• cyclotourism (10/5): We love coming here, year after year - Easy access into town. Great location close to the beach. Shop on ground floor. Walking distance to the restaurant. And lovely mountain views from the deck outside. Will be back.
• phildX5768WX (8/5): An Amazing Apartment - We booked this accommodation based on its reviews and were really delighted. The arrival is a bit confusing as you appear to arrive in a shopping mall car park, but don’t be put off. Once you find the lifts up to reception, all is well and there’s plenty of help with luggage and you can move the car into a secure car park. The apartment sleeps six so we only used one room and although there’s a massive balcony off the lounge area there isn’t much of a see view. We ate out most of the time but had one breakfast which was perfectly fine - you select off a list with a highlight pen and bingo the chef delivers exactly what you want. Absolutely brilliant value for money and is highly recommended
• Taschie1 (8/5): Great location - The house was huge! And we had two bedrooms with bathrooms. That was amazing! the view from my room was lovely. Especially with sunset. In the are there are restaurants, a mall and the coast walk to spot whales. Very nice location. Breakfast was ok, but nothing much. You can better go get breakfast somewhere else. Staff was very nice and helpfull.

We stayed in an apartment and loved it. Good kitchen, and living room. It was a 3 bhk, and two of the rooms were small, but comfortable.

• Angela (10/5): Family stay for one night. - The staff at the hotel were super friendly and amazing! We arrived early, our room wasn’t ready but they gave us another room righter away. That was so appreciated as we travelled long days to get there. However, our room was dated and worn. Living room furniture very worn out and not comfortable, perhaps our original room was to be more updated I’m not sure. But I was quite disappointed with the state of the accommodations. The location was perfect! The people were helpful and friendly!
• amys451 (10/5): A lovely stay. - Absolutely lovely stay. An unusual hotel positioned within a small shopping mall, all of the hotel is located on the 1st floor with shops below. But it’s shut at night so no issues with noise. The room was 2 storey and massive. Was handy to come back after a meal out and be able to grab a bottle of wine to take back to our room to enjoy the view from our balcony. Breakfast was lovely, full English plus continental. Staff were lovely and underground secure parking was available. Location was perfect, a short walk down to the bars and restaurants on the seafront, where you could watch whales from the shore. A free lido is available at the seafront too!

• DoctorRickofUSC (10/5): Great staff, excellent location, and wonderful accommodations - We stayed in Hermanus for a couple of nights. The hotel is accessed by elevator on the second floor of a shopping center. It was convenient in location which is close to the water, shopping, art galleries and restaurants. We had a 4 bedroom apartment that was 2 levels. It had a nice kitchen, dining room, balcony patio, living room and en suites for 2 bedrooms. The access to parking was a private parking area which utilized a key fob behind a gate. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Gift was very helpful with our luggage and guiding us to the parking garage. The cleaning staff were very nice. The property managers were also exceedingly helpful. There was an included breakfast which was nice. The shopping mall below had a grocery store, liquor store, and other shops which was convenient after driving there from Cape Town. We enjoyed the rooms, the town and the sights. Parking was convenient and many things were easily within walking distance. I’d love to stay here again.
• Alan (4/5): one night in Hermanus - Unfortunately the property had roof leaks and so two of the bedrooms we couldn't use properly once it started raining so made the stay not pleasant at all. Because it was about 2am that the water came through it was way too late to try and change apartments. looking at the wardrobes it has obviously been leaking for a long period as they had swollen up. The staff were apologetic though once we told them on check out
• Duokrp (6/5): Average stay for a 4-star hotel - Very nice at this hotel, but slowly they shall have to think about an upgrade. the things that were great at the unit was the bedding and the kitchen with its utentils. In our bathroom , the plug for the washbasin did not work and in our bedroom , the bedside lights did not work. The remote for the TV was also absent. I just felt that for a 4-star hotel, these things should be in order. Then please take care of your personal belongings. I left one of my jackets in the cupboard and it is now lost. They could not found it. The braai was also not cleaned and I had to go and buy my own grid because the one supplied was very dirty.
• Kevin (6/5): Nice hotel with unfriendly maintenance man - Overall this place was fine. It is a bit odd because it is in a mall but I knew that. But here is where our problems started. We had a few minor maintenance issues in the unit. I had booked a 3 bedroom unit but they put us in a 4 bedroom unit. Chris the maintenance guy immediately starts chastising us for using the 4th bedroom like we were trying to steal from them. Apparently we were magically supposed to know that we weren't supposed to use that bedroom. In one of the bedrooms a light wouldn't turn off. He told us to just put the kids in there because they are always on their phones anyway. This was never fixed and we wrapped it in a towel. He was very unconcerned about the fact that my older mom slipped on their slick and dark hallways. We finally just had to basically push him out.
• Kesni (6/5): - The apartment was lovely however the management were not accommodating at all. I emailed to arrange a late check in due to a delayed flight more than a week earlier and did not receive a response until I called the reception three days prior, who were then helpful to accommodate us and arrange for this, as well as a late check out seeing as we would only be arriving at 11pm. On the day of arrival, the night staff were very helpful and assisted us to check in at 11pm, after we drove an hour and a half from Cape Town. They took their time to make sure we had everything we needed and were comfortable. The next morning at breakfast, we waited 45 minutes to be served and when I went to reception to confirm a late check out as arranged prior to arrival, I was rudely told that this was not possible as the room needed to be prepared for the next guests, even though the necessary arrangements had been made. We then returned to the room to find the power out, and no electricity present in the prepaid meter, so I called the reception to alert them as we needed to check out in 30 minutes but the issue was rectified 25 minutes later when I walked to reception to query why nobody had attended to the issue. Only then were we given an extra 30 minutes to round up our stuff and check out in time. The apartment was lovely, but the service from the day staff at reception and the management was appalling and very disappointing, which ruined the experience for us in Hermanus unfortunately.
• G2Travel (10/5): Location & Comfort - We will be back! - We will be back to stay at the Whale Coast All-Suite Hotel in Hermanus! The hotel is very centrally located within short walking distance from the Old Harbour, sea and assorted beach front restaurants and coffee shops. The Whale Coast All-Suite Hotel Hermanus is located on top of a shopping center that gives you direct access to a Checkers, Checkers Liquor, Clicks and many more stores to choose from. Secure parking for the hotel is provided in the basement of the building with additional partitioning separating the shopping center parking from the apartment parking, providing more security. Access cards are provided for the free secure parking, basement beams and the apartments. The hotel offers free Wi-Fi, hotel bouquet DSTV and daily room cleaning services. Delicious breakfasts (hot and cold) are also served to clients by very friendly staff every morning with an assortment of juices, tea and coffees to choose from. Apartment 15 is spacious and comfortable with 3 x bedrooms and 2 x bathrooms on the 2nd floor and a wheelchair-friendly 4th room on the bottom floor with its own bathroom. The mattresses, duvets and cushions were all very comfortable. This apartment also gives you a partial sea-view and an outdoor braai with seating area. The kitchen has a gas stove, large fridge and dishwasher and enough cupboards for longer stays. Danielle and Louise are extremely accommodating and helpful and will make you feel right at home. The location, facilities & staff of the Whale Coast All-Suites Hotel makes this a venue we will definitely re-visit soon.

• PhilipD977 (10/5): Amazing staff and lovely apartment - Unfortunately whilst staying at the hotel I had an accident but the staff were amazing even took me to the hospital and helped with the discussion with the doctors. The apartment was so big and spacious. Ok the view over the car park wasn’t the best but beyond it the view was great. So close to bars and restaurants and to the lovely coastal walk.

• Hejags (10/5): Four day stay in the centre of Hermanus - On our tour of the western Cape, we chose to spend 4 nights in Hermanus in this centrally located hotel. Very convenient to all amenities with excellent parking arrangements. Lovely staff, very helpful and especially friendly. Large room was very comfortable and sleep was easy. Excellent breakfast and advice on restaurants. Satisfaction should not have been a surprise - sister establishment to the Kruger Riverside Lodge where we stayed earlier in the holiday. An excellent review for that too Thank you Charl and the whole team

WCH is nice and central and an easy walk through the old harbour area. Really close to great coffee shops and restaurants and very easy access to beautiful seaside trails and tidal pools. Thank you to the team for being so responsive when we had requests. Areas to be looked at to enhance the stay: - breakfasts were less than average, after the first morning we chose to rather eat off property, - soaps amenities etc quality needs improvement, - with load-shedding an ever present challenge the property needs to be further integrated into an off-grid solution. Great that at minimum a light and wifi remains functional when electricity grid goes down. - the admin, check in and office environment needs a new home - the dining room is not the place for these.
• CHIGGJessx (2/5): Wouldn’t come back to this hotel - Apartment was a nice size and looked beautiful on arrival, very clean but very cold. Very limited cooking utensils and trays to cook on. Had to ask three times for cutlery as not enough for us all to eat together. Hot water ran out after one person showered - probably 10 mins, we were told the hot water system here works like a kettle you have wait for it to reboil so leave 30 min between showers - there’s 6 of us!!. Both complaints were made at 930am at 2115 we were offered a change of room!! Breakfast was awful, beef sausage was served raw on telling manager I was told it would be taken off bill 😂 it was a package holiday already paid for. all the breakfasts had to be pre ordered the night before and everyone was served the wrong items and it was cold. We were made to feel very unwelcome at breakfast on arrival, staff were lovely but management didn’t want to know. We booked through independent travel rep who I sent complaints too, they had email confirming everything was now sorted - this was a lie, at this time no one had been to see us. We decided to go out and buy what we needed for the rest of our time at the hotel. Luckily we were only booked in for 3 nights. Also scheduled power cuts were at inconvenient times between 1830 till 2030 but again we were not pre warned and had a slip of paper put through the door after the power had gone out. This hotel is not a luxury it’s a basic apartment where you need to supply your own essentials. Surrounding areas were beautiful and welcoming. Very local to everything to have an enjoyable stay and local shops under the hotel made buying food and essential items easier
• Navigator407813 (8/5): Excellent apartment and location - The hotel is very nice. It’s clear that the apartments are quite new and very well maintained. Unfortunately we only spent there a night and we did not use much of the structure. You have the feeling of being in an extremely safe environment. The only negative point is that upon our arrival, the apartment was extremely cold and difficult to warm up.

• tictactic (6/5): Decent hotel near waterfront - We were a family of 8 including 3 children.. staying at the hotel for 2 nights. The hotel location is perfect and few only meters away from the waterfront. There’s a checkers and click right below the hotel which is very convenient if you need to grab some food or necessities. The only issue we had with the hotel was with the service that we were offered and the way the management handled it. We arrived in the hotel around 6 PM and by the time we settled ourselves and ordered some food, the power went out at 8 PM. I informed Danie (WhatsApp) at the reception about the power cut, who said it’s load shedding and was very casual about. We were not informed about this at check in time nor after that. We had kids with us so it got difficult for us to manage. Apparently the load shedding was daily for 2 hours and we were not informed about it. The following day upon checking with danie again regarding the power cut he said he didn’t know the load shedding time, however one hour before the power cut we were sent a note in the room about the timing of the load shedding, which we had missed seeing. We had two rooms, but the note came to one room only, and it was missed. He could have easily sent a message via WhatsApp as that is how we were communicating since the reception is quite away from the rooms. We were really upset as we didn’t know this would happen again. Overall this experience was not good. Danie was helpless. The following day the manager came to us and offered breakfast, however it was too late and just after 9 AM, we were already done with our breakfast. We were not given any compensation on our stay, however they did say we can stay a night extra for free but obviously we had our onward plan booked. This handling of the situation didn’t go down well with us, but the hotel for stay in the centre of Hermanus is perfect. Just remember there’s no generator and there’s power cut for 2 hours everyday.

We have returned to the whale coast hotel year after year and received the most outstanding service particularly from Patwell at reception. Patwell, will go the extra mile to make sure your stay is comfortable, pleasant and worthwhile! He is highly efficient and always pleasant. The only point to consider is that the apartment was advertised as air conditioned however only x1 bedroom had an air conditioning unit (other bedroom & living area only had a fan). Okay for us when we were there but in hotter weather may be more of an issue.

• Jed (10/5): Great long weekend at the Whale Coast Hotel - Had a lovely stay at the WHC. Staff were all so friendly and helpful. Unit was a big size and very placed in terms of shopping, restaurants etc.. The Breakfast was vey good. We would denfitely stay there again and recommend to friends. The only issues we had were: - fridge in unit 12 makes quite a loud noise - We did not have an umbrella on the verandah which basically made it impossible to sit outside on a warm day - Shower design is very weird - The shower head is very low and then there was a shelf in the ay which made it very difficult to get under the shower - especially for tall people - In the bedroom I think there is a need for a dresser of some sorts - we kept looking for space to put things on beside the 2 bed-side tables. Otherwise a wonderful wonderful stay

• david (8/5): Very good accommodation - It seemed a strange location to have accommodation above a shopping mall but it worked very well indeed. Excellent attentive staff who looked after us very well. Parking was secure and easy. Would have been excellent in all of this review but it was slightly noisy at times as you’d expect but not a real problem. Very comfortable indeed.

• john (10/5): great location - a good sized apartment that gives you a great self catering facility and large clean rooms. the fact it is at the top of a shopping centre is wired at first but then allows for easy access and clear to find. the location is great as out affords an easy walk to the cliff walk and also a number of restaurants. great staff who are willing to help and provide guidance.
• Verified traveler (10/5): Huge apartment in prime location - We stayed in the 1 bedroom apartment and couldn’t have been more impressed! Huge space, very spacious and clean for a great price. All the staff were very warm and welcoming and we were within walking distance to all the main restaurants and attractions. Highly recommended!

• Charlie (8/5): Whale of a time finding Whale Coast Hotel - Great 3 bedroom apartment, IF you can find it! Very confusing because the Parking Lot signs only mention “Mall Parking Only—No overnight parking”. We had to send one of our party upstairs to the hotel, and then a Porter came down to let us into the designated “cage” for hotel parking. There is no mention on the signage for “Whale Coast Hotel”, so plan to go up and ask for the Porter. Once you’re over that stress, the apartment isvery clean, comfortable, and well stocked.
• Craig (8/5): Great apartment - Huge apartments, fully equipped. Slightly odd location above a shopping mall but perfect base for exploring local area.
• jayleyt (8/5): - Surprised to find hotel in a shopping mall, but room had sea view. Very large apartment, comfortable, short walk to beach front.
• kerry (10/5): Very convenient - It was a great location and so very nice and clean. It was comfortable and affordable.
• Lisa (8/5): Nice hotel close to everything - Stayed for 3 nights while visiting the area. Was not able to check in 1 hour early which was a bit inconvenient. The apartment was very spacious, over the 2 stories. The kitchen was fully equipped and the grocery store in the mall attached made it easy to prepare meals. On the negative side, both showers did not drain well. Very convenient location to shopping and the nature walks.
• Verified traveler (8/5): Very decent hotel, but not ideal - Located on the upper floor of a mall a few blocks from the coast. Not a bad location and I suppose convenient if you were to frequent the mall, but the rooms are spread out across the mall's footprint, which is not super convenient if you want to pop in and out. Honestly, the mall is not big by any means, but it also became somewhat of a nuisance if we needed to drop something off. It was quite nice that our base-level room (more like an apartment) had a full kitchen and separate living area and bedroom.
• Frank (10/5): Excellent - We have had a huge apartment with Maisonette arrangement. One bedroom upstairs with two bathrooms and balcony with seaview. A large livingroom, kitchen and a second balcony. Overall it was superb. The location is very good. Restaurants are in walking distance. The whale watching spots can be reached with 15min walk. Restaurant, which was recommended had incredible good food.

• Swapnil Aradkar (10/5): VALUE FOR MONEY!! - The apartment was very nice, well equipped and located close to the waterfront. There is a supermarket, in the same premises as the apartments, which came in very handy. The staff at the reception was very helpful. Also the free shuttle service was a nice touch. Finally all of this combined with good pricing makes it an awesome overall proposition.

• Nicola (8/5): Great Location. - The location was the best part about the hotel. Very central to everything - food and shopping. Don't even need to drive around. The only downside is that it can be a bit noisy because it is in a shopping mall. I had a lovely view of the sea from the room and could even hear the waves if the wind was just right. The staff are extremely friendly even before we arrived at the hotel.

• Verified traveler (10/5): Family stay - Hi, internet/ wi-fi very very slow, basically impossible to work or surf the internet. Overall we were happy with the stay, location is perfect and the apartment was very clean. No other issue or complaint just in regards to the wi-fi.

• Michael (10/5): Visitors from the UK - Really nice apartments in the centre of Hermanus with easy access to all amenities. Overlooks the local supermarket car park which sounds odd but there were no issues. Staff were very frienly and accommodating re early check-in and a late check-out ( only 1 hour which they didn;t charge for despite their literatire saying it would cost R250 ).

• Andy (8/5): Modern and lovely Apart-Hotel - Apartment - Really well fitted out, extremely clean, spread across two floors, two upstairs bedrooms, two bathrooms, lovely balcony, braai (which we didn't use), air con, TV, free parking, very secure. Location - Needs to have better directions as the fact it is above a shopping mall should be made more obvious. Not far to walk to restaurants, the front, etc and close to route-ways in/out of Hermanus. Check in - this was all very easy. Wi-Fi - Another place with codes which only last a certain amount of time. Would be better if unrestricted or to just give out more codes. Would be good to have a phone to contact reception as when needed, it is quite a walk through the shopping centre to get to reception. Also it was annoying to get back to our room to find the key didn't work and then the receptionist also struggled with the electronic device he had. In total we were hanging around for about 20 minutes to try and get in which was pretty frustrating at the end of a night.. Tip - Best to book restaurants as many of the best ones were fully booked.
• MALI (10/5): Convinint and clean hotel. Perfect for families. - Great place. Will come again and recommend it to others.
• Teck Hui (10/5): Convenient and centrall located hotel - The hotel apartment is located above a shopping complex and within walking distance to the town centre where all the activities are. Supermarket below adds to the convenience when one needs groceries for cooking. Apartment was clean and well equipped. Hotel management was always in touch even before we check in and staff were friendly too. Highly recommended.
• Eimear (10/5): Lovely comfortable apartment - We stayed in a really nice two bed apartment. As it was our honeymoon they left us a lovely note with bottle of wine and chocolate. Really comfortable bed with feather duvet. Very helpful staff booked us a table at the pear tree where dinner was excellent.
