Important Information
Please be aware that being a grade II listed building Invicta Hotel does not have a elevator. 3rd floor rooms are reduced in price to compensate for this but may not be suitable for guests with mobility problems. If you require a lower floor room, please let the hotel know when making a reservation.
Children and pets may only stay on the first and second floor. The stairwells are narrow and cannot accommodate children or pets. There are no extra beds available for children as well. Family rooms have the extra bed for children
We provide Private Parking at the Hotel and it must be reserve prior to the Check-in date with £10 charge per day.Guests are required to show a photo ID and credit card upon check-in. Please note that all Special Requests are subject to availability and additional charges may apply.

- Ian (10/5): Small friendly hotel with excellent staff. - Excellent location very close to Plymouth Hoe. Small very friendly hotel with excellent staff. The cooked breakfast of smoked salmon and scrambled eggs was my go to start to the day. Well cleaned bedroom. One suggestion - put up a note in Reception HAVE YOU RETURNED YOUR ROOM KEY ? Reception was not staffed when I left and forgot. It’s a solid metal security key so I phoned to apologise and posted it back.

- Charles (7/5): Lovely Hotel and Breakfast, Shame About the Parking and Bar Options 🍻 - Stayed at the Invicta Hotel recently. Nice hotel in a great location with friendly staff and a really tasty breakfast 👌 The room was comfortable and overall it was an enjoyable stay. A couple of things to be aware of though, parking is very limited and needs to be pre booked, which was not made particularly clear during the booking process. Unfortunately I ended up paying around £20 for on street parking nearby. Also slightly disappointing that the bar had no draught beers available during my stay.

Staff very pleasant and helpful. Being able to leave the car for the whole length of our stay was well worth it. Shower. Water flow was very slow. Toilet flush needed attention. Thought TV on wall too high. Rickety wardrobe. Window mechanism seemed partially jammed. Loud noise when closing door when leaving room as no handle to pull door shut. Although we knew we would be on the 3rd floor the 50+ steps were quite a climb especially carrying a case

If you want ultra modern or boutique then this isn't the place for you. However, the areas needing a Little TLC are limited and age related. I feel it adds to the charm and inkeeping with the age of the property. I love it and its my go to when visiting my son at uni.

The decor of the hotel is inconsistent with some rooms more modern and other rooms more dated. The mattress was hard which wasn't a problem myself, but could be to others. The room that I stayed in, the walls were thin and could hear the tenants next door. Also, there were some holes in the side tables where my keys fell down and had to get the staff to retrieve them - suggest they get filled.

- Cameron (3/5): Pretty dreadful... - - Good location - The lady serving breakfast was pleasant but rushed off her feet as she was the only one on duty - Awful room under the stairs on the ground floor (marked private, no room number despite being given a key with a number) - Two separate beds put together (the gap in between could be felt quite badly when trying to sleep) - The room was in serious need of a refurb (see photos) - Most definitely not 4 star hotel standard (didn't even feel like 3 star) - Very pricey for what it was - The shower was small and was in what looked like a cupboard - The toilet was a little dirty - Noisy people upstairs (very thin ceilings/no insulation) - The room was very cold - Heavily stained carpets - The breakfast was pretty bad (the sausage is advertised as a "premium" sausage but I cannot imagine there was much meat in it, it was grey and pretty disgusting) - I'm not sure when the photos were taken but I was really looking forward to this stay and the hotel looks nothing like the photos
- Ille M. (10/5): Perfect escape. - Very stylish little boutique hotel with a fabulous breakfast. Lovely helpful staff. I'm so happy I found this place and chose to stay here. Would visit again and stay longer for next time. It is a short walk from the seaside and Aquarium. We walked to the cinema in the evening and had dinner at a nearby restaurant, too many to choose from. Room had tea/coffee and kettle. Netflix. I could live there. There was nothing to complain about. Everything was great.

- Simon (9/5): Jewel in Plymouth's Crown! - The location is first class being a stones throw from the Eddystone lighthouse and sea front on Plymouth Hoe. The hotel is immaculate and clean, the staff were some of the most friendly and polite I have met for many a travel experience. The room was spacious and very well decorated and the bathroom immaculate and plenty of toiletries. We didn't need to park as went by train but there is an ample car park at the rear of the hotel. The hotel looks out over a memorial park which is beautiful in itself and the staff were very helpful with local knowledge and you are about a 5 minute walk into the Town or the Barbican where the main bars and restaurants are located. All in all a very beautifully presented hotel with great location, facilities, staff and comforts, I would strongly recommend this to anyone staying in Plymouth for a few days or more as near to evertyhing! Nothing really as provided everything and more we needed and expected!

- stephen (3/5): The three “P” apply here… ex- military or military will be familiar abbreviation - Breakfast … this is what made me try this hotel again. Now this may sound trivial…but it’s still personal property. Things were removed from my room ( after house keeping cleaned), half a bottle of water ( originally 2, ltr bottle ), plus my personal tea bags, that I take everywhere. Like I have said. It’s not the monetary value , 100%, but it’s still my personal property. In all fairness the night manager, did give me more bottled water, and an apology. Out of the 3, nights only once was the heating put on of an evening, and I did ask for it to be put on, every night. As the rooms on the top floor are cold, irrespective of the day time temperature in March…this was my second time at this hotel, but unfortunately it will be my last. As the same issue accrued with the heating on my last trip.

- Emma (8/5): - The staff were outstanding, so friendly and helpful and the location was excellent being next to the Hoe. The room was very clean and comfortable. My only real points are that the room we had could have done with a bit of updating and perhaps double glazing fitted as the sash windows don't keep out any noise from the road directly outside.

- Lynn (8/5): Overall a very nice stay. We would return but ask for any other floor apart from the top floor. - It was a listed building with some original interesting features which we loved. Great selection at breakfast. We had the Eggs Royale which was delicious. The staff were friendly especially Donna on reception. The hotel itself is in a perfect location a stones throw away from the Hoe. There was a comfortable lounge and bar but we didn’t use these. It was lovely and clean. Our room was at the top of the property on the fourth floor and was extremely hot even though the heating was not on, and we had the window wide open but there was hardly any air coming in even on a cold evening, hence to say we didn’t sleep much. A fan was provided but this is too noisy.The shower tray was broken in the corner with a jagged edge which could have been dangerous stepping out of the shower if we had not noticed this.

Good location paper thin walls, could hear next door talking, very frustrating and incredibly noisy mopeds and cars speeding or joy riding outside made it hard to get to sleep ( but sadly that's Plymouth for you ). I was so tired and annoyed by it that I didn't want to stay for breakfast.
