Guest Reviews
- Verified traveler (2/5): - The Hotel is not like what was offered when I booked the room, the picture are not representative of the hotel. The place is not in good condition and is full of old stuff, the room’s door had no lock.
- Trevor H. (10/5): Great price and great location - The place needs some work.
- Juan (2/5): - This hotel is a scam. Nobody was waiting for us, no clean rooms were available. Hotel was dirty. Owner said the manager had left the day before hence the chaos. We moved to another hotel and the manager said he would not charge us. Turns out Expedia now says the owner did not approve a refund - we have been robbed. Avoid at all costs.
- Ricardo (2/5): - Hotel was in extremely dirty conditions; and rooms were not ready. There was trash and bottles of beer in the rooms. No staff available except for the owner who was very apologetic. We did not feel safe or comfortable staying there and had to look for another hotel. Unfortunately hotels can be very expensive if reservations are not made in advance. I spent COL$575.000 (US$197). I expect Expedia to not only refund me for the hotel del parque fees, but also something (points, refund) for the incremental expenses that I had to incur.
Pictures of hotel del parque when we arrived for check in are available if you need them.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Very nice family owned hotel in very good location - Felipe was an amazing host. He was always helpful and available to answer any questions. The room was available early and clean. The shower door might need a better cleaning, but other than that everything was very good.
- on-the-go (4/5): Needs cleaning - Pleasant owner. Dirty towel, tiny room, dirty floor, cobwebs...
- Ulrik (4/5): - Not a 3 star hotel, 1 star at the most. Our booking was prepaid and non-refundable. Nevertheless we turned on our heels and went away. Should be avoided.
- jenna (2/5): Not a hotel - More like a home stay. Booked 2 double rooms. One of the rooms was a dorm style room with dirty linen. Had to go get another room at another hotel that was suitable. Orbitz failed to refund the transaction. Will not be returning.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The room was not ready when we arrived to the hotel.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Cerca a la rumba / close to the nightlife - Nando was very nice and eager to help with any question we had. The AC worked great. Beds were good.
- roz (4/5): Good for backpackers - We came in and it was a mess!! The whole place smells like dog and cigar ..
There was a man acting very strange i think his the owner he was also a mess
- Sarah (6/5): - Stayed here for 2 nights and the owner is great! He is very kind, laid back and generous. However, the cleanliness of the facility is only average. The floors seemed to not be very clean and there were little details like the trash wasn't taken out when we arrived. However, there is a cool patio space with lots of artwork. The best part for me was how nice the owner was. He offered us free breakfast and did our laundry for free! It's a good place to stay if you are looking for something cheap next that is right on a central street where there are nice restaurant, travel agencies and the port near by.
- charles (10/5): Just what we were looking for - Quiet simple good beds and nice bathroom close to everything. The owner is quite helpful and does everything to make your stay as good as he can. Key West Fla atmosphere
- Verified traveler (6/5): Reservation problem at well-located small hotel - It started bad: there was no room for us despite of paid reservation. After 2 hours of frantic efforts, we got a room, thanks to courtesy of other guests. As compensation for nervous moments, we got free breakfast - a nice gesture. This is small hotel, well located in heart of Santa Marta. Our room was basic but OK, with A/C. Lobby area needs a bit of clean up.
Ingen morgenmad, men utallige steder ligen udenfor døren.
- trevor (8/5): Economical place to stay. Near entertainment. - Food and transportation very close and owner always available.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Rated too high - To start I walked by the hotel various times looking for it. The only sign visible on the building read Hotel. Once we realized that it was our hotel the staff that greeted us had us waiting at his drisk for at least 20 minutes while he fielded a couple of phone calls. I was tempted to call him from my cellular in order to get faster service. Once he finally attended us we entered a windowless closed in room with a television on at full volume. In spite of having prepaid we left to find a more uplifting place to spend the night. I was fooled by the high ratings on Bookings and want that others have another point of view in order to avoid getting lured into a disappointing experience.
- Verified traveler (8/5): small hotel in the middle of everything - The owner of the hotel showed me around, went together to Taganga beach, a 10 minute ride on the bus. While in Santa Marta I got stomach pains and the owner took me to a pharmacy nearby where I got proper medications. Very nice and helpful people!
- Niko y Kathy (10/5): Excellent Hotel, Amazing Owner! - We stayed here for 12 nights. What an amazing place to spend your Santa Marta days! Felipe, the owner, is a gem! He is ready to help you out with everything, from ordering food to calling a doctor (a couple staying there had food poisoning after dining in the city and Felipe called the doctor, who came at the hotel!). The place is ideally located: downtown, next (literally!) to Exito, a big super market, and 5 min. walk from the beach (the Bahia), while the Parque de los Novios is 50 m. away with all the restaurants and nice bars. Good internet wifi connection is available to everyone for free, while the rooms are spacious and tidy. Amazing hotel - will return when in Santa Marta again without any second thoughts.
- audrey (8/5): Very central location in santa marta - Very good hotel in central santa marta, right next to all the tourist bars and restaurants. Room was very comfortable for our first night stay in colombia. Slept very well. It is noisy next to the bars but we didn't hear the music over the air conditioning. We found it secure and clean, and the man on reception couldn't have been nicer, he was great.
- Paul (6/5): Budget hotel but doesn't meet basic expectations - As a budget traveler your expectations for a $50 a night aren't extreme. However most hotels in this price range, especially in a place like Colombia, should have running water, flushing toilets and functional internet.
Though though this hotel has charm and is in a great location, it's clear that they are in progress and inconsistent. While the owner and staff were helpful (which we were grateful for) something is amiss in or around the hotel's infrastructure and management.
Water pressure was extremely bad the first night and the sink in the bathroom did not work correctly. We were given a pitcher of murky water to use for the night.
The next morning we were told that there was a smaller room available for us. They moved our things and the new room was cozy though a little dirty.
That night there was a problem with the internet ISP and it continued through the rest of the stay.
The evening of our last day the toilet stopped flushing in the bathroom and water pressure was a problem again. The owner assured us that this was a problem caused by bad infrastructure in the city center.
Even at a budget price, the hotel did not deliver on some of the basic necessities. This hotel had very high reviews and it was challenging to understand the disparity. Having stayed in budget hotels around the world, this one is definitely near the bottom of my list.
- Ben (10/5): Beautifull hotel Felipe the owner superb - I stay with mi brother we really enjoy the hospitality Felipe took care of our needs and advice us were to go he got us a very good discount to ciudad perdida did our laundry help us with everything we ask thank you Felipe and the dog of the hotel enano is a beautiful company
- Jerry (8/5): Great tiny hotel with great service - The location of the hotel could be better--it's surrounded by nightclubs and cafes blaring loud music. It may not be the most comfortable walking area of the town.
However, the hotel overall is great. Bathroom is clean, albeit no hot water (Santa Marta smaller hotels rarely have hot water). Beds are comfortable and WiFi is sufficiently fast. Felipe, the owner, is also super nice, making himself available to help with anything. He also served us all complimentary breakfast in the morning!
- Jorge Café (8/5): Nice little hotel close to everything - My stay in this little hotel was very pleasant. The hotel is very clean and the staff is great, very friendly and ready to help with anything, including giving useful information and laundry service for (small fee). Felipe, the owner, is very nice and friendly, tool. Overall, I recommend this little hotel to all.
- Charles (6/5): Affordable, clean, modest - This hotel is basically what it claims to be: an affordable, clean, modest hotel in a good location of Santa Marta.
- Claus (10/5): very nice - Great little hotel in a lovely town.
- Luke (10/5): Hotel Owner is the best! - My girlfriend and I had a tremendous stay at Hotel Del Parque. From the moment we arrived on, the owner provided fantastic customer service for us. He speaks great English, which was a plus for me as I have limited Spanish skills. The hotel is located very close to Parque de los Novios, which had good restaurants and decent night life n the evening. It was also very close to the beach. My girlfriend and I were on our way to Parque Tayrona and we had brought a lot of luggage that we didn't want to bring to the national park. He gladly stored our things for us and others that were staying at the hotel. We enjoyed our first night so much that I planned on staying at the hotel once again after returning from the park and booked a night for a couple of days later when we planned to return. Because of weather, we decided to return a day earlier and thought we would try to see if there was any availability at this hotel. There wasn't, but he still accomodated us by allowing us to stay at his apartment very close to the hotel before the night of our reservation at a very affordable cost. This guy bent over backwards to make sure that my girlfriend and I had incredible customer service! This is a fantastic place to stay in Santa Marta or if you are just passing through to get to Tayrona or the Lost City!
- Klaudek (4/5): hostel not 3*hotel with good location - only cold water, a good Internet connection, poor English
- Tj (8/5): Great hotel in the center of Santa Marta. - Great location in the historic center near Parque de Los. Novios. Restaurants and bars all around the area.
Hotel staff was very friendly and willing to help us store our bags for 4 nights while we went to ciudad perdida.
Rooms have large flat screens and great AC.
Perfect hotel for us and our budget.
I highly recommend this place.
- Jay (8/5): Good central choice - Clean, well kept rooms with quiet, efficient aircon. Close to restaurants and bars. Despite many loud bars, the rooms are quite quiet. No hot water, but the water is warm. Remember, it's very hot here.
- Gabe (10/5): Nice little hotel, very well located! - It was a very nice little hotel, very well located. Nice staff and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. bed was hard but confortable.
- Ian (8/5): Good for the price - Very friendly, informative and helpful staff, especially the owner's father. Centrally located but can be noisy with music from local bars/discos. Furniture in poor condition (cupboard/drawers). Rooms surround a pleasant patio where there is a large fridge for residents' use.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Nice hostal - Hotel el Parque is in fact a small hostal. Rooms are spacious but full of beds, quite dark and don`t look like the picture on Expedia. There`s no hot water. Staff is very nice though, internet is excellent, there`s a huge tv screen if you like watching tv, the airco and fan are ok, and the place is close to everything in Santa Marta.
- Colleen (6/5): - Staff was very friendly and helpful. Location was very good. It is fire hazard to lock guests into the hotel. We complained, however the hotel did not change it's policy.
- andrewchum (6/5): Good location - Small bed. the ventilation windows rendered the air con useless. Lots of mozzies in the public area. But lots of cafés and lively streets nearby
- Verified traveler (10/5): BEST HOSPITALITY EXPERIENCE EVER!! - We only stayed here for two nights and the facilities are nice and the owner has done a nice job of turning this old home into a nice hotel. But this place has more than just a good look to it; It is the staff that makes this place 5star. I myself and my girlfriend both work at a 20star resort in the U.S and it is the genuine hospitality of the staff that Forbes uses to take a property. From a 4 to a five star rating, and I would have to say that they truly care about their guest, not just while there patrons but for the whole stay in Santa Marta. We had numerous personal issues while staying here as well with the airlines but I will not bother you with that. The point being is that once Felipe knew there was a problem, himself and his staff went above and beyond to help resolve the problem, while also consoling us with all the means at there disposal. I must say I truly feel as though we have made some unforgettable friends here and would never imagine staying anywhere else in Santa Marta. Because the experience we had here was better than any luxury hotel I've ever set foot in. Thank you Felipe and your staff for a unforgettable time in Santa Marta.
"ITS NOT THE EXPERIENCES IN LIFE. ITS THE PEOPLE WHO CREATE THE EXPERIENCE"
- latin crew (6/5): Staff - The staff was amazing specially the guy on the door. Great person
- Verified traveler (2/5): Expensive and bad - This is one of the worst hotels, for the place in which it is ubicated is too expensive, I just spend one night, then I found a lovely, nice and new hotel cheaper, with breakfast included and a nice ubication!!
I will never recommend it ir come back!!!
- Kevin (8/5): Nice place and staff - The owner is always on the property to help with any questions and give you ideas of things to do. Three bars just a few doors down and a block from the square and about ten restaurants.Had nice stay.
- Deah (8/5): Cute little place in Santa Marta - Hotel del Parque is a very small, clean hotel in the middle if the city. It is four blocks from the ocean, one block from a nice plaza, and one block from the big cathedral. Felipe, who checked us in, was very helpful in assisting us with everything from food to laundry. The air conditioner was very noisy but they were going have it looked at when I mentioned it. I would stay there again for sure.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Close to all you could need - Hotel del Parque is 3 blocks from the beach, 2 from the supermarket, and surrounded by hip bars and places to eat. Staff is friendly rooms clean. Will definitely be staying with them again!
- Moley (2/5): not good - A very small hotel. Very small bedroom with no window that was dirty, The air conditioner did not work. no hot water, no room service, towels and bed linens were not very clean. I decided to stay with friends rather than sleep at this hotel
- Verified traveler (6/5): Cute, Compact and Close to Park - Locked gate entry from the slightly quieter, street. Very cute little place with small courtyard for morning coffee. Flowers in pots on wall, hammock, and minimal but tasteful decor. Access to fridge in kitchen if needed. Laundry line in the back, to hang your handwashing. Spanish only spoken. Access to the nearby park and several good restaurants was part of the appeal. Room was not clean. The floor had hair and dust rolling about and the mirror was very smudged. The bathroom was cleaner with cool shower water and 2 smallish sized towels. We had to ask to have clean towels and have the floor vacuumed. We stayed 3 nights and in spite of the cleanliness issue, I did like this little place.
