The owner is extremely helpful and friendly and gave us tips such as how much a taxi should cost to the train station. We took a tuk tuk to the station to Machu Picchu the next morning. Room was large and bathroom large.

Bedrooms are spacious and had everything we needed, a comfy bed, hot shower and the sound of water running outside just made it more special. Antonio is great. Very helpful and nice. We had to leave early the next day and missed the breakfast. Antonio was kind enough to pack our breakfast to go. Would stay there again and would recommend to my friends.

- Verified traveler (10/5): - We stayed at B&B Picaflor Tambo for 1 night before travelling on to Machu Picchu. Out of a 3-week trip in Ecuador and Peru, with 8 different accommodations, which were all good, this was my husband's favourite stay. The staff were welcoming and helpful, giving us dining suggestions. The inn and our room were cosy and quaint, with a decor of beautiful local art and handicrafts. The bed was comfortable, and there were warm covers. We had a water jug which we could refill with purified water--something that was not provided at any of our other accommodations in Peru. We had no issues with the shower or the wifi, as a few other reviewers have had. (I suspect some reviewers may not be familiar with tankless hot-water heating. We also have this at home, and it can take a little bit longer for the water to get hot, especially on upper floors.) Although we didn't use it, several varieties of tea, including coca tea, were available in our room. Breakfast was delicious, and we loved the charming breakfast room. Our room had a view of ruins and the aquaduct. We loved staying in the midst of Incan history. Our experience here was brief, but pleasant and comfortable. We would definitely stay here again, if we are ever back in the area. (Cross posted.)

We really enjoyed Ollantaytambo it's the prefect place to step off to see Machu Picchu and the sacred valley. When you get to Cusco, just get in a cab and go here.

We really appreciate very much that he helped us with the interpretation between the private taxi driver and us as very unfortunately we could hardly speak any Spanish. - M (10/5): Nice surprise! - Expected "bare bones" accommodation, was delightfully surprised to find since a charmingly beautiful B&B. Room and bathroom were very pretty and clean. Care was obviously taken to provide a warm and inviting decor. No heat but good comforter and spare blankets available. Staff was great! They arranged transportation from Cusco to their B&B at reasonable rate. Hearty breakfast with eggs cooked to order. Will return to this B&B if ever on holiday in this area again. Mostly due to the attentive staff!

- Alyssa (8/5): Charming B&B - We really enjoyed our stay at Wasi Picaflor. The rooms were lovely. The owners were extremely helpful. They arranged a driver for our trip, got us restaurant reservations and were happy to help in every way. The beds were a little firmer than I am used to and the shower had delicate controls. Those were minor issues. The welcoming atmosphere and beautiful surroundings more than made up for it. I would stay here again for sure!
- Samantha (10/5): Such an adorable place in the most quaint town - We had the best time staying in Ollantaytambo! I loved this hotel and would definitely recommend it! The location is perfect and the man and woman who run it could not be nicer or more accommodating. Every random request we made they were so kind in return. When we left for a train at 5:15 AM they had woken up to give us a brown bag breakfast to see us off. It was so sweet! The walls are a tad thin so you might hear other guests, but since everyone is going to MP you will probably be waking up early anyways! I would love to go back to this place someday.

- Verified traveler (6/5): Not a bad location as a jump off to other areas. - Staff was very good, as was the location. Staff prepared breakfast daily and even packed a day snack for my adventure to Machu Picchu. Ruins right out the door and another a short walk away. Also walking distance to the train. My only issue was that there were many ants in the bathroom daily. You won't find absolute quiet here. There is a small water channel/canal running just outside, which some may find soothing. As with many hotels, this one has no sound proofing. I'm a light sleeper and always carry and use earplug, so not an issue for me, but voices and sounds carry throughout the hotel.

- Rocky (10/5): Super cute hotel - This hotel was excellent. It's very cute on the inside, clean, and the staff is very friendly. Our room was spacious and clean. The street that the hotel is located is cobblestone and very picturesque with the mountains in the background. We were served breakfast in the morning and it was excellent. Overall I'd highly recommend this hotel!
- Verified traveler (6/5): Nice but noisy - This is a very nice hotel with friendly staff. I would have given it 5 stars if not for the loud music from a neighboring bar that kept on going until 4:30am (we stayed on Saturday). The windows do not insulate any sound so if the party is on, you are awake. This is particularly troubling if you are planning to take an early train to Machu Picchu, likely you won't get any sleep at all (which is what happened to us). Bring ear plugs. I am surprised the hotel does not provide them along with a promise to wake you up.
- Jan (10/5): Beautiful Place with Sound of Running Water - Picaflor Tambo is a little oasis. You can hear the water running in the little canal along the walkway. Our room had a view out the window to the ruins. The room was nice and there was hot water for a shower. The staff was welcoming and helpful. We were leaving the next morning before sunrise for our Machu Picchu train. The staff at Picaflor Tambo made us a bagged snack to take along, since we left before they served breakfast. This part of the town is charming. Tourists mix with locals and it has a young, friendly vibe.
- Chris (8/5): Stylish and Rustic - As expected for a building built on original Inca foundation, it's a little rustic, but overall this is a nicely styled, comfortable place. We found it charming and would have liked to stay longer if our itinerary permitted. We stayed 2 nights. The Picaflor is situated about a 100 yards away from the busy main street, This seemed ideal, because there's a steady stream of tour buses, trucks, and stinky motorcarros flowing through Ollantaytambo "Calle Principal".

Nothing was too much trouble for him and his staff to ensure we had a great holiday. He also arranged a wonderful driver, Edgar, for us to pick us up from Cusco & take us back there via several attractions. He is an excellent driver and very friendly and helpful. The hotel is small, very clean and has a lovely atmosphere. We had the best time here and recommend Picoflor Tambo very highly.

- Verified traveler (8/5): good budget option - This is a cute little place. I would recommend trying to get an upstairs room. We booked last minute and had a room with 3 single beds. Wasn't ideal for a couple, but it was fine. There are windows all along one wall that look out to the courtyard - the could use better curtains, as it's a bit awkward. All basic but fine. They breakfast is good and they gave us a welcome drink also. Very nice family that owns the place. This is a good budget option
- Silvia (10/5): Our stay at Picaflor Tambo - We enjoyed our stay at Picaflor Tambo hotel. It is more like a bed and breakfast. The people were very nice and they kept our suitcases for a day while we traveled to Machu Picchu. We stayed two nights. The room is very clean and breakfast was good. The hotel is about two short blocks from the main plaza and cars can not drive in the narrow streets to the hotel. You need to stop at the plaza an walk to the hotel. It wasn't a problem for us but if you have difficulties walking or have too much luggage, you might consider that. Overall it was a great experience.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Breathtaking Town, Conveniently Located Guesthouse - The location is great, just a few steps away from the main square of Ollantaytambo, and it is not that the archaeological sites are nearby, but rather, you'll be sleeping in and on the remains of the Inka civilization! These are the original Inka streets, they are all cobblestone and super narrow so no cars can go in. They offered a very nice breakfast of fruit, fresh juice, coffee, tea, eggs, and bread. The staff was super nice, -especially Antonio-. Because the high season is during the winter of Peru, Ollantaytambo is a cold town in the night with temperatures dropping even to the mid 40's (especially in June which is the coldest month), and for some unknown reason, most hotels don't have central heating and the small heaters are not powerful enough to warm up the room; they do provide, however, a good amount of blankets. Peruvian people are kind, hospitable and very friendly, so one can only be grateful to them because they offer the very best that they have -at least, such was the case with the staff at Picaflor Tambo-. Wifi was not very good in the room but it was in the common areas. Do bring some warm pajamas and make sure you understand how to make the hot water work. A couple of doors away there was a bar and the music got loud during the weekend. Regardless of these little "inconveniences", we are planning to go back and will most likely stay at the same hotel. Hopefully, Antonio will be there again managing the place.

- Kerry (6/5): Guest House only a short stroll to Plaza de Armas - We booked this property with the impression that it was a small hotel. It is indeed a Guesthouse. All rooms open onto a central courtyard and have large windows at the front, in view of the balcony and walkway. The curtains do cover the whole of the windows but are a little see through. Rooms are very basic with only beds, bedside tables and private ensuites. There are no TV's on the property at all. Given that sitting down outside the guesthouse anywhere usually involves eating and/or drinking, it is difficult to relax at the guesthouse and stare at a blank wall. On the upside, Breakfast is nice and you may get a chance to meet and talk with other guests.

We had the suite, which was delightful and very reasonably priced. Pretty, fluffy comforter on the bed, and great shower. Our daughter had one of the smaller rooms, which was also very nice--just lacked a window onto the street. The staff was very helpful and welcoming.
- Mike (2/5): We were robbed! Don't stay here! - I booked two rooms at the Picaflor Tambo, which at first seemed like a good choice. However, on our last day last day there, I woke up and found my wallet was missing 500 US dollars worth of Chilean Pesos. I ran down to tell our other roommates who stayed in a separate room, and found that they had also been robbed of their money. When we approached Lilian, the owner of the hotel, she said that the only people who had access to the room were the two cleaners who she would "put her hand in the fire for them". She said we probably misplaced the money and blamed us. When we checked into the hotel we asked if there was a safety deposit box so we could leave our money and we were assured the rooms were safe to leave our valuables. I couldn't believe that she didn't take responsibility for our rooms being robbed, and insisted that we lost it. There is no way two people in two separate rooms both lost their money! Someone clearly stole it. One of the rooms was even left open, even though I had locked it in the morning. The lack of responsibility for what happened was very unprofessional. Then Lilian blamed us again saying we should have waited until we got to Chile to exchange the money instead of doing it before. At the end of the day, we were out 1000 dollars and had no form of retribution, or even an acknowledgement that the money was stolen. I highly suggest to stay in another hotel where you can trust the owners and employees.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Not what was I was looking for... - I looked very hard for a hotel that had a true queen or king bed in town for the dates we had programmed to stay in Ollanta. This was the one. Also the reviews were fantastic. Tricky to find, and after nit picking on our bills, we were presented with a tiny, mold smelling double bed room, that started triggering an asthma attack after the few minutes we sat there. They offered to downgrade us to other room where they could join a double and single bed, right below the moldy room (less moldy smelling). Since we still had to go to the local ATM to get bills good enough for them, we decided to go back to Cuzco after our card gave us an issue. We explained our situation to them by phone, and truth being said, they could not deliver on our reserve.
- Adrian (10/5): Beautiful hotel in Ollantaytambo - This hotel was amazing! My girlfriend and I booked the queen suite which had its own bathroom and view. The room over looks a beautiful alleyway in Ollantaytambo. You can see a ruin right on the mountainside from your window. The hotel itself is beautiful and has an authentic vibe. It is wonderful to sleep with the peaceful and subdued sound of running water outside. Antonio was the perfect host. He was great for information and just all around great guy. We loved our stay so much we changed our plans and booked the same room again on the way down from Machu Picchu.

The host and hostess were first class in every way. Breakfast was above average and the facility was CLEAN!! When we left for Cusco the host arranged for a cab driven by one of his friends and the driver and trip could not have been more enjoyable. We travel a lot and would definitely stay here again. Can't go wrong here.

- Derek (8/5): Great place to stay, despite a couple shortcomings - This place is a beautiful gem in Ollantaytambo. The town itself is so lively and loaded with history and charm. It can be a little tough to find since the streets are poorly labeled, but it is tucked along an outer street next to the mountain with the grain storage ruins above. The staff were friendly and very helpful. Antonio assisted our taxi driver in getting our bags to our 2nd floor room and also brought them back down to the plaza with us upon check out. The breakfast was simple, but fresh and delicious. Our only complaints were that the bed and pillows were very firm and there was a rooster crowing very early in the morning (and continued for a few hours) on the property just outside our window. This place was one of our favorites during our stay in Peru!

- SURAJ (10/5): UNFORGETTABLE STAY!!! - THIS HOTEL IS FANTASTIC AND I LOVED IT. ITS IN A VERY BEAUTIFUL LOCATION. THE HOTEL IS VERY CLEAN AND COMFORTABLE. THEY HAVE MAINTAINED THIS HOTEL TO A VERY HIGH STANDARD. THE STAFF IS VERY HELPFUL, POLITE AND KNOWLEDGEABLE. ON THE DAY OUR TRIP TO MACCHU PICHU, THE LADE WOKE UP AT 4 IN THE MORNING JUST TO MAKE US BREAKFAST. I WAS NOT REALLY EXPECTING THIS. I WOULD LIKE TO THANK EVERYONE AT THIS HOTEL FOR THEIR FANTASTIC SERVICE. THE ROOM IS WARM AND COMFORTABLE WITH EXTRA ELECTRIC HEATER. I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL TO EVERYONE.

- Roger (10/5): Great value, lovely room, lovely people - We loved it here. The owner-proprietor is so welcoming and accommodating. Bearing in mind it is cash only, they let me pay half in US and half in Soles which was appreciated. Our room was lovely, with outlook over a nice stream and the ruins of Incan granaries which are free to climb up. Breakfast was local bread, eggs, coffee, juice - not huge quantities - enough certainly for normal people. There was hot water ALWAYS when we wanted it. The wifi is so-so, but Ollantaytambo is the end of the line, so there isnt much they can do about that. Stay here - its really nice and really good value!
- Neil (10/5): Nice stay near the main square in Ollantaytambo! - We stayed three nights interrupted by a night in Aguas Calientes. The staff were attentive to our needs and always knew who we were and called us by our names. When we arrived back for the third night stay, they moved our luggage we left behind into the same requested room, there was a smooth transition.
- Maria (10/5): A most pleasant surprise in Ollytantambo! - Antonio and his wife are the best hosts. They were so accommodating and helpful. The hotel is very charming. The afternoon complimentary Pisco sour and popcorn was a nice way for the guests to meet and chat and exchange information. Breakfast was not the usual buffet, but individually made scrambled eggs. Fruit juice, coffee, delicious bread with butter and several jams were served alongside. Antonio and his wife offer a laundry service as an added benefit. The rooms have different names instead of numbers. It was pleasant, clean and we had a nice experience.

We got in late and were very tired, but they took such good care of us and made us a delicious local breakfast in the morning. It is also a five minute walk right across the street to see ruins. I would definitely recommend this place for anyone to stay at. Whether passing through or staying for a while, Picaflor is a great spot, with the nicest staff we've encountered. Gracias por todo!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Hidden gem in Ollantaytambo - We stayed at Picaflor Tambo on our way to and back from Machu Picchu and loved it. The room was simple but nicely decorated, clean, spacious and with all the amenities we needed (hot shower and free WiFi). The staff was super nice and packed breakfast bags for us the morning we left (early) for Machu Picchu. From the hotel, we could walk to the archaeological site, the main plaza and its restaurants, and the train station. We would definitely stay there again and highly recommend it.

- Kelly (8/5): Nice place to stay, just on the outskirts - Picaflor is a cute, two-story building in the old Inca town. It's cool to stay in a place with true Inca walls! The inside is nice, the rooms are nice, and the staff was very nice. Wifi access is included, but like nearly all small towns in Peru, the bit rate is achingly slow. We found that the outside street scene intruded a bit on our sense of peace & quiet in our ground-floor room - perhaps it's a bit better upstairs.
- David (10/5): An excellent start - Picaflor Tambo was the first stop on our Peruvian vacation. It is a charming little hotel in an equally charming little town. Our room was rustic and large, having high ceilings with exposed roof beams. The views from our two small porches was really nice. The hotel is located on a quiet pedestrian lane, just steps away from the entrance to an excellent (and free) hike up the hillside to an excellent view of town and its Inca ruins. Prior to arrival, the hotel set up taxi transport for us all the way from Cusco airport and then back to Cusco once we had returned from our visit to Machu Picchu, also allowing us to store our luggage in the interim. Antonio was a joy, friendly and helpful, with just enough English to allow me to improve on my Spanish. Highly recommended.
- Ario R (10/5): You will feel like home when you stay here.... - Excellent hosts! Hilda the owner and Antonio both were very caring people. They treated their guests as friends. I was upgraded to the bigger room (if you come during the busy season, don't hope to get this privilege). The room was extremely clean. The breakfast was typical Peruvian breakfast. The hospitality was the thing differentiates this place with the others. Within couple days, I knew the stories of both Hilda and Antonio. As I said, we became friends and not just guests. We only stay here for 3 nights, yet we did enjoy everything. Well, almost. The one thing that I wish could be better was the slow and sometimes unstable internet connection. However, the fact that this place is located in between mountains, it is understandable. Overall, great place to stay. Will come back and will recommend.

- Verified traveler (10/5): Mountain Gem - This lovely little hotel was a joy. Out room overlooked a small stream, and I was so happy to hear the sound of the running water as I drifted off to sleep. Breakfast in the morning consisted of eggs, cheese, olives, fresh fruit, coffee and juice. The staff is so nice- they rearranged our room during our stay, just to keep things interesting. (We didn't ask them to do this, it was a total surprise!) You do need to ring the front bell to get in and out, but we didn't stay out very late at night, so this wasn't a problem for us. The entire town is a gem tucked in the hills, and we plan to visit again.

Next time I would bring my iPod and ear buds to shut out noise. Breakfast was scrambled eggs, cheese, olives, and bread. The coffee was incredible. The manager, Antonio, speaks very good English and as very helpful. The location is close To the square, but be prepared for much noise. We left after a few nights and stayed at the Apu lodge, which was nicer and less expensive. AND, much quieter. Showers were iffy, sometimes it took a long time to get hot water. We did enjoy our stay at Picaflor Tambo.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Surrender to the warmth of simple living - We loved it here. Antonio (I think this was his name) was a wonderful host. He arranged for a very inexpensive taxi to pick us up in Cusco. Pisco Sours and tea to help with the altitude sickness were at the ready shortly after we arrived. He gave us a recommendation for a wonderful restaurant in town. (It was our favorite meal in Peru -- including the ones we had in Lima.) He recommended a hike that is literally steps away from their front door. Breakfast was simple but tasty: scrambled eggs, local bread, cheese, olives, Peruvian salt (THE BEST), butter, jelly, juice. About the hotel itself: This is less hotel and more B&B. The rooms are quaint and prettily adorned in local art. Don't go in expecting an American-style hotel or hotel standards -- that's not what this town is about. That is part of the charm of the experience. This hotel is walking distance to the ruins, the town square and the train (though that walk is a bit longer). You can hear the water running through the Incan water system built into the city out the windows -- it sounds a lot like a stream. There's a quote about this town that really summed up our stay here: "To stop in Ollanta is like setting one’s mind aside and living absent from oneself. It means not taking life so seriously and surrendering to the warmth of tranquility." We loved it and would stay here again.

- Mitchell (10/5): Wonderful Time at Picaflor - Fantastic couple of days. Antonio and the others at the hotel were beyond friendly. Antonio made us breakfast daily, gave directions, and even set up transportation to and from Cuzco. The hotel kept our luggage while we were in Aguas Calientes (because the train limits the size of bags you can bring), and had a taxi meet us at the station with our luggage for our return to Cuzco. Rooms were quite nice, especially for the price. The area was an easy walk to the plaza and close to a nice hiking trail. I would happily stay again.

It is about 2 blocks down a small cobblestone pedestrian walkway, which is hard to access for heavy rolling luggage, but it was nicely kept, very clean, and the owner and staff were very cheery and accomodating. I would stay here again. They only accept cash upon arrival, so be prepared, or you will have to go to the ATM. Traditional breakfast was delicious.

The rooms are basic but with comfortable beds. The highlight was the staff who were very hospitable and caring, especially to me as I was unwell, bringing me herbal tea while I was lying in bed! Very kind.
