Delightful property and great staff - especially the 'older' gentleman managing the breakfast area! Reception personnel were exceptional - friendly and helpful! Castleisland is a very charming smaller town with many amenities and close to Killarney. Would recommend highly! The fact that we had to leave!

• Lise (10/5): Exceptional find and enjoyable stay. - Really lovely find of a hotel as we were travelling through Castleisland, it was comfortable, value for money and very central to the local facilities. The Hotel was beautifully clean and the room was extremely comfortable. What a stunning staircase within the hotel! Great breakfast Server in the morning as he gave us some fantastic ideas of where to go for the day - which gave us a fabulous experience. Would thoroughly recommend this hotel for a short stay. Had dinner in the restaurant which, was a little below par for me although my travel companion really enjoyed his steak - stated it was cooked to perfection. As it was out of season there were not a lot of options for food around other than fast food, although we found a little pub next door which was really friendly.

• Jenny (8/5): A mixed bag... - Friendly staff, great location, comfortable room, nice hot shower. We had dinner in the hotel dining room and the food was absolutely delicious. It was the best Shepherd's Pie I have ever eaten! After having such a delicious dinner the night before we had high expectations for breakfast. It was served buffet style which is fine but the food seemed to have been sitting in the Bain- Marie for a long time and was not very appetizing. The fried eggs were hard and the scrambled eggs were sitting in liquid. The coffee was so strong and bitter it was undrinkable. Very disappointing overall. On a positive note, the staff in the dining room were lovely.

• Eric (9/5): Charming - The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. We ate dinner at the restaurant there. Food was tasty, serve impeccable. This hotel lobby is grandiose. The fire alarm rang not once, but twice. Once at 6am, then again 6:15 am. UGH! Other than that, our stay was fine. I did have to ask for a hair dryer. It wasn't in the room.

• juliegO4232OA (10/5): Dinner in the river island - We enjoyed a birthday dinner in the river island. it was a really enjoyable experience from start to finish. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, making it a perfect place to relax and enjoy a meal. The staff were friendly, attentive, and made sure everything was just right without being intrusive. The food itself was excellent. The dishes were well presented, full of flavour, and clearly made with fresh ingredients. Each course arrived promptly and was cooked perfectly. You can tell the kitchen takes pride in the quality of what they serve. Overall, it was a fantastic dining experience. Between the great service, comfortable setting, and delicious food, I would definitely recommend the river island to anyone looking for a lovely meal. I’ll certainly be returning in the future.
• Resort36615245923 (10/5): Friendly yet Efficient Service; Delicious Food. - We enjoyed Sunday Lunch at the River Island Hotel to celebrate a family occasion and could not be happier with both the service and the food. We were a large party and despite the restaurant being busy when we arrived, we were seated promptly, our orders taken quickly and there was no delay in the arrival of the food or excessive waits between courses. The food itself was excellent. We would like to particularly commend our server Evan for his friendly and professional service and likewise Imelda who was so welcoming and particularly wonderful with the children in our party who she supplied with paper & crayons to entertain them.

Staff extremely friendly helpful and welcoming Only street parking available, although plenty of spaces available within 2 minutes walk from the hotel

• B5640VKsandran (10/5): Brilliant hotel - We had my son’s confirmation here last Thursday. Everything was absolutely excellent. The dining room was full but the service was absolutely outstanding. We couldn’t fault one thing. Adrain,Imelda and all the staff couldn’t do enough for everyone. A brilliant day had by adults and children. We had family members book into the hotel for the night also and they were very impressed with everything. Well done to everyone 👏👏
• noreeno950 (10/5): Restrant Staff - We recently had a confirmation party here. We had 20 people in our party and ate dinner that evening. There were many other large tables besides us. We were greeted with friendly smiles and total professionalism from the beginning of the evening to the end. The waiting staff took our order promptly and served all our food at the same time. The meals were piping hot and delicious. We were asked many times if we were OK and if we needed anything. The River Island organised a disco for the children after the meal to which both children and adults enjoyed immensely. They also kindly provided a beautifully decorated balloon back drop area to take photos. I would highly recommend this venue for a party or just going out for a quiet meal. The food is superb and the waiting and bar staff are both professional attentive and very friendly. Home away from home.

• Aoife (5/5): A nice hotel with a few areas for improvement - The hotel is quaint and has charm and is centrally located in Castleisland and the staff were very nice and friendly Breakfast was not up to standard for an Irish country hotel. Our room was nice but there was water leaking through the windows (admittedly it was raining very heavily) and the (small) double bed was a bit too small for two people.

The room was lovely and fresh when I walked in. Very clean and comfortable. Had tea and coffee facilities. Housekeeping were very obliging and helpful during my two-night stay. The staff in restraunt were very welcoming and accommodating and made sure to keep checking I was ok for everything. Did this with everyone. Had an evening meal one night, Brie and the Tempura Prawns, I recommend. Also breakfast the next day, loads to choose from and very tasty. Lunch/evening I had the Chicken and mushroom vol au vent for mains, very tasty. n/a

Breakfast is included in the price, but honestly I wouldn't bother. I tastes as if it's all pre-cooked and reheated. Yesterday morning I thought I'd try the porridge, worst bowl of porridge I've had in my life. Honestly, I've tasted better microwave porridge. May there's a problem with the chef! 🤔

There was also a good choice of fruit or cereals and a nice big pot of steaming tea or coffee. The shower in my room could have been warmer, but I am being picky here.

Then was able to walk down the street to a local pub for traditional Irish music. Fans in the rooms would have been nice since it was very warm that night. One of the windows was broken and won't open making it harder to sleep.
