- Riccardo (7/5): Not the worst but surely does not worth the price. - The room was wide and bathroom was nice. Hotel position very good, close to the river trail and to many restaurants. Gym was very nice and clean. Breakfast was really poor for the price payd. No fruits, no sweets, poor hot meal choice (bacon available once in 3 days). Room cleaning was done very roughly (still have some little pieces of paper on the ground). Had an issue with the toilet flushing and called the reception twice starting from 6 pm. Came back from dinner at 10 pm and fixed myself.
- Eric (9/5): Still a beautiful facility in an exciting area next to the river. Would definitely recommend…just wish they took more ca - Fantastic, roomy bath; double room was also quite spacious. Breakfast not at the level of the accommodations. How about some sliced fruit? How about something with whole grains? How about some plain yogurt (instead of the oversweetened vanilla kind) to have with the sliced fruit?
- Baldur (7/5): -
- Andrea (9/5): - Sehr ruhig, alles sauber. Sehr wenige Fernsehsender. Plastik Besteck am Frühstücksbuffet
- Karlo (9/5): Nice staff and location was great. - Great location for getting around Pittsburgh. Breakfast was disappointing.
- Malissa (1/5): - It was very clean. I paid through booking.com and when I checked in I had to pay the full amount. I never received a refund from booking.com or the hotel.
- Shameeka (9/5): My stay was awesome!! - The property was clean and staff were very friendly. I didn’t like the fact that key holder for the lights is right beside the door.
- Tiffany (10/5): - Staff was very friendly. Location was perfect for a visit with family that lives in the south side flats neighborhood.
- Coles (10/5): -
- Donna (10/5): - The breakfast was the best I've ever had at a hotel and the whole staff was amazing and friendly. The pool could have been warmer.

- Karaoke Underground (10/5): The stay was great, we will be back. - It was great, we got a little bit pricier of a room the view was great. I think that was my favorite part but I also really liked how clean everything was and how friendly the staff was. Our room was right above the pool so if there’s a bunch of kids splashing around and hollering you could hear it but honestly that’s just minor it didn’t bother us enough to want a room change or anything like that. The food menu from the bar was pretty limited.
- koolkat808 (6/5): Nice Rooms, Breakfast Needs Improvement - We enjoyed a decent stay at the Hyatt House Pittsburgh South Side. Our stay was a bit better than expected from a typical Hyatt House property.
We appreciated the upgrade to a river view king room. The view was scenic and peaceful, and I would recommend booking this category, as it does make a difference.
There are not many true Globalist benefits at a Hyatt House property, aside from possible room upgrades and late checkout when available. The complimentary breakfast is the same that all guests receive.
The room itself was basic but spacious, in very good condition and clean. Bed and pillows were just okay, but shower pressure was surprisingly good. I would describe the room as clean, comfortable and convenient.
We don't use kitchenettes, but for those who do, there was a nice one, and it seemed to be well stocked.
The thing that brought my review down by a star was the breakfast. It was of poor quality, and there were barely any gluten free options. Also, the single staff member who was managing the buffet was slow moving and had an attitude. She looked sloppy and did not present well. This staff member was wearing stained sweats, had disheveled hair and looked like she had just rolled out of bed.
Many items on the buffet were out and the staff member was inefficient at restocking. I asked her if there was any gluten free bread, and she went to the back, then reappeared and advised that all of the breads (there were several types) were gluten free. She was clearly guessing. I informed her that unless the label specifically stated "gluten free," bread generally contains gluten. She shrugged in an uncaring manner.
We chose not to partake in the complimentary hotel breakfast for our remaining two mornings.
This property is conveniently located near restaurants and shops and is in a very picturesque, walkable part of town. The walk along the river is especially pleasant.
I recommend this place for a convenient and moderately priced stay, but if you enjoy good breakfasts, best to dine out or prepare your own.
- kaiwaip (2/5): Globalist - stay away - This review is strictly for globalist that may consider this property. They treat you like a third party booking even if you book directly. We got the lowest tier of room despite full availability. It’s obvious because even during breakfast hours it was very empty. Highly suggest to stay away from this hotel if you are globalist. Even if you want to book it, just use third party and at least earn better points or cashback, because they don’t care about WOH program. If you are globalists you know know what I’m talking about, we go out of our way often to stay within the brand even if it’s more expensive than say a marriot or Hilton. While the Hyatt T&C doesn’t guarantee any suite (which I don’t expect) they should at least give you something above than the most basic room. Instead they gave us absolute lowest tier of room. Low floor, not facing river when 50% of their rooms face river. Breakfast and water are always included at Hyatt place/house yet they try to say that’s your benefit and it’s an insult. The worst part is they try to tack on random fees to my bill in email after I checked out. When I called and asked (I wasn’t rude) the front desk was rude. The gentleman kept answering with “ok, anything else?” Instead of “sorry about that, let me look into it for you”. Yea I get that this isn’t a Park Hyatt but I’ve never been treated worse at any Hyatt, and I’ve stayed at Hyatt from $80 to $800 a night.
Again, hotel itself is perfectly fine, very new modern and clean. The breakfast staff were also excellent. One lady came around with a bowl of bacon and offered to us. If it wasn’t for poor operations/front desk, it would have been a great experience and an easy 5 star.

- Suzanne (10/5): Great location on Southside and lovely walk along the river to downtown. - The studio rooms are very spacious. The staff are helpful and friendly.
- Ashley (10/5): -
- Shatika (9/5): -
- Mark (10/5): - Friendly staff. Nice selection of food. One day the pancakes were really greasy. But then they made them better.
- TENAE (8/5): Overall I really enjoyed my stay. - The breakfast sausage as really good, had peppers and onions. The cooks were nice. The parking was bad and I hate that it’s not included in your stay. Also 1 of the elevators were down which made getting back and forth to our room a very long process. Lastly, we had some stains on our sheets, but there was no housekeeper to change them so e had to do it ourselves.
- hannah (10/5): -
- Jet217437 (10/5): Nice stay - This hotel was clean, staff was helpful and efficient. The extra space was nice and the small kitchen area was also great. We were also within easy walking distance to some cute shops and most importantly a great little coffee shop!
- twilitetmo (4/5): Hyatt Place Hotel Water St South Side Flats Pittsburgh - It was unacceptable. There was a daily effort by staff to
Sabotage Housekeeping Service....they left no coffee had to be coached how.to housekeeping the room.
- Jenny (8/5): - Very nice room and nice river view. Staff not super friendly
- J1463JEgailc (10/5): Love Pittsburgh - very nice, would stay there again. Perfect place to stay if you have a pet.
- M7530ILlaurenm (8/5): Good stay, expensive parking - Location was great for walking to a few fun places. Parking at the hotel was $30 per night when we went, so we parked across the way at the Ingot garage for half the price. The king bed was two twins pushed together which weren’t comfortable come morning. Tip: there was a coupon at the desk for a free game of duck pin bowling across the street which we didn’t see until the next day. Don’t miss grabbing that for a fun activity!
- Susan (9/5): We only stayed one night but we had a great time. - Bed was comfortable, room was quiet. The location is perfect. Lighter traffic and easy to get to. Honestly, I can't think of anything.
- allisons783 (4/5): Nice location, dirty room, poor check-in process - Great location with beautiful river views and plenty of food options nearby. We felt safe walking everywhere.
Unfortunately, check-in was frustrating. I had completed it in the app, but the front desk wouldn’t finalize it because the reservation was in my husband’s name, even though he was right outside parking and came in immediately after. I’ve stayed at many Hyatts and have never had this issue before.
The room layout was nice, but cleanliness and details were disappointing: sticky kitchen floors, a dusty vent, glasses with condensation still on them, only one roll of toilet paper (we had to request more), no laundry bag in the closet, watered-down shower gel, and the room smelled like marijuana.
On a positive note, the breakfast area was clean and offered a decent selection.

- Vershaun (10/5): I will be a repeat customer to this exact location in the future - Big but quaint. I can’t fully describe what I mean, but it was the parking garage. I don’t think is a Hyatt house issue so much as a Pittsburgh way of life. I reside in a place that’s full of space and trees.
- Timothy (10/5): -
- Jennifer (8/5): What a great place to stay. - Wonderful welcome from John. He was super friendly and helpful and made me feel at home right away. Gave me some great ideas for places to see in the city. The room was incredible with a view of the river, very exciting for a first-time visitor to Pittsburgh! Access to the river trail right there was above and beyond. The hotel location made it very easy to come and go even in so much snow. It would be nice if there were amenities in the room like snacks and drinks even if for purchase, and more amenities in the bathrooms.
- Nicholas (8/5): -
- Natasha (10/5): -
- Constance (9/5): Had a very nice stay - Location Had wings at the bar & they were cold inside
- Karen (10/5): My stay was comfortable and relaxing - The staff was friendly, professional and informative. The property was clean and well maintained
- Tammy (8/5): Overall the stay was good but there are a lot of other options at or below this price point - Location of hotel. Gym and bar were very nice. One elevator was out of order during our stay. This was most inconvenient. We were not able to park in the hotel parking we had to park across the street. Again, this was inconvenient.
- Joyce (10/5): Great! - The front desk was very professional and courteous. Stayed there for the Steelers game
- Alfreda (7/5): - Breakfast was good, thanksgiving day I have up waiting for the kitchen to and went to mcDonalds. the price doesn’t meet the expectation of the rooms
- Attila (10/5): Great hotel. Very comfortable bed and spacious room - The room was very spacious and the bed was super comfortable. Very clean room. Very friendly and accommodating staff. Close to great restaurant and shopping options N/A
- Diana (10/5): It is comfortable, convenient and very pleasant stay at Hyatt Pittsburgh South Side. - Location, Room Space, Refrigerator, Kitchen utensils, etc. Breakfast is not to my expectation.
- Joseph (10/5): -
- Tessa (8/5): -
- Ethan (8/5): -
- Hans (7/5): -
- Kari (10/5): -
- Harris (9/5): - Excellent breakfast, staff went out of their way to be helpful.
- 401zvic (10/5): Very comfortable home away from home (and the dogs agree, too) - We often stay at this hotel during family visits to Pgh, so we can get a better night's sleep away from noisy family members. Very comfortable and nice. Also very dog friendly; there's a lovely doggie-playground just across the street.
- Kosiarek (9/5): - Large, well furnished room. Heated pool No hot tub!
- Max (9/5): -
- 741staceyg (6/5): Friendly Staff, Not Clean - I spent 3 nights at Hyatt House to meet up with friends in Pittsburgh. The staff at the hotel are very nice, and have good restaurant recommendations. However, much of the hotel did not feel clean. Housekeeping did not come during my stay (even after asking the front desk for my room to be serviced). By the last day, the garbage cans were overflowing, there was a giant mound of used towels on the floor, and a feeling grimy. I only had breakfast one of the mornings, but it was not readily restocked, and tables not clean. I reached out to a hotel manager and Hyatt, and no one has gotten back to me. Would not stay here again.
- Richard (6/5): - Location Mold in bathroom shower, pillows and limited bedding

- Torez (9/5): -
- Richard (8/5): - The personnel, where friendly and accommodating The breakfast was mediocre
- Andrea (10/5): It was in a good neighborhood and very quiet for as busy as the Southside is. I would definitely recommend this hotel. - It was very neat and pretty! There wasn’t anything I saw I didn’t like.
- Zachary (8/5): Excellent - Clean
- KirtK632 (10/5): Nice place to stay while in Pittsburgh - Nice hotel. Very clean and comfortable. Large room. Lots of areas to sit in the first floor and see the river and surrounding area. Breakfast a little better than the basic. Staff was friendly and helpful. Parking is an extra $30 a day. Location is by the river , which offers nice views.
- ShaQuanna (10/5): -
- Beth (10/5): Super clean, comfortable, great breakfast and a great value! - Close to downtown and Oakland NA
- Brad (10/5): I was greeted by super friendly staff who were very helpful through my time there and I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. - Great location and staff. Also, the tools were clean and spacious! Cigarettes in the stairway
- jimbo_baggins2 (10/5): Great hotel in a very fun area - This place really exceeded expectations, and I loved the location. I was passing through on a road-trip/visiting friends with my wife. Was also traveling with our dog. $75 pet fee as expected, which is a little above the median, but understandable. The location is great for dogs, with a dog partk across the street, and the path on the river for longer on-lease walks. Oh, and the Barcade across the street is pet-friendly as well.
The South Side Works is back and bustling! And Hyatt House has a prime location. The facility was really great - great room with a wonderful view of the river and Cathedral. Nice TV swivel mount so that you can relax and watch TV from the couch or bed. Nice kitchenette. Coffee in the lobby. Welcoming staff. This will be on my short list of places to consider for my next Pittsburgh stop.
- S2553VMangelas (10/5): Great Hotel - Hyatt house Southside is a great hotel in a fun location. Rooms are very spacious and comfortable and it's very affordable.
- Josh (6/5): -
- Therese (8/5): Breakfast great cocoa bar and free wrapping station for Christmas a great idea - It’s location was very good walking distance to several restaurants This is my second stay there and I was disappointed with the view of the alley
Biggest complaint the housekeeper cleaning room next door was laying on couch on her phone instead of cleaning. Breaks should not be in room within viewing of guests
- Ashley (10/5): -
- Gabriele (9/5): Un ottima soluzione in una posizione comoda e conveniente - La stanza, spaziosa con tutte le dotazioni utili ad un soggiorno con la possibilità di cucinare . Nulla da segnalare
- Capieaux (8/5): -
- Anne (7/5): Great location, close to city attractions! - The best part about this hotel is the location. You are close to many stores, restaurants and attractions and close to the heart of the city. Our view of the river was awesome and we were able to see coal barges go by. The hotel is also near walking/running trails on the river. The overall design of the room was very stark and sterile. While this is a current design trend, I think Hyatt has taken it too far. There is no where to park outside of the hotel to check in, so we had to pull into the garage to even park. The elevator to get to the check in was broken, so we had to lug our bags up two flights of stairs to the check-in desk. Anyone with a disability would have had an issue. Elevator was broken the entire time we were there. More onsite parking needs to be added for busy weekends, as the garage filled up on Friday night. There was a hot breakfast with some healthy options.
- Danish (9/5): For a 3 star this hotel was very great - I like the breakfast I like the facilities like the gym and the pool. The french doors to the bathroom. I would have preferred a solid Door. Always felt somebody was peeking through the door watching me take a shit.
- De (9/5): Beautiful stay on the river! - We had a beautiful room, great sea view and breakfast buffet was fantastic! The staff was also very kind! I would definitely stay here again. The WI-FI was only free for one day. The lower elevator was out for three days. I was concerned for my elderly parents but they did okay.
- Justdoingittoday (10/5): Hyatt is wonderful - Great location, 24 hour fitness, full breakfast. Would have been nice to have fresh coffee available in the lobby at 3 AM.
