Guest Reviews

- Fernando (8/5): -
- luciana (10/5): Confortável - Tudo Ducha do banho
Nada a reclamar
- Marques (10/5): -
- Renato (5/5): -

- OSCAR (6/5): Good staff and hotel - Excellent and exceptionally kind staff, a wonderful atmosphere, and a perfect location. Although the hotel has a restaurant, it does not serve dinner, and on the day of my stay all the restaurants in the village were closed. It would have been best if such information had been provided in advance. As dinner was something I was very much looking forward to, I ended up having to travel quite far to find a place to eat, resulting in an unexpectedly expensive meal due to the round-trip taxi fare.
- Manuel (10/5): -
- Filipa (10/5): -
- Denise Guest (9/5): -
- RUI (8/5): -

- Carlozzi (10/5): Exceptional - Very clean; nice breakfast N/A
- Gil (8/5): Very good -
- Tracey (10/5): Beautiful property in a quaint village - Really excellent hotel in a beautiful village. The amenities were really nice and the breakfast had a nice selection. The gentleman who checked us in was very helpful and kind to our group. The other staff, including the breakfast ladies, were also very nice. The bed could have been more comfortable, but other than that, no complaints at all.
- Katherine (10/5): - Great stay!
- Fernando (7/5): Good -
- Renata (10/5): Exceptional - Gorgeous old mountain town and the hotel is right in the center.
Very friendly staff.
Very good breakfast with local cheeses and jams.
- Stephanie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Arto (9/5): Superb - We visited during the very off-season and there weren't many, if any, other guests. Hotel staff is excellent and very welcoming and helpful. Breakfast was very plentiful and tasty.
- Prath (10/5): amazing experience - This is one of the most beautiful places we ever stayed in, a true masterpiece of renovation. The rooms, the public areas and the gardens are amazing. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
- Olwyn (8/5): Very good -
- Jeroen (10/5): Exceptional - The staff, the location, the pool. We did really relax here.
- Gary (9/5): Superb -
- George (10/5): Exceptional - I really like this place. Unpretentious, good value, caring, authentic staff. Lovely grounds. I like the Chesterfields in the lounge.
- Winfried (10/5): - very nice hotel in a quiet village.
The surrounding of the hotel is also attractive.
To explore the old village is also interesting - and you will find a restaurant at the end . , as the hotel soes not offer dinner. But that's not a disadvantage.
I can really recommend this hotel.
- Bjarke (5/5): Adequate stay but AC should really work. Better pillows. - Location was very central. There was an amazing g restaurant close by. AC was not working. Bedlinen and pillows were not a good quality. Had to walk extremely far to reach purr rooms.
- Monica (9/5): It has breakfast only which is good. We dined at a local restaurant which has a vast wine collection. We had duck and Bo - Beautiful hotel and nice grounds and property.
- Ülle (10/5): Exceptional -
- Simone (8/5): Nice comfortable hotel with an excellent quality/price ratio - The bedroom was big, comfortable, it had a nice view and was clean. The staff at the reception were excellent! Breakfast choice was very good. I had little time to go back to my room (it was at the end of the building), so I asked a waitress with short white hair, at breakfast if I could borrow a tea spoon for 1 day, so I could bring it to the the trekking. I was shocked by her loud and aggressive answer: “If you steal this tea spoon, and do not bring it back, you will go to prison!”
I did not immediately reply as it was nearly 9 AM and the guide and the group were ready to go. I did not have 5 minutes to spare. But, I consider this reply extremely discriminatory (I am German/Brazilian), and I felt utterly insulted. I have never ever expected such an answer from a hotel staff.
- Dickie (7/5): Inatel Inadequate - The staff are friendly and outgoing...Location is optimal for exploring the village. The property is in need of a makeover...My room leaked water from a storm on the carpets and around the french doors to the outside. Need new beds and update the furniture in the rooms. Need to update the wifi with mess routers. Property could be much better with some investment.
- Tamzin (9/5): Superb -
- Lucy (8/5): Very good overall and friendly helpful staff - Could have real filter coffee for breakfast instead of machine like warm black water
- Simon (8/5): One night stay - wished we could have stayed longer - Breakfast was well above average for hotels in Portugal. The location and aspect was one of the best features. I am sorry we could not stay longer. Given the quality, I though the value was quite good. At first we had difficulty getting to the swimming pool, as, even though it was near our rooms, all the nearest doors were locked and we had to go almost back to reception to access it.
- Dimitri (8/5): Very good -
- Cowen (8/5): Very good -
- Phil (9/5): Superb - The originality of the two older buildings. There was a good choice of breakfast. The location was peaceful, and there were a couple of restaurants nearby for dinner.
The room was furnished beautifully and really clean. The long walk between both buildings, including taking 2 lifts the walk along the linking corridor from reception to room, was 4.5 minutes.
Although the room was serviced daily, the water wasn't replenished.
- Antonio (10/5): Exceptional -
- Verified traveler (8/5): Bom descanso - Agradável para descansar.
- John (7/5): A lovely hotel, in a beautiful setting. We had a fantastic break. - The hotel consists of two former houses, connected by a corridor. The architect made a superb job the conversion, blending the old and the new. The grounds were lovely, and well maintained. The swimming pool area was great for relaxing.
Juliana was particularly pleasant and informative, when serving us drinks and snacks, in the bar/lounge area. A good choice of breakfast food, but not that fresh. The scrambled egg and mini sausages were tasty, but got cold almost as soon as it was brought from the kitchen. I didn't like the coffee from the machine.
Initially, it was hard to find the rooms and swimming pool, as there were no signs.
- Claire (10/5): Beariful hotel in quaint village - The grounds of the hotel were nice and the village, although remote was beautiful and quaint. The room had direct access to the garden and was spotless. The check-in of not before 4pm was quite late.
- Joachim (9/5): A very nice place for a relaxing weekend far away from the city strife. - The location in the center of a charming old village with great views on the surrounding mountains and the plain below. The architecture of the building ( an old mansion). Clean and comfortable rooms with A/C. Swimming pool and tennis court on the premises. The orange juice at the breakfast was almost tasteless. Should be replaced by a higher quality juice. Room was not well isolated. One could hear the neighbours at night.
- M (8/5): Very good - The location is great, the rooms were comfortable and large in size. The hotel was short in staff, so we had to wait long everytime we needed something from the staff. The pool was not working. The rooms were far from the hotel entrance, which is not convenient.
- Claudia (10/5): Unwind in a renovated palace with gardens overlooking the mountains - This rural hotel looks like it has recently been totally renovated, so it adds an old palace charm to high standard modern amenities, like a design passage way between the main building/reception area and the building where the rooms are. The gardens are beautiful and very well kept - there is a rose garden, a hortensia's garden, a wall-garden and the gardens around the open air swimming pool. There is also a tennis court by the swimming pool, all very nicely done. The situation is very peaceful and quiet, overlooking the mountains and farms. The rooms are very spacious and some of them have a nice terrace with access to the gardens. The breakfast was really good, all with freshly made products from the region - cheese, ham, marmelade - and home made bread. We stayed happily for two nights and could have stayed longer to unwind! Bonus: the Mondego river walkways are a half hour drive away, a nice walking trail of 16kms. The hotel doesn't offer a restaurant, only a bar with some simple snacks/sandwiches. There is a fairly good restaurant in the village, within walking distance though. The location is very remote and hard to get to - only by car - and there is not much to do, so make sure what you want is peace and quiet!
- Luis (8/5): Very good -
- João (10/5): Exceptional - The staff are delightful and the location is stunning I wish i could have stayed longer!
- Simon (9/5): Tranquil and peaceful hotel with lovely views over the surrounding hills. - Though hard to find and in the middle of nowhere the hotel is situated in a lovely quiet hamlet called Linhares high up on top of a hill. The peace and tranquility are tangible, especially at night when walking through the narrow streets past the old little houses and around the castle. We also heard numerous cuckoo singing who quite clearly like living in the area away from human beings ! (who can blame them !). There is only one restaurant in the hamlet which apparently is very good but we didn't try it in the end - we opted to drive back down the hill to get food. There is a lovely swimming pool and tennis courts at the hotel and the views from the rooms are superb. Breakfast was excellent with both hot and cold choices as well as numerous local cakes along with fresh fruits. The views from the breakfast room were also magnificent. Parking is available outside the hotel in the central square where the local wild cats will sit and relax underneath your car whilst you unload. Staff were very helpful. Getting to other food outlets/restaurants requires a fairly long car journey back down the hill and beyond !.
- Dina (9/5): lovely visit - love the village! staff was wonderful
- Peggy (8/5): we had a great stay. the village is idyllic, the hotel is beautiful, the staff were wonderful. - location, beautifully decorated, views the wifi was spotty in our room. the router was right outside the door but the thickness of the walls cut the connection. this would be a problem if you had to work.
- Fatima (10/5): Beautiful and quaint -
- Viktoriia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dina (9/5): Superb -
- Rui (6/5): Pleasant -
