Guest Reviews
- Ezekiel (8/5): - Its was a good room for the price, bsthroom was a new experience but i didnt mind.
- margalit (10/5): - Was a lovely short stay, with everything I could have asked for.
- Nathaniel (10/5): Lovely stay - Lovely stay in a standard hotel in the heart of the city. We were gifted a lovely souvenir upon checkout. Bed was comfy and A/C worked well. Nice bathroom.
- David (10/5): - Staff was great! Chill spot!
- Jose Ramon (10/5): Superb hotel and sweet staff - I spent only a night here, but wish I had stayed another night. It had one of the sweetest staff I have ever met. Very welcoming. Room was large and comfortable and was close to a large amount of cafes and restaurants. Staff wrote me a goodbye postcard, which was very kind and memorable after many months of travel.
- Jaelen (10/5): - I enjoyed my stay here. Location was good and amenities were very reasonable for the price. Hotel staff make you feel right at home and are happy to help you!
- Nathan James (10/5): - It was a nice sized room. It was quiet and very comfortable.
- Michael (2/5): - Would not recommend
- Louis (4/5): - The review i read before i booked, said a coffee shop/ restaurant, however on arriving and wanting to eat someting at 3 pm, the little coffee dhop/ restaurant was closeto close.
Also pn walking for many hours there are no proper restaurants, unless you to the central CENTRAL PLAZA
NOT VERY CONVENIENTLY
What a stupid tine yo co
- Andrew (10/5): - I only stayed there one night but the staff were so friendly and room was clean and well prepared. Would certainly stay there again if in Surat. The night market is great for food.
- Richard (10/5): - The staff were very helpful. The room was well worth the cost we payed for it. Many eating options in the area. It’s also very close to the night market.
- Murphy (4/5): - Dirty, uncomfortable, washroom facilities awful
- Eugene (10/5): - I always stay here when visiting Surat Thani. Easy walk to both the night market and the river front. Also, the bus station is 5 min walk (Phantip Travel). I like this option for travel to Krabi because no need to go to train station, which is 25 min ride away and 150 baht or so. Be sure to do Phantip Travel booking online, as they dont sell tickets at the office location. Bottom line, this hotel is a great choice when bouncing through town for either Krabi/Phuket etc, or Samui. Wifi works fine. Restaurant options within a minute walk.
- Paul (8/5): - Central location, very friendly staff.
Bed hard
- Aoi (10/5): - Thanks for the good service
- Camdu1 (8/5): Old style Thai hotel in central location - A simple old style Thai hotel in the centre of town. Very friendly helpful reception staff who speak English. I just stayed one night in a single room with fan on 4th floor with shared cold water shower. Paid 210 thb. But would probably get a better more expensive room if staying longer.
Walking distance from the downtown bus terminal and Phantip office for island transfers. Nearby excellent night market for delicious food.
I would recommend this simple hotel.
- Myldwin (10/5): - It was really pleasant staying there. I would definitely stay there again if I am in the area.
- JigmedP (10/5): Quiet, pleasant, old and hospitable - A lovely old, quiet Thai place for those of us who love old Thailand.
A really pleasant refuge from the obnoxious, loud party Russians who have destroyed Thailand.
If you are a rich Russian here for the fancy room, drugs and prostitutes, you won’t appreciate this place.
This is definitely the most pleasant stay we have had in Surat Thani.
- ntsh2018 (6/5): Really nice - A nice place to stay for one night. The room is old and hot but there is a van. Bathrooms are also fine. Staff is really nice, they help you at any time you want and the thankyou card definetly makes the visit. The hotel is next to a cinema en in the middle of the centre
- Charles (10/5): - Very comfortable, clean & quiet which was exactly what we needed!
- G2Kpauly (10/5): Great stay. - I have no complaints with this hotel. The location is fantastic, the rooms clean, wifi strong, aircon good and hot shower. Staff were friendly and even gave me a post card thanking me for staying there which is really nice. I will stay next time in Surat as it's a good budget option.
- Jevons (8/5): - Nice and helpful staff. Very convenient location to walk in town for eating at the night market and riverfront walking. They can help book ferry tickets for you. They give me a postcard with my name on it. A little surprise. Not many hotels are doing this nowadays. It is an old hotel and not updated. There is no hot water pot, no coffee in the room, no elevator. You have to go downstairs to get hot water for your coffee and instant noodle.
- Traveller0099999 (2/5): My baggages lost!!!! - I usually stay here when i come Suratthani every 1-2 week.i always kept my 2 baggages understair nearby lobby as the staff said can park there. But now it lost!!! I ask at reception.they try not to help me to find it.They just only said they can't find it .I ask them to check CCTV but they refuse to help me to check it.It too bad service!!!too bad security!!!
- Thirst-Aid (10/5): Loved this place - Okay, bear in mind this IS a budget hotel - so when I give it 5 points don't expect a high end hotel, just a budget hotel that is 100% worth what you'll have to pay for it.
Great location, great helpful and friendly staff who will go out of their way to help you in anyway that they can - and very clean - oh, and a great price and great value.
You really can't go wrong here.
- Mike_MCMLVII (8/5): Good Inexpensive Hotel - We ended up staying a couple of nights at this hotel. It's an older building but it's kept clean. The bed was comfortable and the street noise was minimal. The staff was friendly and helpful.
There are several restaurants within walking distance, the night market is just down the street.
A word of note, ask to stay on the second floor, not the third floor for two reasons: First there is no elevator so you will be lugging yourself and everything else up and down the stairway, Second the fourth floor appears to be setup as a Hostel. We stayed on the third floor and we heard people walking around upstairs going to and from the bathroom even though it is posted on the forth floor not to leave your room or walk around after 10:00 pm. We heard people walking around well after midnight so this seems to be a “rule” that isn't enforced.
- Vicky864 (6/5): Handy - I stayed one night on my way through.
+ Great location for arriving on a bus & right by night market for food & many ATMs
+ Pick up point for airport shuttle bus booked through reception
+ Welcoming staff
+ Big double en suite room with fan
+ Largely clean
- But I had some large ants coming in a bathroom corner ceiling hole even on 3rd floor (for management info - room 344)
- Don't take credit cards - especially annoying as I booked with registered card on Booking.com & expected that to be charged so I didnt have enough cash to pay for the room, & so it cost me as much to withdraw enough as I needed.
- Praba (8/5): - It was a short stay before going to the airport. The room was big but not enough amenities. Fork spoon are not available. Some of the staffs can’t understand, I requested for a change of bedsheet and they shook head only. Nearby night market is good with all local foods and the popular padthai shop.
- B1188AMkevinm (8/5): Wild and nice - Bungalow for 600 thb in super clean masonry and for 400 more basic in wood. Only fan no a / c. The staff is pleasant enough and one of them is a great singer! Every day you could listen to him with his guitar! Poor food ... but this seems to me a big problem on the island or at least all the places with high tourist concentration.
To repeat...
Ah remember ... the bungalows are on the beach and in the midst of vegetation without AC so insects and the like are not difficult to find ... with patience, especially the bungalow is more spartan.
- Emma (6/5): Miss informed - Overall the hotel was good, only issue was, I emailed in advance to ask if they had a smoking area in the hotel for my partner. I was told there was so we booked with them. Upon arrival he was told there was none and he had to go out on to the street when ever he wanted a smoke. To some this would not be a problem, but if you are told in advance there was an area within the hotel then there should be. Nothing worse then entering a building and there are people outside it smoking (I am not a smoker) where you have to walk through them. Hotel should of been more honest and say they are a smoke free hotel and we would of booked somewhere else, simple.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The rooms were clean but smelled very bad. One was very musty and the other smelled of cigarettes very badly.
Other than that I can't complain about value for money.
Clearly a basic decent 2 star Asian hotel with receptionists eating lunch behind the counter and another member of staff sleeping on a sofa in reception.
- Bret (10/5): - Spent one night here before heading to Koh Samui... Wish we would have booked another night just to tour around more.
Hotel is great, right next door to the night market and floating market if you have time.
Book your onward tickets here they are cheaper than anywhere we found.
The staff is amazing even made a custom card for us when we checked out.
Will definitely stay here again.
- Skye (10/5): Excellent - Excellent value place with an adorable lobby and assistance in booking any transportation. Very helpful staff. Close to night market and open streets.
- Skye (10/5): Great quick stay - This was a great quick stop before continuing on to the koh Samui islands. Cute travel themed lobby. Staff was friendly and quick and they offered tickets to the islands and a pick up from the hotel. Location close to a 7/11 as well.
- ellao417 (10/5): Great for one night - We stayed for one night and it was great they let us check in at 7am straight off the sleeper bus as we were so tired, good little location not much to do in Surat Thani but we walked to the street market that’s about it. We booked our onward travel to Koh Samui with the hotel and it was a great price and great service. We even got a little post card after checking out to say thankyou for our stay!
- Verified traveler (10/5): great - great
- Glen (10/5): Highly recommended, clean, quiet. - Very clean rooms. Quiet and comfortable. I highly recommend this Hotel. Great value.
- dampuero (2/5): Dirty, and rude people at reception - The room is dirty, the bathroom as well, bed sheets may look clean at first but pay close attention, stains that could even be blood from mosquito bites to other people. Mosquitos all over, mostquiot nets at windows don't work properly. Smelly, corridors dirty, glasses and windows too. The people at reception smile to get your money, but when is very rude if you need help or have some issue. They just lough and talk in their language. During the night people se y reception doesn't speak English, so they can hardly help you even if you need an extra towel. The manager is super rude, and the woman at the payment desk. Worst hotel experience in thailand.
- Alexander (10/5): - Lovely place to land, right next to a cute market.
- christopfur (10/5): Gets the job done - Good location, near the night market. It gets the job done with the essentials. Private room and shared bathroom. Only concern, no air conditioning, and it was hot on the top floor. Towel service provided at no extra cost.
- LoveTravel822225 (10/5): Awesome hotel - This hotel is best in this area. Many people are service in this hotel. Service men are very honestly. Many big hotel in this area. Low costly hotel in Surat. Indian food are very testfull and helthfull.
- NTtime (10/5): Cheap hotel with value money - The room was more than we expected.
We love a ground, super strong power of shower, it clean and good atmosphere.
You can reach night market within 10 minutes walk. There are plenty of food with lovely price.
- lewismX5921PQ (8/5): Very cheap hotel in Surat Thani. - My Place is a very cheap place to stay, even compared to cheap Thailand prices.
The room I stayed in was decent with a comfy double bed. No air con but there was a ceiling fan which kept me cool all night.
Shared bathrooms were ok.
The staff are friendly and they left a personalised greeting card in my room when I arrived, and gave me a free postcard when I left. They also helped me with boat tickets and airport transport.
- flaminwil (8/5): Very nice place in an authentic town - The crew's english could be better but they do everyting to please you.
Nice big room, clean and the price is right too.
At first there was an unpleasant smell all over the place. Might have come from outside.
After we mentioned it, they opened all doors and windows and it disappeared.
Surat feels like Thailand used to be 20 years ago: very few tourists (all rush through to the islands) great night markets, no rip-off mentality.
- vickiizzp (10/5): Nice and Cheap - The hotel is nice , clean and cheap , this hotel is only about 5 minutes walk to the night market where you can buy local food and shopping , Also this hotel is close to Phantip Travel office , where you can take a cheap ticket to Koh Samui , Koh Phangan, Surat Thani Airport , Khao Sok , Ratchaprapha Dam, Krabi and Phuket etc.
- Janoo0601 (10/5): Good location & hospitality - The hotel has very good location just next to street food market and city center. Very warm welcome, friendly and helpful staff at reception, nice & clean room for affordable price - good value for money.
- Anddrew (8/5): Excellent staff - Very friendly and helpful staff, who helped us with our onward bookings. Room Was a bit dated but was good for two nights we stayed. Close to a night market and a few good places to eat.
- mick (8/5): Great place - Nice place to stay. Great price for the room. Not much to do.
- rose (8/5): The hotel was clean and centrally located - Enjoyed our stay
Happy that it was very clean.
Staff were pleasant and helpful
- Pat (8/5): Good location! - - Great welcoming
- One stop service, tour, airport transfer, other transports
- Room is clean, comfort
- Good location
- Reasonable price for the budget hotel
- A (10/5): We'll be happy to return - This was the most welcoming of hotels. The management went the extra little bit that adds miles in comparison to others and their service was always with a smile.
- Chatchai (8/5): Good location, good staffs and good rooms - Hotel is located in Surat Thani downtown with private car park and short walk to night market. There are many convenience store nearby the hotel.
Room is big clean and comfortable. Staffs are very friendly, helpful, and polite.
If you are traveling with elders, you have to make sure that they're healthy because no elevator to service.
In the whole picture, I really love this hotel because good location, good staffs, and good room.
- Lynette (8/5): Nothing around there - I wouldn't stay in surat thani anyway but if you have to I would recommend this hotel.
There was a woman on the reception who spoke english. But on the other day there were two men who didn't understand 1 word in english and thia was quite hard because I needed a transfer
- Juan Jose (10/5): - Stayed there for just one night, but the staff was very helpful and the location is very convenient, the night market is just round the corner.
You can hire on reception the transfer to the airport and the bus stops right in front of the hotel at the time agreed.
Wi-Fi es great and all in all a good place to stay.
- Vipin (8/5): A great stopover to Ko Samui - Great stop over before taking the ferry to Ko Samui. Staff was very helpful. Arranged our transfer and ferry tickets
- Ignacio (10/5): Perfect!! - Awesome place. Superb location metres away from food market. Beautiful staff. Spotless. Will definitely come back!!
- Verified traveler (6/5): Find for one night - Clean and basic, fine for a one night stopover, near a night market which was good for food, and not far from the ferry terminal.
- John (10/5): - Great in every way. It did not have a lift. So, if you can do stairs not for you.
- Susan (10/5): Very good, central hotel - You are close to everything at this hotel. The night market is a block away. We got our dinner there each evening. Delicious fresh food.
- Victoria (10/5): Very clean, spacious room with great staff - Really clean hotel, spacious room and good WiFi. The staff were really welcoming and very friendly. They have a restaurant next door which serves nice and very reasonably priced food. The location was good - very central in Surat Thani. We only stayed overnight, to get a boat the next day, so didn't get to explore to far.
- Connor (4/5): Convenient for transfer for 1 night - OK for one night. We were a little disappointed with the service from staff (we booked the hotel based on the previous guests comments about how friendly the staff were). We found staff were not particularly friendly and we felt awkward when approaching the reception desk to ask for directions. That said the the staff were not rude at all.
The locals don't appear used to European tourists and were intrigued/ curious...be prepared to have the locals stare at you frequently - they were all perfectly friendly however.
- Lyn (10/5): Spacious room and clean. Best value in town - We were surprised when we entered the room. Big and clean. Staff were very helpful and polite too. Location wise it is near to family and the night market. Glad that we chose My Place!
- Avi (10/5): Clean and friendly - We needed to stay night for ferry and My place was good answer for this reason, cheap, clean and friendly front desk. Water preasure at the shower must be better.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Cheap Airport Shuttle - I was staying overnight in transit. There was a welcome board with my name on it. The hotel was clean and next door to a night food market and two roads from an internet café, both of which I needed. There was a hotel map showing both. I was cross with myself as I saw there is an airport shuttle for 150THB and I had already booked a 400THB tuc-tuc.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Clean, comfortable, and convenient - Basic but very clean. Great wifi. Friendly and helpful staff.
- Verified traveler (10/5): My Place, hotel at Surat Thani - we check in on 3 July . Stay for a night before our transit to Koh Samui. Nice hotel and the staff are very helpful. Highly recommend to those who want to stay at Surat Thani before transit to Koh Samui. Good location. 5 minutes walk to night market with variety of local food .
- Seth (10/5): Great personal touches - The staff was so friendly and they really made you feel special on a personal level.
- Steven (10/5): Wonderful! - Extremely friendly staff! Very personal hotel- my name was written on a board to welcome
me and they gave me a hand written postcard thanking me for my stay after I left. Room had towels in swan shapes and bed was very comfortable. No elevator, but staff helps you with your luggage. We stayed there Because our flight into Surat Thani airport landed after the last ferry to ko samui. Hotel sold bus+ferry tickets to get to ko samui- it cost 20 THB more than the regular price but they take you to
The bus which is great. Really great hotel! Very pleased!!
- Janelle (10/5): Very good value - We only stayed one night but we felt very welcome here. For the price this hotel was very good and they organised our bus trip to the airport. If you need to stop over I would recommend this hotel.
- Clive (8/5): Great budget hotel - This a great budget hotel providing all you require at a very reasonable price. The staff were very friendly and helpful. It's centrally located next to the night market. If your staying in Surat Thani to catch the ferry the next day it's ideally placed for catching the bus to the ferry.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great hotel. Room was nice and clean, the staff were beyond accommodating. We decided to book two more evenings there and we were upgraded to a nicer room, which was a great touch. Couple of minor complaints; there is literally no hot water running through the showers (at least in our room) but this seems common in much of Thailand. Upon leaving we were almost charged for a bottle opener, two bowls and a spoon but upon explanation that we switched rooms and that the utensils were in the previous room to the front of house staff, this issue was quickly justified. All in all a fantastic hotel. Must stay if you are in Chiang Mai.
- Kayleigh (8/5): Nice hotel - We only stayed one night to break up the journey so it did what we needed, nice hotel, good facilities and can even rent a DVD for free.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice hotel in a very handy locality - Nice hotel with a mix of back-packer and private rooms. No lifts but very helpful staff. As usual, never knew what to tip for helping to carry up the bags. We were just over-nighting on our way back from Koh Samui (traveling from the island by ferry to Donsak, then Surat Thani and flying out).
- Sejal (8/5): Perfect for one night on a budget - Stop over for one night before leaving from airport. Fantastic location, fantastic food market! Free wifi which worked brilliantly. Rooms very basic but sufficient.
- Bernard (4/5): Decent hotel for a night in transit - Decent little backpacker hotel near night market. Nice staff. Nothing special really. Good for a night in transit.
- Bente (10/5): - Very. Nice staff the. Only thing This hotel miss, is an elevator.
- Phil (8/5): Everything you need at a great price. - We chose MyPlace from the reviews and we weren't disappointed. Very clean, a good welcome from nice people (with one exception, a lady sometimes on reception let the place down). The rooms are large and had everything you needed, Air con, fridge, daily sheet change, TV and DVD at an amazing price.
The only real gripe is that the bed was extremely hard and not what we wanted at all.
There is no elevator so be ready for a heavy-lift if you are on a high floor. We are 'oldies' and two of the staff carried our bags to the 3rd floor without any prompting, well done them!
Visitors tend to leave very early in the morning for ferries and busses, so expect early noise and activity.
Breakfast not included, but available from the hotel cafe from 6am.
- stacey (10/5): - Stayed one night before a flight after leaving koh samui. This place was awesome. Super comfortable and clean room, welcoming staff, free dvd rentals, can set up shuttle to the airport right at reception. Lots of street food within walking distance. Really great service staying here was a real delight!
- Myhel (10/5): excellent value for money - comfortable clean room, welcoming service with personalized letter and loos bye card. Great location near stations, food market. Excellent value for money. Probably the best choice in Suratthani town of all hotels I have tried over the years
- Verified traveler (8/5): Cofotable. - Comfortable for the price.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Great place for an overnight - This hotel makes it easy to switch between transports. It is just a couple of blocks from the bus hub for getting to, if you arrive by bus. And the airport bus stops at the hotel to pick you up when you depart.
- Jess (8/5): Nice hotel but only one night needed - Hotel itself is nice, Good location, good facilities (such as free DVD rental, microwave, free bike), cafe sold good food but the area hasn't got much to offer. Not many tourists around so nothing was in English. It's very cheap place to go. There are night markets and floating markets which are only a short walk from the hotel. As a whole it was ok but much rather have been somewhere else.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Appreciated being given a map of the area around. - Helpful staff. Good size room. We only stayed a night but would certainly consider staying again.
- Tony (10/5): Wonderful service and great location. - The hotel is nice, rooms clean, sizeable, well appointed etc. The service is wonderful - at reception they welcome you with your name, same in the room and a postcard when you leave. They give you a map and general advice and recommendations - so helpful !!!
- Camila (10/5): - Excellent service, very clean. A great option to stay in your way to the islands.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Comfortable experience - This was a stopover before heading to the ferry to the Islands . It is a basic but perfectly acceptable hotel that puts in sone nice personal touches when yiu arrive and leave . Not having a lift we we given a room on the third floor which was a bit if a hike. There is limited car parking beside the hotel and not much to do surrounding except maybe to walk to the riverside or nearby food market .
Overall we were happy with our stay
- Andy (8/5): Stay over night. - We got to our hotel at round 8pm. we only stay for a short night, cause the next morning, we are heading to koh phangan. So, it's a short night for us. Overall it's not bad. Close to the bank and night market.
- John (8/5): Real Thailand - Okay place near night market. Clean but some noise during the evening and through the night. Not sure if from people coming/going from trips to outlying islands. Not much to do in the area, except eat, but food is great at the night market and you can sit down and eat with the locals. The city of Surat mainly a place for onward bound tourists to the islands or west to Phuket. If you are looking for night life, i.e. bars and such, forget here. Good to experience normal, everyday Thai life.
- Shih Pak (8/5): Nice staffs & convenient - Nice staffs & convenient
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great place at a great price! - The staff are fantastic! Really made us feel welcome. Wish we had spent longer than 1 night here!
- Porntina (10/5): Value for money, great location - For the price you pay for, this is a no frill and very clean place, great value for money. Location is perfect, within a walking distance to everything including the night market. The hallway could have been a bit brighter. If you have problem climbing flights of stairs, it is highly recommended to avoid this hotel.
- Lindsay (10/5): Perfect stopover hotel - Great location for a stop over in Surat Thani on the way to Ko Samui. 5 mins walk to the night market for some delish cheap food and a family mart right across the street.
Hotel booked our ferry tickets with transport to the pier for 240 thb per person.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice n cozy stopover between koh samui n surat thani airport.. worth for the price
- Verified traveler (8/5): Pleasant stay - It was a pleasant stay for a small place like Surat Thani. Near the pier, bus terminal and a massage parlour. Received a thank you postcard at the end of my stay, which I thought was very nice.
- Yen Ping (8/5): Great place to have a short transit - We stayed here as a transit from Koh Samui to the Airport.
The hotel provides very basic accommodation, great for transit. Located in the City center, where it is near to the night market, banks and walking distance to the Bus terminal.
Room is very clean, no lift so be ready to take the stairs. The hotel does provide a very personal touch by giving you a welcome note and a Thank you note when you check out. Hotel also provide good information for transfer and things to do in Surat Thani.
- Goh (6/5): value for money & good location - Value for money.
Good location.
- ankie (8/5): - very pleasant stay. Hotel is at close walking distance to the harbour where we took the night boat to Koh Tao. Very nice people.
- swe see (8/5): very nice hotel - clean good location and service
- Rel (8/5): Great stopover. - Nice and quiet. Staff helpful, but limited English. They carted our bags up the stairs for us, and helped with all requests.
- Hani (8/5): My second stay - Stayed one night here after Khanom before my flight home the next day. Good Location. Not too far a walk from where the bus frm the jetty stops and only 100m from the food market. There is a weekend market not too far from this hotel with plenty of local food stalls. The hotel is a bit dated and had no lifts. The reception had a welcome board with my name on and a personal welcome note in the room which was a sweet gesture.
- May (8/5): good choice for a night stay for transition - simple hotel with a good location. night market just few minutes away where you can enjoy the local food. hotel staffs are very friendly and helpful! they don't have elevators but no problems to me at all! just stay one night to catch up the ferry next morning to Koh Phangan, totally enjoyed my stay. Room is clean. Will definitely return if I ever need a night to stay in Surat Thani as a transit to islands. thank you for the lady at the reception to help calling Lomprayah, the ferry company that supposed to pick us up at the hotel but they didn't turn up. She was very helpful and called them a couple of times to make sure we won't miss our ferry! thank you!
