• Petra (9/5): Super - Die Unterkunft ist ideal für die erste oder letzte Nacht in Costa Rica gelegen – nur etwa 10 Minuten vom Flughafen entfernt und über eine gut ausgebaute Straße erreichbar, was besonders bei einer Anreise im Dunkeln sehr angenehm ist. Ein kleiner Supermarkt sowie Geldautomaten befinden sich ebenfalls ganz in der Nähe. Wir wurden am Abend unglaublich herzlich vom Besitzer empfangen und direkt mit vielen hilfreichen Informationen versorgt. Zur Begrüßung gab es sogar noch ein Bier. Die Betten waren sehr bequem und unser Auto konnten wir sicher in der Garage parken, sodass wir nicht alles ausladen mussten. Am nächsten Morgen hat uns die Besitzerin trotz unserer sehr frühen Weiterreise ein liebevoll zubereitetes, reichhaltiges und ausgesprochen leckeres Frühstück auf der Terrasse serviert. Besonders hervorheben möchten wir jedoch die Herzlichkeit und Hilfsbereitschaft des Besitzers. Er hat sich viel Zeit genommen, uns zahlreiche wertvolle Tipps für unsere Reise durch Costa Rica zu geben. Gerade für den Start unserer Reise war das unglaublich hilfreich und wirklich etwas Besonderes. Man merkt sofort, wie viel Herzblut hier drinsteckt. Wir haben uns vom ersten Moment an wie zu Hause gefühlt – familiär, persönlich und einfach rundum herzlich. Vielen Dank für diesen tollen Start unserer Reise 🙏

Helpful, friendly hosts who recommended where to eat when we arrived. There was a good selection of restaurants within a ten minute walk. It felt like a safe area. We really appreciated the wine and beer when we arrived sorry a long journey! Really close to the airport. Thank you for the generous gift of the vintage bird book for my husband 🩷 Nothing of note.
• Raphaele (6/5): Not the luxury I was expecting - The house is beautiful. I liked the upstairs patio area and the quiet neighbourhood. The breakfast was nice and Miriam was really lovely and helpful. I met with the family the first night and was greeted kindly and offered a cold drink. That was very nice to have after a full days bus ride across the country. The room was overall comfortable enough. I had higher expectations after reading the reviews. I hadn't realized that they were selling and moving at the end of the month, and so things felt a bit in disarray. My room felt empty, there were only screws in the walls where art used to hang. Laurie seemed as lovely as the reviews but she ended up being quite busy when I arrived and so we only got to exchange a few words before she took my payment. I believe I was overcharged by 15USD and, to my fault for not checking my online reservation, I didn't say anything until I realized after the fact. It was very expensive for a place that is currently in transition (moving). I understand it is an old house and this is part of the charm, but the bathroom felt very outdated and the sinks really smelled so I had to keep the door shut when not using it. The bed felt like an old spring bed and everything felt clean but it wasn't the most comfortable sleep for $189CAD. I had just come from a Parrot rescue where the birds had better breakfasts than I usually do, and seeing their Amazon parrot under the stairs left my heart aching. I was expecting to pay myself a bit of luxury for my last night in CR and left feeling a bit disappointed.

Die Gastgeberin ist super nett und herzlich, man fühlt sich sofort willkommen. Tolle Lage, ein gemütliches Haus mit viel Charme und ein sehr leckeres Frühstück mit frischen Früchten. Wir haben uns rundum wohlgefühlt und kommen gerne wieder! Keine Klimaanlage, was zu dieser Reisezeit in San José aber auch nicht notwendig war

• Pascal et Yasmina (10/5): Super séjour 👍👍 - Nous sommes trompés le jour de notre arrivée du au décalage horaires et Lorie à eu la gentillesse de nous préparer une chambre tardivement. De plus, elle nous a offerte du guacamole avec des chips et une boisson. Trop cool! Le petit déjeuner était excellent avec de bons fruits et tout ce qu'il faut. Nous avons rencontrés un couple très gentil, Michael et Bobbie avec leur petit chien Djj. Nous avons vu des écureuils, un grand iguane, un beau perroquet vert et incroyable, au moment de partir, un Quetzal est apparu dans le jardin. Lorie et son personnel sont d une gentillesse exceptionnelle. C était reposant et agréable comme à la maison. Trop top! Dommage, à notre retour les chambres étaient toutes réservées.

• jane (10/5): Perfect ending to 3 weeks in Costa Rica - The property is in a quiet neighborhood near the airport. The host Laurie is so special! She knows her guests have had a long travel day and offers them refreshments. She had plenty of dinner recommendations and even went out with us to her favorite restaurant. She is so loved in her community. It is one of a kind place . Miriam is great and the breakfast is unhurried. The news she is retiring so we won’t have a go to place

The comforting drinks and fresh snacks when we got there were amazing. All the foods were so fresh and delicious. They brought fresh water and glasses to the room and shared with us about places to dine for dinner in the area. They were a wealth of knowledge and it all felt very comfortable. The property is beautiful!!! The breakfast in the morning was also delicious. Great food and company! I would definitely recommend staying here and would love to go back.

This is a lovely, cosy, home-like place with a beautiful big terrace to relax on and a backyard that is visited by wildlife including parrots, squirrels and iguanas. Laurie and Miriam really took care of me, including being invited to join for a wonderful Christmas lunch with friends. The rooms are very comfortable, impeccably clean and the breakfast is generous and delicious. I highly recommend this welcoming, friendly BnB.

I highly recommend Cariari bed-and-breakfast.. The only thing I could think of is probably this beautiful place does not need a TV. There’s plenty of things to do to see or sit on the patio, etc..

• Salla (6/5): - Cozy, family type b&b. The hosts were very nice, friendly and helpful. The house and facilities are outdated (house and neighbourhood built in the 80s). The online description did not quite match the reality: there were no restaurants, bar or spa on property. Breakfast was wonderful. If you don't like "cold hotels", this is your place.
• Ira (9/5): Super friendly host and staff - Our host was super friendly and helpful in every way, and the staff did everything possible to make our stay comfortable. The location is only a short walk to a number of good restaurants and a supermarket, which was very convenient. We booked a larger room, which had plenty of space. Our room was upstairs with no elevator, but the staff helped us up and down with our luggage. The cooked to order breakfast was great and many choices were offered. In almost every way, our stay was like a visit to a nice friend. This is an older property, not modern, but was well-maintained except for some lights which didn't work in our room. The shower in our room required going up and down a few steps, which may be challenging for some people.
• David (10/5): - This has become our go-to place in San Jose. It's near the airport and transportation is available. The people are great hosts, and the rooms are cozy and comfortable.
• Debbie (10/5): Exceptional - This was a gem of a stay! The owner and staff were so friendly and accommodating, even when our plans changed. We enjoyed their hospitality and the comforts of a unique home. The breakfast was amazing, and they even provided wine and snacks on the beautiful patio in the evening. We walked about 400 meters to a grocery store and a variety of restaurants - very safe area. About 20 minutes from the airport (plus a little traffic at the busy times). The room was comfortable and met our needs.

• Lisa (9/5): Cariari B&B is a charming, historic property in a great, safe location with lots of nearby amenities - The breakfast at Cariari B&B was exceptional, with lots of fresh fruit, yogurt, excellent bread, and eggs cooked to order. Both Laurie and Miriam showed us warm hospitality and made our stay extremely pleasant. We would definitely stay here again. We had a few issues with the lighting and with a noisy fan in our room. However, overall the accommodations were very comfortable.
• Pamela (10/5): - The Cariari B&B was like a home away from home. The staff is so warm and welcoming. They were very accommodating when we requested an earlier breakfast. The inn is charming and the grounds are beautiful. There is an incredible roof top deck/lounge area to relax and dine. It is in a perfect location for a stay before or after flying out of San Jose. It was a memorable experience!

• Indiamarley (10/5): Fabulous colonial grand old house and the warmest welcome ever - Everything - Laurie and Miriam are FABULOUS in every way. I felt like I was at home, or perhaps staying with a favourite aunt. It felt like home. And the breakfast, oh dear - it's a shared table (not great if you're not a morning person, but I muddled through and thoroughly enjoyed it) and Laurie moaned that she "didn't have much this morning" and then served up enough food to feed a horde of hungry adolescents. Love all the animals, the terrace is magical...I could go on. So very glad I found this place and I'll see you next year :-) Nothing.

• Suzanne (10/5): - We loved our stay. Lorie was the ultimate hostess and welcomed us with a beverage and great patio space to hang out as we arrived earlier than check in time. Breakfast excelled and no one could go hungry with so many options. She is a people person and had many stories to share. The dogs, cats and parrot were also very welcoming. A great stay!

• Miho (10/5): - My partner and I had the pleasure of staying at The Cariari B&B, and it was an unforgettable experience. The property was absolutely gorgeous and the staff made us feel at home. The room was spotless, huge bathroom and bed was very comfortable. The property was walking distance to various restaurants and shops. The area felt very safe, we walked to the stores and restaurants at night. I highly recommend The Cariari B&B. The owner and her staff went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and well taken care of throughout our time there. We can't wait to return!

• Josefina (10/5): - Our stay was amazing! Miriam and Gerardo took care of my husband and I while we were in town for a business event. To say they went above and beyond would be an understatement. They treated us like family and were very attentive to our needs. I would highly recommend this bed and breakfast for a nice, relaxing stay.
• Mary (9/5): Laurie and Miriam made our stay a true delight! An oasis in the midst of the city! - Location to the convention center and dining. Staff was wonderful! We were joyfully welcomed upon arrival by Laurie and Miriam and offered a beverage. We got the benefit of calling this place home for 8 nights. Laurie is so hospitable, wanting you to enjoy the area, planning trips, arranging transportation to help make your life easier. I was blessed in that she let me be her join her on outings to the markets, stores, and yoga and tea with friends on the terrace. She even treated us and a friend to 2 of the most delicious homemade dinners we experienced our whole trip. Also whipping up a yummy blueberry French toast casserole for breakfast. We felt like family in her home. We were fortunate to find a room at the last minute after our hotel reservation mix up. Which ended up being a blessing in disguise! There are 3 spacious, lovely suites. The upper terrace is an oasis to sit and listen to the river and view the mountains. The lack of AC was not an issue because there weather was not humid even with daily downpours. Windows open and fans were all we needed to be comfortable. We felt safe walking to the convention center and DoubleTree hotel. Laurie or Heraldo would drive us up the hill to the pedestrian bridge early each morning. Laurie is an exceptional hostess and now friend!

• Eric (9/5): Fun night in Cariari! - The breakfast was incredible! Fresh fruit, bagels and cream cheese, gluten free cereal greek yogurt, and coffee all at 6am to accommodate our schedule. Loved chatting with Laurie about Costa Rica and life in general. Was a little tight for a family of 4 8n one room but we made it work. Wish we would have known there were 2 dogs and a cat on the property in case someone was allergic. But the three animals were friendly.
• Robert (10/5): - We LOVED staying here! Laurie was not there but Miriam was and she was so wonderful! She cooked us a fantastic breakfast each day and helped us with our Spanish! She kept our room immaculately clean and was so friendly. We even met her husband and nieces and we all had ice cream the last night we were there. We will definitely stay there again!
