• Yuming (10/5): - it is walking distance to major subway line 2 which runs from hongqiao airport through city center to Pudong airport. you can basically take subway to go to all major spots in the city. plenty of dining options and western bars nearby. a ALDI grocery around the corner, starbucks coffee.

• Jeffrey (8/5): - The lo location is reasonably good, but is about 20 min walk from the metro stop. The unit it self was great on the 27th floor great views and nice layout. The furnishing is poor, no desk work station in the living room. (I moved the deck from the bed room to the living room to have a work station) The Kitchen had very little. The place needed a good deep cleaning, everywhere. The unit has lots of potential to be really great with a bit of a tune up of the furniture and such and with some deep cleaning. The direction to find the place are not very good as it is in the back of a beauty medical building. They rent a number of units and I had the deluxe one which was a full one bed place. I got the WeChat of the host or not sure how one checks in and gets the keys. Suggest to ask for the WeChat before going that. Overall was great play to stay but with just a bit of effort it could be a lot better.

• Richard (4/5): Ordinary Hotel at best - It was very difficult to book into this hotel late at night. The reception is a hotel room on the 11th floor. Local Taxi could not find the entrance which was off the main road. Room was not very clean and hardly cleaned during my 6 night stay. There are no facilities to speak of and it is definitely not recommended for non-Chinese speakers who would struggle withe the reception staff - once you've been able to find them. Much better options available that are better located than this hotel.
• Arie (4/5): Not a hotel , apartment with no language skills - This place I found it because of location, but please be careful this is not a hotel, and not all apartments in the building are rented as per day basis. When I got there the doorman did not speak English, using translator app he told me this was the wrong address, call my local friend after insisting and showing photos from hotels.com my friend got telephone called the local number, and in Chinese requested to be escorted to apartment witch when I told her about the problem I had she only said non English, after translating that it is problem that we lost some much time to get in, she just made gesture as not my problem. The registration area is a dirty apartment on 10th floor. where girl that attended us lives. The room looked clean but beed cover was stained inside . hallway old carpet, place needs updating. bottom line this should not be listed in Hotels.com because the risk getting in. Is is more for local listing at half the cost. When I left new doorman was nice knew English and even called me a taxi, I really hope they had him on my way in.

• Verified traveler (8/5): Good hotel in downtown Shanghai - This is an overall good hotel in downtown Shanghai, close to the temple and to the metro. It's a good three-star hotel--you can easily access the metro for visiting the city, shopping, and entertainment. The rooms are clean and both the apartments and the double bed rooms have a small living room, as well as a kitchenette and a laundry machine. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to spend a few days in the heart of the city, on a smaller budget (the apartment is around $130.00 per night).

• AJ (2/5): Smoked in Room with mosquitoes and weak AC - We had the worst experience in Shanghai. We went to the hotel not expecting a lot. But from the lobby to the room felt damp and smoke smell was all over. The room was unbearable. It was hot as we walked in.. the room was recently smoked in and there were mosquitoes in the room. We immediately walked out. The hotel staff does not speak English either. Don't stay here.
• Verified traveler (6/5): Functional and cheap - Second stay in the apartment block. At check-in - the door to 'reception' was shut. Waited 20 minutes for someone to arrive. Room was functional but in dire need of re-decoration - wallpaper held on with transparent tape, seals coming off the bath; all sorts of odd marks all over the ceiling; non-working remote controls. Bed was comfortable enough, but pillows were flat. Had the misfortune to live underneath a couple who were fond of a) wearing cement as shoes, and b) a penchant for re-arrangement of furniture every night, starting just after midnight. It was hard to get sleep, and the same people were up at 7am apparently doing the same thing.

• Verified traveler (6/5): - The location of the apartment was great, close to shops and about 15-20mins walk to the Nanjing Road West subway station. However, it took me some time to find the entrance to the building as it was not visible from the front. There was no mention that I had to call the apartment's office number on arrival so I had to ask around. It would be great if this was stated somewhere in the Check In sections. The room itself was clean and spacious. The building is quite secure, with security guards standing at both entrances to the building. To operate the lifts, you must use their "lift card".
• Ann (8/5): Nice apartment with a few issues - A few issues- with the apartment and 1 with the website. First it was described as having a balcony, which it did not. It had a raised area near to window, a platform, but no balcony, which was one of the things that made me choose it. Second, we had no information about wifi, and had to work it out ourselves that password had reverted to the default one. We texted the owner and got no response. Also, please include Chinese address on booking confirmation, as we had real problems explaining to taxi driver where we wanted to go. Location- quite a walk from metro.
• Rolland ch fong (2/5): Not worth the price. - Don't belive all the positive reviews. Place is so run down, smell of musk, towels were old & worn, TV kept breaking down, table lamps doesn't work. Can't changed room. Asked to repair safe box, but stayed there for 5 nights, no one bothers. Worst of all, doesn't even provide bottled water! First and last time staying there. Even Han Ting is better.
• Terry (8/5): Workacation Accommodation - An excellent service apartment to stay in overall. First night might take a little use to the area, but it is a safe area overall and walking distance to the nearest shopping strip just south of it. Food are within 5 mins walks and a 24hr convenience store is just across the street. Highly secure area, as they have a 24/7 security posted along with lift card access required to enter the individual apartment levels. Great support from the administrator staff too. Was stranded in Beijing due to typhoon so was unable to check in till 1am. Administrator stayed in late to assist in checking me in (kindly note, this is a service apartment not a hotel so normally administrator or concierge service is not part of the package) A name card was given too to reach the staff if you have any issues along with hotel details. Amenities are equipped, Apartment staff will come once every two days to change your beddings and towels along with doing some minor cleaning. Free Wifi too with reasonable speed not slow. Only issue i had was perhaps trying to communicate with the staff on the phone, staff are able to communicate only in basic english. Would be great if staff are able to converse well in english too. Subway are some distance from the hotel, so if you plan to travel around using the subway prepare to wake up early to walk to subway.
• Shane (10/5): Great apartment! - I really liked this room - it was large, with a great window overlooking the city, a nice kitchen with a washing machine/dryer, and a nice bathroom with both a bath tub and a separate shower. This was one of the better rooms I stayed in during my 2 months of travel.

However, there is no front desk, you have to call someone to come if you're checking in or need something outside of business hours. We had no other needs, so it worked well for us.

• Verified traveler (10/5): 100 times Better than a hotel - Hmmm well my stay was great ,I really enjoyed the peace and comfort the pictures on the site don't do justice for the place, I must say the apartment was very nice clean comfortable plenty of space and yes it was great to be able to cook , and shopping in the area was very convenient , they have all the name brand shops just a few blocks away and Walmart which that will be something to see that is about 2miles or so away. transportation is not far , as I got around by taxi for some distance area but for the most part i walk to many places , malls are about 6 blocks away , I had dinner with friends at one , the security at this location is a plus, the elevator alone was interesting , you can not go anywhere unless you have a key to go up. so no surprise visit! anyone visit must be announced , they even have washer and dryer all in one unit, what I mean is the washing machine is a dryer, so you wash your clothes then dry them in the same machine, now the drawback is they clean the room every two days and change sheets once a week , so I just wash my own sheets and towels if need to you can call and request for clean towels or better yet request extras. but all in all it was a great place and lovely location and yes i will stay again with out a doubt.

• Verified traveler (8/5): Practical and convenient serviced apartment - Location is very convenient, about 5mins from the centre of the Jianing and Puxi districts. Plenty of convenience stores and cafe's in the vicinity. Easy to get a taxi from, and subway is probably a 15min walk.
• sz (6/5): Nice room but so cold. - The room has good facility. Also, great location. But there was dust on many places e.g, the nightstand and inside the cabinet. Also, the room was so cold, freezing. There is no telephone in the room. You have to own a cell phone otherwise it's not convenient. The housekeeping service is done every other day not every day. It's ok to stay there, but it's overpriced with what's offered.

The area is central, within walking distance from Nanjing Lu, Metro station (line 2) and so on. As a plus, it was also v quiet.
• Simon (10/5): Shanghai ZiYuan Service Apartment, August 1, 2014 - Very convenient with a kitchenette, big refrigerator and laundry machine. Everything clean and good customer service. A little difficult to find the entrance because it does not face the street, but the street and building number are correct (356 Jiangning Road, No. 5), so you can ask someone when you are close or call them if necessary. Would book it again.
• Verified traveler (6/5): good for shopping, food,banks. subway is far walk - Overall very good. nothing too special, but comfortable. there are lots of food places nearby and shopping is easy. service was somewhat hands off, but was perfect for our situation because we travel as a family, and don't need much service. subway is a bit far (15 minutes walk), taxi is not so easy to get. Otherwise, we have no complains.
• als (8/5): Pretty good. - Block in a good location, easy to get a taxi, opposite a convenience store and above a cafe and Starbucks (for breakfast). Check in was OK and room was in a fair condition, although clean smelt slightly of cigarette smoke and was a little scuffed around the edges. However, it was very quiet and fine as a place to sleep after days of sightseeing in Shanghai.

• Maya (10/5): Great Stay - the service apartment was a great choice for my week stay in Shanghai (April 2014) - walking distance to the '2 line' Metro, free wifi and close to the shopping district. Apartment looks just like the pictures - very clean and has a washing machine. If you are an independent traveler this is the place for you.

• Chris (10/5): Hidden Gem - If you want a few days and not pay big prices this is for you. Hidden away, quiet but easy for any cab driver. Only rated a 3 on service because these are apartments so no minibars, restaurants etc. not needed anyway. Minimarts all around, plenty of eateries etc. Room is fantastic. Comfy beds, kitchen if required. Great electrics - TV, sat tv, dvd etc. no real western channels is only down side. Great value in my opinion as why pay around double for the same comfort?? I arrived late in the evening but was not a problem with the girl at reception. don't even ask for room deposit. Just tell them approx. time your leaving and leave the key in the room. All in all great place
• Sara (10/5): Excellent place for families - We were worried about finding a comfortable place for our family of five to stay overnight in Shanghai but this place fit the bill perfectly! We stayed in a full two bedroom, two bathroom apartment with a gorgeous view on the 25th floor. Tons of space and everything was top notch. Will definitely stay again!
• Verified traveler (8/5): Convenient serviced apartment - Great location, 10 mins walk to Nan Jing West Road. Apartment ranges from studio to 2 bedrooms, all nicely maintained. Wifi speed is pretty fast for China. Housekeeping is done every other day. Towels are paper thin, but everything else is pretty good.

• Lucy (6/5): Need to improve the service - The worst was arrived with no front desk service. We were lost when the lady sit by the desk said that we have to call someone to get check-in. Finally she agreed to make a phone call so after waiting for 10 minutes a lady came bring us to the room. The location was very good. The Internet was free and the speed was the best we have experienced.
• John/Alex (10/5): We loved it - The service of the hotel was overall very good. We had clean towels and a serviced room daily. It was a quiet hotel, the neighborhood was safe and the room was exactly as described on the website. Bed was very comfortable. The location of the hotel was convenient and close to everything. There was a mini market down the road where you could find all you needed. We didn't really cook anything during our stay - as the food is China is very cheap and affordable. We would totally recommend it and it would be a welcome choice for our next visit in Shanghai.
• Verified traveler (6/5): Good location, but has service + cleanliness flaws - There were times we called for additional amenities, such as toothpaste. After being told some would be delivered to the room, no one ever came. There were also strange stains on the couch. The location is good although the main entrance is very hard to find as there is no signboard. The overall upkeep of the hotel is good. Although this hotel has good value, so do many other hotels in Shanghai downtown.
