Guest Reviews
- Rashy (10/5): - Staff is absoulutley phenominal. So kind and caring.
- Carter (8/5): - The rooms are comfortable, the property scenic, and the staff exceedingly accomrodatting.
My only suggestion for how they could improve the experience for the guests: housekeeping comes in the late afternoon, the time when most guests are wanting to relax in their rooms before going out for the evening.
There was one issue with cleanliness that I addressed directly with staff.
- ulrike (8/5): - Special thanks to Nok Nok and Mey for the great hospitality.
- Ute (10/5): - The staff‘s friendliness was extraordinary. They were so attentive. In the afternoons we got little snacks and they bought coconuts for us. Thank you so much May and Noknok! You made our stay very special!
We stayed 10 days in Khao Sok and loved it. The resort is quiet, the pool mostly empty and the trips to the national park unforgettable.
The cabins are a little rustic, but guarantee you privacy.
Thank you for this special time!
- Laura (6/5): - Fantastic location and beautiful scenery. Staff very accommodating; couldn’t do more for us! Unfortunately, the bed sheets and pillows were stained in 4 different places. Looked like coffee and makeup. Reception not 24/7 so couldn’t contact as it was later after dinner. Made for an unpleasurable sleep.
- JC (10/5): Great spot! - Just exceptional staff, spoke great English, made it easy to book different excursions. Go check out Cheow Lan Lake for sure. Room was clean, they gave free snacks, A/C worked very well. Beautiful pool. Really close to the village and restaurants, only a 5 min walk. Highly recommend it.
- Ellen (10/5): - The views from the hotel were superb and the hotel was clean and well presented. The staff were super helpful, and friendly!
- Larry (6/5): - The property itself is quite nice and the location at the edge of town makes it convenient for walking while being quiet. We stayed in the original buildings which were clean, but a little tired, the bungalows looked nice but we did not see it. We were only in and out for 2 nights and only there to sleep - it was clean. A solid 3 star hotel, but once you've been to this area - I don't see a reason to go back
- luke (10/5): - Great place to stay , very quiet and only a short walk into the village .
The staff are fantastic and very thoughtful .
- Grazia (10/5): - This property is so unique. The atmosphere is very peaceful . The staff are exceptional. May at front desk organised all details for our next stop. Somme, the chef of all chefs cooked many delicious meals for us. She also makes afternoon tea and cake delivered to your room or pool. All wonderful.
- Michael (10/5): Amazing staff! Great value, stage for lake trip - Amazing staff!!! Everyone there especially front desk and tours went above and beyond to be friendly, helpful, and just plain awesome. Expressed genuine concern for medical conditions when booking the overnight lake tour and private transfer afterwards, even going so far as to suggest a shorter and less expensive package. They even gave me the location of another tour office/hotel that might have something better (they didn’t) And when I insisted I would be fine with the overnight they called to make sure the hours for electricity on the lake would be suitable. They arranged a transfer to Phuket to meet me at the lake and bring my large luggage so I wouldn’t have to go back to the hotel 1 hr to get it.
The food at the hotel was excellent. The accommodations for the price were good. You are in the middle of the forest so as long as you aren’t expecting city luxury you’ll be happy. Some noise from the rain forest at night but that’s going to be everywhere. They had a nice pool area and are constructing more cabins.
- Lyndsey (10/5): - Staff was very friendly and accommodating. May was always smiling and took very good care of our needs. The room was very rustic but probably one of the nicest for the area. Breakfast was fresh and awesome every morning! Would definitely recommend!
- Verified traveler (10/5): A gem in the rainforest - The location was great just outside of the main village with forest views and the accommodation was traditional and comfortable. Note there is some building work underway but we were only there one night so didn’t disturb us.
The staff were lovely, bringing us afternoon tea on our veranda and helping us book a fabulous lake tour.
Would definitely recommend.
- andrea (10/5): - The staff was exceptional! They were really helpful with any questions and made sure we had everything we needed during our stay. The location was perfect for us. We were able go walk through all the restaurants and down to the national park entrances within 15mins. The staff helped organize a canoe tour even though it was pouring rain which really made our day considering it was nonstop raining for the past 48hours. Luckily midway through our tour the sun started to peak out. 10/10 recommend. The AC was directed to our bed which was a little uncomfortable but the restroom and room its self was fully stocked and tidy. Again, the staff really went above and beyond so if we decide to return this is the place we are staying at!
- John (10/5): Wonderful - Had a wonderful time here. The rustic bungalows have a special charm and you can see they go out of their way to make the experience enjoyable. Shout out to Nok Nok the manager, who brought us tea and Thai snacks and who always greeted us with a friendly smile. The grounds are beautiful and the views from the cabins are incredible. Its close enough to town that you can walk to all the shops and restaurants, national park entrance etc, but also far enough to enjoy the quiet and solitude. Highly recommend
- Daryl (10/5): - Very friendly and nice atmosphere.
- Sabrina (10/5): - Staff was unbelievably friendly and helpful. Breakfast was great! Appeared to be family run and they arranged all of our transfers by email. When we went on our longtail boat lake tour(excellent)they arranged it and provided towels, waterproof bags and headlamps. Little town within walking distance had great food and even a place to get a latte. We did not want to leave.
- Jean (10/5): Exceptional - We would recommend staying at this accommodation wholeheartedly.
The staff and management are the best and friendliest we have experienced in all of our travels around Thailand.
Nok Nok ( hope that is the correct spelling!) went above and beyond providing a knowledgable, helpful and personal advice.
We were sad to leave and would return in a heartbeat.
- Anna (10/5): - I can’t even begin to describe how perfect this hotel was! The staff was INCREDIBLE, especially madame Mae who went above and beyond to arrange tours and shuttles for us. At one point the staff even brought us afternoon tea. Perfectly located next to the park. Above and beyond my expeditions. If you are going to Khao Sok, you should definitely look into montania!
- Sharon van (10/5): - Montania is located in the rain forest but has all the comforts. The airconditioning is excellent, the beds are very comfortable and the traditional cottages are quaint and exceptionally neat and clean. The staff are most welcoming and go out of their way to make your stay comfortable. Breakfast was a highlight with the food being of top quality and great variety. Loved the fresh fruit and banana pancakes. The tours were easy to organise at short notice, however, we weren't pressurised i to taking tours. Waterproof bags, torches and towels were supplied for our trip to the lake. I had very high hopes for our trip to Khao Sok, and Montania made it a reality. Thank you!
- Patricia (10/5): - The cabins were very comfortable and clean. The setting is beautiful. The staff were so kind and attentive.
- Ian (10/5): A little gem - 1 night only stay but we loved it. It’s not a high end property like we are used to but this was great. Quite traditional cottage style rooms which were clean and comfortable set amongst beautiful surroundings. Service was excellent - the staff could not do enough for us and were delightful and super friendly.
- Valerie (10/5): - We had a wonderful stay at Montania. The hotel itself has a beautiful view and the owner is one of the friendliest and most helpful persons I've ever met. She really did everything she could to ensure all our wishes would get fulfilled. I will definitely come back again! :)
- Carl (10/5): - The owner and staff were VERY nice, attentive and helpful
Customer service at its finest!
- Anthony (10/5): Authentic Thai experience - I was pleasantly surprised with the wonderful service we received during Covid times with very few tourists around. We stayed in a traditional style Thai bungalow which was very clean and comfortable. What impressed me most was the special attention given by the staff. Everyday there would be a new surprise/treat. The swimming pool was welcome as this was the hottest time of the year.
- nicholas (10/5): Great for the area - When you arrive you’re greeted with friendly staff that helps unload and carry your bags to your room. Nuk Nuk was very caring and friendly who also cooked for us and brought snacks to the room. There’s a nice mountain view near the pool and the room is also nice near the wood area which is peaceful at night
- Ky (8/5): - The room was big enough but no table or chairs to put things on or sit on. Very inconvenient. You can only rest on bed. The lights in the room and bathroom were not bright enough to see or read things.
The staffs were nice and very helpful.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - All of the staff were so kind and accommodating. They really went above and beyond to make sure all of our travel needs were met (transfer to and fro, massages, arranging for our driver to go to a local market without extra costs etc). Montania Hotel is truly a hidden gem in Khao Sok and Nok Nok was so kind and friendly
- Yoav (8/5): Lovely cute bungalows in the nature - This all area is great for people who love nature, many animals, insects, flowers and more.. so if you are not into that - maybe its not for you..
The Bungalow was nice, hot shower, mosquitos net at the windows, nice pool and nice simple breakfast.
We had diner which was good to.
If you come for a few days - some of the touristy activities you can do by yourself better then with a guide tour - specially the lake tour..
Be aware there is a chance for some quick heavy rains while you stay at this whole area.
- Lama (6/5): - The hotel is good , one of the good place to be at the heart of the jungle! Personally didn’t like the area. It’s scary especially at rainy nights
- Tony (10/5): Peaceful resort with great staff - Great location, peaceful and scenic. Staff were excellent - we booked 2 tours through the front desk, they explained everything that we would do thoroughly. Very friendly and helpful. Short walk to other restaurants. Food in hotel was good. Accomodation was in the form of cabins - they were fine -3* standard. Surroundings, location and staff were the main attractions. Would definately recommend.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Charming - We booked a Thai Boutique chalet for 2 nights. The room was clean and comfortable, although it afforded little natural light. The furnished front veranda was a nice addition, with a great view of the pool and mountains. Easy walking distance to restaurants, but the resorts' restaurant is good and we ate breakfast and one dinner there. This place has a very authentic feel, the view is lovely, but perhaps best of all, the staff offer such friendly and warm service - a very welcoming place to stay! Highly recommend.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We stayed here for two nights while visiting Khao Sok and wish we could have stayed for longer. The hotel is set in a beautiful location, and the pool and views are stunning. The staff was incredibly kind and accommodating, and were frequently checking in with us to make sure that everything was okay. The breakfast buffet was good and had some great options to choose from. The rooms were clean and the air conditioning worked very well (which is a lifesaver in HOT Khao Sok). I highly recommend this hotel!!
- James (10/5): Montania - a Khao Sok treat - Fantastic! From the moment we stepped in the resort to the moment we had to leave! There personal touch really sets it apart.
We stayed one night and would expect no great fanfare for a one night stay but the service was great. Help was at hand whenever requested.
We booked into a chalet but due to booking complications the rooms was already booked, but honesty was key and we were reimbursed the difference to the standard room, which still had a great view of the pool and limestone cliffs.
We booked a tour for the overnight stay on the lake which was fantastic and a must! And even though we were staying in another hotel nearby on return they transferred us to the new hotel round the corner with complete ease for us.
Overall a fantastic stay at Montania and would highly recommend staying at this hotel.
- ozdigennaro (10/5): - View to kill for. The three limestone beasts that hang on the southern horizon make every day better. From the misty mornings to the cool evenings.
I loved the wooden walkways among the cabins.
Staff was impeccable and everything went smoothly.
Not for the faint of heart: the all-day trek in the National Park - see the waterfalls (in dry season, really pools and rapids, except for number One). Do not fear, in the dry season No Leeches. Lots of monkeys. We saw troops of Dusky Lemur and long-tailed Macawe.
You can walk from the hotel into the restaurant area and Make The Scene. Young flashpackers wandering the streets wondering what to do next.
Swimming pool very nice, set with views of the beasts.
Great Thai massages.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Everything was great.. except for BEDBUGS! - Everything was great, stay was great and service was good.. not until we realized the room we stayed was infested with BEDBUGS!!! We checked out and left the facility before the bedbugs symptoms appear (the next day we arrived home) so it was a regret we not able to inform the hotel management onsite. both me and my friend who stayed in the same room experienced the same problem. The bites were not just at 1 or 2 sites, but all over our both arms and legs which showed how badly infested the hotel room was.. hope the hotel management is able to have a thorough cleaning at the rooms to clear the bugs before they cause further troubles to other guests.
- Rhona (10/5): Quaint hotel set in amazing scenery. - We stayed here at the start of a visit to Khao Sok Lake National Park. We only stayed one night before a tour we’d already arranged but wished we’d had longer. Our room was a quaint teak hut in the grounds, not huge but big enough for 2. The food served here is lovely and the staff were so welcoming. There was a lovely swimming pool right outside our room, set in amazing scenery. The only downside was building works going on right behind the pool which I suspect will last a good few months more yet which spoiled our peaceful afternoon more than a bit.
- David (8/5): - Nice hotel in Khaosok. The staff was so helpful and accommodating with our travel plans.
- Yaron (10/5): - Staff food, tour
Good price
And mr A. It is a very nice guy
- JOSHUA (10/5): Won't stay anywhere else on our return trip - The only reason I rated the room comfortably a 4 instead of a 5 is that your unable to have the AC running while you are gone. I know this seems like a waste but during the hot season after an 8 hour hike a chilled room would have been very nice.
The hotel staff were amazing, the food was great and they have a lot of fun activities you can book right through the hotel staff.
- Kamil (4/5): Lepiej omijać - Daleko od parku narodowego i daleko od miasteczka. W pokojach nie ma internetu. Basen brzydki i nikt go nie używa. Jedyny plus: smaczne śniadania. Cena nieadekwatna do jakości.
- Paul (10/5): Amazing veiw! - Loved everything about this place! Beautiful surroundings and very peaceful. Tours were awesome and the staff takes care of everything!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great hotel, with lovely views! Wish we had longer
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Beautiful place in a great location very friendly staff good breakfast clean rooms nice pool would highly recommend
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Fantastic stay. We thought the food was great and the staff was very friendly and helpful. It was a very relaxing resort. The only downside is that the tours are a bit pricey but they are well worth it.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Reasonable Value - Limited facilities and fairly basic room (with air con).
No hairdryer and limited TV channels.
Reasonable value for the price.
- andres (10/5): - Amazing place with great food and access to all the local attractions. Highly recommended
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice hotel and friendly staff - Awesome .nature surroundings
Privacy .good for relaxing. Very nice owner and staff.Good breakfast.
- Rob & Karen (2/5): Closed down - These guys took our booking and our money but the resort is derelict and no longer operating. There were 2 staff with little or no English that were surprised to say the least that we turned up. Baanmai needs to be taken off the Wotif data base.
- Holly (2/5): A gem that needs serious polishing... - We arrived at the hotel and the man that greeted us expressed surprise that we were there. In fairness we booked last minute however, we were traveling with a friend who is Thai and the man said to him in Thai that he was surprised because no one comes anymore. The room had to be made ready and when we went in there was garbage still around and the toilets had not been cleaned. I also asked about breakfast since we were told it was included and were charged an additional fee. The man informed us there was no kitchen and he wasn't sure what to tell us about getting reimbursed.
The place had not been kept up, walk ways were rotted through, vegetation was overgrown, buildings crumbling (looked like a ghost town) but, the view was beautiful and other than not being cleaned the rooms were pretty. However you can stay somewhere significantly less expensive and get more for your money in this area.
When we left there was no staff around nor did they return our entire stay. Very odd.
