Guest Reviews
- mr paul (6/5): - upon arrival, greeted by friendly bar staff and shown to room. in room a couple of minutes and loud really loud music started and continued . went back to bar, asked about, it was coming from the kitchen. this is regular. nice bar staff asked them to turn it down, i had to knock on the floor in my room because still too loud to make business calls. turned down again, then kept creeping up. to see how far they could push me i guess. an amount of talking beneath window but not terrible for a pub. the two ladies at the bar are fantastic. large car park. laundry bag kept at the top of the stairs seemed odd.
disappointing this has the potential to be special,
- Stephen (8/5): - Great location, friendly staff, good food, would have given all 5 stars but the room could do with a bit of maintenance, but would definitely recommend
- Jeanette (8/5): - Always return time afterctime as love the area, our room is always great could just do with couple of upgrades such as the mattress and the small bathroom window is slightly broken, small things and wouldnt stop me coming back
- Keith (10/5): Pit stop - The room was great, smart clean and spacious with tea coffee water etc. View through the window was ok, but step outside it was great. Staff great, food good. Good value for money i thought.
- Ruth (8/5): - Unfortunately we stayed in Bedroom no 2.
The large bed was made up of 2 single beds pushed together.
I slept on the bed nearest the window that faced the car park.
The mattress was old and very uncomfortable as the springs were worn out.
The other mattress that my husband slept on was not quite as bad.
The duvet cover was also torn.
Apart from that we had a very enjoyable stay and everyone was very friendly.
Views were amazing!
- Fiona (2/5): - Terrible room, the most uncomfortable bed ive ever slept in. No hot water. Loud young group of staff banging doirs until late. View of beer barrels and staff going out staircase so no privacy. Noone at reception when i left to speak to. No reply when i sent feedback ! Is there a manager here ? Not sure where the great reviews are coming from !
- Anthony (6/5): - Bath was not the best
- Urik (8/5): - No breakfast - such a shame
- Tracy (10/5): - Nice room, clean and comfortable
- neil (10/5): - Two night midweek stay, clean comfortable room, friendly and helpful staff.
Popular place, lovely setting next to the river with plenty of outside seating to enjoy the good weather.
- David (10/5): - Good location easy parking and good meals available. Room very nice with recently refurbished bathroom, liked the fact you could go in and out without going through the bar area
- Alison (10/5): - Riverside pub with amazing views, offering comfortable rooms with everything required for an overnight stay.
- lindsey (10/5): My birthday stay at the halfmoon near Ironbridge - The stay was amazing from Start to finish the staff work so hard and nothing was to much trouble clean comfortable outstanding room location fantastic we will be returning food Fantastic 😊
- David (8/5): Great location and very clean room - Lovely clean room and in a very scenic location next to R. Severn. Unfortunately wi-fi was unreliable and unable to connect on several occasions during the stay.
- MARTIN (6/5): - Fabulous setting & lovely staff.
One of the worst beds I’ve slept in.
Cheap open-coil mattress!
- Stephen (10/5): Perfect River Break. - Fantastic hotel, amazing location and staff and food wonderful.
- Daniel (8/5): - Good location, can be very busy and was a bit noisy. Good dinner and lots of beverage options but no breakfast offered.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Visit to Ironbridge. - Had a one night stay; very pleasant surroundings and lovely room , riverside setting and peaceful hotel. would definitely stay again
- Darren (10/5): - Stayed here about 4 times now and always a favourite for this area.
Great location next to the river, good restaurant and super staff!
- Jeanette (10/5): - Very freindly staff, lovely property with plenty to do in the area
- Allison (8/5): - Some great walks from here and lovely and quiet. Room was on the smaller side, but super clean and a decent size en-suite. Having a fridge was great.
- Patrick (6/5): - Area was lovely near a great maws craft mill and cafe
Mattress needs renewing
And we were above the bar so could hear the bar music everyone talking
- michael (8/5): Unsatisfactory Administration of Key code - The Good --- Nice sized warmm very clean room with good toilitries / biscuite water tea etc. Pub is in a lovely position on the side of the river in a quite location.
The Bad -- The pub was shut Monday and Tuesday (My 2 nights) so no one was on site. I arrived at the pub at 6.00 pm and couldnt get in. Apparantly the key was outside the door in a box for which you needed a key code, which I didnt have. I had ckecked my emails the night before (about 8.00 pm)and there was nothing regards my stay (I was leaving at 5 a m monday morning so didnt check emails before departing home) On arriving The internet signal is bad at the location so I couldnt access my emails. I finally managed to contact someone (A young lady) with the Key code. which meant i was sitting around for about 30 minutes. I was told i was sent the key code in an email the night before. On being able to access my emails I found it was sent at 8.36 PM the previou night (Sunday). VERY POOR ADMINISTRATION I dont see any logic in sending details so late the night before a stay.
- Sandra (10/5): - Very comfortable stay,Excellent for price charged, will defineitly revisit for pleasure
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Really enjoyed my stay there, food was excellent and the staff were all very helpful and friendly. Being a busy pub it was a bit noisy at certain times but that's only to be expected. Great stay and will definitely go back there.
- Lindsay (8/5): - Hotel dining was not open so wasn’t able to try it. Check closing days before booking if you want to eat there. Room was clean, comfortable and warm. Recommended it to colleagues who have also booked rooms and been equally happy. Sadly couldn’t use recently due to price increase at half term.
- Kay (10/5): - Property was in a lovely location, staff were friendly and welcoming, food was good and rooms were clean and comfortable
- Anthony (10/5): - Really nice accommodation for a business trip.
- Craig (10/5): - Perfect for what I needed. And waking up next to the river was fantastic.
Will definitely stay again!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Lovely spacious family room. Really warm. Comfortable bed.
- Jeanette (10/5): - Love the rooms, so comfortable with all ammenities you need even mini fridge for youre drinks, price of rooms are cheap , easy walkable to more pub in both directions, enjoyed it so much weve booked forvapril this year
- Peter (8/5): - Nice setting and must be amazing in the summer
- john (6/5): - The problem with the Inn was on our 12 night stay, they cleaned the room a total of 3 times. Their excuse was their housekeeper took the week off. They did leave clean towels. We ran out of toilet rolls so we had to call someone to bring some to us since there was no one on site. When they brought towels to our room. The door was left opened. Not very safe.
We had the family room so i suggest if you stay in this room with your children think twice. It is over the kitchen and the kitchen staff play their music very loud. It took us a bit to sleep.
- Patricia (10/5): - It was the 3rd time I'd stayed at the Half Moon, convenient location and cosy room.
- JAMES (6/5): check with hotel re: breakfast - it came as a surprise to find the hotel devoid of staff and no breakfast on our Monday morning departure after a 2 night stay.
- Nicola (2/5): - Lovely room, large bed, large bathroom, great facilities.
However received an email 10 days after booking and after cancellation period to say hotel is shut on a Monday and Tuesday and I would have to let myself in with a key from a key store and there were no staff working, nowhere to eat and no breakfast. I arrived in the dark, it was secluded, badly lit and very difficult to get the keys from the key safe. As a woman travelling alone I felt very exposed and therefore hardly slept. I was aware that there were men staying at the same time as one arrived just after me before I had got into my room. I had picked the hotel because it had great reviews and good food ratings.
I’m sure when it’s open it’s a different story but I think it should be made clear on booking that It’s shut on Monday/Tuesday.
- Matt (8/5): - A nice room above a nice pub. Breakfast isn't included, but it's a short walk into Ironbridge for all the cafes and shops there. The car park is huge but it also a popular spot for drinkers by the river. The staff were very nice and helpful. The room was noisy until pub closing, but this wasn't a problem as it is a room above a pub.
- Mike (8/5): - Just what we needed for an overnight stop
- Janine (8/5): - Perfect place for a short stay while we were exploring the local area
- Denise (10/5): - Great for an overnight stay. Excellent food and very comfortable room. Friendly staff and warm welcome. Would come again.
- Alison (10/5): Riverside Ironbridge - Overnight stay at riverside pub. Fantanstic location, friendly staff and a good choice of meals. Accommodation is clean and quiet.
- William (10/5): - All good and clean. Unfortunately they don’t do breakfast, so that was a problem.
- Freda (10/5): - We had really nice room overlooking the river. Very clean and modern. Fabulous bathroom and comfy bed. Great walk to Ironbridge from there. Lots of free parking. Had dinner at their restaurant on the banks of the River Severn. Very busy, so slow service, but good food.
- Jane (10/5): - Beautiful setting and really friendly and helpful staff
- Rob (10/5): Amazing place - I’ve now stayed at the Half Moon Inn for 3 weeks in a row for work and it’s never disappointed me once. I even left a ring there this morning and they’ve found it for me and put it in their safe. Great environment for both business and pleasure stays
- Rob (10/5): Great place for a stay - Great place, nice and comfortable rooms and great food. I’ve stayed there twice in 2 weeks and am back tomorrow.
- Gary (10/5): - My brother and I had a spacious family room which was clean and refreshed every day. Bunk bed wasn’t good for an adult but probably fine for kids. Room was warm and shower was strong.
Staff were very friendly and helpful in the pub on an evening. Nige was chatty and especially helpful with parking our motorbikes overnight
No breakfast included or available, sadly, but a good choice of evening pub grub. Be mindful of long waits on busy weekends.
- Katie (10/5): Great location - Very comfortable stay in a beautiful location. Better than photos I think.
- Rob (10/5): Really great place for the views, food and rooms - Great place, nice atmosphere, great food and an amazing location. I’ve actually just booked today to go back next week.
- Neil (10/5): - Beautiful spot by the river, where you can sit and chill with a drink. Service was very good and attentive with lovely food at a reasonable price!
- Claire (8/5): Perfect for our needs. - Lovely location overlooking the river. 15 minute drive to Telford International Centre (we were there for my daughter’s cheer competition). Close to Ironbridge which is gorgeous. Nice big room and great shower. Lovely staff.
- Simon (8/5): - very nice thanks you
- Verified traveler (4/5): Not a good stay - The hotel was ok overall but the room i had i could not sleep as the music was loud and on until midnight. The food was not great i could see that the other diners food came out looking nice but when mine came out looked different to there's. Plus on the second night they didn't bring the onion rings and had to ask form them.
- Andrew (10/5): - All good, room very warm as possibly over the kitchen. Might not suit warm blooded person
- vinent (10/5): great night away - Only went for a night away and a good meal, Never been before, Room was very good and immaculate. Lovely gardens near the river for use in summer. Got to say one of the best meals we have had for ages. Mushrooms and bruschetta for starters, lasagne and fajita's for mains. Gentle hint share a starter, mains huge but both wonderful and drinks well priced. Party of 24 in for a birthday meal but didn't affect our service at all. No room for sweets!!! 2starters, 2 mains 3 Guinness 2 large rose wine and change from £100. We will be back soon
- Suzanne (10/5): - Beautiful
- Angela (10/5): Lovely riverside break - Beautiful spot by the River Severn with plenty of outdoor tables and benches. Easy access to Ironbridge Gorge and Museums. Also Jackfield Tile Museum up the road and Maws Craft centre nearby. Something for everyone.
- Owen (10/5): Always stay here :) - I always stay here when I run the Silkin Way Ultramarathon annually.
I would not stay anywhere else, purely because the rooms are sooooo nice, cosy, warm, clean, and just perfect.
The food is also great here.
All in all along with the lovely staff, it's a fantastic place to stay.
- David (8/5): Nice hotel - I arrived late, but the restaurant stayed open for me, even thought it wasn't busy. Staff were really friendly.
The only comment was the bed was not comfy
- Karen (10/5): - Very friendly, nice room, we were given keys to pub back door with separate entrance so we could come and go as we liked. Lovely big car park. Excellent food in the pub but unfortunately no breakfast which in my opinion is a shame. My room was above kitchens so I could smell food but kitchens closed quite early and after that it was fine. I would stay here again for sure.
- Andrew (10/5): - Overall the location and setting is quite beautiful, and relaxing, especially by the river. The rooms were clean and tidy, the atmosphere in the bar and restaurant was pleasant and comfortable.
The food on offer was very good and the Cod Loin delicious
- David (10/5): Relaxing break. - Staff friendly, hotel clean and tidy. Food very good. Fantastic location and overlooking the river. Within walking distance of the museums and Ironbridge.
- Mark (8/5): Half Moon - Had an excellent stay other than the bed being very uncomfortable due to damaged springs. Reported to staff when checking out and they said they would let the owners know. Otherwise clean and well presented. Bathroom was excellent. Ample parking and nice setting. Bar was modern but comfortable. Food was excellent. Breakfast well worth the extra cost
- Ben (10/5): - Very clean, great location, friendly staff.
Would stay again.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Good pub, bad b&b - Booked to stay friday to monday. On arrival had to complain about the music blasting through the room from the kitchen which was downstairs below the room. After 4 complaints and threatening to leave it was finally turned off. After paying the outstanding balance on the room, the music was once again turned up, left early. Food was nice but would never stay here again
- Nick (4/5): - It all started with a grunt from a young girl as I checked in. No record of my booking, had to prove with my email. No breakfast served during the week. Add in the 50 year old mattress, the threadbare towels and the entire lack of charisma and you have something that should never be classed as hospitality. Time for a career change perhaps? I will not return.
- ROBERT (10/5): - Another great stay at the Half Moon Inn.
I've been coming here many times over the years, for business purposes and when I've kayaked down the severn. This place has always provided a peaceful and scenic rest point. I'm sure I'll back down the line
- Deborah (8/5): Weekend break - Lovely large room, which was very clean. The furniture in the room was all good quality and the fridge excellent for storing a few items in. It was nice to have a table and chairs to sit at! The staff were all friendly and the one meal we ate at the pub delicious. The only complaint I have is the bed needs a new mattress. It looks half collapsed touching the side all the springs can be felt and really wasn’t very comfy at all. I’d certainly stay again if the mattress was replaced.
- Georgina (10/5): - Beautiful position, plenty of free parking, Evening meal very good, waiter was only too happy to provide extra cushions for dining chair which for me was too low for the table. Beautifully clean room, compact but well designed and very cheap for single occupancy of a small double room. The only issue was the the manner I was greeted with upon arrival , distinct lack of customer care or charm
- Robert (10/5): Short break - Our stay was very enjoyable, all the staff were friendly and helpful. Our room was very nice and clean. The food was very nice and service was very good.
- John (10/5): - Enjoyed my stay going back again in the near future.
- Mary (10/5): - Enjoyed Riverside position, beautiful surroundings and places of historic interest. Staff very welcoming. Very reasonably priced, definitely would visit again.
- anthony (8/5): Would recommend :-) - Only small thing to moan about was that the breakfast was not up to scratch. Hash browns and veggie sausages overcooked, otherwise a fantastic place to stay :-)
- OWEN (10/5): Gorgeous Place and Highly Recommended - A really lovely restaurant and hotel.
Clean and nice size rooms. The food was gorgeous and great portion sizes which were excellent value for money.
Staff were friendly and chatty as well as polite.
Service was fantastic.
The room was lovely, fresh and the bed was very comfortable.
Cannot recommend this place enough, it was just perfect
- Verified traveler (6/5): Convenient but there’s better options nearby. - Helpful manager. Really convenient rooms right off the carpark, so running in and out in a hurry was super easy. Room and bathroom were spacious.
Filthy bathroom- brown water in the toilet and hairs/suds/grime in the bath.
Fridge (reason for choosing the room) didn’t keep my meds cool and buzzed all night. Mattress was on its last legs.
- David (8/5): - Great location and convenient, ideal for my weekend trip to Telford
- stephen (8/5): - Lovely location on the bank of river.Large car park and a scenic , one mile walk to Ironbridge.
- STEPHEN (10/5): Half Moon Jackfield. - Excellent stay at Half Moon. Comfortable bed, large room. Easy walking distance to the museums,
Staff extremely friendly, no hesitation in making your stay enjoyable.Breakfast and evening meals very good. We will certainly stay here again.
- michael (10/5): 2 night stay - Lovel location on a quite road good access and nice to hear the owls hooting at night. Good walks straight from the door
- M (10/5): Excellent Accommodation - Great location, friendly helpful staff, large impressive room.
- Matthew (8/5): Lovely setting, nice room but a few niggles - On the face of it a really surprisingly nice room. However, a giant following fire exit sign inside the room disrupted sleep and the wi-fi was patchy at best. Wi-fi is important here as the phone signal is poor. couldn't really work from the room in the evening.
- Jonathan (10/5): Nice helpful staff - Friendly person to greet me - thank you.
Not easy to find in the dark
Interesting part of the world
Accommodation was to a decent standard, clean and tidy
Not expensive.
- MIKAELA (10/5): - Beautiful setting
- Alison (10/5): Little gem 💎 - Clean affordable pub accomodation with friendly staff and a good menu. All set in a beautiful location.
- susan (10/5): - The pub is in a fabulous place, right beside the canal and we were lucky with the weather, so could sit in the sunshine and enjoy a beer. The staff ( especially Keeley) were friendly and helpful.
- Alexandra (10/5): - We stayed in a double room for one night and I would definitely recommend. The room was very comfortable and well thought out. Couldn't fault it for cleanliness. We ate in the bar in the evening. Very good meal and attentive, friendly staff.
- David (10/5): Bbq stay - Everything was spot on the room the service and the breakfast
- Gary (10/5): - Have stayed here a couple of times now and enjoyed the overall experience.
- Graham (10/5): - All verry good although food service a bit slow
- Jack (10/5): - Food was great, had crispy cauliflower, beef shortrib and white choc & pistachio cheesecake all excellent
- David (10/5): Room with a view! - Lovely setting with view of the River Servern from the room. Very good food in the spacious restaurant also overlooking the River. Room and facilities very good.
- kevin (10/5): Loved our stay - Love this place. Nice restaurant attached, comfy bed, good shower, love the river nearby.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Excelkent - Beautifull surroundings
Location ideal for local
Attractions
- Jacqueline (8/5): - Love this hotel cosy friendly. Staff are wonderful. Wi-Fi not always available in rooms.
- Dave Palmer (10/5): - Very nice place and location to stay for visit to the international centre in Telford.
Staff very friendly and helpful.
- Jamie (8/5): - None
- Allen (8/5): Taking advantage ? - I have used this place a lot and thoroughly enjoy the service food location etc, and whereas I realise that the Covid situation has caused problems all around, when the price goes up and then breakfast is no longer included too it seems like a double whammy and is somewhat disappointing.
Another excellent company and 'product' spoilt by taking advantage of a situation and penalising the customers by what seems to be petty money making tactics.
- Alyson (10/5): - The hotel was in a great location, great food both breakfast and dinner. Staff could not do enough to help and were friendly and helpful. Will definitely recommend and will be returning.
- Chris (10/5): Absolutely amazing. - Amazing staff, amazing building, amazing view and amazing food.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Half Moon Jackfield - Great friendly staff and great food
