• Lotta (8/5): Basic accommondation in the heart of Dar - New Avon Apartments provided us a good accommondation for our 2-day-stay in Dar. The location is ideal; good food, the zanzibar ferry, bus stations and the city center all in walking distance. The apartment itself is fairly simple but it has all basic necessities (big bed, bathroom, small kithenette and nice views to watch the hassle of the city). The check-in and check-out times were flexible.
• Verified traveler (10/5): Erste Unterkunft in Tansania - Kostengünstige Unterkunft zum Selbstversorgen. Das muslimische Viertel ist sehr sicher, alle achten darauf, dass einem nichts passiert. Der Hotelmanager ist nett und es war gut so in Tansania anzukommen.

• andrea (8/5): Nice Hotel - Overall, the hotel was nice. We were o lay there for one day so it wasn't that big of a deal. The room was way too small to be a triple. The hotel staff also never mentioned that you have to turn on a switch to get hot water. The phone didn't work so we had to go down to ask. They also only had two sets of towels for three people so we had to get more. Breakfast was included, but the food was tasteless. It's very close to the port which is good for the ferry to Zanzibar. The wifi worked well.

• Prem (8/5): Good value hotel with very friendly staff - New Avon is conveniently located downtown within walking distance of restaurants and shops, Zanzibar ferry etc. Its not the high end international luxury style hotel, but is priced accordingly. Comfortable, clean, internet is free and works in room, breakfast is decent, staff are very friendly. I would recommend to travelers to dar es salaam that are looking for the middle ground between budget and luxury accommodation.

• Metro.Nom (8/5): Angenehm überrascht ! - Ich habe das Hotel nur für einen Aufenthalt von sechs Stunden genutzt um etwas zu schlafen, daher kann ich zur Umgebung nicht viel sagen. Taxi Kosten vom Flughafen aus 15 EUR. Personal sehr nett und freundlich. Ich hatte von keinem das Gefühl abgezockt werden zu wollen. Übrigens auch nicht vom Taxifahrer. Im Großen und ganzen alles recht sauber und gepflegt, man darf nicht vergessen, dass man sich in Westafrika befindet und nicht in Dubai oder Qatar ! Zimmerausstatung siehe Bilder ! Alles war sauber und für eine Nacht, würd eich hier jederzeit wieder buchen.

Zimmer und Dusche waren sauber (für Afrika) aber leider war das Restaurant am Abend wegen einer Grundreinigung geschlossen. Wir haben was bestellt und es kam 2 Std. später. Trotzdem ist das Personal hilfsbereit. Tipp: Zimmer in einer der oberen Etagen reservieren lassen (wir waren in der neunten von zehn Etagen)

• A.J. (4/5): Should be rated as 3 star at best, or maybe 2 star - Rooms are very small and don't look anything as nice as the pictures. We had broken items in the bathroom and no Toilet paper. Had to ask for more. Linens were not very good quality and beds very hard. Breakfast was average at best with a very limited selection of fruits, breads and cereals. They only had instant coffee. Staff at the front were friendly but not the breakfast waiters.
• Marianne (8/5): Fairly new hotel in town. - The hotel was in good condition and clean. Breakfast was not as good as most hotels in this price range, but ok. Food pretty good. Rooms clean and great showers! The staff was friendly and helpful. Wifi worked in my room - which is an unusual benefit.

• JP (6/5): Hotellets standard varierade - När vi anlände på kvällen satt det en tjej i receptionen som var riktigt trött, slaskigt klädd och förmodligen påverkade av diverse ämnen. Hon var extremt ointresserad av att hjälpa oss på något vis och väldigt oengagerad överhuvudtaget. Hon var så väck att jag undrar om hon ens förstod att hon checkade in oss. NEN, på morgonen och förmiddagen efter fanns det bra personal på plats som var väldigt seriösa och hjälpsamma, därav får hotellet ett medelbetyg då kvälls/natt personalen hade fått -1 om hotels haft det på betygsskalan och dagtidspersonalen hade fått en stark 5a. Perfekt hotell att stanna till vid men tror inte det passar för en veckas semester.
• Alco (6/5): Nice as nice as before - I stay in this hotel before an was very happy with the room for the money. Clean, tidy, on suite room which was excellent value. This time I found the room not so good. The wall paper was peeling from the walls. The windows looked directly into to the next door high rise that is under construction and there wasn't any hot water. The other room was much better. Still for the money and for one night it was completely fine and generally the staff are very nice and helpful.

The condition of the hotel - poor - wallpaper falling off, no chair in the room, decoration is dull - the room is rather small but the furniture is in dark colour, making the room appears even small. No amenities provided. Restaurant only serves breakfast but not meals. Not a 4 star hotel but a two star hostel. Barely acceptable.

• Susan R (8/5): Well located mid range Hotel - I stayed at New Avon Hotel upon arrival from a long flight. I found it to be comfortable enough, and as I had a room on an upper floor,very quiet. It was very clean and the bathroom appeared new. I found the situation useful, as it was convenient for the Ferry Port, about ten to fifteen minutes walk away.
• Don (2/5): Keep Looking - At the end of our 3 week Africa safari/scuba trip to TZ, we chose this hotel for our last night prior to departure out of DAR. The staff was friendly and cordial, however anything to be fixed, wasn't. Cable TV, internet and safe were out. Even the water was off on the day of departure, however we did get a bucket of water to wash off with. We were told that it would be working in a couple hours but never was. Downtown locations are to be avoided, (noisy, traffic, loudspeakers, etc.) Unless you are there on business, avoid staying downtown...

• Ingo (4/5): New Avon Hotel dar es Salaam - The area is downtown Dar es Salaam, so very noisy area. The view is onto old buildings. The breakfats choice is poor. The rooms are OK. Everthing works.
• Natalia (4/5): You get what you pay for aka not much. - I must have shown up to this hotel in a transition period because my experience was awful. My hotel room was dusty and I took a shower with flip flops on because I didn't trust the cleanliness. The next day the A/C malfunctioned and I can back to my room with a dismantled A/C, and then waited about 45 minutes before a hotel employee came over to help me move luggage to a new room. The new room was just as dusty and then one of the pillows still had makeup stains. And that did it for me, never staying there again EVER.

• David (6/5): Adequate Place to stay... - I have a lot of Africa Travel experience, so I am used to the range of accommodations. This hotel is safe and clean, staff is friendly. BUT it is not well located, the neighborhood is rundown, very traditional African and there are no good places to visit or nearby restaurants, not a place to be outside after dark. Location is three or four blocks due west of the ferry terminals to Zanzibar. The bed mattress was rock hard. Price is ok. I would say, this hotel is not for the first time visitor to Africa.
• grady (6/5): Nice hotel if your there for business. - The room was clean, staff was friendly and kind but the bed was as hard as the floor. Also I thought it had a bad location because you had to drive everywhere you wanted to go. Good hotel for people involved in the area for business not so good for others.
• Eleanor (8/5): Friendly staff, elegant lobby and nice stay - This is my second time at the New Avon Hotel. I will always stay here when I'm in Dar. The staff, food, and accomodations are great. There is also taxi service available to get around the busy, congested city. The staff are fast becoming like family--so attentive. Although it's not 5 star in ratings, I'm pleased to say it's a nice place to rest.

• Verified traveler (4/5): NY ALLAIS PAS!! - Globalement déçu, la chambre sur la photo etait tres charmante, quand je l ai visité et posé mes affaires elle était très bruyante, pas de double vitrage, la clim etait très bruyante, un petit frigo en mauvait état et fonctionnant très mal, en ce qui concerne le petit déjeuner je suis arrivé 35 min avant la fin, résultat presque plus rien, ils ont refusé de me servire!! le jour ou je devait partir ils ont voulu me faire payer 2 fois MA CHAMBRE!! J AI DU HAUSSER LE TON LEUR EXPLICANT QUE J AVAIS PAYER PAR INTERNET ET QU IL ETAIT HORS DE QUESTION QUE JE REGLE UNE NOUVELLE FOIS. le lendemain je suis partis dans un autre hotel ou j ai trouver ENTIERE SATISFACTION
