- Andreas (10/5): Wonderful! - My family stayed four nights at the Refinery and thoroughly enjoyed the stay. We arrived as walk‑in guests and simply asked for a room. From the very first moment, we felt warmly welcomed, especially thanks to Luisa Garcia. Her exceptional friendliness and helpfulness truly made the difference. Although we discovered the hotel by chance, it was the kindness and pleasant manner of Luisa Garcia and her colleague that truly convinced us to choose it. My wife felt at home right away and immediately knew that this was the right hotel for her in New York City—quiet, lounge‑like, stylish, and with a wonderful scent throughout. Our children loved the breakfast, especially the pancakes, and dinner at Parker & Quinn was also fabulous. We also greatly enjoyed the hotel’s jazz bar, with its great location and excellent cocktails, which created the perfect atmosphere to end the evening. The hotel’s prime location in the heart of Midtown Manhattan, close to Bryant Park, was ideal, with many of New York City’s major attractions within walking distance, including Fifth Avenue, excellent shopping, dining, and convenient transportation options. The beds, rooms, toiletries, and overall atmosphere exceeded our expectations. My family would be delighted to return and would like to sincerely thank the Refinery staff for a wonderful stay.

- 267suzanney (10/5): Beautiful hotel, fantastic staff - We loved our 1 week stay at the Refinery and couldn't fault it. Our first visit to NYC and wanted somewhere midtown but not in Times Square and the location was perfect. The hotel is beautiful and spotlessly clean (our room was cleaned every day). We had a deluxe double queen overlooking the Empire State Building, which was spacious and had all the amenities we needed (only thing that could have improved it would have been a lock on the bathroom door). The staff, especially the concierge team, were so friendly and helpful. They couldn't have done more to make us feel welcomed. We ate at Parker and Quinn which was delicious and enjoyed the views from the rooftop bar. I would highly recommend the hotel to anyone looking for a great stay in midtown.

Upon hearing we were celebrating a birthday, she immediately upgraded us, provided a special birthday surprise in the room, and offered us a drink voucher for the rooftop bar. My boyfriend is still talking about how great it all was. Thank you so much to Jamilah and everyone at Refinery for making our weekend truly exceptional! We can’t wait to be back!
- kathisedel (10/5): The Refinery Hotel in NYC — a hidden gem - The Refinery Hotel in Midtown Manhattan is truly a gem in the heart of the city. From the stylish decor to the warm and friendly staff you will be impressed with all it has to offer for a very reasonable price. We found the rooms to be spacious, comfortable, and a welcome retreat after a long day walking in the city. The brunch was fairly extensive and we were highly impressed by the Yukon potatoes — hot and crispy on the outside and creamy and tender on the inside — definitely a treat! The rooftop bar is something you must check out. It offers stunning views of the Empire State building where you can enjoy a delicious cocktail. The decor is cozy and inviting — a place to relax, socialize and enjoy city lights Lamar made our stay most pleasant by greeting us daily with his brilliant smile and positive energy. He arranged our transport to the airport and was always willing to provide suggestions when we asked for assistance. His professionalism definitely enhanced our experience. We can’t recommend this hotel enough and will definitely be back!

Unquestionably the best midtown hotel for the value and experience. I stay here often for business as well as pleasure and recommend it to all my friends. You can't go wrong staying here and I especially want to give Sydney and Lauren a 5-star shout out - they are amazing.

The roof terrace was also nice over looking the empire state . The breakfast room was like an old school diner . Food was good enough and service and staff were all very friendly and helpful . The negative s . Hotel location also very useful to move around NY The phone in the room didn’t work and we couldn’t call reception or our children’s room . The internet (high speed) was beyond useless and didn’t really work on any device we had . We had rooms 607/606 . I think they were near a lift shaft so there was intermittent banging throughout the night . Keep me up . I guess all rooms ending in 05,06,07 probably have th same issues . So maybe avoid . Food selection was average also .

I was really hoping to see Raymond and Rafael as they were wonderful to us on our previous visits. It was great to see them both and it speaks volumes that they are still working at the Refinery Hotel. As usual, they were wonderful in welcoming us back and helping us with directions, always asking if we needed anything. I was thrilled to see Raphael's new daughter and his new dog. Raphael and Raymond treat you like family, a real asset. I have to give a shout-out to Lamar, who we just met on this trip. Lamar helped us with our bags upon arrival and departure. He is just like Raymond and Raphael, happy, smiling and genuinely helpful. It was great to hear about his two daughters. Also have to thank Morgan for booking our room and having the room ready upon arrival. She, too, was always smiling, asking if we needed anything. The hotel is welcoming, the rooms are huge, the beds super comfortable and the location is the best! Bathrooms are big and housekeeping does an extremely amazing job. We enjoyed an afternoon drink at Parker Quinn and breakfast there on the day of our checkout. Food and drinks are outstanding and the restaurant is so clean. All I can say is Refinery Hotel is extremely lucky to Raphael, Raymond, Lamar and Morgan representing your beautiful hotel. You don't always come across so many good people in one hotel. The four of you are making a difference, I honestly mean that so much. We can't wait to come back and see you all again. You are all the best, something you don't always find in today's world. Room was always maintained to high standard and staff were always smiling and welcoming walking through the reception. From before our arrival the concierge was in touch with us, helping us with anything that we needed. They gave us a great deal to upgrade our room to a suite, decorated the room for my husband‘s birthday, and even provided us with a complementary bottle of wine. The service was excellent through and through. The rooftop bar was amazing with delicious drinks. The room was huge, clean, and had wonderful bathroom amenities. We had breakfast in the hotel this morning with the bed-and-breakfast package and it was fantastic. Thank you.Jamilah and Ralph for making our stay wonderful! I can’t forget to mention the complementary wine offered upon check-in. That was a lovely bonus! We will definitely be returning.

The staff were warm, welcoming, and incredibly helpful throughout my visit. The rooms were spotless, beautifully designed, and the overall atmosphere of the hotel feels stylish and elevated. It’s the kind of place where you immediately feel taken care of. Now, I must discuss the bathroom experience… You step into the shower and are greeted by luxurious Le Labo toiletries, filling the room with that unmistakable luxury fragrance. Suddenly you feel like you’re getting ready in a spa, preparing for a day of glamorous New York adventures. But then…You reach for the hair dryer… and discover it’s REVLON but not just any Revlon hair dryer … one that appears to have been stolen from the local YMCA locker room circa 2004. GASP….Le Labo in the shower and a Revlon hair dryer is the most economically confusing design choice I’ve ever seen. The contrast is honestly impressive. One moment you’re living your best luxury girl shower life, the next you’re humbly blow drying your hair with something that sounds like it’s preparing for liftoff. All jokes aside, this hotel is fantastic. The service, cleanliness, and overall experience were excellent, and I would absolutely stay here again.

Very cool vibe throughout the hotel - from the rooms to the lounge to the amazing rooftop bar. The staff is always amazing but this trip we were especially wowed by Jamilah at the front desk. She gave us such a warm, friendly welcome and went out of her way each day to make sure we had everything we needed. Don’t waste time trying to decide. Just book the Refinery and you won’t be disappointed!

And yes the scented candles that they always have burning in the lobby are to die for... But I was very impressed with the front desk staff on this stay! - pbaiken (10/5): The People Make The Refinery Excellent - We have stayed at The Refinery multiple times over the past few years. We continue to choose this hotel for a number of reasons including location, room layout/space, and classic decor. What stands out however are the employees. The team at the front desk are always friendly and efficient. The gentlemen at the front door, particularly Ramon and Lamar, are exceptional. They worked hard to ensure I had the help I needed with transportation and luggage but more importantly they treated me with kindness. New York can be cold and impersonal however Ramon made me feel like a friend. That’s notable.
- Colin (5/5): - Room was large. The hotel and rooms felt pretty dated and tired, with noticeable wear throughout. Things could have been a lot cleaner, both the communal spaces and the rooms felt dusty and in my room there was some damaged furniture and several stains on the seating. The windows were really drafty too, which made the room uncomfortable and getting a decent night’s sleep was tough due to noise from both from the street and from neighbouring rooms. Overall, for what you’re paying, I didn’t feel it was worth it and wouldn’t book here again.

The hotel and rooms are amazing but I'll be completely honest, the individuals working there are truly harmonic people and the reason I always book with them. Every person I have interacted with at the refinery is wonderful, it really makes me feel at home whenever I stay there.

Always greeted with warmth, personal attention, above and beyond hospitality, spectacular views of the festively gleaming Empire State Building, live JAZZ bar, Rooftop Bar & Restaurant, stunning views, scrumptious bites and delectable cocktails. Most recently, eager to take in the NYC Christmas magic and my birthday, this boutique hotel, once again, far exceeded my expectations. An easy walk from Penn Station, a mere skip and hop from Bryant Park, Fifth Avenue, Central Park. . . The Refinery Hotel, a once upon a time hat factory, will have you returning again and again.
- 278annez (10/5): Love this Hotel! - We stayed at The Refinery for a girls trip. It was AMAZING! From the moment we arrived we were warmly welcomed by the doorman, then by Jamila at the front desk. Our rooms had a view of the Empire State Building! The rooms are spacious, comfortable, and quiet. The rooftop bar is fabulous. Location is perfect. We will be back! Thank you so much to everyone at The Refinery for making our stay so great!

I came into their attached restaurant Parker & Quinn through a rear entrance and as I was leaving discovered this treasure. The manager was gracious and passionate in his description of its amenities, and invited me to make my next stay in town at this location. I certainly will. Thank you!!

Low pressure on shower, issues with noisy heating (which were eventually solved), extremely small and ill equipped gym and no soundproofing on windows (so a lot of noise from outside).

Room was beautiful with a view of the Empire State Building. Very spacious. Will definitely return. Parking garage right across the street could not be more convenient.

- calirosen (10/5): The perfect hotel stay. - We recently took a trip to NYC for a weekend getaway and work meeting. The location of the refinery was perfect. Just a few blocks from Bryant park, in a very eclectic neighborhood. The atmosphere was upscale and swanky. It was dimly lit and very intimate. We stayed in the largest room offered, it boasted high ceilings, wooden furniture and a nice view of the Empire State Building. The value perfectly aligned with the offerings. The room was clean and beautifully dressed in balloons, and birthday decor which was an incredibly special treat, along with a bottle of wine and snack for two. The noise level was very low besides a few minor occurrences from emergency vehicles. I would recommend staying and the refinery to anyone for any occasion.

Everything felt thoughtful, polished, and consistently high quality. We had such a great time and cannot wait to come back and stay at the Refinery Hotel again. Aside from the location the staff was super friendly and attention to detail was superb. They offered me a complimentary bottle of wine for my birthday! I’m sure they’ll go above and beyond of any special occasion. If you’re staying here the rooftop is a must regardless of season. Sit back relax and enjoy a stellar cocktail with beautiful uninterrupted view of the Empire State Building. 10/10 experience

- Safari48154462451 (10/5): Awesome boutique hotel near Bryant Park - We really enjoyed our stay at the Refinery Hotel. The staff was very helpful and friendly, and the room exceeded our expectations. We stayed in the deluxe double queen room, and it was a very good size for New York standards. The bathroom was larger than any other hotel we've stayed at in the city, and the water pressure in the shower was awesome. The rooftop bar has a very cool ambiance and provides a great view of the Empire State Building. There's a jazz bar at the front of the hotel as you enter, and a restaurant at the back of the hotel. Just some really unique features throughout that make the Refinery Hotel stand out. Location of the hotel is very convenient, but at the same time is in a relatively quiet area. The staff even put out some decorations in our room to help us celebrate our daughter's birthday. Can't say enough good things about our experience, and already looking forward to going back.

I thought the value was great for what we paid (we did the breakfast voucher that worked great). The location felt very safe and was walkable to some major tourist/non-tourist stuff. Everything was kept very clean.

Room was generous in size and pretty quiet for NYC. Location was very convenient to shopping, Times Square and theaters, restaurants and transportation. On a more quiet street in the garment district. Loved the roof top bar as well. We requested a small fridge and it came quickly, no extra charge. The room was very dark and the largest light required you to plug and unplug it, no switch. The ice machine on our floor (7th) was broken so we had to request that. Minor hassle but for some it might be an issue.

From the moment you walk through the doors in the lobby, the warmth and smell is so comforting and welcoming. Rooms are always clean. Staff is wonderful! - KARAN (8/5): This isn’t an awful hotel at all. We probably wouldn’t stay here again though. If you are looking for a funky hotel in a - Fantastic location in midtown near 5th Avenue. We were there Christmas week and so near Bryant Park and Rockefeller centre and department stores so felt very festive. Parker & Quinn (hotel restaurant) food and staff and atmosphere fantastic! Loved it there! Room was huge and cool ! Great decor! Cool, trendy hotel with very large rooms. This didn’t seem like a true top 5* hotel to me. I sent about 4 emails to arrange transport to collect us from the airport. The replied to the 2nd one saying the taxi company they use would be in touch, they didn’t get in touch and The Refinery didn’t reply to my further 2 emails chasing it up. In the end we arranged our own taxi after asking re recommendations on social media. Arriving at the hotel and seeing how laid back the staff were it didn’t surprise me about the lack of communication. No doorman. Had to struggle with cases ourselves to reception desk. Reception desk staff were ok but not very interested or friendly. Just not a 5 star super efficient smiley experience (for context we usually stay at The Mercer and it’s a totally different experience there) We left the hotel at 4am and when our final bill was invoiced to us they had charged us for items from the mini bar we had not taken including a bottle or whiskey (check your final invoice carefully !!) Was then a pain to contact them to get the items removed. However when we did get through to them the person we spoke to did immediately remove them ) This wasn’t a great experience though. I feel this needs management to get on their staff to go above and beyond, be really friendly and super efficient and it would then offer a 5 star experience
