Guest Reviews
- sairziebeanz (10/5): Best place we have stayed in Thailand - Best place we have stayed in Thailand. Baan Khao Sok is everything we wanted from our trip. Family run, beautiful surroundings, authentic treehouses, welcoming and relaxing.
The whole atmosphere here is amazing. You really feel like you're in the jungle yet still only a short walk to the town where there are lots of restaurants. Right on the riverside as well.
They helped us when our tour fell through and I hadn't realised I could have booked all my tours through them. Next time we will definitely go through them. They know the local providers and helped us to avoid a seemingly ethical elephant sanctuary which had been sold to us, instead helping to link us up with a genuinely ethical project run by locals.
We love the whole area and if/when return wouldn't hesitate to book here again.
- annemayhogeling29 (10/5): Only love for this place - Where to start! A unique stay in the treetops, comfortable room, beautiful surroundings and a small walk to the local village. Incredibly nice owners that really help you make the best of your tour. Sustainable stay- and activities and local support matters to them and that's clear. Loving the stay here
- AdamChodorowski (10/5): Nice experience in tree house - Very nice host helped us with all further arrangements. Magic place in the middle of jungle and 200m from main street with shops and restaurants. Highly recommended for short stay. One can feel like in jungle heaven when wake up.
- SA64592 (10/5): Fantastic location, wonderful hosts and a stunning spot in Khao sok - We’ve just left Baan Khao Sok after a fantastic action packed two night stay. I was so apprehensive when booking a trip to Khao Sok as there were so many places available and not knowing where the best areas were or if they would be okay for children (we have an 8 & 12 yr old). I ended up reserving 3 different places and then finally taking a chance on Baan Khao Sok and cancelling the other two when the free cancellation period was up!
I can tell you I made the right choice. It was absolutely fantastic. It’s a family run business and Polly made us feel so welcome. She organised the transfer from Phuket for us, all the trips and answered all my questions about where to eat! We were so close to all the activities and saw monkeys running around by the river in the first 10 minutes of arrival!
I can’t recommend this place enough. We did the tubbing down the river (great fun!), night safari (so many creatures, lizards, frogs, spiders, snakes and scorpions), one day day trip to the lake (beautiful) and the best thing of all the ethical Khao Sok elephant sanctuary (no bathing with elephants). I will write a separate review about that. The accommodation we stayed in was a tree house lodge with aircon. We spent all day out so really only used the place for showering and sleeping which was clean and had everything we needed. My son highly recommends the rope swing outside and his favourite part of the trip was swinging off it into the river!
- kaveh_nano (8/5): Nice hotel - Nice hotel in the jungle. Tree houses are a bit small but nice. There are some stores and restaurants near the hotel. The staff are nice and kind. You can book some tours at the reception when you arrive there. Breakfast is ok. For lunch and dinner you should go to restaurants near the hotel. Rooms don't have frigs. There is a boiler and coffe in the room.
- gos940 (10/5): Amazing time in the Jungle - wonderful place ! amazing atmosphere !
lovely owners, very helpful and polite.
Good breakfast and great location.
You can book in the reception all local trips ( lake trip 1-2 days, elephant…) and all the transfers.
- maciek198407 (10/5): Amazing - Huts on the trees 😊 Just next to the centre of Khao Sok. Amazing atmosphere. Bungalow with a tree in the middle of your bathroom. Very comfortable bed, hot water and a great feeling of seating on the tree. The owners are extremely nice and helpful, they can arrange your time and all the trips during your stay for a good price. Definitely a palace worth to stay.
- 291janet (10/5): Brilliant - Family run resort, Polly and her family were fantastic and helped us out with everything including activities and transfers. We are a family of 7 so had 3 A/C treehouses. The children loved it - breakfast was included. The treehouses were cosy and had everything we needed, bed, fridge, kettle etc. Fantastic stay in a beautiful setting.
- taraIreland (8/5): Fun!!! - Lovely family who run this resort. Rooms were fun ! Be prepared for the climb up!! Its a rainforest so bugs and rain to be expected. Breakfast area was lovely and very nice breakfast given, Staff were super nice and we really recommend doing the tubing tour they offer. Hairdryer and safe in room and small fridge. LOvely balconys on the rooms. If staying in Khao Sok we would recomend a stay here.
- ThomasNL85 (10/5): Excellent stay in a authentic tree house - Very rustic and nicely maintained tree house resort by the riverside. Owners were very kind and helpful in setting up tours and activities. The husband has a real love for nature and his excitement is contagious. We booked a day tour which was excellent but operated by someone else, and a trip to the nearby elephant sanctuary, which was owned by the family. Very entertaining trip with an extra sidetour to some coffee fields atop a nearby mountain.
- Sunshine65157860167 (10/5): Paradise - One of the best places we'we spent our holidays, visited many places but this is one of our favorite! Staff is very friendly and helps with pretty much everything and organize amazing trips to Chiew Larn Lake aswell, i can nothing but recommend this lovely place.
- MartinandKamil (10/5): Amazing place. great people - great place to hang out. super clean. family atmosphere
Everything super organized. You can not say a bad word. Perfectly well-kept garden. Silence. Calm.just come and enjoy the jungle. we recommend a 2-day trip to the lake with the best guide in the world
- simonefurnaru (10/5): Recommend 5* - We have been in the resort for 2 days and it has been a wonderful experince. The family who is managing the place are super kind and willing to help. The food is great as well. They arrange excursions all over the place.
- gerardpu (10/5): Lovely stay, quite comfortable - A small family run resort where one feels at home within minutes. Very friendly service, excellent food with the feel of home cooking and a really nice treehouse. We stayed in one of the airconditioned ones, which was probably worth the extra bit of money. Baan Khao Sok Resort is rightfully qualified as a budget resort but as there isn’t any accommodation above 3 stars in Khao Sok, we couldn’t have wished any better and recommend this place to everyone.
It was fun taking two of the tours they recommended during our two-night stay. Arrangements were really efficient and good value, especially the canoe trip along the river, past the resort. The guides are absolute masters in spotting wildlife, pointing out several snakes, birds, insects, monkeys (not hard to spot), lizards etc. Don’t miss out while you’re there.
- JK_UKexplorer (8/5): Quiet paradise up a tree - We spent two nights here and loved being up in the trees.
The owners were very friendly and helpful throughout our stay - and mortified that they hadn’t picked us up at the airport on our arrival (they thought we were arriving the next day!). Luckily one of the minibus drivers picking up other people from the airport knew them and phoned them up - arranging for a local taxi to pick us up after 30 mins.
On arrival the massage was in a parlour on the Main Street - just 300m away, we were given a lift there. Very nice.
We went on a walking tour in the park the next morning - to a waterfall (not particularly raging as the dry season). The guide was nice, but to be honest the path was so well maintained that, with all the other people walking it you could have done it without the guide.
In the afternoon we went on a lovely kayak trip down the river. Great scenery and very peaceful. Had to wait a bit for the pick-up at the end.
We only ate breakfast in the resort - it was nice as ate all our other meals out on the Main Street.
A lovely fun stay, only 4 stars because of the 2 or 3 times we had to wait. But, as I said the owners were mortified about that.
- Anandant (10/5): A river retreat in touristy place - A very nice place in a perfect, quiet localisation on the river bank, sunk in a beautiful garden. The staff extremally helpful and kind, arranging pick up and drop off and trips to every local attractions. The tree cottages very luxury and modern. Definitelly recommended for a stay in Khao Sok.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Rustic style tree house room with fuĺl bathroom and nice views over a beautiful garden. We took the airconditioned one but it wasn't necessary as the evenings where cool and nice. 10 minute walk to bars, restaurants and tour office operators. Overall a great stay in a very quiet and unique place with helpful and smily staff, including the property owners.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Pauly & her family are very welcoming, friendly, helpful and genuinely want to ensure your stay is pleasant. They also have a wonderful team of guides. Don't miss Cheow Lan Lake & Frog Island!
- AEB1990 (10/5): Magical Treehouse - Baan Khao Sok were so welcoming on arrival. The massages on arrival were amazing!
The treehouse was magical, with an outdoor shower, it was set in beautiful surroundings.
We ate at their restaurant on both evenings and each day the food was delicious, freshly cooked and full of flavour prawn tempura was my favourite!
A family run place, with great accommodation in stunning scenery, well worth a visit.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - I booked and confirmed an air conditioned room in December but when we arrived there were none available. The compensation was free breakfast. The room without AC was extremely HOT.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This is a fantastic quiet property in the jungle with extremely friendly owners who speak English and go out of their way to be helpful.
Terrific food and quiet restaurant on the river bank with monkeys.
- Mark (8/5): Tranquil - The property was tranquil just a short distance from the NP gates.
The location beside the river afforded the most amazing wildlife spotting whilst having breakfast.
Food was overall amazing but breakfast limited.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Friendly budget resort - We stayed at Baan Khao Sok for 3 nights in one of their bungalows. The accommodation was basic but comfortable. It is in rural Thailand so you adjust your expectations accordingly I would say.
Our bungalow had a small balcony and was big enough for the two of us.
The shower pressure wasn’t great but it did the job. The bathroom was basic, with a shower head on the wall above a tiled floor and the toilet next to you. The beds came with mosquito nets and blankets and were comfortable. The build of the bungalow meant it was well ventilated and there was a wall mounted fan facing the beds.
We paid a very low price because it was the middle of wet season and felt we got great value. The staff were super friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. The owners spoke good English.
- Alex (8/5): Just OK for one night - We only stayed here for 1 night and it was just OK. The room was quite spacious with 2 single beds and ensuite. It is, as you would suspect, very basic with the bathroom being practically outside, including some rather misplaced rocks which were randomly spread accros the bathroom floor. It was however quite clean, although there were quite a few mosquitos present due to the openings around the ceiling.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Perfect place and quite to relax with yourself.and a great local foods.
- Alma (10/5): A beautiful, relaxing resort - Had such a lovely stay at the Baan Khao Sok Resort. The staff cannot do enough for you, the rooms were spotless and the food was excellent. Would recommend this resort to anytime traveling to Khao Sok.
- Anderson (10/5): - Awesome resort! Located in a beautiful setting off the road and right on the river. The resort is beautiful, the treehouse rooms are very nice. We were surprised by how big our room was and how clean and comfortable it was. The owners are very helpful and great people. Would definitely recommend this resort to anyone.
- Amrid (10/5): Vriendelijk en behulpzaam! Gun factor aanwezig. - Zeer vriendelijk personeel. Alles goed uitgelegd.
We kregen informatie over de Tour.
- YUi YUi YUi (8/5):
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Room looked well and balcony is nice. Shower is outside. Staff didn't have much English but they were nice and friendly. Room is 7 min walk from main road. Very quiet resort.
- Richard (10/5): I wish I could have stayed longer - I was greeted with a warm welcome and a cold drink at this idyllic collection of tree houses by the river. The staff were very helpful with advice for walks, day trips and onward transport. The restaurant provided delicious food and was very popular. The room was clean and well presented with large comfortable bed and hot shower.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great garden and welcoming staff - Nice Bungalows and great location next to the river. The owner picked me up from the bus station and dropped me there after my stay. Booked a great trip to Khao Sok here where the hotel provides a dry bag and head lamp for free (usually 50 Baht rent each)
- susan (10/5): Jungle paradise! - Lovely stay. Very helpful family owners, will organise any tour, often more personalised than bigger tour groups. The restaurant also run by the same family, food excellent and very reasonably priced.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Unique stay - First time staying, unique experience.
Need upgrading in the bathroom facilities (flow of water is slow).
Great resturant and good food.
- Anne Mette (10/5): Good and beautiful location - Great location, you can walk from the bus stop.
Beautiful garden/jungle surroundings.
Good atmosphere and restaurants up on the main road.
We stayed in a treehouse which was a fun experience but maybe not worth the price.
Booked a great 2d1n with them.
Breakfast was very basic.
Very friendly and helpful staff.
- Nicolas (10/5): Six stars!! - We had an absolutely wonderful few days in Khao Sok whilst staying on a tree house here. The service was fantastic and the food was out of this world. I would thoroughly recommend this resort for any type of stay as the lovely family and team running the place are incredibly knowledgeable and accomodating.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice Stay - Great location and nice staff. Bungalow stay was fine for two nights. Food was good at the restaurant and the prices were similar to those in the village. If you arrive via bus or minivan, you can call their phone number which is listed on a big sign near the highway entrance for a free ride to the resort. Also received a free ride back to the highway. I booked the one day lake trip through the resort. Highly recommend this trip (1500B). Would certainly stay here again.
- Chris (10/5): Great place - It an amazing setting. Amazing natural surroundings.
The river is beautiful, great to swim in and you'll see all kinds of things just sitting beside it.
The family owners are awesome. Very welcoming.
I'd recommend this place again and again.
- leigh (10/5): - Great host very knowledgeable rustic cabins but it's a tree house so what do you expect
- hilary (8/5): Don't judge this place on first appearances. - The original Thai bungalows look a little worn from the tropical climate but inside was clean with very comfortable bed and pillows and good nets. This is a family run place where the owners speak excellent English and can advise on travel around the area and onwards.Very good value
- Jaclyn (10/5): Submerged in the rain forest - Did not stay long, because my host convinced me to take an amazing 2 day, 1 night trip through Khoa Sok National Park and stay in a floating bamboo hut. The room was simple and was somewhat open. A mosquito net was provided. It reminded my of the first time I slept in my tree house as a child. Just a tip, the jungle is loud at night, bring earplugs. In the morning, it was fun watching the monkeys play along side the stream, people kayaking, and tourists washing elephants while eating breakfast.
This Area is meant for outdoorsy people who can handle being dirty, wet, and surrounded by bugs.
- jessi (10/5): Best staff ever - It was unbelievable to witness all of the hard work of this family and staff
- Alison (10/5): stunningly beautiful - If you are going to Khao Sok then you must stay here, the family & staff really make your stay & you feel like you are staying with friends, the food is delicious so even though there are plenty of places within a short walk we only ate out once, sitting on the swing drinking my morning coffee next to the river watching monkeys play listening to gibbons call while meters away an elephant is having a bath is an experience I will never forget, the family there will always have a place in my heart :)
- Jacom (6/5): Different experince - Hotel room full of ants and with holes in the walls and mouldy walls. When you sleep you are scared that the tree house is gonna fall and brake. It was very different experiance and we eventually enjoyed it but is defiantly not for everyone, my mom cried the whole night and wanted to leave as soon as possible. Hosts are very friendly and offer nice trips!
- Paul (8/5): Great location and excellent value. - 4 nights 3 days to explore Khao Sok. This was a great base on a tight budget. The place is made by the lovely family who own it. Accomodation is very basic but overall very good value.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very nice people, willing to help you.
Good offers for activities, cheaper than neighbors but the same item.
- jin (2/5): Ants! - Ants and millipedes were everywhere. I had a 2 year old son and we had to take turns watching out for ants. It was horrible.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Staff was nice, food was good...woke up in the middle of the night with ants all over the bed...and there was no food in the room.
- Roger (10/5): It's like sleeping in the forest! A great stay. - My wife and I stayed 4 nights as part of our honeymoon. Thanks to the owner and family we found good deals on local tours as well as good advise for exploring on our own. They provided maps, tips and hints.
The cabins are perfectly basic - thatched roofs and grass mat walls, perfect. You feel like you are sleeping in the forest! Mosquito nets are provided but we saw ZERO mosquitoes during our stay?! The restaurant's food is incredible and well priced - you'll have no reason to eat elsewhere.
A wonderful stay.
- Renato Murillo (8/5): good bungalows and staff - this place is nice for me. the staff organization a good tours for you and have a good food. the bungalows is simple but it's enough. the place is really good for relaxing. I liked
- Colgan (8/5): Family run, very helpful - A very friendly family runs this resort, they're extremely helpful in arranging anything you need to see the park. It's also a short walk to one of the park entrances and restaurants. The bungalows are near the river and you can use it as a starting point for a tubing trip. My wife also like their curry so they volunteered to bring her in their kitchen and show her how to make it. Whats a great place, roughing it a bit but worth it.
- Christian (8/5): Jungle get-away - Great experience due to staff attitude and helpfulness. Be prepared for bugs and animal life when booking a treetop cabin, but nothing to worry about and super experience.
- Toai (6/5): Friendly and serviceminded staff - Only 1 downside with this booking was the non-existing complimentary breakfast eventhough it was stated in: "Amenity highlights: Guests can enjoy a complimentary breakfast each morning." We had to pay each morning! Otherwise we have only experienced a very friendly and serviceminded staff with good knowledge in English. Will definitely recommend this place.
- Rohit (8/5): Great jungle tree house resort - This is run by a small staff of 4 to 5 family members. This is a very homely resort and we really enjoyed the personal hospitality of the family that runs it. Its not very commercial and feels as if you are visiting a family in this area.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Friendly service - Very friendly service and helpful arranging tours. Bungalow room was perfect for us. No hot water but not really needed in this heat plus really can't complain, as the room was great value overall.
- Family of 5 (6/5): Camping in the jungle! - The tree houses look so cute and habitable from the photo's and from outside, but it is little more than a camping experience! You have all sorts of critters sharing with you from frogs, millipedes, slugs, ants and mice. The mosquito nets give a bit of security from the room mates, but even they are on their last legs! Plumbing also leaves a bit to be desired with a sewage smell coming from the sink. Overall and for the price we didn't expect much more so weren't surprised, just don't go expecting luxury! On the other side the gardens and setting were beautiful, the family that own it are so friendly and speak very good English so made all our bookings and were very helpful.
