- Anthony (2/5): - This was the worst stay i've ever had in a hostel. Kids/teens running through the halls, screaming, and slamming doors until 2 to 3 am, smoking in their rooms and setting off alarms at 1 am. The showers walls and floors are slimy and unclean. The toilets are always dirty with pee and poop including the pee being on the seats, walls, and floors (not an exaggeration). Horrible hostel with no chance of repeat business.

- Abigail (4/5): - If you need a bed, this works. It won’t be comfortable, but you will make it to the next day. I was traveling with my friend and as two females, we decided to get a private room with a bunk bed. What we got was very similar to a prison. The room is very very small, and the beds were probably two inches thick if I had to guess. The bathrooms were constantly clogged, even though they would be unclogged earlier in the day (this was a daily occurrence). The surrounding area is not bad at all and all in all, we did feel safe as two young women traveling. Like I said, if you just need a bed (or I guess a cot) this place is perfect for you.

No soap dispenser in the shower. Nowhere to put soap on shower. Remember to bring your own towels. You won't be able to see through the dirt on the windows. Bunks are comfortable and linen clean. But it is shabby

- Kelly (10/5): Great value hostel with a great staff! - This is an older hostel but is very functional. We had a room with our own bathroom/shower. The rooms are quite small but if you are spending most of your day out seeing the sights of London, the size of the room really doesn't matter. The staff is amazing and very friendly and helpful. If you are looking for luxury, then this isn't the place for you. If you want a functional hostel with easy access to public transportation at a great value, then Restup London is perfect. We stayed there during two different portions of our vacation and would do so again without hesitation.
- Daniel (8/5): - Property is located at what was an old school. My room was on the top floor which meant a good climb up each time i returned. It was just down the street from Elephant and Castle which has tube access to London routes. Weatherspoon has a decent dining area and at fair rates. There is bus service just a few steps from the front door which is very convenient. There did seem to be a bit of noise...both in the hall outside my door and from outside. Overall, not bad for the price. You do have to provide your own towels.

- Verified traveler (2/5): Tiny rooms, dirty, don’t recommend - I would not recommend this hostel to anyone. Your pictures are wildly misleading and inaccurate. The hostel rooms are completely ill equipped for anyone staying in them. There is nowhere to put your things, there isn’t a bin and there aren’t any hooks in the room. I don’t want to have to walk down 4 flights of stairs to get something out of a locker every time. Our room was for 4 people and it probably 6 foot by 8 foot including two sets of bunk beds. There was absolutely no room to move around. There was no character or personality to the rooms or corridors either, making it feel like a prison. Whilst I appreciate that hostels are notoriously the cheaper option and standards aren’t the same as a hotel, this was actually quite gross and uncomfortable to stay in. Given that we are in the height of summer and the temperatures were hitting 28, thick winter quilts were still on the beds and no way to get any air circulation in the rooms. The sink in the room was absolutely tiny. There was probably getting on for 40 rooms on one floor and only three female toilets and showers. They were dirty and once again, ill equipped to take a shower. Nowhere to put your stuff so everything gets wet. Out of the three showers, only one was actually useable. The light was broken in one and another didn’t lock. Having no kitchen facilities in a hostel is also very disappointing. It was about a 10 minute walk from Elephant and Castle station, so not a bad location.
- Lesley (2/5): The worst hostel experience ever - Do not book this place even though it seems cheap. This was the worst place to stay. Book at your own disappointed. The reviews must be fake. The below were some of the main issues, which im surprised not been mentioned by others: 1. Loud traffic all through the night (police, bikes, etc) 2. Hand dryers not working in the toilets 3. Toilets dirty 4. No proper cooling on a hot summers day 5. No pillow was provided (or taken by someone else) 6. Matresses were not even reasonably firm 7. No lifts into the building 8. Getting to the hostel felt like going through a sketchy area.

- Verified traveler (4/5): Would not recommend - I am not one to often leave bad reviews. I have stayed here for 6 nights overall and it has not been pleasant. Despite there being '24 hour security' no one seems to be monitoring who comes and goes- someone could easily pretend to be a guest and access the sleeping corridors/ shared bathrooms. Lots of older men staying on their own- so as a young female I’ve had a lot of encounters feeling uncomfortable/ being stared at during my visit. The lift is broken/ not in use so have to haul suitcases up 4 flights of stairs. We were allocated a room on the 3rd floor where the whole corridor smelled of poo as apparently the plumbing was broken, and the room had not been cleaned. Moved to a room on the first floor which also did not smell good, there is no ventilation and old windows… mould on the ceiling of the bathroom, no drain cover in the shower. The shower temperature wouldn’t change due to limescale build up, sinks are so small you can barely lean to use it. There aren't many hostel amenities- no cooking facilities or even a kettle. Water is sometimes provided in a pitcher that tastes a day old. Only one or two hairdryers shared across the whole hostel you have to ask for to use. If you are looking for a cheap place with fairly easy access to central London and are only staying a night, this place might be for you. But as a female solo traveller I would not recommend it.

I stated it was my first time in this hostel and I didn't the way around, He ignored me and didn't give instructions to get in the room ( another customer helped me), and most of all,he didn't give a lower bed as requested weeks ago in my booking. I explained a have mobility issues and can't clime the ladder to the top bed. I asked to this member of staff and he rudely said he could not do anything as the accomodation was fully booked however,when I awake this morning I noticed that there was a lower bed which was free all night. Not very nice.staff not very helpful,very unwelcome!!
- Thushara (4/5): Paying that bit extra for a hotel will be worth it - Was a very odd stay. The staff were not paying attention and there was also a lack of cleanliness in the public areas especially the bathrooms and showers. Rooms were also incredibly crammed and over heated!
- Aarsh (2/5): - This place should NOT be allowed to operate. It is completely uninhabitable. I booked RestUp for its Central London location, but it turned into a nightmare. Despite booking a 10-bed mixed dorm with a private bathroom, I was shoved into a cramped 12-bed room where I couldn’t even stretch my legs. The space between beds is so tight, I hit my head multiple times—seriously concerned I got a concussion. There’s ZERO ventilation. No AC, no fans, and most windows are sealed shut. I nearly suffocated in the summer heat and was told by staff that they could only crack open one tiny window. I explained I had breathing issues and asked for a better-ventilated room—flat-out denied. I ended up in the common area at night, only to find no air circulation there either. Luggage storage? A joke. Despite their website claiming free storage is available, I was charged £5 to store my bag BEFORE check-in. Never experienced this in any other UK hostel. It felt like a blatant cash grab. The rooms are disgusting. Dirty sheets, hair on the bedding, weird odors, bugs crawling around, and to top it off, mosquito bites and a clogged drain that took 2+ hours to clear. And yes, this happened TWICE—I booked here again only because everything else was full. Outlets? Barely work. My adapter only fit in a couple, and there were no USB ports anywhere. Keycards randomly stop working. Dining area was always closed, despite their claim of serving meals. They even changed the breakfast policy overnight and st

Turns out they had put me in a mixed dorm by mistake. When I raised this with the staff, they moved me to a 5-bed room — essentially a downgrade, which I did not agree to. The bed was extremely high and difficult to climb into, the bathroom was dirty, and the whole experience felt careless and unprofessional. I also requested a refund, but so far have received no response. Would not recommend this place based on how poorly they handled a basic booking and guest safety concern.

- Sarah (2/5): Couldn’t stay the night - When arriving at this hostel with my daughter we felt very unsafe in the lobby and community area. Our room was several floors up - there were people loitering in corridors and security patrolling. Our room felt like a prison cell - very small, it smelt and contained a rickety bunk bed that had a very thin mattress that would have offered no comfort. We decided to leave and found another place to stay. When we checked out we were offered another room but we felt too unsafe to stay. The hostel would not refund our money.

- Jimmy (4/5): - There no privacy in my room, no curtains. No light (or lamp), no power (electric) outlets near bedside. The light at the shower room was automatically turned off when there is no movement which i understood. But the light was off in the middle of the shower and it is co-ed,i can't go out turned the light on. The washroom on the second floor was flooded once, no toilet papers available. Everyone gathered around the lobby to charge his electronics. In addition, i asked on of the staff for beer drinking inside this building, he said 'No'. But someone drink beer which they bought from the store just acrosss the street. The only good thing I 5say is there is a LEBO restaurant across the street and it is very famous. I bought half boneless chicken with rice, it id only 8 pound, which is very good price compare crazy price in London. I am not sure to go back to London, however, i will not stay this hostel for sure.
- Ana Lis (2/5): Horrible - We booked a room with a bathroom, upon arrival I told reception that there was no light in the bathroom and they said yes, we'll see. When I arrived at night there was no light in the bathroom and at reception they told me, there's no one around now to check on that, the hostel is a dirty mess, all the rubbish on the ceilings, if you want towels you have to pay £5, they gave me a room on the fourth floor without an elevator, I understand it's a hostel but at almost £80 for a room with a bathroom in these conditions, and super far from everything, an experience that I don't recommend anyone go through.
- Latu (10/5): Beautiful, pretty cheap but some issues. - It's a hostel. Going into that is important to remember. I'm not comparing to a hotel level service. The good: the staff all seemed pleasant and helpful even when they couldn't give me what was promised. The building is beautiful and common areas are decorated very cute. Breakfast smelled good though we woke too later for it. There's outdoor space and a park next door which is rare for London. Once you get through the gate there's a pretty safe feeling. It's walkable from the tower bridge and plenty of public transport options. Now, the bad. The room was full of black specks on the clean white bed upon arrival which seemed to duplicate no matter what we did. Turns out the window was rusted away at the bottom of the window sill, which would explain the constant draft. The specks appeared to be from a mix of rust and bird excrement and feathers. We came in April, which is still rather cold some days and the radiator did nothing, so my guess is the boiler was turned off already. The deadbolt didn't prevent the door from being accessed from the outside. They charged me for towel rental before checking that they didn't have enough towels to give me. I don't know how many issues could have been fixed if we had asked for another room or more assistance. We ended up only staying 1.5 days & checking out and moving to another hotel. This morning (my original checkout day), I received a notice to checkout while aboard my plane. Remains to be seen if I'm actually checked out or not.
- Noemi (8/5): - Great staff, perfect location as the bus stops just outside. It was nice and quiet, and manageable but would have liked to have hot water for the shower and a heater or insulated windows in our room. It was in the 40’s at night in April and they had no heat:(.
- Phillip (8/5): - I stayed here a week, my first time in a hostel. The reception is always very friendly and helpful. I spent a lot of time in the common areas. I met some really nice people that were also staying there. They have lockers for 5£ per use. The beds were comfortable and clean linens. Very close to food options. I would stay here again.
- Mark (10/5): - A very large bright and breezy hostel. Focused happy and helpful staff. The building is a conversion not purpose built but you get everything you need. A good comfortable bed. Clean bedding. The third floor was a building site. A good place to hostel, near to the city. I walked to the river in 40 mins though buses were running at 5am .

- Tomasz (8/5): Good place for a London trip - Good location and quick check in. Small room with small bathroom but ok for the price. Room was clean. Bed was ok. Good for 1 night stay. Didn’t have a breakfast but have coffee and it was good ;) Place was busy and there was lots of people from around the world.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Wifi only in common area. Beds are not made, u have to make ur bed, yet it takes appearently 5 hours to "clean" ALL the rooms because u have to wait til exactly 3pm to check in. Reception staff has a dont care attitude. Plain rude.

It was however very inconvenient not having any outlets in the bedrooms. There should be charging areas in the rooms themselves, rather than the lounge, in the hall, or in the lobby area.

We could have had more pillows (we didn’t ask as we knew it was a hostel and basic conditions). There was a bit of noise but again understanding as it’s a building with a lot of people. overall a wonderful stay and would do again

The price is right, the opening hours are great, it is "family friendly" - no smoking/drinking, the location is convenient, the wifi works - but only in one of its (more than expected) public spaces, this is probably a helpful social "nudge". My early teen daughter and I stayed for a week and were happy with it.

- Zed (2/5): - This is the worse London property by far! First, I was given a wrong bed | room, then I was offered a broken bed with no curtains (the only one). Victor (Front desk) clearly mixed up my reservation and has given my bed to a fellow guest. When I complained, He goes TAKE IT OR LEAVE IT, WE FULLY BOOKED!!! So rude and disrespectful! Also, Very old building-poorly maintained, Communal Area was filthy, so the bathrooms. I had no choice but to ask him for a refund, however, he refused. I asked Expedia team to step in and help. He then lied claiming that there was nothing wrong with my reservation | bed, and I was happy to accept what he offered me. Stay away from these people and this property! I am still shocked how they can operate a business like this. Dishonesty, Poor treatment and Lack of hygiene and cleanliness. On the top of all this, they refused to issue me with a refund. Expedians, beware you are warned!
- Verified traveler (10/5): A nice simple hostel near a major subway station - Although there are not many attractions within the walking distance, it’s close to the Elephant & Castle metro station, and many bus lines pass through the area. So you should be able to get anywhere in London from here. Restrooms and shower rooms are well maintained. Staff members are very friendly. However note that there’s no lift, so you might think twice if you have a heavy luggage.
- Angel (8/5): Budget hostel - The beds are great and the area is very small to walk, I guess it reflects on the price. Sun outdoor area is dirty but the bathroom and showers are clean.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Run down. It is an interesting building, but not kept up. The toilets were not working so on a floor with 30 rooms there was one toilet for all the woman to share. The window in the room did not shut, so air and noise from the busy street came in. I have stayed in hostels before, and this is probably ok for single travelers, but not for families.

- Lawrence (2/5): - HORRIBLE, DO NOT STAY HERE! What kind of hostel has NO PLUGS for guest to charge their phones in the rooms? Puts 33 people in a room together? Had UNISEX bathrooms and showers? And you have to pay to store your own luggage. NO THANKS 👎👎👎👎. The staff was friendly, but this place is literally the BARE BONES of hostel living. I was so uncomfortable I wanted to cry, NEVER EVER will book or recommend this place to ANYONE!!!!

More like StressedOut - RestUp London, where you'll get NO rest!!..My sister and I booked a private room/private bathroom which was fine, it's a very small space but clean enough. Also note that you probably won't get any wi-fi in your room, only signal is in the common areas. The issue is that this hostel hosts teenagers in big groups, and in the 3-nights we stayed, there was a different group of 15-30 each night. The walls are so thin that you'll hear every door slam, foot step, and chatter - especially since it was all happening right outside our door. The noise was so bad on the 1st and 3rd night that I had to go down to the lobby to tell them about the issue, since nicely asking teenagers to quiet down 4 times did not work. If you book your stay at this hostel, just be aware of these things: 1. They don't provide towels, it's a 2.5 pound charge to rent them 2. They have security in the evening, but they don't monitor the halls/security cameras 3. If there are teenagers on your floor, guarantee that you will NOT be getting any sleep 4. You've decided that a cheap hostel is more important than a good nights' sleep 5. Wi-fi does not work in the rooms The only positive about this hostel is that it has good coffee (LaVazza) and it's close to many attractions.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - we paid extra for a bathroom and when we arrived we were not given a room with a bathroom, however the guy on reception (guy with longish hair mousy brown) was really nice and said we could have a free breakfast instead. Next morning went to get our free breakfast, the restaurant was empty and loads of food out but the lady working (who was really rude) tried to tell us we could only have certain items! Also they had no sauce. Hotel SUPER NOISY - no carpets you can hear every sound we were trying to sleep but being woken up constantly from 5am onwards. great location but thats all sadly

- Nguyen (2/5): Terrible stat - Horrible, somebody took my bed and put all their stuff on it. I was really tired and had to catch a coach early in the morning so I was really looking forward to get some sleep. However I needed to wait 40 min to get my bed cleared. As soon as I went to sleep, the same person came back and made noise with me like I was stealing their stuff and bed. The problem was because of the bed number. Some did not have number on it, some got half of the number sticker gone so it was hard to look for your bed in a dark room. I really recommend you guys to stick new number notes on the bed so it’s easier to take the right bed that you’re assigned to.
- Martin (2/5): Utterly diabolical - Absolutely appalling My booking was cancelled as I couldn’t make it on time Phoned twice to inform them that I would be late... no answer at the reception When I arrived at 8pm I was turned out onto the street I then went to the stay safe hostel who upgraded my stay and didn’t charge me after I explained what happened at the rest up. Would not recommend it at all
