- Simon (5/5): Location was great for Bakewell town and as a place to put your head down for the night, it was OK. - Location very good. Warm even without heating on. On suite bathroom fine with sufficient complimentary toiletries & towels. Bed comfortable enough. Out of date 'complimentary' breakfast cereal bar. Wonky toilet seat. Loud, possibly central heating, noises in the night that may have caused me to awake at 3:45 both nights! Thin walls as very clear snoring emanating from next room. Accessed the room almost every time via the rear fire escape as the pub was seemingly unstaffed outside of their usual pub opening hours. No access to any breakfast on site unless they felt a cereal bar or a pot of instant porridge was their idea of breakfast. With 6 scatter cushions in a room but only one chair, this seemed excessive.

- Wendy (10/5): 5 ⭐ experience - Traditional pub perfect location stuff was so friendly and welcoming nothing was too much trouble. Our room was amazing The bathroom was stunning. You would think you were in a five star Hotel the tea and coffee tray. I’ve never seen anything like it loads of coffee plenty of teabags, milk sweeteners, sugar, even cordial sachets to add to your water. 4 biscuits plenty of toiletries we didn’t wanna leave definitely will be coming back!!!!!!!! Bin men at 5am

Separate entrance if you don't want to go through the pub. Guy behind the bar was extremely helpful and polite. Made us feel very welcome. Pub food at night was excellent. Good menu choices and prompt service. Good value for money. Excellent new bathroom, but the shower does not drain quickly enough for the power of the shower, so I had to keep turning it on and off to let the water drain properly. There is not much storage space for clothing, just a hanging rack, and 2 small drawers. Parking is a little way from the pub. Did not serve breakfast, and the hospitality tray was not restocked on the second day.

- David (8/5): - Very cosy room above a pub in the centre of town with lots options to eat within yards. Great for a one night stopover. Cheap parking avaliable just round the corner if you have a car Just be warned no breakfast is served but there are plenty of places in the town.

Nice touch with breakfast supplies left and plenty of biscuits etc. Parking suggestion on email directed us to a car park that didn't allow overnight parking. Could hear quite a bit of noise from the road, so would suggest you bring ear plugs.

The bed was so comfortable, the shower was a little small but had amazing pressure that more than made up for it and the amenities provided were exceptional. The pub below was also a great place to grab dinner. I didn't want to leave. Truly a perfect place to stay for a night before a trip to Chatsworth house!

Good price for Bakewell accommodation but in need of refurbishing - The staff were very helpful and friendly and couldn’t do enough. Whilst there was plenty of things that were good, the decor was in need of improvement. I liked the amount of treats such as biscuits, orange juice, porridge pots, breakfast bars etc. there were marks on the wall and a cracked sink. The room could be lovely as it had original beams and windows but dated anyglipta wallpaper and the bathroom needed replacing.

- Claire (9/5): Good central pub with rooms.. - The location is brilliant, right in the centre of town, opposite the bus stops, surrounded by shops and cafes but not noisy inside. The food in the pub downstairs is excellent, we ate there both nights of our stay. It was very busy 6-8pm and last orders for food was 7.30pm so I would suggest booking a table. We were there in November and were surprised how many tourists were around. The bed was comfortable and the breakfast tray was loaded with goodies. The room was a little shabby, it could do with being redecorated.

We had to stop showering to allow the water to drain before continuing, otherwise it’d pour over and flood the bathroom.

- Nora (9/5): Overall wonderful stay - The location was wonderful, right next to the original Bakewell shop and right in the middle of town. The room was so comfy, especially the bed, one of the best I have ever stayed in. The staff that I did interact with were all really kind and accommodating. A great stay overall. There were only two downsides; since the pub didn't open until mid day you could not drop your bags off before you check in, and leaving the room is weird outside of open hours. Also there was hair all around the room, they did provide teas and stuff but there was a hair in the kettle so those weren't used.

Nothing really, bathroom door could have been painted to modernise it if I was going to be picky, but overall a fantastic stay that exceeded expectations.

- Tanya (7/5): A lovely pub, but room 2 needs a bit of TLC - Inside the pub was nice and cosy. We stayed in room 2, it smelled fusty, the bed and linens were all fresh and clean. So I should imagine it was the smell of the carpet. Bathroom was ok, everything you needed but the walls needed painting, stained and splashes on them.
- kevin (1/5): The Hotel was so bad it has even put me off ever staying in Bakewell again. - For £149 pounds a night the least you would expect is a cooked breakfast,The bathroom stank of sewage .particularly in the morning and last but not least the bar closed at 9.30 pm.Overall we paid a lot of money for a terrible stay.Would definately advise anyone against it.A nice assortment of biscuits. Everything that the "Red Lion Hotel" purported to be.

- Muriel (4/5): Disappointing. - No breakfast at the red lion As two elderly people ages 91 and 85 . This pub was not suitable for us. We are both reasonably fit for our ages but found the stairs challenging.

- gioia (6/5): Okay - Location is superb, right on the main road Had all you needed for a short stay with coffee/tea making facilities Reasonably clean Noisy. The room is a bit overcluttered and crammed. The bed was like sleeping on a marshmallow. Some people might like that, but I woke up with a backache. Didn't bother us too much as we only stayed for one night. But would at least consider a different room if staying longer, and overall, it's not great value for money considering what you get vs what you pay.

- Carol (7/5): good pub and enjoyed our stay but would have preferred a quieter room - friendly staff clean room good food our room had what sounded like an air conditioning unit outside which was going on and off all through the night. i think this was probably from a neighbouring property not the pub itself. there was a fan in the room which helped with the hot weather but the fan was very noisy
- KERRY (5/5): - After a mistake by the chef around an allergy, the staff were very kind and understanding and the manager went above and beyond to do what she could to improve the situation. The room was well stocked with drinks and breakfast snacks. Which was great as we had to leave earlier than planned due to illness and so we could take some things on the road. The room was clean with plenty of towels and wash things, and the little note to say a child had helped with the cleaning was really lovely and gave a homely feel. I thought the room was very small, with an extra bed in there, we booked a double room for 2 adults for my husbands birthday. The food in the pub that my husband ate was just average cheap pub food. We booked to eat at 7.30 and we're rushed to choose food as they were waiting to close the kitchen. The chef didn't check for allergens which caused the evening to be less pleasurable that we'd planned - the bar maids saw us out later on and seemed to find it funny to see us trying to enjoy the rest of the night, which made me feel uncomfortable.
