Guest Reviews
- Carol (7/5): Lovely second time here - The food in the lamplighter is exceptionally brilliant we had fish one night it was the best fish I have ever tasted this was our second time here would still go back If I'm truly honest think a little more shinne in the rooms no bleach in toilets
- Michele (10/5): -

- Samantha (10/5): Cosy and comfortable stay in a great location with lovely, welcoming staff - Very homely and very welcoming. The lady who did the breakfast was particularly welcoming and couldn’t do enough. She even offered that she would have done us an early breakfast as we had to leave to be somewhere the morning we were leaving. We also enjoyed the location - it was handy for exploring the lakes and we enjoyed the ‘crafty baa’.
- Steve (6/5): - Staircase access up to rooms is not the easiest with changes of direction and awkward hand holds but I do use a stick!
- Conor (10/5): Amazing stay (again). Would recommend - Location is great. Staff are polite and helpful. Room was a great size and beds really comfortable. Breakfast was lovely as well. Minor issue is just small car park but not really a complaint by any stretch!
- mark (8/5): -
- Isabel (7/5): - Personal molt amable. La cuina excepcional, vam sopar molt bé i l'esmorzar era molt complert. Habitacions una mica antigues però confortables.
- sharon (7/5): beautiful location beautiful property would definitely stay again good value for money - lovely location really helpful staff great food choice. Free parking onsite brilliant bonus no walk-in shower not many TV channels only one pillow

- Tammy (5/5): Lovely staff would not stay again due to no sleep 😔 - Staff lovely The bed was so hard we got no sleep, we left at 5am, without breakfast
- Christine (9/5): - Comfortable room pleasant staff great food.
- Polly (10/5): - Absolute gem of a spot. We were lucky to get this place, we booked it whilst travelling and hoped for the best. We weren’t disappointed. Wonderful bar, beautiful food and great staff. Slept fantastically well. We will return.
- Simon (9/5): -
- james (8/5): Very nice hotel - Location, staff.food, beer… dog friendly Breakfast wasn’t great to be honest but would not stop me returning… the thing I didn’t like was the contact from the property to say that they didn’t think I had paid, which I had… but I’m still waiting to hear that he has resolved the issue…a month ago… 🤔
- Debbie (10/5): Central, great value for money, lovely staff and great breakfast - Central Parking difficulties
- Paula (10/5): Really lovely will be back this was our 3rd visit - Loved the location
Good value for money / breakfast’s was great / friendly staff N/A
- Jane (7/5): It is a nice place to stay but Room1 was below our expectations. - We had breakfast and dinner in the dining room and the food was excellent. Service was very good. The hotel location is close to the train station and we found it easily walkable, even with bags. Room 1 was very small for two adults. It was at the front of the hotel so bright and a bit noisy even at night. The bathroom was very small. The shower was difficult to get in and out of and the water pressure was terribly low so it was difficult to really have a shower.
- Elaine (8/5): A relaxing few days as it was meant to be. - breakfast A separate lounge would be better than sitting in dining room when having a drink only.
- Danielle (10/5): Hotel is in a great location. Parking is easy and free. Room was clean and nice with tea and coffee facilities. Would st - Great location. Clean. Great breakfast and service. Nice decor. Well kept.
- Amanda (10/5): -
- Mandil (10/5): Easy to find the location with really quality service from room to food. - Everything what an hotel needs to offer was on top standard. Food is really delicious. N/A
- paul (9/5): -
- kirsty (10/5): -
- Angela (8/5): Good hospitality - Good breakfast, lovely evening meal
- Sarah (8/5): Cosy, great breakfast, welcoming and clean - Delicious breakfast, friendly welcome- lovely breakfast staff super polite and lovely! Perfect location, happy with free parking right outside was handy. Just a suggestion rather than poor feedback as this is hard to get right with plumbing - the shower in room 1 is a trickle not powerful enough so have a proper shower just felt difficult. It could do with getting sorted as was wanting to wash hair but couldn’t wash long hair under that so didn’t really meet my expectations for bathroom must haves.
- Gavin (8/5): Would definitely come again - It was nice smart and clean, I’d of scored it lower but the staff made the place what it is, every single member of staff was lovely and professional Breakfast was a bit limited for people who can’t eat wheat, but it was a nice property
- Lisa (7/5): Very enjoyable - Ideal location in centre, clean and tidy lovely breakfast Little dated but nothing major
- Sarah (8/5): Ideal place for short stay on route - Staff very helpfully and very friendly. Food very nice.room clean and warm Would have been nice to have some biscuits on tray as it nice to have something to nibble when you first arrive. Would have liked a soap dispenser on sink.toilet paper very thin my personal opinion
- nikki (5/5): Felt like we got the cheap seats - The location was excellent 👌 We stayed in a room (7) directly above the kitchen and from approximately 5am there was lots of banging which sounded like food preparation (I didn’t sleep from 5am) also there was a fan directly below our window and the smell was awful from the cooking. The room wasn’t the best as it definitely lacked TLC. The toilet seat didn’t fit correctly the mirror in the bathroom wasn’t good the lamp didn’t work and there was paint on the Lino. The whole room wasn’t the best tbh could definitely do with re-modernising. We felt like we got the cheap seats. It was my wife’s birthday so wanted to do something special I feel this spoilt it 😢
- Channon (10/5): -

- deborah (10/5): Another lovely stay at the Lamplighter - Another lovely stay at the Lamplighter. Our room was ready before check in and was clean and welcoming. Although we had tea and coffee making facilities, it would have been a nice touch to have a bottle of water and or biscuits.

- Harish Prabhu (9/5): Fantabulous! - Comfy and convenient place along with an amazing service and hospitality from the staff. They helped me check-in earlier and also were sweet to take and keep the luggage in my room (without me even asking to). And they also let me to borrow their cutlery. Thank you kind lady!
And as for the location, it’s just 2 minutes away from the bus stop that takes you to the lakes and is just outside the Windermere Railway Station (which is how you ideally arrive in Windermere).
Thank you guys!
Great job and will be staying with you again! None.

- richard (8/5): Very comfortable hotel with good food options. The room was large, the bed comfortable.Staff friendly - Room size, bathroom size. bed very comfortable. Room lighting was poor. Room heating was turned off at some stage for some reason. We did have a room on the top floor. It was challenging to get the bags to the top without reasonable effort for "over 65s".
