- Manabu (8/5): - 6
- Verified traveler (4/5): -
- Verified traveler (8/5): - wifi
- Verified traveler (8/5):
- Verified traveler (10/5): -
- Verified traveler (8/5): -
- Verified traveler (10/5): -
- Verified traveler (10/5): -
- CHIH-WEI (10/5): - Good!
- Verified traveler (4/5):
- eduardo (2/5): Smoky hotel - The smoke of cigarette is extremly strong you can hardly breathe and the shower rooms gives u a strong headacche of the strong chemicals they use to stirilize . The capsule experience its cool the thing that really put me absolutely off is that people smoke inside.
- Verified traveler (6/5): !
- Jeffrey (8/5): Cool place, great price. Neat experience. - This is a traditional Japanese capsule hotel. Most of the guests there are Japanese locals. Besides myself, I didn't see any foreigners. The staff there were quite friendly. Though they didn't speak much English. It was a neat experience staying there. You don't wear shoes inside. When you go in you put them in a locker and you can either wear slippers, go barefoot or in socks. They don't have showers. Instead it's a communal bath area where you get a little plastic stool to sit on and have a showerhead on the end of a hose. Soap, shampoo, disposable razors etc. are included. They give you towels and a robe and shorts. Most of the guests wear these whenever they're inside. There's a sitting area with vending machines and tables and a TV wear a lot of guys hang out. The area is a bit seedy (which may or may not suit you). I happen to think it was colourful. There are a lot of bars and restaurants and other entertainment establishments in the immediate area. The capsule itself was perfectly fine as far as I was concerned. Bring ear plugs just in case you get a lot of snorers in your section. I didn't have a problem with noise. Note: The men's hotel is on the second floor. There is a ladies only version of this hotel on street level.
- Verified traveler (6/5):
- Verified traveler (8/5):
- joy (6/5): Medium - Staffs nice...can keep luggage before checkin but not checkout...my capsule is non smoking, but I can find smoking mark in my capsule...hotel located in red light area...not good but according the price in Shinjuku, not bad
- Hiroshi (6/5): Good!
- Nick (4/5): Decent for what it is - Having never stayed in a capsule before I can't compare experiences, however my stay at shinjuku 510 was mixed. The staff were friendly and helpful, the building and capsules old but clean. The capsules old use a curtain which meant the noise of people coming and going could be an issue. Overall a decent place if this is what you're looking for.
- Christopher C (6/5): be careful - all and all the stay was okay, however the address listed is nowhere near to the actual site of the hotel I wandered around for maybe 30 minutes before I was able to stumble upon the actual hotel and I only recognize did you to some of the pictures that have been posted on hotels.com.besides that side checking in with the reservation was very easy checking out was extremely easy as well, the location isn't that bad.I wouldn't say I would recommend this to friends and family, but if I needed to stay the night in Shinjuku again I wouldn't have a problem staying here.
- fred (6/5): - Everything seemed OK for the money , but the front desk not helpful
- Bob (8/5): Shinjuku Capsule 510 - Pleasantly surprised with this establishment. Clean and comfortable.
- Stu (6/5): good location capsule hotel - Its a capsule hotel, period. Good location.
Hard to find as map location is wrong. Best to ask at Shinjuku station information booth. Google-ing addresses usually wrong in Japan - weird system. Look for green trim of building.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Everything you could expect for the price. Area isnt too busy, but very close to bustling Shinjuku. Convenient. They did not speak much english at all but were very friendly/accommodating to a Westerner. Only issue was first night my capsule did not have working light, they offered to move me, but I declined since i was going directly to bed, they fixed it the next day. Breakfast is good and cheap. Wifi was a little spotty at times. Almost everyone staying was a Japanese businessman. Very authentic.
- Roger (2/5): Not worth the money - I have stayed many times in Japan, and many capsule hotel, but this is by far the worst i have stayed in. Unless you are a smoker and want to passively smoke your entire stay, then avoid. I got woken up by the cigarette smoke it was so bad, and i was on a non smoking floor. So bad after 3 hours of checking in i gave up my 2 nights accommodation, even they would not give any refund. Facilities were ok, but nothing more. Quite run down place. Location near Shinjuku is actually really good, but it took me over an hour to find the place. All the locations on internet for this place are incorrect. Do not look it up on google maps as it's incorrectly located. Was a nightmare to find. I've travelled over 6 weeks in Japan and this was by far the worst stay I had. I dont normally post a bad review, but its only fair to other travellers I share my experience. Be warned.
- Stefan (6/5): Ok - You can get better for the price elsewhere but this one is right in Shinjuku. 10 minutes walk from Shinjuku East, some English speaking staff, good internet and a clean capsule. They got safety boxes where you can deposit all your valuables you don't need during the day for free. Good Japanese breakfast is offered in the morning for fair price. Only Japanese style showers that means you shower in a room with all the other guys sitting on some plastic pot but for me it was alright. Summary: if you want a place to sleep for cheap in Shinjuku red light district that's your place.. Overall it was good!
- Afif Hanifah (8/5): Great place to stay - Affordable. Good location. Easily to reach. Close to subway station. A lot of choices for restaurant and entertainment.
- Christian (6/5): ok - It was a ok stay. I got what I needed and that was a bed.
- Tom B (8/5): Typical capsule hotel - Enjoyed my stay in a capsule. The capsules are getting old, but they sure do their job. The location is quite central and the staff is helpful to the degree they can!
- Verified traveler (2/5): Got totally ripped off - I booked this place for my son who had 1 night in Tokyo. Firstly I booked him in the wrong night - a day before he was due to arrive. No problem I thought I'll just book again for the next night and didn't worry about cancelling the initial booking as they don't give a refund anyway. My son arrived and spoke to the desk clerk, she claimed that there was no booking made for him for that day and she had no knowledge of him. This was clearly a lie as she then went on to ask him "didn't you have a booking for last night'? His iphone had stopped working so was unable to show her the booking confirmation and she demanded he pay cash if he wanted to stay there(pretty sure that money would've gone straight in her pocket) and then went on to tell him he couldn't get access until 4pm! It clearly stated on the hotel information that they had a 24 hour check in policy!
Anyway he was very tired and went ahead and paid the money so he could stay there although he had to wander around the streets of Tokyo for hours until 4pm. Basically a dishonest person on reception and now I am out of pocket for a nights accomodation which I have no way of ever getting back. A good example of making sure you have booking numbers with you at all times.
- NobuM (8/5): good stay and good price - This hotel is a capsule hotel, so if you know what you are getting into, this hotel is a good value. This capsule hotel is a bit dated, but it has a public bath/sauna, resting lounge, cafeteria space (breakfast is about $6) and locker space. The locker space is narrow, so usual carry-on suitcase will probably not fit, but the hotel front desk can keep the bag safe in their office. If you have an extended stay, they have a storage location (it seems less secure) behind the public resting lounge. Public toilet (dorm style) provides enough privacy and has basic toiletry, such as razor and toothbrush. Overall, this capsule is a solid value if you do not mind hearing people outside of the capsule (there is only a blind to separate between the capsule and the hallway) and if you do not mind a small space with occasional loud laughters from the neighbor's capsule.
- Brett Jensen (8/5): Cool experience and great value - This was really well set up. I wish other cities had these. The staff was super nice as well, even though English wasn't spoken.
- Thomas (8/5): Great Cheap Stay!! - It comes down to what you look for in a hotel. This is a capsule hotel, not a luxury. Very traditional Japanese. For multiple night stays, you will have to check out each day (for cleaning), but the staff will hold your bags until you check back in. Excellent service, even without being able to speak Japanese, employees did everything they could to help me. Beds were comfortable and quiet, 15 channels of cable, good internet in the beds. Traditional Japanese bath. Excellent location 1 block from all your entertainment needs. If you are just looking for a cheap place to lay your head while seeing the city, this is it.
- Russ (8/5): Great experience - Different but well worth experiencing. Capsule was comfortable and clean and not too much noise from other guests. Quarter of the price of anything else around so great for those on a budget. Even if not you have to try it just for the experience.
- Verified traveler (8/5): En-capsule-ated - I thought this place was weird but great, my first time in a capsule hotel. The bathing area is communal, replete with sauna, hot and cold pools, and sit down showers. Free Wi-Fi.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Good value - Good place to stay for a small budget
- Non (6/5): An old-fashioned capsule hotel in a great location - This is an old-fashioned capsule hotel, which is located right in the heart of Shinjuku. It's very convenient to get there from the Tokyo metro (subway) as well as other train stations. There're tons of bars and convenient stores around the area, as well as shopping malls, and batting range! I wasn't 100% satisfied with the condition of the hotel as it's quite old (so, the locker, the floor, the table, and basic amenities make sound when you use them), although my personal capsule was absolutely clean and nice. The bathroom was big and nice. The other thing is that the smoking and non-smoking areas are not completely separated, so you could smell the cigarette anywhere in the building (I was fine with that when I was a smoker myself, but now it's quite difficult to deal with).
- Verified traveler (10/5): Go for the price but stay for the baths. - First time staying in a capsule hotel and the experience was great, especially the Japanese style bathing room. I was timid at first but after trying it, it was incredibly enjoyable. If you are someone who requires your own personal space either step out of your comfort zone or go somewhere else. But for what you get, in this location, for the price, it really is unbeatable. Highly recommend, just be prepared to deal with other people and their customs and you will be totally fine.
