Guest Reviews
- Luis (10/5): - I likek the special attention I received from the personnel, they are very friendly, and i would personally would like to tank Anita, she went way beyond her duties and helped me to book a last minute trip to Petra, Jordan. High five Anita i really appreciate your assistance
- Yousef (10/5): - Very pleasant staff
Most friendly people
- JOSE (10/5): - Good
- Frank Joseph Wilson, (6/5): - Not in a nice area though it was convenient. The staff was wonderful! They made is into a positive. Very kind and very helpful staff.
- W (10/5): - The best part of this hotel is the Front Desk service. They are all nice and very helpful people working at the desk, and will help with just about anything. The rest of the staff is friendly too. A mostly comfortable and quiet hotel in a good location, if you don't mind older furniture and bathroom facilities. Overall a great experience here.
- Douglas (8/5): - We enjoyed our stay, it is near Harod’s Gate in Jerusalem.
- david (8/5): - The staff are very helpful and the breakfast buffet very good.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great staff - Hotel starting to show its age, but was clean and comfortable
Helpful and friendly staff
- william (10/5): AMAZING STAFF - The staff was absolutely amazing. The people who worked the desk were most helpful and friendly. The breakfast was absolutely excellent, one of the best I have ever had. Once again the staff at the restaurant were extremely friendly and helpful. The location was absolutely perfect, walking distance to everything. I would highly recommend this hotel to everyone. It was a great stay.
- Bernard (10/5): Anita at front desk was very helpful and very kind - Anita at the front desk was very helpful and very kind. She arranged the tours and transports. She saw to it what we needed in our stay and gave us clear view of city informations. We gave her a tip of $40 and we could had given more for what she deserved. Anita of Victoria hotel was amazing.
- Cheryl (8/5): Enjoyable stay! - This was a great location to walk to Old Jerusalem and surroundings like mount of olives and Gethsemane. The staff was excellent and helped make the stay. Not many area restaurants but was recommended Hotel Jersulam gardens where we ate and drank every night. Their staff was so friendly generous and outstanding food..will definitely recommend this hotel but it is rather “tired” and could use updating.
- Rokan (10/5): - Nice and quiet location, helpful employees, nice breakfast service.
- JORGE AURELIO (6/5): - Not Tv and dining
- John (4/5): - The property was conveniently located.
We picked this hotel because it stated it had parking. When we got there that was not the case. We spent a lot of extra money having to park in a distant parking garage.
- Edward (2/5): - Nothing was good with this hotel not clean at all we were chocked it is not even 2 stars please you have to be more helpful to us when we booked with you
- Alberto (10/5): - Staff ver nice and helpful
- Daniel (8/5): - Room was clean and breakfast buffet was excellent.
- lizzy (6/5): - old but clean
- Anne (8/5): More pluses than minuses - This small hotel was a bit hard to find since it's on a back street. The lobby is fresh and modern; the upstairs and rooms are adequate but definitely need an update. The staff was pleasant, helpful and responsive. The breakfast was more than ample if you like a Middle Eastern spread, which I do. The room was small and a bit noisy during the day from traffic and children in the nearby school, but I was mostly out during the day. The location is very close to the Old City and easy to reach by public transportation.
- Justin (10/5): - Amazing Hotel! Affordable, clean and homely! Plus the staff such as Anita, Michael and Saffan are as kind and accommodating as can be! Will definitely staying here again, highly recommended!
- Ron (10/5): - Breakfast is excellent! Heat in the room! Friendly staff! Great location to Old City!
- jeancarlo (10/5): - all very good, highly recommended
- Declan (10/5): - Very nice hotel in East Jerusalem. 5 minute walk from the Damascus Gate, great location. Very nice staff who helped me to book a tour of Galilee, the breakfast was good and the room was comfortable (albeit a bit dated, as is most of East Jerusalem. The neighborhood looks a little rough-around-the-edges, but was perfectly safe. Overall, I would highly recommend
- John (2/5): - Am extremely upset about the parking situation. THE reason we picked this hotel is that they offered free parking. When we got there we parked on the street to check in. Front desk staff said to leave our car there and we were in a legal spot. They said we didn't need to move it into their lot. We were told this three separate times. "Don't move your car it's good where it is." When we left to go to the airport we had a parking ticket.
- Frances (10/5): - My friend & I would like to express our gratitude to the staff at the Victoria Hotel for adding a very special layer to our first trip to the Holy Land of Jerusalem
From the moment we checked in late evening after arriving at the dazzling Ben Gurion Airport, there was nothing certain members of staff wouldn’t do for us.
A special thank-you to the lovely David in the restaurant who made us smile every morning and looked after us, to the lovely chef who made us a strong coffee every morning, to the lovely Mortese who cleaned our rooms and always made us feel happy, to Ata who would get Coca Cola when we needed it. They made us feel so welcome and like family and by the time we left we felt like family. We miss you all! And we'll be back.
On the practical side, hotel super central for the old city, beds super comfortable, very clean and good breakfast.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Liked that it had Parking...
Staff was Amazing...
Neighborhood looked a little scary at first...
But if you can overcome appearances.....
It’s honestly in a great location near garden Tomb and Damascus gate.....
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Friendly staff, good location. Good breakfast. Shower in bathroom get flooded if you take shower it is too small. Wifi don’t work in room. You have to go to Lobby to activate it.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I like the staff cooperation and the property location
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Majority of workers very friendly, except one.
Wifi did not work in our room, we have to sit in lobby to activate it
- celeste (8/5): Nice place - Wonderful manager who is very friendly and helpful. The staff was nice also. Place is comfortable. The food was delish and a nice variety. Only thing was the carpet needs cleaning. other then that it was nice to stay there and felt secure and comfortable.
- Amy (10/5): - Excellent choice for an easy walk to the Old City. Nice, clean room and hospitable staff.
- Luisa (10/5): Dr Luisa Bowman - It was an Awesome Experience as a solo female traveler from United States. The staff were extremely helpful. Once when I was running late, one of the staff members even took me to my tour bus in order to ensure that I didn't miss a tour. The rooms were always clean, and the sheets were always changed.
In terms of the air conditioner and the water temperature in the shower, they too were simply perfect.
I will certainly return to the Victoria Hotel and also refer others as well.

- Mat (10/5): Fantastic place to stay in the Old City - Great experience. The staff are friendly band helpful, the room is a great value, the AC is cold, and the breakfast is an out of this world smorgasbord!
- Minh (8/5): Good little know hotel near the old city - Good location. Friendly service. Helpful staff. The room somewhat old but comfortable.
The dining room provides 24 hr coffee and tea with hot water. The food was good but lack of variety.
The price is right for the location near the old city.
- Bernard (8/5): - The staff is very accommodating.Great location.Breakfast is fair
- ABDUL (6/5): - Front desk staff were great. However, the building and the rooms arent as great as they may seem in the images. Was quite disappointed in that. Also, the housekeeper was cleaning all the other rooms on the floor, as I was exiting I requested him to clean ours as well. He said he will have it done within half hour. I went for the Friday prayers and then returned but the room cleaning had not even started. Later that day, he came in for the cleaning when we went out for a trip but when we came back, he hadnt cleaned properly. He left the door wide open.
- Karen (8/5): Great location - Great location close to all the sites. Day staff was helpful. Breakfast great!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The manager and staff is great. I’m enjoy so much!!! Highly recommended
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Close to Old /City, ease of scheduling bus tours, pretty good breakfast
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Really its no bad but is old building happy staff good people
- ELANJIKAL J (8/5): Victoria hotel review - Location near Garden Tomb
- sohail (10/5): Ideal short stay hotel for Al-Aqsa for families - Excellent place to stay 12 minute walk to Al- Aqsa, whilst carrying child on my shoulders. Breakfast perfect, very friendly staff, amenities close by. We booked a room with 2 children and had no problems family orientated hotel.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The location was great. The hotel was clean if a little dated and tired. Check in was easy.
- Robin (6/5): - It was fine except everything I read said we were in easy walking distance to old city. I booked the room with my elderly mom (89) it was no where near close enough for her. The staff were great though. Very understanding of the situation so we only stayed one night of our 4 night stay.
- Anwar (10/5): - About 8 mins walk from Old city gate
Clean
Very good helping staffs
- Martin (10/5): - I like the staff they are very kind and attentive to my needs. Besides is close to the Old City of Jerusalem
- Verified traveler (2/5): - First showers were not working. Washrooms were not clean at all. Staff were not kind in answering our requirements. And last they refused Canadian dollars to pay my bill, saying I should change to US dollars or their currency. Though on line booking they said I can pay in Canadian dollars. Really disappointing service and quality :(
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The hotel close to the old city and the buses and train but my room have a badbug I have a lot of bits.
- Sridhar (6/5): Decent hotel, poor service, nice breakfast buffet! - The hotel was in a decent area where food was very inexpensive compared to other parts of Israel so that was a bonus. Despite this, on the first night, the hotel staff was not able to direct us to a place where we could find food and instead told us that everything around the area would be closed at 8p (when that was clearly not the case). Poor customer service for sure!
The breakfast buffet was very good. The food was fresh and the chef was happy to explain and tell us about the food....that was a nice personal touch!
- Lugo (8/5): - Clean and nice stuff, great breakfast and great location. Walking distance to the old city.
- Abu Hassan (2/5): Bad experience - Unfortunately I had a very bad experience at the Victoria hotel. The pictures are not a true reflection of the hotel, the breakfast is terrible and the service from the staff is terrible. Ebba was the only helpful person at the hotel.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Affordable, excellent location near Old Jerusalem, helpful and friendly staff, near the bus station, and one of the best breakfast spreads I've ever come across!
- ALEKSANDAR (10/5): Pleasant stay near old city - Hotel is a short walk (10 min) to old city. Staff is very kind and helpful. Room is clean, bathroom is ok. Bed is comfortable. Breakfast is really good, variety of tasty food.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - at this price leval, services are very good, condition is ok, location is the best.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The Victoria Hotel is very close to the Old City - within walking distance of the Herod Gate. There are many small stores and restaurants in the area. Our room was actually spacious - with a desk and chair, another chair, and a storage area. The beds we're comfortable. There was plenty of hot water and shower pressure.
Other Pros: A breakfast buffet included in the price of the room - had a variety of dishes, including scrambled eggs, a bean dish, diced hot dogs, cereals, yogourt, humus, pastries, etc. Coffee came as instant coffee packets - but it was actually not bad. Several juices and ready were also
The staff was excellent - polite, efficient and helpful. My wife asked for ice to put on a sore knee and they happily obliged. They also gave her an extra pillow. The owner arranged for a taxi to take us back to the airport.
Cons: There was a balcony, which we didn't use. It was at the back of the building and overlooked the grounds of another building - which was covered with litter. A blow dryer was not furnished.
We would recommend this hotel.
- Olivier (8/5): Great value for money with great location! - Great value for the price! The location is also very convenient to visit Jerusalem as it is close to the old city.
- gleason (6/5): - the hotel is very close to the old city and public transportation. The staff is not very helpful, when asked questions
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The Wi-Fi is very slow and drop off from time to time.
- Sue (4/5): Should have better choice - The location is easy to access old city. But we had bad experience about the laundry service. The laundry price was confirmed at $70, after finished, they charged me $150. After a long discussion, still have to pay $120. So, pls make sure u don't get special service. Its ok to have simply stay over night.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great customer service - Great customer service;)
- Adam (8/5): - I enjoyed my stay very much. In particular, I was struck by the courtesy and kindliness of the staff. The quality of the breakfast and the comfort and cleanliness of the room were fine, especially for the price.
- Cimmyanil (10/5): - We liked the location of the hotel which was near Herod's gate to the Old City. The hotel is on a quiet street. The breakfast was excellent and the room was comfortable.
- Jovica (10/5): - The staff was helpful, rooms clean and decent breakfast. Walking distance from the old city walls. I specially liked the barbershop that is right arround the corner.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Perfect location, excellent hotel! - Me and my father decided to stay at this hotel as we were looking for something located close to Masjid Al-Aqsa and relatives of mine stayed at this hotel and recommended it to us.
The hotel is a 15 minute walk to Masjid Al-Aqsa which I found perfect. The hotel staff are polite and helpful, the rooms are nice and simple. However, in regards to the rooms you do have to consider the standard of a 4* in one country will vary to another.
Would definitely recommend and in sha allah will stay there again on my next trip.
- mohammed (6/5): - The bathroom shower was not enclosed so after shower the whole floor becomes very wet. The bed was very low to the ground. The carpet is very dirty from the entrance to the bathroom. Small TV on the way. Air conditioning was very good and the location was great to walk around.
- Abilabob (8/5): - Good location walking distance from the Old City. Good buffet breakfast
Hot water, good WiFi
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great hotel and all. Close to everything. The staff are very good at helping you As a tourist.
- Samuel (8/5): Hotel close to the Old City - Hotel staff extremely nice as were the owners and workers in the surrounding facilities. A vibrant part of the city where I felt perfectly safe walking the streets night & day. Highly recommended.
- ABDULKADIR (10/5): - The stay at Victoria hotel was excellent. Very close to Jafa gate and Masjid Aqsa. Breakfast was excellent and staff was very helpful. The hotel was family friendly. I felt very safe.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Location is excellent, close to Alaqsa , shopping. - Love the area and people. Staff of the hotel are very nice. Service is very good. Hotel needed some remodeling which they are working on it. Needed new furniture and new doors.
- David (8/5): Convenient Hotel for Tourists - They have very small rooms, but we are adventure travelers and not luxury travelers. The best part about this hotel is it's economical, clean, great breakfast buffet and within close walking distance from the Old City.
- James (8/5): Victoria Hotel - All the employees were very friendly and amenable.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Modest hotel with great staff, friendly, helpful, - We (Christians) stayed in the Muslim quarter at the Victoria Hotel. The entire staff was extremely courteous and helpful.
This is not a 4 star hotel, but is modest and nice. It is about half price compared to 4 star hotels. They serve a full but modest buffet breakfast of traditional Muslim foods which fill you up for most of the day, no lunch needed!!
- mohammad (10/5): Wonderful service. Easy walk to the old Jerusalem - I had a wonderful time at the hotel and the service was outstanding. I would definitely stay again the next time I visit. 5 min walk from everything.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Not a good experience - We only had a few hours to sleep, so we went with a cheap room. The neighborhood is very sketchy, and run down. We had to wait 15 minutes for the clerk to get off the phone to check in (11pm). One side of the bed was lower than the other, so you felt like you were falling downhill. We called for assistance on how to find TV channels (black screen) and were told that he would be unable to help us with that. I would NOT recommend anyone to stay here. It might be cheap and close to the Old City, but it wasn't worth it.
- Man Lung (8/5): Friendly staff and great location - The staff are so friendly and helpful, especially Ahmat, Maan, and the man responsible for the restaurant. They are knowledgeable about the places and would tell you the best way to go.
It is very accessible to the old city, just few mins walk.
- rudolph (8/5): Great - I enjoyed. Thanks for hotel. Com
- Dorota Elzbieta (10/5): Very good experience - Extremly friendly stuff and room service made our stay in Victoria Hotel very nice and positive experience.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Disappointing - On arrival at the hotel, the street outside is covered with litter, however this is a problem right throughout Jerusalem
Staff are very friendly, speak good english
Major construction work going on at the hotel when we arrived
No fridge or Tea/coffee making facilities in the room
Electrical sockets were hanging on the wall looking dangerous
Tv had lots of channels but not many english.
The bathroom tiles were not finished off to a professional level and the paintwork was slightly dirty and in need of a coat of paint. Hot and cold water was good and towels were replaced daily. When next door neighbours used the water or toilet the noise from their system refilling was desperate and made it impossible to sleep.
The air-conditioning is a bit noisy, and the noise from next door neigbours doors sqeeking and banging when opening and closing was unreasonable too. Neighbours talking can be heard next door and in the hallway outside too, this could easily be resolved by putting up a few notices asking people to be quiet from say 10.00pm to 8.00am,
Beds were reasonably comfortable, bed linen was changed daily.
Breakfast was very good with lots of salad, cereal, tea/coffees, fruit and yoghurts.
There are no extra facilities at the hotel, no bar or lounge area.
Wifi is reasonably good, although it didnt work on our 1st day. The manager was very helpful in trying to resolve this and it was fixed next day.
- James F (2/5): Disastrous experience. They should have paid me! - The first night was good. I wanted to work in my room for a few hours before gong out. The lady who wanted to clean the room accepted that and waited until I went out and then had it done when I came back an hour later. She was friendly and spoke English well.
The next morning was a disaster.
While I was in the bathroom, someone began banging on the door insistently and loudly. I could not answer immediately. When I did there was no one in sight The room was never cleaned, no new towels, etc. I found some in another room. The next morning I tried to take a shower and the bathroom flooded. When I told all this to the person at the reception desk, there was a notable lack of sympathy. I cannot recommende the hotel. It was a disaster!!!!
- Rick (6/5): Friendly, affordable and convenient. - The hotel was perfect for our budget. We found the staff to be friendly and helpful with our needs. Wifi is strong and available throughout the hotel. There are numerous places to eat nearby with ethnic and western food selections. The area is very safe but at times very crowded. The markets and shops have just about anything you need and modestly priced. Our room faced the street so it was a bit noisy, especially at night. The TV cable is mostly foreign but CNN and and some news channels can be enjoyed. The free breakfast was good but try to get there early, especially when large crowds of tourists stay the night. We booked our tours with Nirvana, the receptionist at the National Hotel just around the corner. She was wonderful and accommodating. The trip was amazing from the start and we spent all day out walking and exploring. I would recommend staying in Jerusalem when visiting Israel.
- Shiko (8/5): Nice hotel close to the tourists attractions. - Nice but basic Hotel close to Herod's Gate. Excellent and helpful staff. Will definitely stay there next time.
- Joe (8/5): Nice hotel near to the old city. - Hotel was a little noisy but conveniently located. Friendly, helpful staff. Buffet breakfast, included in price, made the room price good value. I would stay there again. Very lucky with the weather - good timing although I was told it's good all year round.
- Abdul (8/5): Rehmani Family in Jerouselem from Sydney Australia - This visit purely a pleasure trip in the peak season of Easter, however I was there to enjoy the site, it was my first time to the city of Jerusalem, this hotel is in the Muslim Quarter, like the rest of the Israel, there is apartheid rules just like the days of South Africa. Muslim Quarter and Jewish Quarter. This hotel is stone throw from the Harrods Gate, great Location, everything is to a walking distance, I has two bedrooms at my disposal, apparently my bedroom door handle was broken and It could not be opened from outside, to me it was safety hazard in case of fire, handle from inside will also come loose and at times was hard to put back, once again on case of emergency evacuation, you may panic and end up trapped inside. Bathroom floor was water logged at time; toilet roll was in short supply. Breakfast was a very generous and many varieties. Dining staff was very friendly.
- Branden (10/5): <3 Palestine - Amazing
- anthony (8/5): Great - Good for everything clean cheap 2 minute walk from anywhere safe in room
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good location and very friendly staff - Very good location near the Old City (it's in a bustling Arab neighborhood, but that's not a bad thing) and extremely friendly and helpful staff.
- Verified traveler (6/5): A no-frills hotel close to the Old City - We enjoyed our stay at Victoria Hotel and would definitively recommend it to friends. It is a no- frills hotel with service minded and professional personnel. It is located a few minutes walk from the Old City, Herodes Gate, restaurants, and other attractions.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Buffet breakfast has eggs, hot dog pieces fried with onions and peppers, different salads, watermelon and small halvah pieces. 4 beds with 2 bathrooms with AC. Can walk to Garden Tomb. Let us park car behind gate. Hotel open 24 hours. In the Old City, very hard to find in Muslim area. Run down.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Close to the Old City and friendly staff - The restaurant next to the hotel was a quick and tasty way to grab dinner, and the staff was quite friendly and helpful. The room had working internet and great AC. The beds were loud and squeaky, but comfortable enough. Overall, the room was great for the price and location.
- Edward (10/5): Great value - I had absolutely no complaints about this hotel. The staff was friendly and rooms were clean. The only issue I had is that online mapping programs, such as Google, had it in the wrong location (the actual location is much better for seeing the old city), so be careful about making sure you go to the right location. The neighborhood might not be the greatest but it isn't that bad and the hotel itself is, as I said, nice.
- Linda (6/5): Close to the old city - Great to stay in an affordable hotel close to all amenities and the old city. While the neighbourhood looks a little rough we found everyone we met to be friendly and courteous! Over all we felt very welcome here.
- Ed (10/5): Great hotel considering only a 3 star - Victoria Hotel was just what we were looking for: A hotel close to the old city sites, a no frills hotel, clean, great place to rest and shower, without having to pay a fortune (during the packed holiday season). It took us less then 5 minutes to make it to the city wall (Heriod's gate). equally close by was the Garden tomb. This made it great to go out for quick tours and then be able to head back for a quick rest or clothes switch, WiFi being free was a plus and great using our smartphone. Right in the center of an Arab community, we could feel the heartbeat of the cultural with the hustle and bustle of the city life. The free breakfast was a taste of this culture best. Only the freshest vegetables and toppings along with plenty of pita bread and fruit, which we could load up on.
- Bob B (10/5): Great location - The staff is great. The breakfast buffet is super. It is within walking distance of the Old City. It's an older hotel and can't provide all of the conveniences, but for the price it is far above what one might expect. I'd recommend it to anyone that isn't demanding 5-star rooms. I'll stay there again.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Okay sleepover - There is nothing hotel-like in this place. But if you need to spend a night in Jerusalem and do not want to spend 200+ dollars, then this is okay.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Just all right - The location is what deters me from recommending this hotel. The breakfast was delicious though. Definitely worth waking up for
- Alec (2/5): Unpleasant experience - I asked called ahead to confirm that my room was one double and not two twins, when I arrived and found it was two twins the hotel staff told me to move my furniture and put the beds together. Not all of the lights in the room worked and the bathroom was cramped with the most dangerous shower I've ever seen.
- Liam (10/5): Superb value for money - I loved this hotel and it's location 10 mins walk from Old City. Super value. Friendly staff and very welcoming local people. Vibrant location and 'Old World' atmosphere. You cannot find a better budget offering.
- Chris L. (8/5): Close to old city; basic but felt safe - About a five-minute walk from Herod's Gate, this good-value property in an expensive city was perfect for my needs. The room was basic--no chair/table to sit at and read/work, but the bed was comfortable enough. The bathroom was small, and probably the worst thing I can say about the room was the shower/bathtub was cramped (the tub was tiny and had an awkward lip that made it impossible to stand anywhere but right on top of the drain), and the high water pressure led to water spraying all over the bathroom. For the rate I paid, though, that kind of stuff doesn't really bother me. The breakfast buffet was reasonable and had some very good options (hummus and pita is one of my favorite things to eat in this region), although the instant coffee powder left a bit to be desired in the caffeine intake department. Friendly staff, and they even let me park in a gated area next to the hotel, even though they don't advertise free parking. The hotel is in the muslim part of the city, but since it was such a close walk to the Old City and the light rail, I didn't have any issues with needing taxis or anything. I walked around the area at all hours of the day and night and never once felt unsafe, and I even parked on the street my last night without any problems.
- Julia (6/5): Decent hotel - My overall experience was fine. The price for a last-minute room was very reasonable. Accommodations were OK, but not exceptional. Pretty convenient location in East Jerusalem.
