Guest Reviews
- Michelle (7/5): Fantastic location close enough and quiet to sleep. - Location. Clean linen and kitchen. Thought it could be cleaner mould in grout in unit bathroom and steps entering building.
- Pam (3/5): Will never stay here again, very substandard, old and in need of major improvements. Over priced for what it was, woul - Location Stained curtains, dirty old uncomfortable couch, bad pillows, synthetic cheap blankets, lack of glassware (this was quickly supplied when requested along with broken hair dryer). Very slow lift, took forever to move only 2 floors!
- Julie (6/5): Good location. - Excellent location Spa had no water, just 5cm of brown slime. Sauna was locked, so could not access.
- Una (5/5): Location was good - Location Place needs renovating
What is with the lock on the door that doesn’t work
Large cracks in wall needs repairing
Curtains need replacing
Mould in shower needs to be cleaned
Drawers in vanity need replacing, whole vanity needs updating
Toilet stained
Couch very uncomfortable
Only one blanket unit was cold
Pillow covers stained -need replacing
- Timothy (10/5): -
- Mark (5/5): Great location and good facilities. Nice place but needs a bit of attention. Needs some money spent on it to bring it up - Great location The Bed was extremely uncomfortable. Springs digging into our backs.
- dean (8/5): -
- Troy007 (9/5): -
- Brenna (8/5): Great - How close it was to everything The dryer didn’t work well and there was only 2 towels for 2 people for 5 dates. The floors felt a little gritty
- Lara (10/5): - It was a good location, 10 minute walk from major shops and buildings. Good water, TV, kitchen and bed. N/A
- Michelle (4/5): -
- Linda (8/5): Pleasant and comfortable - Position Lack of amenities eg salt pepper, paper towels, tissues. Stove needs replacing as it doesn’t heat very well. Knives need sharpening. Pillows need replacing. Power point in bathroom is faulty- sparks when I tried to plug in something and generally dodgy. Dustpan and brush needs to be provided. Had to clean out washing machine of powder cemented in the middle agitator and had to clean lint collector at bottom of agitator
- Quinto (5/5): Not comfortable - Near by the sea A little bit untidy in the room.
- Barry (8/5): -
- Stephen (7/5): - Central Need a refit
- Benny (8/5): - Location There were a lot of cockroaches and the metal track in the middle of the room for the folding door was a trip hazard and very painful to step on and the piece of carpet there to cover it was not very helpful
- Di (5/5): Our Holiday - The location was excellent. The unit was smaller than expected. The cooking facilities weren't great. There was mould on the curtains as well as light through the whole unit so you were awake early every morning. The pool didn't look very nice.
- Patricia (8/5): -
- Geoffrey (3/5): I did enjoy my holiday as I wasn’t going to let all of the negatives ruin it. yes I will go back to Broadbeach but you c - Location was excellent, easy walk to beach, Bar/Restaurant, shopping centre and public transport.
Apartment was a good size and had everything you needed and was clean. One of the first things I look for when booking accommodation is what facilities that are offered (Eg. Pool, Spa, Gym, Sauna, Restaurant/Cafe etc) and I was looking forward to staying at Santa Anne by the Sea for that reason.
I was looking forward to using the Sauna, then pool and finally the spa in that order to help with my aging bodies aches and pins and trying to get a little bit fitter including my 2 beach walks daily. Imagine my utter surprise and disgust when I first saw those facilities.
Unfortunately I couldn’t access the Sauna due to it being locked and not working, the Spa didn’t have water in it and had been out of action for over 6 months according to some permanent residents that I spoke to and the barbecue was a health disaster. (Refer to photos). A couple of permanent residents also told me that the Sauna and barbecue had been out of action for ages also.
Then there was the somewhat hard mattress on which did me discomfort sleeping each night. I actually put the two blankets on the bed to lay on to help with a bit more comfort. Having a 1 hour massage with dry needles on my back twice during my stay helped me immensely.
- Tasha (5/5): - Great location, residents who lived there were friendly and the outdoors was kept lovely Furniture needs to be upgraded in the unit I was in. There were actually no staff, and information on the walls was clearly outdated. The unit needed a really good clean, mould on windows, needed a really good mop, walls need to be wiped down, spa and elevator was not working and this was not advised when booking
- Haylie (5/5): -
- Ratu (10/5): - Location was great. Appartment was clean. Had everything we needed
- Natalie (7/5): -
- Aldo (3/5): Not very good - 3rd room was suitable. 1st 2 rooms not clean or ready
- leon (1/5): Full of cockroaches - The location It was filled with cockroaches it was bad needs an exterminator
- Brown (2/5): - Not very clean, curtains were water stained, mould in the bathroom, cigarette burns in carpet and stains on the kitchen bench.
There was a dog in one of the rooms that barked and cried for 2 hours one of the nights.
The pool is not heated.
Very disappointed in our stay as we stayed there 10 years ago, it was much better than it is now.
- TOEGINO (7/5): -
- Singh (5/5): -
- Roberta (2/5): - Street It was dirty, cockroaches crawling around , the property hadn’t been cleaned from previous occupants, dishwasher hadn’t been emptied, sundries hadn’t been replenished. There was a consistent funky smell in the room, A/C filters obviously hadn’t been cleaned in some time.
The shower hand held head was squirting from multiple directions and the mixer tap was damaged therefore making it difficult to adjust.
- Andy (4/5): - location cleanliness
- Jessica (10/5): -
- Amy (7/5): Comfortable for the period of time we were there - Great location
Good amount of space
Value for money was good Needed a lot of updating, looked tired
Staff helpful to a certain point, ended up leaving a bag of clothes in the room or so we think and never got a reply from the team, very disappointing, all we wanted to know was if they were there or not
Reception closed the whole time, no one there for the full 10 days we were there
- janet (9/5): - Having to go to a hotel around the corner to get the key,and not know until we got there, should have been emailed about it before we got there
- Patrick (1/5): - The location near the beach and near the center It was mole in my room, and it was a bad smell in the building
- Emily (4/5): -
- Tayla (10/5): - It was a 2 minute walk from the beach, absolutely beautiful location and would definitely recommend to anyone staying by themselves or with family The lifts were a bit slow and hard to contact the staff
- Joanne (4/5): - Smelly and very untidy on the outside .. needs desperately updating … good location tho … old and outdated
- Valine Bergsholm (4/5): Not great quality for the pricing, fine to sleep in if you’re not bothered by sharing with roaches and black mould. - It was a nice size, suuuper nice location, quick walk down to the beach and to Broadbeach South, very central location. Bed was comfortable and the balcony was a decent size with a surprising amount of sun reaching it. The pool didn’t look very clean, so I did not have a swim. Carpets probably need a deep cleaning, couch too. The couch smelled like urine and felt like it was dirty to the touch. The pull out bed from the couch was also broken on one side which made it unstable. Freezer had ice built up in the back, so it didn’t actually freeze the food you put in. There were cockroaches in the bathroom, super gross. There was also black mould on the curtains, in the shower, on windowsills as well as on the "wall" that you can use to split the living room and bedroom. Overall felt very musty and unclean. Price list for extras were also weird, it is a hotel after all, so you would expect to get toilet rolls included in your stay?? I was not told beforehand that the reception is on the neighbouring street either, so I sat in front of the building all confused, phone numbers didn’t work, but got help from neighbours.
- Jane (1/5): Great location, everything else tired, dirty or broken - Great location, walking distance to shops, pubs, casino, beach. Near new washing machine and dryer. Very safe with fob security, good air conditioning/heating Not enough space to document all the issues, worst ones were the mould on bedroom ceiling and bathroom walls, cracks in the walls, dirty curtains, no on-site representatives or maintenance people, no instruction booklets for microwave, TV, griller etc, no balcony furniture, broken lock on balcony door, cutlery provided was pathetic (1 only traspoon, 2 knives and forks), glassware provided pathetic (1 only water drinkng glass), flexi hose to shower leaking, hair dryer not working
- Andrea (6/5): -
- Lynn (3/5): Awful unit, dirty, in desperate need of updating - Location, close to the beach, shops and restaurants Very old unit in desperate need of refurbishment, very dirty, uncomfortable bed and lounge, dirty carpet.
- Dianne (8/5): - The lift was way too slow
- Kristen (8/5): -
- Christopher (6/5): Disappointed cost me more money to move to the Ritz resort - Did not stay was not impressed at first sight dated bad smell
- Irene (5/5): Has potential but I wouldn't stay again. - The location is really good, close to the beach, Pacific Fair, Oasis Centre and lots of food options. New washing machine and dryer. Bed reasonably comfortable. Unit 13.
Oh, the lift. It's working but as someone said the slowest lift in Australia. The new building manager explained its a good old lift, a part broke, spares no longer made. New part custom made and to minimise wear and tear on the same part, it's set really slow. I brought up several worrying issues with the room manager. He promised to take it to the owner to try and get something done. All issues have been detailed in previous people's reviews. I'd check to see if these issues have been dealt with before booking. At over $200 a night, it was way overpriced.
- Sharon (4/5): Although it was close to where we needed to be, I would not stay there again. I was not happy with the price charged for - It was an easy walk to Broadbeach for the festival so we could go back-and-forth as much as we wanted The lift in the property was so slow that it was cricket walk upstairs which I couldn’t do because I have a bad knee. The unit was actually not the cleanest. It was dirty. It was old. The fridge made a horrible fan made a horrible noise at night. The TV remote did not work when we got there and we had to get the Manager to come back twice to fix it. The couch smelt the carpet was dirty. Just did not feel comfortable and at home.
- Aim'ee (7/5): Good -
- Dominica (10/5): Exceptional - Nearby to the beach and shops
- John (7/5): Good -
- Mthandazo (7/5): Overall great place, quite location - Convenient location closer to shops, convention centre and the beach A bit more cleaning would have gone a long way
- Overton (7/5): Good - Location Couch and carpet not good and had a smell
- Bernadette (9/5): Great location. Good clean apartment with most needs met. Would stay again - Location was fabulous! Walking distance to the beach, Broadbeach town centre, entertainment centre, public transport and Pacific Fair Minimal cooking utensils. No frying pan. Had to cook steak in a saucepan
- Desley (4/5): Quiet location - The location was pretty good - it seemed reasonably close to transport & shopping centres. And the area was pretty quiet. The smell of the carpet was disgusting, smelt of wee. Husband found items under the bed & in the 2 seater lounge, and also dirty dishes in the dishwasher that seem like they'd been there for a fair while. The bottom halves of the curtains had mould on them - which, for me, being an asthmatic, was NOT good. The reception was unmanned when we tried to check in.
- Tammy (10/5): Great place service awsome would come back to this place again - Close to beach and shops easy to get to from highway N/a
- Shelley (5/5): Passable - Location, parking No staff on site, supposed to be a no smoking place but man in room next to us constantly smoking in room and it stunk out the place badly. It was disgusting. No face cloths supplied, big cracks in wall by TV, looks like a subsidence issue which needs to be addressed. Very tired apartment, needs updating.
- Claude (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ken (3/5): Poor - Location Poor response to issues with unit eg. Broken sofa lounge and chair for dinning table. No receptionist for the bulk of my stay. Zero response when left message with mobile number supplied. Only call back was to see if they could gain entry to the room after being there for 5 days. Reminded them of issues still nothing done about it. I would not recommend to friends
- Fiona (8/5): Would stay again as the positives way out do the negatives as they are easy to fix as very minor. - Best location, very comfortable, great price Freezer didnt work - needed to be defrosted. Icecream I bought melted and had to get thrown out.
Lighting in kitchen didnt work kept flickering. Just as well I didnt suffer from epilepsy as it woud have pushed anyone in epilepsy into having seizues.
No toilet paper had to ring to get some delivered.
- Chrissoula (1/5): Don’t stay here. Better options elsewhere - Nothing We have had to leave the property and purchase other accommodation given the horrible state and misleading information on the website.
There were multiple issues with the property including:
- The accommodation was advertised with a sauna and spa these were not available or in service
- There was a hole in the bathroom wall as if someone had punched/kicked it in
- There were cracks on the walls
- Outdoor furniture was rusted and unable to sit outside
- The lift was working only half the time and we had to carry luggage up and down the stairs which is not safe
- The reception was not staffed and I couldn’t get any support with my issues
- We stayed in unit 7 and the photos on the website look nothing like the apartment we were in. It was much smaller and appliances were not practical to use to cook
ect.
- Shama (2/5): - both hubby n i very ill from stay..so much dust and mould. we are both off work for a week!!!! ive paid $130 a night at a motel nearby in the recent past and had better conditions. your bed didnt even have a proper mattress protector. most places have a topper to disguise bad matress but not at yours. the sofa/sofabed needs to be disposed.... are average weight couple and it sank so badly. we had to use spare blanket to cover before sitting on it. did u even know your curtains are mouldly and can cause serious inhalant harm. Just like my husband n myself. ive lost a weeks wages now!!!!!!!!
- Wright (5/5): Passable -
- Costa (4/5): Disappointing mainly through lack of service. - Room was adequate and bright Lift broken for total duration. Owners indicated it would be fixed in a couple of days. No offer to help elderly couple with suitcases 3 stories. No update on repair. Swimming pool never cleaned full of leaves etc. Someone Smoking regularly outside and coming through our doors. Reception never open.
- Karadimos (4/5): Good location but very old and uncomfortable place - The location was good The elevator wasn’t working and we were on the third floor, this was annoying because my husband and I both have hip issues
It would have been nice to be notified of this issue as nothing was mentioned,
Also the reception is barely manned so I had to constantly email for answers
The bed was okay but the couch was very uncomfortable and cheap, no oven or microwave
- Annette (7/5): Good - Downstairs, because lift wasn't working the whole week we were there. Dark unit. No sunshine. Clothes dryer was heating but no air as fan not working. Could be dangerous as could overheat easily. Spa not working first 4 days there. TV far too small for unit.
- Helen (6/5): - Great location, basic room, clean but could use an update. Lift out of action atm so we got some steps in. Reception only open on the last day and he seemed lovely. We were sent communication via email for all our needs re check in and check out.
- Michelle (1/5): Bad - Location only. One star ☆
Walking distance to Beach, Shops, Restaurants, Casino ONE STAR ☆ We did not like one thing. Lift doesn't work. Filthy parking bay for the week we were there. Carrying luggage and shopping from basement up 3 flights stairs to level 2. Run down hallways. Badly marked and damaged walls. Broken light fitting in bathroom. Stains on carpets, curtains, bedding (yuk). Grotty couch and very uncomfortable. Everything well overdue for an update. Dirty drawers with food crumbs in it. Dirty cups in cupboard. Shower and kitchen need a damn good scrub clean. Very basic. No staff on site, no reception. Owner located a street away. Would not go near spa or bbq area, very uninviting. Avoid room 13. Worst condition I have seen.
- Cheryl (10/5): Exceptional - It was nice and handy to everything I was pleased to be on the ground floor because the elevator wasn’t working the week I was there
- Pamelaranne (7/5): Very run down property. Needs refurbishment - Location. We have stayed at Santa Anne many times. It's very tired now. A kitchen cupboard door was hanging off. Washing machine base was visibly rusted. One tube of shampoo/conditioner only. 3 toilet rolls ok.
- Skye (1/5): Bad - The room was not clean to standard. The shower had mould and the floor in the apartment felt gritty/not mopped. There was someone's else's underwear left behind the curtain and there is more clothing (underwear or socks) under the bed. Definitely did not like the fact that there is a gym facing directly across into the bathroom. People running on the treadmill looking straight into the bathroom window. There is no outdoor setting to sit on the balcony, and the view from the balcony was very average. Definitely not worth the $716 for the 4 nights accommodation we paid for. In fact, we were that disappointed that we only stayed ONE NIGHT packed up our belongings and found alternative accommodation for the rest of our stay making us out of pocket an extra $660 for accommodation. Would be nice if we could be reimbursed for some of the cost considering the circumstances.
- Matthew (2/5): - First, a warning... They take a photo of the front and back of your credit card when you check in.
The place was absolutely disgusting. I stay in the Gold Coast quite a bit and thought that this time I would just stay in an ok place and nothing fancy.
Stayed on the first of March for 2 nights. Had to leave after the first night and book a different place because of a strong smell of urine and a solid chunk of human waste that was left on a spare blanket.
Advised that they should be in contact with me about compensation. they never called.
I got Expedia to contact them about a refund. They refused.
The place is gross. So gross that I had to book another place to leave this place for my second night. It was actually that bad.
And they clearly accept this as standard because they wouldn't even entertain even a partial refund.
There's a group of about 5000 people all around Australia that travel to the Gold Coast several times every year to attend business events. I'm going to make sure they stay clear of this dumpster fire.
- Raymond (5/5): not good value for money. we will look elsewhere in future - good location close to beaches and shops lift very very slow. microwave had to be washed and cleaned before use.
- Jonathan (2/5): Never again. - Location was fine. Only one key. No microwave. No reception attendance. Unbelievably old slow lift. Large balcony but no furniture. Not worth the tariff.
- Robert (9/5): Superb -
- John (8/5): Very good - Good location, small unit block. Light switch needed repair, which was organised efficiently.
- David (6/5): - Not as quiet as expected
- CHRISTINE (6/5): - Received no information about how to get in.
Lift very slow and broken down when I wantedto leave which meant that I had to rely on another guest to finish pacling and bring my gear down.
Receiption not open when advertised.
- Carol (1/5): Bad -
- James (7/5): Good - Comfy bed Slow lift. Unable to use dishwasher.
- Paul (2/5): - When we arrived we had an apartment allocated that was very dirty but absolutely stank of long term cigarette smoke it permeated everything and in fact the whole complex stank. They offered another apartment and this one had not even been cleaned. One lady from another one of their resorts came and did her best but the kitchen was flithy, the drawers were flithy and had food scraps in them. The cooktop was in such bad condition did not use it. This is room stank as well just not as bad. A drawer under the bed was out and broken on the floor and one window by the bed had no curtain so you could see straight into the bed. On further review the air con unit on the deck had rubbish under it clearly no one had even bothered to check it and had not done so for a while. Management sorted the drawer and curtain but took some of the deck rubbish but clearly did not really care. We spent the 1st 2 days cleaning and had to buy air freshners to get the atmosphere right. Old facility needing major maintenance including the slowest lift ever experienced, extremely dissatisfied with accomodation and have asked them what they are going to do about it was not up to standard for money paid and we are chasing for a partial refund. Summary terrible and apart from lady first day complacent staff. They said would review refund request never came back. We have been to the Gold Coast frequently much better options, avoid this property.
- Dean (10/5): Exceptional -
- Corey (8/5): Very good -
- Shamira (9/5): Comfortable and convenient - That is was central quite and clean! Just really easy Nothing everything was good
- Paul (1/5): Disgusted in this place - Not much tbh over priced and room was way outdated appliances were as old as jesus and there was no plates or pan . The place was filthy and the room stunk the BBQ was disgusting outside . . Don't use the lift it took 25 minutes to go up one level .
The dishwasher took 14 hrs to do a wash
- Debbie (3/5): Poor - Review. We chose Santa Anne by price. Cheapest price and it was available at short notice . Location was good. Close to beach and the Oasis mall. Apartment so so tired. Fridge the only new item since its build , everything else so tired and so old. This should have come with a warning. Both lamps beside the bed didn't have bulbs nor the ceiling fixture. Had to wait several minutes for the receptionist to arrive from a street away to check us in. Called him back to have put in bulbs so we could see. The deck was filthy with dirt and worms from the recent storm.. Very very nervous with booking.com now, may not do it again
We always get an economy room with problems booking.com!! You should remove yourselves from this property
- Natsumi (7/5): Good -
- Georgie (8/5): Very good -
- Ian (7/5): Good -
- Steven (8/5): Very good -
- Kerry (6/5): Pleasant - Location The sofa was terrible, we couldn’t sit on it even with cushions, it was sway bottomed and definitely needs an upgrade.
- James (5/5): Average, but Disappointing for the $895 cost for 4 nights stay. I'll go elsewhere next time. - Distance to beach and attractions. Washing facilities.Electronic keys worked well. air con had black mould in it, couldn't use it. chests of drawers smelt mouldy/musty, no way you could put your clothes in it. Supposed to be 2 bedroom, but the there was a concertina timber partition which pulled out from the wall to make second room. Second room was sofa bed and also in the lounge. Never saw anyone at reception.
- Michael (10/5): Very pleasant - Very spacious unit with all required amenities and great wifi The lift was scarily quiet and soooooo slow. [Perhaps a notice referring to the lifts peculiarities?]
We solved the problem by not using it for day to day purposes
On departure we loaded all our heavy stuff in - I selected basement - then departed the lift😂
I then was reacquainted with our belongings in the basement after walking down the stairs😇
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Very basic old style accommodation. Too much outdoor lighting at night. Blockout drapes did not fully fit the openings. Thrre was no natursl light during the day due to the tall builing next door. Barbeque had been out of order for sometime but there wss no mention about it. Web info says to contact using given numbers, but they did not work at any time. Had to look up their website for email. Reception was never open.
- Paul (7/5): Good -
- John (8/5): Very good -
- Richard (7/5): Good - Location location.location Bed
- Pavel (7/5): Great getaway place. - Location, location, location. Everything is super convenient and close by. Love the ocean access and the shops nearby. The parking is great as well as the room size. There were two of us with sometimes different errands. Unfortunately, the place offers only one set of keys which is not good at all. I hope the hotel will resolve that issue, as it is not suitable for many.
- Cedric (8/5): Very good - Location Office open part time
- Werner (8/5): Very good -
- Michael (8/5): - Good location, with comfortable until layout. A very quick walk to the beach and many local dining options, including the local surf club.
