Guest Reviews
- Suzanne (9/5): - Location. Receptionist Refridgerator doesn’t work very well
- Bao (10/5): - Nice clean hotel, great remodeled bathroom, great customer service
- EVE V (10/5): - Staff were great. Room was clean and comfy.
- V5026DQseant (6/5): Clean, trendy, convenient, but very poorly managed - We had the entire hotel booked for our group ski trip. Because there is not much nightlife at Sugarbush, we had been promised that the Black Sheep Bar at the hotel would be open for us on Friday -up until 10pm and maybe later and also Saturday night. The hotel knew we were arriving closer to 10pm. At 9:30pm when we arrived, the bar was closed. They made a staffing excuse and promised it would be open tomorrow. OK we thought.....until Saturday when they suddenly told us they were refusing to open the bar again with the same flimsy excuse! The hotel nightlife was a big part of our trip and the dishonesty/inability to deliver is something everyone should be aware when considering this option, and avoid if that is important to you. Rooms were Instagram nice but very small, noise carried. Decent location and the breakfast bar was very good. A real mixed experience....but them leaving us high and dry not once but twice is what sticks with us....
- Stephen (7/5): Okay not great - Staff were friendly - location - using the GVMS bus to get to and from both mountains was easy - stop right in front of the property. Renovated (not sure when) but still old and tired - also floors and doors not soundproofed so can hear everything - heavy footsteps, people in the hall etc.
- Stephen (10/5): - Great stay
- Susan (5/5): Ok comfortable except very noisy and staff unfriendly - Was very pretty nicely decorated My room was on the bottom floor could hear everyone above me and woke me up. The worst thing was the directions put me on a dangerous mountain road and found previously people have been in accidents due to this and the manager says nothing she can do to change the directions. This road is not to be passed during winter months extremely dangerous!!
- Kathleen (8/5): Very good -
- Cynthia (2/5): Very poor -
- Francesca (10/5): - Great staff! Made us feel very comfortable and welcomed. Clean room with the cutest decor!
- Cathleen (10/5): - Beautiful property and lodge.
- Renee (10/5): - Great place close to everything
- Barbara (4/5): Could be a super place with some adjustments. - Cute decor. Very Nordic. Clean. No heat. Booking.com has the wrong address so confusing to find the place. Staff have incorrect information about local restaurants. That sent us on a wild goose chase in the dark.
- Mark (10/5): - Great place, friendly staff. Stayed while on a road trip. Might be different during ski season, but limited food options near by, 2 places. It more options this place would be solid.
- Christine (6/5): - No sound deadening. Sounded like there was an elephant pounding around above us. Matresses were terrible
- Jaclyn (8/5): - Nice room, comfortable beds, clean large shower. Downsides were we needed to leave earlier than 8am and had to go to the nearby hotel to check out. The door was open/unlocked when we arrived which was a little concerning and the top of the door didn’t close fully, leaving a gap. The biggest downside was the noise. Walls and floors very thin - I heard every person walking down the hall outside the room into the late hours of night and every step of whoever was in the room above. Luckily I was exhausted so I did fall asleep but it was noticeable. Trying to reach someone (because we were checking in late) was also a little difficult.
- Beth (10/5): Convenient overnight for the eclipse. - Clean. Courteous. Friendly. Can't ask for more than that.
- Brianne (10/5): Would stay again - Super cute lodge. Newly renovated. Bathroom was great. Beds comfy. Really close to the ski slopes. Wished there was a microwave.
- Gretchen (8/5): Mostly Great! - We loved our room. It was adequate sized and pristine. Full-sized bathroom shampoo, conditioner, soap. No tub but a large shower. The tv was awesome, eith many selections. Mostly the room was very quiet. Room entry was with a lock code. There was a small fridge, k- cup coffee machine, and a nice selection of teas. At the entrance was a small seating area and a small bar for apres ski.The resort location is less than a mile from Sugarbush base. They were accomodating in giving ice for our cooler (no ice macine).Negatives were having to lug suitcases up or down stairs to get to the floor with the room; no luggage cart; a lack of adequate places to hang towels and things in the bathroom; noise filtering from the hall if rowdy people entered from the lounge; only 1 chair in the room for 2.m; the bed was comfortable but the frame stuck out a couple inches from the mattress so was easy to knock shins on. But basically we really liked staying there!
- DAVID (8/5): Nice place to stay, but with very thin walls! - The Lodge is very well kept, the common area was well maintained and comfortable, and the room was clean. Overall, a nice place to stay. Our only complaint is that the walls are VERY thin, and sounds from other rooms were clearly audible. There was a family, apparently with small children, in the room above us, and for several hours in the evening we heard continuing, loud sounds from the room above, which were probably from the kids running around, but it was extremely loud and sounded like furniture was being moved around. Also, every time a room door closed anywhere on our wing of the building, we heard a loud thud. After 8 PM, there was no one at the front desk to complain to (only a phone number for another lodge on the property).
- Ian (10/5): - Pleasant and relaxing - close to ski hill
- Valeria (10/5): Perfect stay for mountain days! - We had a really nice experience at the lodge! Rooms are renovated and have a really nice decor. Everything was very clean. Convenient lockers for ski equipment and shuttle to the mountain. Note the property doesn’t serve food but they do have coffee maker in room and also coffee, tea and water and the lobby. There is a little bar as well. Note the lower floor room might have some noise of people walking above, so if you sensitive to noise maybe request a to in the upper floor; we had to get up early anyways so we didn’t mind too much. Overall we had a really enjoyable experience for our ski trip.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Nice place but not for a family with kids - Simple motel style stay. Very bare bones. If you’re looking for amenities, you won’t find any here.
Pros: newly renovated, very close to Sugarbush mountain, very clean, cozy lodge with board games and fireplace, inexpensive compared to other lodgings in the area, helpful staff, equipment lockers, shuttle to the mountain.
Cons: nearly zero amenities on site (resort fee charged daily for a rec centre), no food or restaurant in the lodge (tiny bar that is open thurs-sat). Walls are paper thin, can hear everything from the hall or next door. Make sure to ask for a room upstairs facing the back. We woke up several times to banging from upstairs neighbours. Lower rooms have one small window and if they face the front then there is hardly any privacy. Heaters make tons of noise at night and are hard to adjust temperature. The room is too small for a family of 4. There’s no closet for storage. Make sure you’re very organized with your bags etc. if you want to move around in the room comfortably. There is a tiny fridge that may fit a few cans of soda. There is no table, it was difficult to bring simple groceries to eat in the room, which was necessary because during the week restaurants have odd hours and most aren’t open until Thursday.
It was an okay stay overall, definitely doable, and nice rooms for no more than 2 people. I would come back, but not with kids.
- Maureen (8/5): not bad for the price - location room had no closet
- Étienne (8/5): Warm hospitality - The comfort was great, the ambiance in the lobby was nice, warm and inviting, the reception lady was welcoming, but the cleanliness could be improved. There were some hairs in the bathroom and the walls in the bathroom didn't look clean.
- Gina (10/5): - Rooms were clean and comfortable. Just up the street from skiing.
- Christine (8/5): Very good - Great bar and lounge area Rooms were a bit small, not great noise control between rooms and rooms above.
- draudio2u (8/5): Bring the Cheerios inside, no need to stay in your car anymore. - First time stay at the Lodge, Sugerbush now owns the place, along with the shop just up the street. They seem to be making a real estate play for everything from German Flat Road all the way up the hill. The good - they remade the rooms and everything was clean, comfortable, and warm. The walls are a little thin but in no way should this place be getting the terrible reviews it previously had. The lounge is cozy with fireplace, and the bartender is a fabulous mixologist! Wish it was open every evening rather than just Thursday-Saturday. It would be great if there was a breakfast option, but you have to fend for yourself. Price was so so, and gets very pricy during peak weekends. Still, not bad, especially if you can score an IKON discount booking with it. Will return, with a box of cheerios for when I wake up.
- Ana (8/5): Very good - Things were upgraded / updated and clean Downside is that the window of our room (on the first floor) fully opened. So felt unsettled by that, and by the fact that no doors on either side of the building locked at all. Coming from NYC, this freaked me out. All was fine but from a safety standpoint felt more like a motel in that we only had the door to our room
- Nate (6/5): Great place for 2 nights - Décoration, super bar et lobby avec foyé Chambre mal isolé et on entends tout.
- Johnson (7/5): Good - Great bar, beautiful design Squeaky floors, not good sound insulation
- Jocelyn (8/5): - The Lodge location is great for access to Lincoln peak. The room as very nice, however the coffee pot didn’t work in the room. Not a big deal for some but it was for me.
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional -
- Frank (6/5): - Rooms were small...no closets, just hooks on the wall. There were no food & beverage outlets. Had to pay a resort fee...have no idea what this covered since they did not have a restaurant, pool and they did not have housekeeping to service the room.
- Robert (10/5): - We were charged a Resort Fee of $45.00 per day. The only amenity was a gym which was a mile away. Not right
- Deborah (10/5): - Clean rooms. Friendly staff. Nice area to relax and enjoy the fireplace.
- Robert (10/5): - This was a simple, clean room with a very comfortable bed. The building is part of a resort that we did not get involved. Several good restaurants in the area. Excellent quiet heating system
- Jason (8/5): - Would not recommend a room on the bottom floor due to poor noise deadening above you, but overall was a nice stay with a fresh, clean feeling and I would stay here again.
- Wilhelmina (10/5): Basic - Just a nice place to lay your head. No continental breakfast. Only a keurig in the room
- Margaret (8/5): - Lovely, newly renovated lodge in the Sugarbush network. This is a great place with super friendly staff. It's close to a place that has good coffee, food and groceries. I would stay here again but I would stay on the top floor because we were on the first floor and there was a lot of noise from people walking around above which woke us up both mornings. Other than that, the place was quite comfortable and perfect for family weekend.
- Margarita (6/5): - It was absolutely beautiful. It was clean, great beds, toiletries. We ran into a minor hiccup though as somehow upper management failed to inform the front desk that I had booked TWO rooms and had only one booking for ONE room. The concierge (Rafael) was an absolute angel and I hope he gets compensated accordingly. Anyway, crisis was averted, he jumped in to help housekeeping to clean one of the rooms in a scramble and got us sorted in little time and the room was impeccable. The only REAL complaint is how cold the water in the bathroom was, it was painfully uncomfortable to shower and it wasn't just our room, the other room we had booked for family had the same complaint. Not sure if that's about the safety settings in the tap or if they merely have a tiny hot water tank. Aside from that, it was a wonderful experience, their lounge area was absolutely spectacular, beautiful chimney with a zen feel. Management needs to pay better attention to the bookings they get online and communicate that far better to ALL their employees.
- Brooke (10/5): - The employees are very kind.
- EDWARD (10/5): - Nicely updated.
- Sue (8/5): - It was off season so not many guests, The hotel was recently renovated and some rooms are still being renovated, Room was clean, modern and comfortable. There is no closet, iron etc. The hotel is geared for skiers. I would recommend it as nice place to stay.
- Mary (10/5): Mad Marathon trip - Hotel wasn’t available. It appeared it was under renovations. So they put us up in the Cedar Brook which was a huge upgrade. Beautiful facility!
- kenkU8444EV (2/5): Disappointed - Since the resort bought the lodge, I think it went downhill.
Breakfast is no longer included. The place is basic. If you are look8mg for a budget hotel in Sugarbush, it’s fine. Don’t expect much
Only if I’m desperate will I return
- Demoleas (7/5): Good -
- Zagami (7/5): The skiing was great! - Nothing fancy but clean. The room was warm without a thermostat. Had to open the window. Reasonable place to stay if you are hiking, skiing.
- Anthony (8/5): - Convenience to the mountain.
- Ben (10/5): Nice place, reasonably priced. - Very pleasant lodge, we did not use many of the facilities (e.g. pub or spa passes), but the washer dryers on-site were very nice after a day of very snowy skiing.
- Patty (10/5): - Outside lights and inside walkway lights not working, thought it was closed. Parking lot could have been plowed better
- Randy (8/5): - Good location. Clean,
- Veronika (8/5): - It’s nice and cozy place with all creatures what you wish for when you’re staying for skiing trip. They have a bar open, nice cozy fireplace with all the games, books, magazines, maps, big tv, coffee, tea and water machines. Only downside was the room temperature. It was very hot for mine night sleep and the heater went probably fully on which was making kind of loud noise during all night. I am light sleeper. I was staying only a night so it is highly possible that there was a way how to lower the room temperature.
- Pat (8/5): it was a comfortable and convenient lodge - convenient nothing
- Tara (8/5): Very good -
- tsl939 (8/5): Good enough - Better than expected for the price. Safe, clean, comfortable. Very good for an overnight stay all things considered. Don’t expect luxurious accommodations but there is a nice lobby with coffee, tea, water, fireplace. All in all would return.
- Sonya (10/5): we had a great time ! - location and facilities . nice common area . bonus was the laundry and communal large fridge.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Quick Family trip - Close to the mountain
Cozy lounge area w games for the kids while the adults enjoyed a few drinks at the bar. Awesome bartender & atmosphere!
- Michael (10/5): - Very nice … would stay again soon
- Audrey (8/5): - Overall we had a pleasant stay.
The pros: close to the mountain. Friendly staff. Fireplace lounge was a nice place to play games with the family. They have added a small bar in the lounge which looked like they are trying to go for the VT hipster vibe (complete with a leather apron on the bartender)- but we had the kids and it’s Dry January for me so I didn’t get to try it out. Looked like a nice place to grab a quiet drink. There was a mini fridge in our room and down the hall a common area with a microwave, full sized fridge and laundry. You also get access to resort amenities which I didn’t realize- bring your swimsuits and climbing gear if you want to take advantage of some of that. I heard they have a pool, hot tub and climbing wall?
The cons: the rooms were tiny. Two full sized beds for 4 people. Limited storage. Paper thin walls. Made for a very tight squeeze in the room, but we knew this going in. Beds were comfortable and sheets were crisp and clean. Television was tiny. Can’t BYOB into the fireplace common area because that is now considered part of the bar.
- Maxx (7/5): overall good value hotel for a ski trip. nothing spectacular, but just what you need - proximity to the ski lifts, and right on Sugarbush Access road to get to restaurants The thermostat didn’t work in the room so it was at times unbearably hot in our room
- Takeshi (7/5): Good -
- johanjon (2/5): Avoid at all cost - The lodge is located a couple of minutes drive from the ski area.
Property is clean and well kept. Beds were ok. So far so good.
To the cons.
Very thin walls, if you stay on lower floor you will hear every footstep from room above, heating makes noises all night long.
Resort fee for no amenities.
Needless to say I would not stay again.
- Cristina (10/5): Exceptional -
- Peter (6/5): Pleasant - The staff was friendly and gave us good restaurant recommendations. The lobby with tables and free coffee was nice. The room was small, there was only one chair, and the heat stopped working for a while but it was fixed when we complained. The price was high for what we got.
- Peggy (3/5): the property was kind enough to move us to a place that IS handicapped accessible. Booking.com needs to let people know - the desk clerk was nice this place is NOT even basically handicapped accessible. No ramps, stairs to get in, stairs up to check in, stairs down to rooms. No bars to get out of the shower. No one even in the building to staff it except from 2-10. what happens if there is a fire or emergency????? They do give you a number to call, but not a quick pick up. Then no breakfast or housekeeping. plus the tub handle fell apart and my husband couldn’t shower
- Elaine (5/5): Passable -
- Sudeshna (8/5): - It's a quiet beautiful property.
- Ralph (4/5): - Very thin walls, heating makes noises all night long and Resort fee for no amenities. I would not stay again.
- Craig (10/5): - Just glad it was here and affordable
- Kristen (8/5): - Don't expect fancy, but enjoy the casual, comfortable lodge with clean rooms and a cozy lobby to hang out in, right in the middle of the spectacular fall folliage!
- Rocco (8/5): - Very personable staff.
- Joanna (7/5): Good - Quiet neighborhood Not enough lighting in the room. No microwave.
- Stephen (8/5): - It was quiet. Not the easiest access. Warm and cozy.
- attilak835 (2/5): Sugarbush Lodge - Overpriced. No cleaning service. No USB charging nor enough outlets in the room. Bathroom and room furniture outdated. Had to ask for clean towels and garbage bags. No ice in the facility on day 1. Not enough parking. To call this a ‘resort’ is a joke.
- Olivia (5/5): Comfortable bed - Bed was comfortable. Raphael was great. The food at the restaurant Rumble for dinner and brunch was terrible.
For the price of the room it was very small and all of the facilities (recreation centre with the indoor pool, hot tub and exercise room) closed at 7pm on the Saturday. We could hear the people leaving above us as it made a lot of noise and woke us up. I lest my running shoes in the hotel room and that was unfortunate.
- Lindsey (5/5): Decent for what you pay - The staff member who checked me in was so incredibly nice. I also liked the updated bathroom. The hotel is very outdated. There were no updated amenities at all in the room. And the tv was tiny with a long delay to change channels.
- Shirley (7/5): clean facilities friendly staff but needed more handicapped parking and a working television - location was handy to where relatives were needed more handicapped parking. the television didn’t work
- Frederick (6/5): - Very basic hotel. No breakfast or coffee because of Covid. No coffee maker or refrigerator in room either. There is a large refrigerator and microwave on each floor for guests. Room was very small but clean. Interestingly there is no temperature control at all. You are at the mercy of the front desk which controls the entire place. Staff was very friendly.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It was actually cute and quaint. Aside from our noisy young neighbors
- Ronald (6/5): OK - Ok but dated and rooms a little musty.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It appears as if the rooms have been recently refurbished. Everything was very clean. The breakfast area has been shut down which was a disappointment.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Convenient to a lot of areas. With clean rooms And bathrooms
- Maha123_12 (6/5): Rustic lodge for pandemic getaway - My daughter and I stayed at the lodge for 3 nights last week. Given the Covid restrictions most of the hotel's common areas were closed - e.g. the sitting area with the fireplace and the restaurant. Therefore, it is hard for me to assess what it would be like to stay there during 'normal' times. We just needed a place to sleep. The room was clean with a comfortable bed. it was also very quiet so we could get a good night's sleep. The hotel is extremely well located - only a short distance from Sugarbush mountain. The staff is extremely friendly.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Nobody present upon arrival, roomkey with my name on it, that was ok.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Clean and comfortable- great value and location. Was very easy to add an extra nights stay.
- Chris (8/5): Great ski lodge experience - Great ski lodge experience. Some noise from lobby and parking a little tight. Rooms dated but clean and comfortable.
- Ben (10/5): - the saffwas friendly and accommodating. The rooms were clean and well maintained. The rooms are small but adequate. The facility was quite and restfully. I would definitely consider staying at Sugar Lodge if I was in the area.
- R4490SO (4/5): Nice people, but needs an update - Friendly & accommodating staff presenting a good value < 2 mins drive to Sugarbush’s Lincoln Peak. The place is well-maintained, but badly, badly needs an some investment from the owners. The beds feel like a pile of cardboard, the pillows may be airplane freebies, and the tissues will give you a paper-cut. Little things like the bathroom exhaust fan were broken, but that could have been an exception. Continental Breakfast was decent, enough to get you through your first run.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Super close to the slopes, great community area...
- Dec1950 (8/5): Family ski trip - We stayed at the lodge last week(4 adults) and found the facilities very very good. Its location is excellent for the ski runs.
Owners were most helpful in recommending restaurants, skiing etc.
The rooms were kept very clean.
Very good value for money.
- Brittany (10/5): GREAT WEEKEND SPOT - Such a great location and such a cute place!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - This place was extremely close to the mountain, and very easy to get too. It’s a great spot to stay for about 3 nights, otherwise there isn’t much room for you, your things and your boyfriend / girlfriends stuff. The bathroom was pretty big and I appreciated that. Another thing which honestly bugged me the most and please consider - you heard everything. If your neighbor is using the bathroom, you will know. If the neighbor above you is walking, you are aware.
After skiing all day I wanted peace and quiet. But hotels.com gave me such a good deal I would totally come back again. Breakfast was decent, I’m pretty young so maybe I’m just used to things but I wished for a bit more options to eat. :)
- sherry (8/5): Hot room - Don't have control of your heat in the room. Asked 3 times to turn it down, it was too hot. Also can't put your ski boots on in your room to ride shuttle.
- Laraanabellariv (10/5): - Like the fire
Did’nt like no spa
Thaïlande toi lojdjejd ksnsndkdkdndnd
- williamtraveler (10/5): Rustic lodge perfect for ski trip - The Sugarlodge was everything we needed for a family ski trip over the holidays. Basic clean rooms, inviting common area, reasonable rates, helpful staff, bagels/muffins/cereal/coffee to get the day started and only a couple minute drive up to Sugarbush base lodge.
There is also great access to excellent food and Vermont craft beer in the area.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Close to slopes. Clean. Sure staff is always busy and meeting the needs of stressful travelers and it can get to anyone. Maybe having more staff working especially a holiday week can help everyone overall.
Pricey for level of place and service and condition. here you are paying for the location, nothing else really.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Mistreated by the owner/manager due our service dog. I have never been treated so poorly by an hotel employee in all me years of travel.
- Steven (8/5): Top notch - The service was top notch and the amenities we're above expectation for the price I paid
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Design is kind of dated. Bedding is not comfortable and the bed was not the most comfortable.
Very little common space. Breakfast bar is locked at night and the Dining Room is main lobby of the Lodge. Refrigerator is shared by all rooms.
Staff was nice and helpful, even making to go bags for the marathon runners who would otherwise miss the continental breakfast.
