or family reunion... rent out all the rooms with the gardens, the pool and the restaurant all close by.
- Karen (8/5): - Brand new hotel, very convenient to Chichen Itza (15 minutes), allowing us to arrive at site well before the crowds from Cancun and Merida.
- Sue (10/5): Incorrect Review - Please note the review of February 20 that indicates this hotel is on Hidalgo is incorrect. This review has been posted for the wrong hotel.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great hotel, new and clean, the staff very friendly and helpful.
- Sue (10/5): Great Spot to See the Ruins - This hotel is conveniently located on highway 180 on the way to Chichen Itza (note not the 4 lane road, 180D). It is about a 20 minute drive to the ruins or Valladolid, and you pass through small towns on the way and at least one cenote for swimming. The hotel itself is beautiful, and the staff are extremely friendly though they do not speak much English. There are peacocks wandering the property, and the staff told us they will soon also have horses. Several villas were being built on the property too. The food at the on-site restaurant was amazing. Stayed here in mid-February, and it was very quiet there though I think because the hotel was new. It rained our last night there, and they even washed our car the next morning! Overall, very affordable and very nice place to stay.
- Sue (10/5): Great spot - This is a great affordable spot right in the middle of everything. While you enter from busy Hidalgo, you would never know it in the hotel. The pool area is tranquil and we heard no noise in our room. Also, having a kitchenette was great. We had coffee in the room every day and were able to keep fruit and snacks in the frig. I would highly recommend it.
- pk24fun66 (8/5): New in Town - Arrived at the Hotel late in the evening ... kitchen was closed but staff was excellent and offered options. Rooms were very nice ... this is a very new hotel - actually it had only opened a week earlier and we were the only visitors in the whole hotel that evening - and they had the hot/cold knobs in the shower reversed, but were aware of this and were going to get them corrected.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Brand new hotel... - in the middle of no where. Staff is very helpful.
- Wendy (8/5): Great hotel, locatioin isolated - The hotel, the service and the restaurant were excellent. Staff went out of their way to make my stay pleasant, however, without a car this hotel is difficult to reach and it is inconvenient to leave and visit surrounding areas.
- Chris (10/5): Brand new shiny clean hotel - Everything was wonderful! Comfy bed, thick towels, excellent hospitality, nice restaurant, beautiful pool. You do need a car if you stay here. This hotel is about midway between Vallolidid and Chichen Iitza. For us it was very convenient to stay there 2 days and visit both places, as well as Ek Balam. This hotel is an amazing value!
- Sam (10/5): Fantastic hotel with warm and welcoming staff - We stayed in the Grand Mayab for 4 nights to visit Chichen Itza and the wonderful cenotes 10 mins away. We enjoyed our visit immensely and were made to feel so welcome and looked after by all of the staff there - they truly made our trip.
We could catch the bus or a collectivo from right outside the front, and they even helped us with this.
The restaurant was excellent - the menu had local cuisine and things like burgers and club sandwiches. We had a bit of both and it was all delicious! Breakfast was fab too - especially the eggs al gusto!
Facilities were good - pool was lovely for a dip on a hot day and there were peacocks roaming around the garden. Beautiful arts and crafts and good shop too.
Our room was lovely and clean, with a huge bathroom and fantastic shower.
My partner and I really enjoyed this hotel - its in a quiet location, so not great for party animals, but absolutely excellent for a relaxing break and to visit the nearby wonders.
Really recommend it!
