• Eva (8/5): - Close to where we needed to go. The shower pressure was very strong. The toilet didnt flush properly.
• Sharon (3/5): disappointed - Close to where we were going TV could not work for us. Front door unable to be locked inside only a security chain. No plug in bathroom sink. Heater was broken unable to stand upright and did not use. Room was to dark 3 lights were not working No reception on arrival. Did not like to pay the 2 per cent additional fee for paying by credit card we use cash or epftos only.
• Victoria (3/5): Pay a bit more and stay somewhere else. - That the parking was free. Everything else. It was old and in need of a lot of work, lots of mold, broken window latches, huge scrapes in the wall, pool isn't available to use, the "kids playground" is nothing but a cobbled together swing that swings you into a bush! The walls were so thin you could hear everyone coming and going. There was no one on reception and when he did arrive wasn't very helpful.

• Irene (8/5): - It was very close to our venue The stove did not work and there were no oven trays to use the oven instead. There is hardly any staff around to enquire about anything. We were charged a full day rate for extending our stay to 5pm on the same day that we were leaving.

• Victoria (5/5): It was sufficient for overnight purposes but would likely avoid staying there again. - Room was clean enough and comfortable enough. Weird check-in system that we had read about in reviews - slightly better than what we had read. The person on reception had I don't know how else to describe it, but a little odd vibe. Didn't feel super safe there - felt sketchy. Despite pre-paying they insisted (I even got them to ring their manager) on taking another $100 deposit on my card-this wasn't a visa hold but a full payment. As we were leaving for a flight at 4am I was a bit suspect they wouldn't refund it but they did. Worse, my daughter noted, that when they took photos of my ID and credit card, they onshared them in a Whatsapp message, presumably to a manager, but this is horrible breach of privacy I have complained about.
• Janice (5/5): The room was comfortable and clean in a quiet section of the motel… just a shame about the TV - It was very quiet and clean The TV remote didn’t work and the staff tried to fix it but couldn’t… they said someone would fix it next morning but it wasn’t fixed..It was annoying not having the TV remote working..Room 9 so hope they sorted it before the next occupants..

• Michael (4/5): Memorable for the wrong reasons. - Location Building looked fine in the advertisement but was obviously neglected over recent times. Grounds and gardens a mess. Rubbish all around reception area. Staff member looked grubby, bare feet, and had obviously been asleep. Fridge rusting on the outside, bathroom in bad need of a redo.

• Phillippa (3/5): Terrible communication but not completely terrible stay. - Proximity to Westlake girls where we were attending and event Communication from the venue was zero before during and when leaving. My stay was in April. I booked in February and had messaged a few particular things we needed, like ground level, etc and no reply at all I called over 16 times between March and the week of the our stay in April no one ever answered. The day we were checking in, they hadn't attempted to take the payment, so I called 9 times before anyone answered, and he quickly took the payment + bond, which was not clearly stated before hand just terrible. And none of the photos were accurate. The whole place needs a really good clean , fresh paint, and maybe a friendly face and / or voiice which would improve the stay a whole lot and maybe a welcome.folder with rules and regs in the room there was old hard packets of complimentary sugar packets ans coffee etc The stay itself is not completely horrible, but gosh, it needs some love and some customer service.

• Shortland (7/5): Was ideal and close to the motorway, quiet and pleasant. - Pretty straightforward, staff were extremely helpful after locking ourselves outside the property and the pool was a big plus to our stay! Wouldn’t say I didn’t like it - the pool is not suitable for children who aren’t confident swimmers and the lack of air conditioning.

• Jamaine (10/5): Beautiful day - Day just went perfect for us, room had everything mentioned and the pool was great, had a deep end which my family and I love, and opposite the pool pictured is a small heated pool which was nice and relaxing, the closeness to town and the walk to kfc which is our favorite just made things perfect for us.

Basic stuff like lots of light bulbs blown, iron was broken, laundry room was a damp spider haven, gardens weedy, kids playground hasn't looked like photo in years. Missing a lot of basic cooking utensils motels usually have. Our unit was a bit dirty, but they did give it a good clean after we complained. Reception were hard to get hold of. Would've left, but Auckland was fully booked out.

• Emma (5/5): Comfy for a couple nights stay, not flash but had the basics - Beds were comfy. Pool was opened just needed cover removed was clean and deep and great place to cool off also had a spa. Was really concerned after reading poor reviewa but happy to confirm it was functional during our stay. The place itself is tired but for 2 nighta was comfy and had clean linin and rubbish was changed each day. Tv worked well the internet was alittle patchy but useable. Had a nice shower. Fan worked well to cool bedroom. Kitchen needed plug for sink. Walls could used deep clean few marks. Few more kitchen items like bowl and pot for cooking, a sharp knife. Pillows high so bring own for kids. Only 2 towels for 4 of us.

• Wilkinson (2/5): Very disappointing. - Location is very good. Reception is not attended so on arrival you have to call a number who then asks which hotel you are at. Not very welcoming. Eventually a person turns up to give you a key. Reception area is tired, dirty and stark. Room (No 14) carpet was stained, fitted duvet and duvet don’t have covers. both these duvet had various vile stains on them. Hotel did exchange them but the replacements were almost as bad. Bed was well used since we slid together into the middle ‘V’! None of the room and bathroom aluminium windows or balcony door closed properly (old and mis shaped). No bed head board. Overall, room was shabby and old, as was the access stair carpet. The TV didn’t work as described in the information folder.

• Porcia (1/5): PLACE NEEDS TO BE SHUT DOWN! - The location was convenient, but that's it. DISGUSTING! & HORRIBLE! This place, was by far the worst Motor Lodge/motel experience ive ever witnessed. Arrived at the property, to find knowone at reception, checked in, paid my bond, grabbed my key and proceeded to my room #17. When i first entered the room STUNK! So I opened all the doors & windows, curtains ect. I checked all the facilities were up to standard - firstly I opened the fridge & freezer and there was still left over food in there from the previous occupant. Eww. I opened the hot water cupboard which was located in the bathroom, and there was all sorts of clothes and belongings that had been in there for a very long time, They were covered in mites and dust. I sat on the bed, only to discover the bed sheets and blankets had stains all on them. I had family members come to see me, with my 2 year old niece, as I sat down on the couch, my niece went to grab something - IT WAS LIVE WIRES STICKING OUT FROM THE WALL!! There was still food stains on the dining table too!! It was absolutely horrific! I asked for a refund, I was offered another room, but if that room was like that, I expect the rest of the rooms would be just as bad.. this Motor lodge sucked, is disgusting and im going to lay official complaints.

Broken window latches! Someone else’s dirty stuff left in a cupboard and a socket hanging off the wall with loose wires. Staff who had to ring the owner to ask questions!!

• Samantha (6/5): Good value for money - I liked the location, it was very central, Woolworths right round the corner. The room had great storage and extra pillows & blankets. There was ample car parks in the motor lodge property. Fresh towels were provided everyday. Big fridge was a plus with a wee freezer inside as well. Wifi signal was poor and cut out several times. Was traveling for a competition, needed WiFi for communication, updates on competition times, etc. Shower had mould patches in a few areas. No staff in reception, when we arrived we were very confused, would of preferred knowing before or immediately after booking (ie in confirmation email).

Blocked toilet, cockroach on bedroom ceiling, rooms not cleaned, found rubbish in drawers (used tissues and masks). Cold showers in the morning. Poor communication. After having to put up with that they only gave us $50 off and a late check out of 11 am. We should not have been charged full price. Very disappointed, wouldn't recommend this motor lodge to anyone. Still think we should have been reimbursed at least half of what we paid.

Took half an hour to check in to staff on-site was done through phone. Credit card was charged on day 1 booking in and would not give gst receipt until we had checked out.

• Hannah (5/5): This place is obviously run on a shoestring. Comfort is not a top priority. - The unit was large enough for us Ants in the carpet. No air con, not enough towels, or too many towels and no face cloths. Everything was in a state of disrepair, curtains , blinds. Fire alarms were beeping because the batteries needed changed. Nobody man’s the reception. You have to ring. The spa had an upright pole in the middle of it that didn’t show under water and my son hurt himself.

• ricky (5/5): Initially felt like running, had already paid so stayed in out and was ok. - Others staying in rooms around us were friendly and lots of parking Arrival gave a dodgy vibe from the start, self check in, no one man’s office. Things broken and falling off walls in bathroom, not enough cups in kitchen, looked dirty, window latches broken, unkept grounds and rooms.

Dirty sheets, dirty towels, cockroaches, dirty kitchen utensils, pots and pans dangerous power points no smoke alarms which is illegal no vents leaking shower base unfriendly hotel manager.
• Lynda (5/5): We had a good holiday and got to where we needed to go. - Loved where it is. Beds and linen were great. Room very hot. The front door handle and lock are a safety Hassard and would be a danger there was a fire as VERY difficult to get out of the door. This has been the same for our last 3 visits over 3 years. Also fire alarm was beeping as battery needed replacing. I left it on the kitchen bench to be replaced and rang about this, but NOT done. There were not enough dish washer tabs and had to call for some. But very happy with nice clean linen and clean towels every day..... great

• Perrett (9/5): Great spot - Stayed in a room with seaview, was worth the little extra price, especially as we stayed over New Years Eve, so were able to watch all the happenings from the balcony! Great location, walk to grocery store, beach, etc Internet kept dropping in and out while there - I don't think that's normal for there though?
• Carla (1/5): - Very little. There were a number of issues but to the credit of Manager (who was not easy to get hold of) they did rectify some of the basic faults. The kitchen was greasy, the bed was very very hard, no jug in the kitchen, no tv remote, a few of the units had no hot water. Someone tried to break into our room. Despite advising on the sign there was vacancy they refused to provide an alternative room or look at any footage ( I suspect the camera was for show). I sent an email and never received a response.

Noone at reception, a cleaner helped ring someone who was very aggressive towards her on the phone, before being quite blunt with me on speaker phone. The cleaner helped us get our key. The wifi was intermittent in terms of signal, and very poor strength. Wasn't usable, not good. Towels were only changed twice in a 6 day stay, no toilet paper resupplied. Everything felt tired and needed some love - no care.

Window latches broken. Towel rail broken. there was a replacement sitting on top of wardrobe - not rehung. No smoke alarm. Freezer compartment was frosted over and would not freeze what was put inside. Pools out of action. Driving in, seemed run down.

• Guest (1/5): Don’t stay here! - Stay here at your peril! This stay was a disaster from the moment we checked it. We had booked 3 rooms amongst 2 couples and 1 single and they stuffed up booking 3 single rooms. The rooms had cockroaches in them and scratches and dents above the beds in 2 of the rooms. There was a large young tribe of a family staying in a number of rooms and they fought, yelling and screaming and running up and down the stairs and around the Motel for hours. It was very intimidating and 2 couples left and drove home. We couldn’t get hold of anyone at the Motel to complain. The pool area was gross and it’s not close to anything. I will be expecting a refund. Worst experience ever!
