• Kay (5/5): Suppose to be a nice get away mother's day trip... but i was so tried from the first night noise. - Location is great The rooms facing the road are extremely noisy from traffic. I noticed it immediately after checking in, before I had even unpacked. I went to the front desk to ask if it was possible to move rooms, but was told that the garden-facing rooms would not be much better because road works would supposedly begin at 7am, even on a Sunday, and she said she did not want me to be woken up by that instead. Ironically, I was still woken up at 4:30am on Sunday morning by what sounded like drunk people loudly talking and laughing outside. Since the front desk staff member was not working again until 12pm, I ended up calling the sister hotel instead, and they happily arranged a room change for me straight away, which made it even more frustrating that this could apparently have been resolved much earlier. To be honest, after living in New Zealand for more than five years, I found the explanation about Sunday road works difficult to believe. The response felt dismissive rather than genuinely helpful.

• Jess (5/5): - Location was ideal, we liked the toaster, microwave & good size fridge in the room. There were very loud road works happening right outside our window which shook the whole building. I had booked the reservation back in December and at no point were we made aware of this disturbance. I would have address this upon check out however it was very rare you would find a staff member on reception.

• Roy (7/5): Napier is well worth a visit - The location was good easy to get to restaurants and shops, the room was clean and tidy. Parking wasn't easy as very limited parking space and reception had to organise parking facilities situated across the road. Parking, at first we were informed we had to pay for parking on the street, which was going to be expensive. Then we were able to use alternative parking facilities.

Besonderer Vorteil ist das beste Restaurant der Stadt, das gegenüber in der alten Feuerwehrwache ist. Die Rezeption ist nur zw. 12 und 18:00h besetzt. In Zeiten, in der Personal notwendig wäre, beim Checkout oder abends mit der überalterten Klimaanlage, ist niemand zu erreichen. Für den relativ hohen Preis ist das nicht ausreichend Service. Die Parksituation im Hof ist katastrophal……eng, kaum einzuparken.

• Justin (4/5): Poor linen cleanliness - Central to town. Carpark adjacent to the hotel were free after a certain time to 8am the following day so that helped also. The cleanliness of the linen was appalling! The towels that were provided had clearly been used and not washed which left an extremely strong body odour stench. I towel dry from the waist, legs then upper body and it wasn't until I got to my upper body when I noticed this smell, which meant I had to go and wash myself again. I ended up using the bathmat and face towel to dry my body which was not ideal whatsoever.

Not enough space to prepare microwave meals. More importantly the parking was totally unsatisfactory! Of the limited parking spaces available, most were difficult to access. With multiple pillars & confined space to manoeuvre a car, it was a very difficult challenge!

The room was spacious and bright and the balcony - we booked the room with balcony - was nice to have breakfast or a glass of wine. Elevator to the upper floors, room service if wanted, comfy large bed, decent fridge, cutlery and dishes. The carpark is tight but we managed to get our car in. Even though it's a hotel, reception is open only from 12 to 6 p.m. which means a lack of personal touch.

• Stuart (8/5): Nice relaxing stay. Clean, neat, and comfortable stay. - Very central location, short walk to town, shops, and other attractions. Supermarkets only minutes away also. Room was comfy. Airconditioning was effective, great blockout curtains. Room fronted street so wondered if we'd hear traffic, but no problems. Facility is old, but kept quite neat and clean. Parked car over the road in the multi-level park no issues. Download Parkmate app. Easy. Park around the corner (Cliver Square) had quite a few 'dodgy' (I know judgemental aren't I) characters. Wifey didn't feel safe walking through there, and I wouldn't after evening. Not the hotel's problem, but something to note.

• Andreas (8/5): - Sehr freundliches und hilfsbereites Personal. Zuwenig Parkplätze, aber Superregelung der Kostenübernahme vom gegenüberliegenden Parkhaus. Absolute zentrale Toplage, so dass man gut auf das Auto verzichten kann. Es wird kein Frühstück angeboten, was nicht tragisch ist. Gegenüber im alten Feuerwehr-Gebäude existiert eine sehr gute Alternative.

• Rasmus (7/5): Provided safe parking, proximity to central stuff and restaurant - Nice location and good parking private for visitors and close to interesting parts of Napier and Bistronomy. Decent room. Slept well and easy to leave early. Felt room was a little basic and was missing some easy/cheap to fix things.
