The hotel is about a 25 min walk from the station but the staff were very helpful and arranged a taxi for us when we checked out. The breakfast was good and catered for vegetarians and people who adhere to a halal diet. Would recommend!
• Foo Wah (10/5): Happy, will stay again - We stayed one night, went to Taroko to stay a night, then back to Cullinan. The hotel is fine, bus 301 from the train station, with a complimentary shuttle to and from the train station if booked 24 hours in advance, which we made use of.

Our room was clean and very comfortable. We loved the breakfast provided as they even catered for vegetarian. Staff were very helpful and knowledgeable. We would definitely stay here again.

Breakfast is good with a wide variety of food. There is a supermatket just across the street. Places of interest not exactly near, about 15-20 minute walk, e.g. to railway station or night market. Overall, we are happy staying here.

It's near to the shopping mall which you can do some shopping during night time other than going to the night market. Overall we enjoy our 2 night stay in this hotel.

• Irene (6/5): Neat and clean, but tired. - Very helpful staff. Hotel itself is a bit dated. Shower- the hot water cuts out for 1-2 seconds every 30 secs or so. Learnt to step out and back in. Rooms are spacious.

• Wandaroon (10/5): great hotel! - I travel with family (3 elderly) so the pick-up service from train station is great. Additionally, there are a shopping mall, 7-eleven and a clinic nearby with short walk. For traveler with long stay in Taiwan, this hotel also has laundry service, wifi and internet computer. All staffs are very friendly and offer an English-speaking driver for Tarogo tour (recommended).
• lan (6/5): Old hotel - It's old, not newly built as someone said. The room is acceptable but bathroom is old, can see dirt or rust under the bath tap. The insulation is not good, door close from other rooms could wake you up at night. Hotel is very nice to offer free pick up and transfer from hotel to station.

Rooms are small but meet all your needs for a short stay. Pick up and drop off from the station was very useful.Staff could not do enough, organised trips and sorted an air purifier for our room.
• Serene (6/5): Nice stay - I always have a habit when travelling is to check all windows to make sure they r all lockable. found out that at the back of the toilet mirror, there is a window that is not locked. Meaning to say a mirror built over a window. Quite dangerous i would say. Imagine people able to come in during night while we r sleeping. Other than that, no complain as it is only 1 night stay. Location is good too. Going for food or shopping is all nearby. Will recommend to my peers. Cannot really rate the services as my time spent there is really short to experience it.

Though the hotel buffet spread was manageable, what stood out for the hotel was that they have very good staff which provide excellent customer service.

• Bikers in Boston (6/5): decent hotel in good location - Location is good, walking distance to the city centre. Room was clean and ok, nothing fancy. Although our room had a strong cigarette smell, even though they advised us not to smoke at the check-in. We decided to take it anyway cause it wasn't so bad. But our clothes were quite smelly the next morning. So next time we would definitely ask for another room. Breakfast was very Asian, not much to enjoy for a European eater.

The lady at the counter assist me with my hotel booking for the next destination and even help me to book a train ticket in advance w/o me knowing. This gesture of hers hv really touch my heart as being a solo traveller, to me is wow.. Forgot to ask for her name, but anyway gudos to her service. As for location wise, abt 15-20 mins walking distance from famous night mkt but would advise to take cab as the walking area is along the road side n under a bridge, not bright enough thus abit scary n dangerous to walk at night. Abt 10 mins car journey away from railway stn, so still ok for 1 night stay.
• Retiree (8/5): Good affordable accomodation - The room is clean and comfortable. The furnishings look brand new. The staff are also very helpful. Only thing is that there could be variations in the breakfast. We had the same spread of food for the 3 days we stayed there.
• Mike Demana (8/5): Very helpful! - I liked that they answered my email promptly and picked me up from the train station. They were extremely helpful in booking a Taroko Gorge tour -- which was the main reason for being in town. They also did their best to phone the train station on our behalf when a problem arose. Only negative is the lack of restaurant choices in the area...but a taxi can get you to one if you've picked one out ahead of time.

• tracyt (10/5): Budget hotel with 5 star service - What more do you expect with a budget hotel price with a 5 star service? Best service we ever get with the price we paid. It started with friendly reception & a warm welcome postcard in our room. Friendly and great service from the hotel staffs, they even provide free transfer to TRA station & assist with train ticket booking back to TPE with just a little service charge. Highly recommended if you don't mind a clean budget place with top notch service to sleep.

• Jeremy (6/5): Good value, but location could be better - This is a good value 3 star hotel. I paid less than S$70 for my one night stay just before the Lunar New Year period. The room and bathroom are dated, but clean on the overall and the bed is comfortable. It's at least 15 minutes away from city centre where the crowd is (on foot, for food and shopping).
• Trevor (10/5): Perfect Choice - I booked this hotel on the descriptions of how helpful the staff were and the price. First, the price was great value compared to other hotels. The location is very good, next to a large department store and several restaurants and cafés in walking distance. The hotel was a little older (there was a little mould on our ceiling) but otherwise very well maintained, spacious, and quiet. The beds were comfy, the tv had a lot of good channels, and the bathroom was big. The breakfast was fine with western and Taiwanese options. What really stood out is the staff. Most spoke great English, and those who didn't spoke enough to help us. Every request - including arranging a car rental - was handled promptly and exceeded my expectations. When I pointed out that we could not get wifi signal in our room, the provided a wifi router to connect to the LAN port in our room to give us bourbon mini wifi network! Top notch staff, there is no need to stay anywhere else in Hualien.
• Traveller (4/5): Great location but poor room condition - The location of the hotel was great but cleanness of room has to be improved. Rooms are also quite small and toilet door is kinda transparent which makes it awkward if you are traveling with friends.
• David (8/5): Cullinan Hotel stay in December 2013 - The hotel is centrally located. Short distance to shopping street, night market and train station. We are staying in a family room for 4 with 2 double beds. Room was clean and comfortable except with some damp and mould smell. Mould on ceiling. Service was fantastic. Staff are very polite and friendly. Provides shutter service to railway station (Need advance booking) but we did not and the staff managed to arrange for us when we requested about 3 hrs before we checkout. Room comes with free breakfast for 4. Standard Taiwan style with porridge and bread etc.
• SAM (10/5): Really wonderful staff/service and great value - Good value: decent room, nice location and very nice staff. The night market is a bit of a walk and it's an odd walk due to a bridge which you need to pass under--we walked and it was ok, just were a bit unsure about it and took a taxi back (GREAT night market--must visit!). Plenty of restaurants, etc. nearby and a cute little outdoor bar and pizza oven place called Tiger Bar just around the corner. This was a great place for us to stay for a day trip in to Taroko Gorge. Highly recommended.

• Lynn (10/5): Cheap and good. - Booked the hotel as a rest stop from my backpacking trip. And among all the place I stayed in, this was the best hotel with great service (I checked in at 3am in the morning after taking the TRA), the guy was waiting by the door for me and had all the documents ready for me to sign so that I can head to the room to rest my feet. The guy spoke in English at first and only spoke in mandarin after I told him I can understand. Snacks were provided with ample amount of bottled water for my consumption. The hotel was very clean (clean toilets) and the room is very inviting. Being on a backpack trip, I need to fill my stomach a I go, this hotel provides simple breakfast! A place to stay.
• Teresa (8/5): Good Deal and Friendly Staff - Overall, this was a great hotel for the cost. Ideal location close to the night market, eateries, and department stores. The staff were very professional and responsive. I also appreciated the use of bikes and umbrellas. The room was also nicely decorated and kept, BUT there was a mild stench of cigarettes, which made it not a "non-smoking" room. Made my clothes smell of old cigarettes, which was an inconvenience. The bed was also a bit too hard and the seating wasn't very functional in the placement.

Hotel next to the big shopping mall, you can shop around and have food court to suits your needs.... Hotel size okay, it is clean and with such price range, it is good enough. Location is good, have lots food stalls and small shops you can enjoy and walk around to explore.

• Andrew (10/5): Good experience! - The hotel is about 2.4km from the train station- a 25 minute walk. Staff are attentive and very friendly and helpful. Hotel room was bigger than expected and all the amenities were provided including free snacks and water. The chamber maids were very attentive to detail and helped to arrange my toiletries neatly everyday. Its walkable to the night market (15 minutes) and its next to the biggest mall in Hualien. The buffet breakfast had a great spread- about 4 drink varieties, hot buffet, salad, porridge, rice, soup, bread and garnishes. The wifi signal was not very strong- but overall it was a great experience! Cheers

• avatar (8/5): comfortabe, spacious room for a family of four - Very comfortable room and very attentive service. They were very quick to fix all thebproblems i encountered e,g, setting up wifi (which is free) and the fridgd not working. Would recommend going for this place.
• Jc (10/5): Very good - The hotel is about 20 min drive from the train station, suggest taking a taxi or prearrange their pick up service. Took us 40 min to walk from the train station to find out they have shuttle service to and from the train station but need to prearrange. The room is clean with free wii fi, breakfast is ok. People is very friendly. I would definitely stay there again
