Guest Reviews
- Bosco (10/5): Exceptional -
- Yves (10/5): Excellent and luxurious hotel just outside of Santa Teresa - This is a beautiful hotel, very comfortable and quiet. Excellent staff, very nice rooms, lovely swimming pool. Good reception by Esteban, nice waiters Andy and Keyner. Keyner even took our boys surfing in the morning! Maybe the breakfast could be a bit more varied.
The road uphill is tricky the first time but is doable with a two wheel drive in first gear.
- Dominik (8/5): Very good - Very attentive and kind staff. Amazing food. Small but beautiful and well maintained pool area. Many resident lizards hanging around to say hello in the morning. The short drive up from the main road is hell. Very steep and badly maintained road. Definitely requires a strong 4WD and a cool temper.
- Dierra (10/5): - The staff was super friendly and the property was beautiful.
- Norma (10/5): Exceptional -
- andrew (8/5): - Stunning view,
- helen (4/5): - Property is gorgeous but room is not sealed up and at dark the room became infested with flying bugs. They came under the doors, over the doors between the doors. They got in my hair and the staff offered nothing to change it. I left after one night because it was digusting
- Lora (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anca (10/5): A real paradise - The location, the confort and the staff! Individual private pool, with a big terrace and a great view on the ocean! Amazing place! Not the case
- Amanda Christina (10/5): - We really enjoyed our stay here. Brandon gave us great recommendations for restaurants and exceeded our expectations for customer service. The caoba room had a spectacular view.
- Vernon (10/5): breathtaking and memorable - everything was amazing! staff, location, rooms, food the POOLS. The photos don't do it justice - the rooms were beautiful and spacious. we loved having our private plunge pools and seeing the monkeys in nearby trees. Food, cocktails and staff were all excellent. We wished we could have stayed longer :)
- Michael (10/5): - Absolutely private. You stay in very reclusive Villas that protect your privacy. Ideal place to relax, let go and rejuvenate.
- Derek Anthony (10/5): - Staff was very friendly and helpful and made sure i had all i needed!
- Kayla (10/5): - Absolutely incredible staff, very welcoming and attentive. The property was perfect, you’re basically in the jungle so be prepared for some ants but also incredible up close views of monkeys, iguanas and birds!
- Alan (8/5): Very good -
- Katy (9/5): Beautiful ocean views - Beautiful suites with views out over the ocean, the rooms are spacious and incredibly comfortable. The private pools and terrace areas are private and make a lovely relaxing space from which we saw lots of wildlife!
Others have mentioned the road up, we had a compact SUV in dry season and had no issues at all - it is steep but no concern, you couldn't attempt this in a low clearance car. The doors to the room do not fully seal so bugs and little lizards get in very easily, all food/drink needs to be properly sealed away due to ants. Our villa was at the bottom of around 100 steps so be aware if any mobility issues to mention this!
Due to the hill up you do have to drive anywhere from the hotel.
- Fiona (10/5): Relaxing luxury stay - Everything. Wanted to stay longer.
Amazing boutique hotel with only six villas.
All in their own space with incredible views of the pacific. Beautifully decorated. Everything we could need and more. In front of room private plunge pool, sun loungers, chaise lounge, table and chairs. Great place to spot wildlife. The room was perfect with emperor sized four poster. Bathroom had double sinks and shower that had a door to outside area as well as into the bathroom.
The staff were very attentive and helpful.
A deliciously cool drink on arrival.
Also amazing cocktails and delicious breakfast and dinner. All served in a beautiful dining space overlooking the Pacific and gardens.
Would stay again and recommend. We had to leave!
The track up to the hotel is very steep but it was easy for our 4x4 jeep. As long as you have a high clearance vehicle it is possible to drive.
- Akanksha (7/5): Good -
- Andrea (10/5): This was a wonderful introduction to this part of Costa Rica. We rented an ATV which made the trip even more memorable. - The individual villas were very roomy and private. The staff were amazing. Nothing
- Tom (9/5): Fantastic. Really enjoyed our stay and would thoroughly recommend! - Lovely place to stay with wonderful staff (Andy was a star). Food was really nice in the restaurant. The only downside to the hotel was the fact that without a car it was a relatively isolated place which meant getting around wasn't that easy or cheap as taxis were the only options.
- Peter (10/5): Exceptional - Great service and excellent food
- Jeremy Mackenzie (10/5): - Beautifully appointed rooms with private plunge pool and view of ocean. Staff very courteous. Breakfasts included in rate were excellent. We ate dinner at the hotel most nights for convenience and because the food and service was good. The main drawback of this hotel is that it is too far away from Santa Teresa and the main beaches to walk so you need to book taxis ( $20 each way), rent an ATV or rent a car.
- Andrew (9/5): Superb -
- Molly (10/5): This was the perfect location for our honeymoon and made it truly unforgettable! - Stunning views, gorgeous landscape, yummy food and drinks, top-notch staff, quiet location
- Karen (10/5): Amazing, relaxing stay, with great rooms, views, wonderful staff and delicious food. Would definitely return. Need 4x4. - Amazing small property. 10 rooms. Fabulous individual very private suites. Fantastic staff. Amazing views. Delicious food. Nothing! If I had to make one comment it would be to have more recliners around the pool as the standard rooms don’t have them on their terrace.
- Anna (7/5): Nice place, but the service needs to be improved - It’s a nice small hotel on a hill, with romantic villas and a beautiful view. Breakfast is tasty and the staff in the restaurant is attentive. Hotel guest representative Mariano was unfriendly and not helpful when we called prior to arrival on the phone and also in person during our stay. Several times he made sure to tell us that he has no time to help us despite only one more villa was occupied in addition to ours.
The view facing wall of the villa is not well isolated, so there are opening in several places where insects are coming into the room.
No Christmas decorations or greeting during the holiday time we’ve stayed
- Josue (10/5): - The ambience is beautiful but the wonderful staff made the trip a real joy.
- Shayla (10/5): The most relaxing tropical vacation ever. Being in the forest and the views amazing. - My stay was amazing. Everyone was so nice and made sure we had atvs to get around. They helped book our tours and massages. The room patio doors and bathroom showers don’t seal. So you may have a buggy crawly friend who peaks in and says hello. The restaurant on site is closed during slow season so you have to book your dinner ahead of time.
- Akyhya (10/5): - Great stay! Lots of bugs at night due to being in the jungle
- Kavoia C (10/5): - This place was breathtaking! My husband and I truly enjoyed our stay here. The staff were amazing and attentive even before I got there. The villa looks exactly like the pictures shown. Would come back here again if visiting.
- Ruth (7/5): Good - The roads to get to this resort are terrible, they need to fix it. Good thing we have a 4 wheel drive car, a regular car will be very hard to get in, specially when is raining. We love he food and the waiters are very nice.
- Kipp (10/5): Exceptional -
- Christine Anne (8/5): - Firstly, the staff are what makes this place shine. Oscar, David and Andy made our stay very enjoyable. They demonstrated excellent service and were accommodating.
The food was excellent but the choices were limited and the menu didn’t change during the 8 days we were there. I would have liked to have more options. We did have a mini bar and in-room snacks but there is no price list so be careful in what you consume or you can get hit with an extra bill. Fortunately we had a car and were able to have numerous dining options in Santa Teresa.
The grounds are lush and beautiful. We stayed in the casita called Ultra. The casita was large with an attached infinity pool. The view was spectacular. The interior was nice but areas show wear and tear. Particularly the pool where tiles are missing and the pool was not cleaned while we were there. The main pool by the restaurant seemed to be ok but we didn’t use it. Overall, the room was tidy but far from pristine. There is minimal lighting in the bathroom and no natural sunlight so it was dark. Lighting in general in the casita was poor.
The biggest problem for us were the 131 stairs we had to negotiate to get to/from our room. I was not warned ahead of time and because my husband has had a stroke and doesn’t walk well, it was very difficult. Additionally, there is not enough lighting along the stair path and is not safe because there are nothing to hold onto. This is not a place for anyone with orthopedic issues.
- Clint (10/5): - There was nothing not to like about this property!!! Well... except the steps maybe to get to our bungalo! 121 straight up the mountain! But it was so worth it!!! We were there and only saw one other couple on property the entire time! The staff was incredible! Helpful, polite, available... perfection!!!!! Cannot wait to go back!
- Alice (10/5): wonderful week in paradise - Casa Chameleon is a lovely hotel. My partner and I spent a week there and we had a wonderful time - really is a little bit of paradise. Breakfast was included and it was a great way to start the day. The staff were really accommodating, helping with any of our requests (e.g. booking tours, arranging a transfer to the airport, putting a bottle of drink in our room for arrival, keeping us informed of any changes/ cost increases in the tours etc). The hotel is up a steep hill, so you get your steps in when walking, but we also hired an ATV for a few days. Food was lovely, had dinner there most nights. View from our room was stunning. Would recommend highly! nothing really.
- Rachel (10/5): - Casa Chameleon was a dream vacation for us. The staff was wonderful and we felt so at ease on this property. The rooms and the views are spectacular and it was well worth the extended trip. We're hoping to stay here again soon.
- Mark (9/5): If you want to be in Santa Teresa area, and want to be a couple miles away from town, with luxury an - The food was an unexpected surprise. Honestly, some of the best meals we’ve EVER had! Because of delicate septic, no flushing of paper is annoying, but not a deal breaker for us
- James (9/5): Superb -
- Peter (10/5): - After reaching the property it’s up a massive in paved hill it’s incredibly pretty with amazing ocean views. Mariano and David greeted us and the service was incredible. The villa had a pool much larger than a plunge pool, it was our own small private pool. The breakfast was awesome so were all the different juices. Definitely recommend this property.
- Frederik (10/5): Hotel Casa Chameleon Hotel Mal Pais is an extremely beautiful and well-maintained hotel! - Hotel Casa Chameleon Hotel Mal Pais - Adults Only - is an extremely beautiful and well-maintained hotel located on a mountain slope in the jungle just outside Santa Teresa. The hotel has 10 beautiful bungalows, all with their own terrace and infinity pool which are completely private. With these 10 bungalows, the hotel can only accommodate a maximum of 20 adult guests (no children at this hotel), which gives a very private atmosphere. From our terrace, which had a view of the Pacific Ocean, we saw, among other things, howler monkeys, beautiful birds and large butterflies. Our bungalow was very nicely decorated and we also really appreciated that there was a real coffee maker (coffee refilled daily) and a small fridge in the room. Wonderful to start the day with a cup of coffee on the terrace and look out over the jungle and the Pacific Ocean!
The hotel has a beautiful restaurant and bar where you eat breakfast and/or lunch and dinner. Very good food is served throughout. Fresh fruit and a fruit smoothie are always served with each breakfast. Next to the hotel's restaurant is also a small pool where a family of 4 lizards used to sunbathe during the day! Peaceful and exciting animals.
The staff is extremely concerned about the guests and the guests' well-being. We would like to extend a very warm thank you to Alfredo, Mariano, Justin, Andy and David and all the other staff who made our two weeks stay very special!
As the hotel is outside Santa Teresa (it takes about 45 minutes to walk to Santa Teresa), we strongly recommend renting an ATV during your stay there. Walking along the roads, all of which lack sidewalks, after dark is life-threatening as the roads lack lighting and cars, motorcycles and ATVs drive at high speeds and often without their lights on. With an ATV, you can also easily get around to all the paradise beaches in the region.
We can only warmly recommend Hotel Casa Chameleon Hotel Mal Pais. //Frederik & Maria
- Lukas (10/5): Exceptional - Great atmosphere, privacy and best Staff, especially David & Justin. Entry drive up the hill hard to manage.
- Lisanne (10/5): Amazing stay, strongly recommended! - The property is amazing. The bungalow was outstanding with a magnificent view. Everything was very clean and the staff was most attentive. Casa Cameleon is worth every penny you pay them (especially in comparison to other hotels in the area). We enjoyed everything and would love to stay again. Nothing to dislike. Our waterfall stopped running but they repaired it immediately.
- Andrea (10/5): - The staff was amazing!!! Andy is a gem. Carlos also went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable. Will definitely go back.
- Andrew (10/5): Exceptional -
- Philip (10/5): Best Hotel in Costa Rica - Amazing Service, the Staff was always friendly & helpful. Prizes are totally acceptable for the standard in the area. Wide range of options for breakfast/ lunch/ dinner. The villa, the pool and the view were astounding. No complaints whatsoever
- Georg (10/5): Romantic getaway with amazing views - The drive there is though however you will get rewarded by the outstanding view. We stayed in a bungalow in a very private setting. You can watch wildlife from your terrace. Very personal and stuff was very attentive. Great for a romantic getaway.
- Alfredo (10/5): Exceptional - Great facilities, beautiful room, fantastic staff, extremely helpful They made a mistake on the room charge (mistyped the amount) and then they ran my card again with the correct amount. I’m still waiting for the first charge (with the wrong amount) to be cancelled or reimbursed.
- Paige (10/5): Private and better than the photos - The privacy, view, indoor/outdoor living, plunge pool, staff, happy hour drinks, breakfast The road in Santa Teresa and the road up to get to lodging is a tough hill. Had to put vehicle in low gear to get up that hill. Part of the adventure, though, and worth it when we got there.
- Mrpurp13 (9/5): La Cuesta Casa Chameleon- Bear in mind the hill if you aren't the most fit. - Wonderful views, great food and service. Lovely personal service with great communication.
It really does a great job with the indoor outdoor bridging with a gentle breeze from the ocean into most of tye spaces which you will be very grateful for in the heat.
The jungle is right up to many of the balconies, with lovely planted pathways connecting the different spaces.
We managed to see so many animals while just playing on the terrace.
It was a wonderful stay all round and a high bench mark for the start of our first stay in Costa Rica yet to be beat. The only thing I would say to be aware of is the steep hill to and from beach on quite a rough road. It's walkable but tiring. No problem if you had a vehicle though and the local taxi drivers and car hire folks take it in their stride. It's probably more of an issue due to us being from Scotland and not used to the climate.
- Jennifer (10/5): - Lovely staff and amazing views
- Diana (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sybrand (10/5): Mal país is a beautiful town. Casa chameleon was even better. - Amazing hotel with great staff and atmosphere! We will definitely recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Costa Rica!
- Terry (6/5): Pleasant -
- Guido (7/5): Good -
- Anna (8/5): Very good -
- Hunt (10/5): Exceptional - The most incredible room in a beautiful hotel. All the staff were a delight and were so quick to help us with anything and everything we needed. Food/breakfast was lovely and we were able to eat it in our room a couple of mornings. The room was one of the most amazing rooms we’ve ever stayed in. Huge private pool in the jungle, super private, so much space, amazing bath, and you can even see the sea!
- Scott (9/5): It was a very magical stay and would highly recommend Casa Chameleon to anyone unless they are mobility restricted. - absolutely beautiful, private, spacious and serene. The small restaurant was great and the morning breakfast was fantastic. All of the staff was very pleasant and helpful. The access road is quite rough and dusty especially the first night when we arrived in the dark. Beware, there are a lot of stairs!
- Chris (9/5): Superb -
- Valerie (9/5): Superb -
- Dana (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rogelio (10/5): My husband and I had an amazing two-week stay for our honeymoon, and we couldn’t have chosen a more perfect place. - The property itself it’s so beautiful and tropical with some of the most amazing views. It is located 5 min to Santa Teresa, where there were so many things to do and explore. Our Villa was perfect for our two-week stay, and every single staff member we encountered were so kind and accommodating. We felt like royalty during our stay, and would love to come back. The one and only feature we weren’t too fond of was that the bathroom and bedroom were separated by a wall with an open ceiling concept, and no door for the entrance. The toilet had it’s own stall and saloon style doors.
- Anonymous (10/5): the accommodations overly exceeded my expectations - the ambiance, ocean view, salt water pool, restaurant, staff…EVERYTHING!
- Schnell (10/5): Exceptional -
- Bogdan C (8/5): - Great resort with amazing views and great staff , definitely will visit again .
- Federico (9/5): Amazing place with a great view and very friendly staff. - The staff is very friendly and gave us good indications of what to do in the area. The view of the room is amazing, the bed is very comfortable and the toilet is very spacious. Breakfast was really good. The toilet and swimming pool could have been cleaner.
- Ryan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Russell (8/5): Very good -
- Janna (10/5): - Amazing property, very private and limited number of people at the resort which was nice. Having your own dipping pool was great. You were able to hear and see the howler monkeys from your room which was cool. Staff were friendly and super helpful with all needs. The property is close to town with lots of restaurants to choose from. The town is not as commercialised as Tamarindo which makes it better. The area has lovely beaches (Santa Teresa) - and every sunset was amazing! Would recommend a good car (4WD or SUV) as driveway/road to property is steep and a mixture of broken concrete and gravel. If you can get a shuttle to the area, i would recommend that and then hire a quad bike at the property or in town (its around 70-85$ per day).
- Andrea (10/5): - The staff was amazing and so helpful- they really bent over backwards to get to know us and make our stay as perfect as it was. Fernanda, Andy, Diego and Justin were exceptional!
- whitney floyd (10/5): - The room was extraordinary. Beautiful view and very private pool, also with great view. It was in the least expensive room category but was likely the most fantastic room in which we have ever stayed.
Lots of beautiful birds and surprisingly nice monkeys, squirrels, iguanas, and even an anteater visited our property.
We would return in a heartbeat.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Our room was amazing. Awesome view, comfortable, and luxurious. We loved the dipping pool and all the places to sit and lounge. The staff was great! Karen arranged rides, rentals, directions, suggestions, reservations and was so friendly and efficient in caring for our needs. Andy, Jodie and Alfredo were great waiters but so much more. Highly recommend!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Outstanding location and wonderful staff. A great respite during the covid crisis
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Absolutely awesome having a private plunge pool! Staff was so friendly and helpful. We consider them our friends by the time we left. Loved that it was adults only. Nothing worse than sitting down to dinner with a kid screaming next to you. Food was good. Only negative was the portions were small. Fabulous massage girls will give in room service. Definitely recommend this place!!
- Eileen (10/5): Last minute booking in a paradise-like hotel. - Amazing location and very friendly service. Excellent food!!
- Renata Z (10/5): A perfect place to stay in Malpais! - Gorgeous place with a wonderful staff. This felt like a very personalized experience, staying in a stand-alone bungalow with a beautiful view, and the restaurant was excellent.
- Gisele (10/5): Return Visitors - We love staying at Casa Chameleon! The villas are large and private and the view of the ocean from your personal plunge pool is perfect. The staff is friendly and accommodating, and the food is great! We will continue coming back!
- Samuel (10/5): LOVE Casa Chameleon - We stayed at Casa Chameleon for my fiancees birthday - the staff, the amenities, and the restaurant were all absolutely incredible. I couldn't recommend this little boutique hotel enough!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Stunning location; we had the villa which was fantastic. Expensive but worth it for a bit of luxury and evening meal included. The food was excellent although the menu was the same throughout. Staff were wonderfully helpful and always had a smile on their faces.
My only minor issue was no telephone in the villa, which was a long way down many stairs. My email didn't always work so could not always communicate with the concierge.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very friendly staff. Nice architecture. A place to relax and enjoy this beautiful country
- Michael (10/5): Romantic getaway - The staff was amazing, food was incredible, the villa was private and awesome. This was our honeymoon trip and it was perfect.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I love the small size of this hotel. The rooms and view were gorgeous.
- Emily (10/5): Amazing Villas, Awesome Experience! - From check in to check out everything at this boutique 10 villa property was amazing. As we were travelling during the rainy season, it rained during at least part of the day, but the way the rooms are situated made this no problem as it was warm, we relaxed on our private pool deck under cover and watched the monkeys jumping in the trees while enjoying a spectacular view of the ocean. The hotel also set up private in room massages, which were amazing, and an ATV zip line and waterfall tour, which was a highlight of our trip. Special thanks to the staff, they were welcoming, accommodating, personal and friendly and the food at the restaurant was awesome! We had at least a meal a day there and were never sick of it.
We look forward to returning on our next trip!
- Ricardo (10/5): - I had such an amazing experience.
- Hortenssia (6/5): - It was beautiful. Noelia was awesome and tried her best to help us out.
Jairo and Steven in the restaurant were great and always attentive. The villas are old and the pool had cracks in the wood with lots of big ants coming out and falling to the water which was gross! One piece of wood was old and already coming off.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Amazing Couple's Vacation - We loved the privacy of the rooms and the great services provided.
- AliCody (10/5): - Casa Chameleon Mal Pais creates a unique experience. There are only 10 villas and the staff truly gets to know each guest, I've never felt so taken care of at a resort before. Klarissa planned out our itinerary and Estevan made sure our food and drink choices were perfect for us. The food was incredible by the way!! Our villa was truly our home away from home, our own private paradise! The entire staff was helpful and made suggestions to ensure our trip was amazing! We can't wait to go back!!
- Corinne (8/5): - The hotel was beautiful and close to the beach, but we had some type of animal living either in the bathroom mirror or wall and found droppings everyday on the bathroom counter. We told the front desk but nothing was done about it. Also the jets of our pool weren't functioning properly. These were tiny issues, so overall a wonderful experience!
- Melanie (10/5): - Absolutely beautiful hotel, amazing staff and overall great experience. Our room was gorgeous. When we pulled up they had the grill going in the front and it definitely was a wonderful welcome. The staff were friendly, helpful and go the extra mile. Dinner our first night was "family style" which I was uncomfortable with at first, but was such a great experience and opened up communications with the other guests for the rest of our trip. The dining area is gorgeous. Our room was beautiful as well. I honestly want to mimic some features into our future home. We cannot wait to return and stay extra days. The roads are rough, but 100% would go again and this is the hotel to stay at.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Beautiful view and amazing food. Great service I would definitely return it was incredible
- dick (8/5): Great place out of a movie - Great place, location and helpful. Only negative is they charge too much for food and travel while they appear to insinuate tipping for anything they do.
- Verified traveler (10/5): A Gem! - The hotel is secluded, yet close to town. The staff is incredible. They truly make the place worth visiting. Oh and they serve hands down the best burger and fries I have ever had! I can NOT wait to return.
- Tyler (10/5): Incredible Casa Chemeon - My wife and I are happy to give the Casa Chameleon our highest recommendation. The rooms are incredible, the common spaces are intimate but also offer an incredible view of Mal Pais and the Pacific ocean sunsets, and the staff are all dedicated to making your stay enjoyable and memorable.
A quick anecdote, on our last day, we came back with some yellow fin tuna from a fishing trip. We asked the chef to prepare us a meal using some of the fish. The wait staff and the chef worked together to organize and prepare us one of the most amazing meals we have ever had. It was a tremendous send off.
We were impressed with everything that came out of the kitchen.
The concierge(s) was able to move mountains for us on multiple occasions.
Our visit was a true pleasure! Until next time "Pura Vida!"
- Verified traveler (10/5): Love casa Chameleon - The location is the best. Amazing views over the jungle and pacific sea.
The staff is very friendly and nice.
Rooms are very comfortable even the small villas.
We had the best week in mal país.
- Darren (10/5): This place is amazing! - The hotel was amazing, the staff was great, and the location was on point! The hotel was one of the best I have ever stayed in, very clean, incredibly comfortable, and the views! The staff was friendly, the right amount of engaging, and had great suggestions. Would definitely recommend and return
- daniel (10/5): Great hotel great experience - I don't think I can say enough nice things about this place. The rooms are incredible and the staff are some of the nicest people you will meet. Everyone was incredibly nice and helpful. Definitely rent a atv while there and use it to get around. It's the only way to go. My only reason for not giving these guys a 5 star rating would be I though the food prices were a little high by 20% or so and no meat with breakfast. Other than that this place is one of a kind and I'll definitely be back!!
- michael (10/5): Honeymoon - Overall, the experience was amazing. The service was exceptional. If you are looking to stay at a resort that goes above and beyond than this is for you. The rooms were beautiful and the ambiance was calm and relaxing.
- Pablo (10/5): Amazing!!!! - One of the most beautiful places, excellent services, and great views
- Katherine (10/5): Close to beach and restaurants, far from airport - My fiance and i were blown away once we got to Casa Chameleon, the staff was helpful and welcoming, our room had an amazing view and the food was amazing there. We barely wanted to leave from our room. Highly reccomend it! Even though its very far from both airports its completely worth it. I suggest you rent a car AWD !
- Patty (10/5): Private pool, private resort - We stayed here 3 nights and really enjoyed our time. There are only 10 units and each has a own pool. We had the best bed at this hotel compared to the other 4 hotels we stayed at (very comfortable memory foam type). It also had a great shower! We had a separate living area and bedroom with full wall length windows that opened up to the pool. So it was great to be able to lounge between as you wished. Around 6 pm they recommended shutting the doors because of mosquitos and the bats that like to catch them. We found it very entertaining to watch this show each evening right outside. I was really surprised that there were not many mosquitos at all though. We did put some repellent on at night when we went to dinner (as everything is outside) but I only got about 10 bites total over two weeks in Costa Rica. To compare I had 57 bites over a week in St John last year. The dinner and breakfasts were great! Each night they created a new menu from whatever they had bought for the day. They always had a fish and a meat option. It was fun as it made you try things you may not ordinarily order. There are a number of restaurants around but you have to take a cab. A fun recommendation is to rent an ATV and tour the coast and discover all kinds of beaches. The beaches were mostly deserted except for the surfing beaches and contained many tide pools. The roads are mostly dirt there so it can be dusty so don't wear white.
- James (10/5): A TRUE place to relax and disconnect. - The room is simply amazing. The views, the layout, the private pool, the surroundings, the sounds....everything was great.
The staff at the hotel is 100% committed to helping you have a great time.
The wifi was out in our room, which was a hidden relief. We were able to disconnect and relax. Each suite is separate and really makes you feel secluded.
