Guest Reviews
- Alan (4/5): - Expensive and food was terrible wait so long for bad food
Tv only 5 Chanel’s
Bar no beer
Hated it !
- abraham (8/5): 3 days at this hotel. - a good service in general. you must have a free airport service.
- John (6/5): - Hotel needs major renovation. The TV did not work at all. Filthy gutters surrounding the building smell awful and mosquito infestation. The restaurant has minimal items on the menu. The staff is extremely friendly and courteous.
- I8473HOandreass (2/5): Stay away - Stay away. Hardly anything mentioned on trip adviser is true or still in place
No swimming pool
Hardly service
No mini bar
Hardly anything on the menu (even out of Coke)
Hardly other guests (which is a result of the above)
Free internet: you might be able to get your emails but making a call is challenging and so on
- Leason (4/5): - Stayed there many times before and was 100% better hotel very dated facilities very poor tv 100 years old only 4 channels no telephone working in the room AC leaking 2 of us stayed in the room only supplied 1 towel even after asking very poor standard receptionist very ignorant after asking for things to be fixed
- Erik (10/5): - Hotel was unique especially services received from Roland and and the ladies working at the front desk of the hotel was exceptional
I promise to recommend this hotel to all my friends, family and Colleagues
- Road06137020786 (10/5): Great hospitality - Hotel was Perfect in every way possible. Very helping staff, great food, great hospitality. One of incident happened with me, I fell sick and the staff helped and cooperated with me. The General Manager of hotel, has visited me at hospital and took care of me. I received very good support from hotel staff as well. I highly recommend this hotel.
- Daren (2/5): - The pictures on the website are nothing like you get in real life. The winning pool was a complete building site.
I asked where is the pool and i was told if i need exercise to use the gym and hopefully the pool will be finished before the end of the year. Nothing like the pictures on the website. I do hope somebody will be giving me some kind of compensation.
- DarenandKim (2/5): Terrible. Nice pictures on website. Completely miss representation. - Slight difference to website photos than the real life ones I took.
I asked where is the swimming pool and I was told to use the gym if I want to exercise.
Really fake advertising I would never set foot in here again.
I was looking forward to a swim and a cocktail by the pool.
- Ahmed (4/5): Disaster - I asked for an extra towel , they told me each single has only one towel !!
I found bugs in the room.
The food quality is very bad.
This hotel can’t be 4 stars at all.
- Prince (6/5): Room for improvement - Was ok, but some of the floor tiles need to be replaced room 225 bathroom and walking from the elevator 2nd floor towards the room, have loosely tiles
- stefanoss208 (4/5): Again disappointed - Disappointed? Of course. Suppose is the best hotel in town. I make the mistake and I choose again for my business trip. Not any improvement from the last time. Still continue the renovation (4th year), mosquitoes make check point to my body. Any time i visit the town the only time I don't use spay for mosquitoes is when I return from my job and make shower and go to eat. Maximum 1 hour on public spaces. I feel like a drummer to a rock band.!!! About food I wrote 2 years before. Disappointed to all. The 2 stars because is near to port and u have quick access to my job.
- stefanoss208 (2/5): Disappointed - I used the hotel since 2018 for long period due my business trips. Every year which pass the services and the leaving became worst. Especially this year the services was at least disappointed. The last 14 months the backyard with the swimming pool which was the relaxing place after a busy day still remain under renovation, the smookers used as outside relaxing place the car parking. About the food no variety no fantsy, the mostly days desert was just pineapple!!! The staff don't respect the costumers when each person change the play list or change and put their favorites TV programme. Another negative was that never clean the air condition filter. AC working every day and the dust which exist to all place due to renovation made the hygiene dangerous.
- DeborahELondon (2/5): Most awful experience - As shipping agency we have had numerous clients there and the whole thing has become a bit of a saga. Our guest was the first there after the lockdown. It took them 20 days to provide coffee. Renovations we are being done in the middle of the night. Frequent problems were never resolved. The only thing on the menu was rice and something every night. I don’t know who is writing these reviews but they are not accurate. We have been placing people on a regular basis there and have been very disappointed. It is definitely not worth the price
- 165kadirhank (10/5): Travelling - a nice hotel. kitchen staff is very friendly. Chef Ben is a highly accomplished chef who makes very skillful, very good meals. the buffet is super ând very good. Chef Ben did a very good job on the buffet ,housekeeping is very göod. Stâff always smile.
- jitenders2017 (10/5): Exclusive place to stay with professional staff and food - Amazing stay, calm place with good hospitality. Best hotel in Tema region close to the Tema port best suitable for business clients. Serves good local food and have gala buffet night every Friday, its a must visit.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The food was good. But didn’t felt comfortable on the bed, and also the television stations wasn’t clear
- navinh2019 (10/5): Absolute Heaven on Earth - Last month Me and my Wife we went to celebrate our 12th wedding anniversary to Royal Nick Hotel. We did not expect much from a hotel rated 4star. But little did we know .
We were blown away with the welcoming.
Our room was absolutely spotless , immaculate with all amenities and facilities . Air cond works extremely well we had very very good sleep. It was very nice to be greeted every morning by all the staffs from Chefs, Waiters ,Room Attendants , Porters they all had very beautiful smile making you feel like a Guest.
Restaurant food was a touch of class.
We had breakfast , lunch and dinner it was Superlicious . Seafood was the the best definitely recommend this.
Every where was clean quiet and peaceful thats what we needed from our busy life in London.
I will have to praise the Management of this hotel for making it heaven for holiday makers. The way the Management has trained their staff to deal with customers is absolutely perfect.
We love this place and we will definitely be making this hotel our First Choice for each year.A Very Big
Thanks to all Management Team , Kitchen , Bar , Restaurant and Housekeeping team even the cleaning team. The are all Superstars from heaven.
We will definitely see you again next year.
- 9arki (8/5): Breakfast buffet at Nick - We had a breakfast buffet at Nick and it was fairly decent. The kids enjoyed the buffet. The location is quiet and their staff courteous and helpful. They have a swimming pool close to the restaurant. Unfortunately the facility doesn’t have much view and it’s understood
- lewis894 (10/5): Amazing - The place has really changed since our visit last year. The food is so tasty, New Chef with new dishes. Loving the buffet, Friday Night BBQ is something to look forward for. The General Manager Nick always around making sure everything goes well.
Despite the renovations, the food and service has improved so much, the waiters are very attentive to details and always smiling.
Many thanks for the General Manager for the improvement, can`t wait to visit again!!!
- R2816NRians (6/5): Don’t go for a swim - Gyms pretty decent with more than enough machines. Breakfast is pretty decent with attentive staff. Rooms aren’t too hot and don’t even think about using the safe - it’s not even secured in. Smart looking pool and poolside bar in the brochures - no way will it be ready for use within the coming months it is currently a hole in the ground.
- kevinoO1712KA (10/5): Best place to eat in Tema - Amazing buffet, amazing choice.
New chef is producing some outstanding food, cannot eat enough!!!
Staff are very attentive and friendly.
This Hotel is improving all the time and I am currently enjoying my stay here.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Room was cleaned every day . Parking is easy. Staff friendly
- OpareRos (8/5): Family vacation - Beautiful atmosphere for families
We had a fantastic time, the pool was cool and neat. Food took a little longer but on the entirety of our visit it was nice.
Would definitely recommend it to friends and family.
- fredericg434 (6/5): Average service but high prices - Why are very average hotels in Ghana, like this one and others, so expensive? This is definitely an impediment to business and tourism that the authorities should address. Royal Nick is one of these fairly average places, with well worn out rooms and slow, unsmiling service, whether at the reception, bar, or restaurant. This being said, there is no major defect and it is probably one of very few choices in Tema anyway...
- AyoA802 (6/5): Clean hotel but bad services (laundry-delays, room service-zero) - Called repeatedly for laundry services but no one came until 2 hrs after. Called for Room service at 8pm and food was delivered at about 11pm (I was already sleeping). Buffet Restaurant services were sub-optimal; staff were fond of chatting in the restaurant and you have to go call them to get a drink or table water during meals. Meals were nothing to write home about. Their business center was also sub-optimal; no printer and Photocopier. I had to use the Front Office Printer and a copier located in a different place.
I rate them 3 star because the hotel is clean and quiet so you get a good sleep.
- jerryt105 (4/5): Security Issues - I have just had project management here tell me of an armed robbery at the hotel breakfast area early this morning. I doubt it will be in the media nor that hotel management will warn anyone. Be very careful there. They seriously need proper security for guests.
- jgarciaor (10/5): Good - Really surprissed, the best hotel you can find here.
Good restaurant, swiming pool, good internet, very good rooms with a king size bed!
Recepcion very great, people speaks english very well, and has a correct service.
In my opinnion can be better "the smile" of some workers... is difficult to see them smiling...
- EDGARP422 (10/5): Geat place to stay in Tema - Room was quite comfortable, air conditioning worked well, very clean with very few mosquitoes observed during my ten day stay. Food was very good, breakfast buffet included with a wide selection of items including omelettes. For those that gamble, a casino is a short two minute walk away. Very limited nearby shopping. The only problem I encountered was at checkout - the Visa machine treated payments as a cash advance, staff were not able to fix it.
- doganesdal (10/5): Perfect Servıce - Thıs hotel has amazıng facılıtıes wıth great attentıve staff members. I want to say specıal thanks to The General Manager Mr Dogukan for all hıs efforts to accommodate all my requests. Wıll be lookıng forward to comıng back to Royal Nıck Hotel ın future
- BJ (6/5): Tema stayover - I always stay at the RN. It is an average hotel. However the best hotel in Tema in my view.
- Emelia (6/5): - For the price not worth it, booked a deluxe suite and no mirror in the room had to call for maintenance, was not really happy that the place is let out for church program on a Sunday. I am all for church ⛪ just not sure Is ideal for a hotel. The foyer and entrance to hotel beautiful some improvements in the actual rooms will be great as well as fix the lifts.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Best in Tema, but restrain your expectations - The Royal Nick Hotel is the best hotel I've found in Tema after visiting Tema many times over the past 10 years. Unfortunately, by international standards it's not great. Don't rely on their free airport shuttle. In multiple visits, they've either failed to pick me up at the airport or failed to hold my return reservation. Have a back-up plan. The room I had was in decent condition. The bed was comfortable and bedding was clean. Furniture is comfortable but stained. Hot water was available, but in a first for me, the shower water was too hot with no way to cool it. It seems they fixed that during the subsequent days of my stay. Air conditioning and wifi were appreciated. Wifi can be slow during popular periods of the day. Live music in the courtyard penetrated my windows with ease. Their restaurant is the only food option. Buffet-style food has some variety, but is average to poor. There is no sightseeing to speak of in the are, nor shops or restaurants. Mostly a location for business associated with the nearby shipping and fishing ports. Like most people in Ghana, the staff are nice. They are responsive to problems but don't seem good at anticipating requirements or seeking to exceed guests' low expectations.
- Caitlin (6/5): Close to Tema port - Not many other options for hotels near Tema, but this one is clean and fairly comfortable. The staff are very kind and accommodating. Only about a 10-15 min drive to the port.
- FRANCIS (10/5): The hotel is neat and located in a quiet enviromen - Awesome experience.
- GEORGE (6/5): OK - Very friendly environment.
Too many mosquitos inside
- Portia (10/5): The hotel is very releyable - I had a very wonderful time,I loved the room and the facilities.
- brian (8/5): Nice hotel
Everything works ! - Recently stayed a hotel marjorie in tema but decided to pay more and stay at the royal nick. Stayed 5 nights and everything in the hotel was in working order which is a surprise for Ghana. Room was clean , pool was clean, grounds and lobby were well maintained.
Wifi worked well in room and lobby areas . Price is not a great value compared to other hotel in tema
- Turner (4/5): Royal Nick Tema Ghana - Overall, not a bad spot to stay if you have business in the nearby Tema area. Less expensive than Accra hotels.
- Steve (8/5): Great Location for Business in Tema - Generally a good hotel for Ghana. The bed was a little hard. It was unfortunate that the pool was undergoing maintainence during my stay, but this should mean a better pool going forward.
- Johnson (8/5): Ngood location, clean room, nice facilities. - I stayed there for 1 night. The staffs are quite kind and the facilities are good thant other hotels in Ghana. However the air conditioner was not working well. But staffs working in the bar didn't have a good mind to serve guests. They just were interested in money. I wanted to stop drinking beer and I asked them to refund the reminder of beers. But they told me strongly I couldn't refund it. That was the only bad thing I had.
