Guest Reviews
- Verified traveler (10/5):
- Verified traveler (8/5): -
- Verified traveler (10/5): -
- Verified traveler (4/5): -
- Verified traveler (6/5): -
- Verified traveler (10/5): -
- Verified traveler (10/5):
- Verified traveler (6/5):
- LPS3621 (8/5): - I love Korean breakfast here.
- Verified traveler (8/5): -
- Verified traveler (4/5): - 6:45
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Small but decent. And that’s all I have to say. Blah blah blah.
- Verified traveler (6/5):
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Stayed here 3 days 2 nights from 17th May 2018. Good location. 6 minutes walk from Suidobashi station 7 minutes walk away, lots of shops within 3 minutes walk for groceries, pharmacist, an excellent Indian restaurant. Friendly staff, allowed us check-in 3 hours before normal check-in time at no extra cost, gave us lots of information about trains and shops. Coffee making facility OK. Clean, no noise. They will keep your luggage if you arrive before 3PM or have to leave after 11 AM. They give you slippers, robe, toothbrush, bathroom is compact but OK. To find this address: exit Suidobashi station at East Exit, walk at right angles to the overhead railway bridge on the main busy road for 4 minutes southwards till you find Sri Balaji Indian restaurant on the right side of the road, turn left and walk 3 minutes crossing two other small roads and past a church.
- Verified traveler (8/5):
- Verified traveler (10/5): -
- Helios (6/5): Affordable to stay - It's my 2nd time to stay at YMCA Hotel as the location is quite nice.
- Verified traveler (8/5):
- Verified traveler (6/5): -
- Verified traveler (8/5):
- Verified traveler (8/5): -
- Verified traveler (6/5): -
- Verified traveler (8/5): -
- Verified traveler (2/5):
- tkwgary (8/5): staff was nice. toliet little old - good breakfast , the bed is soft, can checkin in midnight
- Carita (6/5): - Ett helt ok hotel aningen slitet.
Low cost but old facilities - 一分錢一分貨, 設施有點殘舊。
The price is still reasonable for the quality. Facilities are a bit old. Better go from JR Suidobashi station if carry heavy luggage. There are quite a lot steps from the other two metro stations.
- Verified traveler (4/5): -
- Verified traveler (4/5):
- Verified traveler (6/5):
- Verified traveler (8/5): -
- Mati (8/5): Super clean but bed too sof - Super clean but bed too soft. It really hurt my back. The blanket was also the fluffy one that is suitable for sleeping outside in the Arctic, not for indoors. Too bad as otherwise the hotel was super!
- Mati (8/5): Small but clean - Tiny room but OK to stay for a few nights
- Brian (8/5): Great value! - Great value. Pleasant and helpful personnel. Thank you for helping with reservations for the YMCA in Gotemba. Very helpful!!!
- Frederique (8/5): Great place, friendly staff, good location - We spent 3 nights at this place and we felt like home. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel is a little old but very clean and comfortable. Very good location. Very good breakfast. We recommend it. Great place for the price.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good location for Meiji university with great staf - Poor laundry facilities.
Will definitely stay again. Staff very helpful and helpful
- Verified traveler (6/5): good price for tokyo - the hotel is just ok. the main problem was insufficient a/c. the staff is very helpful.
- pinkmoth (4/5): very pricy for what I paid. - A roache was crossing in front of the main entrance to welcome us first. Filthy and dated overall. The carpet in the hallway was covered stain spots. Bathroom looked never cleaned in years. Very far from train station. I have never stayed in the hotels with this quality. The fee was very high for what I had to go through.
- Andrew (6/5): Old and dated but cheap price - Given the price I did not expect too much. The rooms were spacious and came with 3 single beds. Air conditioner can be manually turned on which is great since some hotels only leave you with heat during certain months. Door entrances are about 6 foot 2 inches high. The place is very very dated and could definitely use some renovations the biggest being the CARPETS which were so dirty looking. Location was about 5 minute walk to the nearest station and there are some decent restaurants nearby. Akihaibara is about a 25 minute walk. Post office is really close to. I would reconsider coming back here again if I'm on a tight budget or have 3-4 guests who aren't picky.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Economical stay - Good breakfast! Cheap but not fancy! It is good for short stays and people on a budget.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - A very good and economical place to stay in Tokyo. The hotel is oldish, but the room is very clean, and the bed is comfortable. The staff are very nice. Great deal on the breakfast, too.
- Jordan (2/5): Quality of a rural Knights inn - It was by far the most disgusting place I've ever stayed at.. There were stains all over the wall and the carpet looked like it was from the 80"s and was covered in stains the bathroom was totally dated and what was even worse was that there was long stands of hair all over the ground and around the fosset in the shower just dangling and the shower head had crystallized I don't know all over it. It was like they never cleaned my room before my stay. I had to where socks when walking around my room. Also the comforter looked like it was straight from the 80's....in starting to think everything was. The hotel may look nice on the outside but completely nasty in the inside. Only upside was that the staff at conter were helpful. I would not recommend this place.
- Karen Kar Lye (4/5): Bare minimum - It would be nice if the walls are a bit more sound proof
- Shohreh (10/5): Great Value! - Perfect if you're not a fussy luxury seeker. A great value especially since we were able to have 4 people in the same room. Room was very comfortable. The staff were very helpful. Breakfast for only $2!
- Mikko (8/5): Good choice on a budget in a nice part of town - Good budget choice. Easy to find as long as you have some kind of offline map available.
Rooms are a bit old overall but clean and better than expected considering price.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Tiny room in an old hotel. The breakfast was pretty basic. Good access to the rest of Tokyo (Chuo Line). Good for a couple of nights travelling by self.
- Bryan (2/5): YMCA hotel - very strict front desk personel
- Paola (8/5): Vey clean and functional. Good location - In general all Ok, they were very nice and the room was functional and clean. Also is located very close to a subway station, so I could walk for less than 3 minutes and go to anywhere in Tokyo. Not all the staff know english, but was ok for me, they understood me anyway. The breakfast was acording to the price. I'd go there again. If you are looking for a place with a good location and want to stay out the most of the day, this is for you, combines perfectly functional/price.
- Jeff Gold ++ (4/5): Dirty - Difficult to find. Not close to anywhere. Very dirty
- Mamico (6/5): Convenient place in Tokyo. - Stayed for a concert in Budokan. 10mins from subway Stn and lots of nice restaurants nearby.
Room was very old but clean and just good for rest and sleep. Staff were very helpful.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Clean rooms - Rooms were clean and spacious. Great service, decent breakfast. However hotel was about 15 mins walk from metro, and includes a steep staircase which is tough to navigate with a heavy suitcase. Walking to the hotel, you will have to go down the stairs, so from hotel to metro station on the last day was a rather long and sweaty feat up the stairs with the suitcase that had of course gotten heavier. Beds were hard, could feel the springs in my back. Pillows felt like they were made of hardened cotton wool and glass beads? On the bright side, the complimentary soap smelled very nice, i think it was Lux body foam. Still, will not stay again.
- Cath (8/5): Central, and well worth the price! - Considering the location of the Youth Center, and its low price- I was initially rather apprehensive about how it would turn out. For a price like that, I was expecting to end up sleeping in a room that was comparable to a jail cell.
However, I was incredibly surprised by what the hotel offered. The rooms are small and, as many have commented, outdated, but for a place to just stay whilst exploring Tokyo and the surrounding areas- it is fantastic.
The rooms came with free wifi (just ask the desk for the password), TV and aircon- which was a much needed thing in the middle of a Tokyo summer. The desk is open 24/7, which meant there was no pressure for me to rush back from my activities around Tokyo, and the short distance from the station (which is only a fews stops away from Tokyo station, Akihabara and Ueno) made it incredibly well situated.
I'd definitely recommend the YMCA youth center to people who are wanting to make the most of Tokyo, but not have to drop a lot of money on accommodation.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Reasonable room, bad wifi, quiet location - Located at university area.. tend to be quiet (which is good).. 5-10 minutes walk to JR station.. stayed on 8th floor so very bad wifi connection.. none at all actually.. had to bring laptop to lobby for internet.. hotel staff very friendly and accommodating.. beware of using the phone though, was charged high rates for 3 local calls..
- victoria (6/5): nice place for a night or two stay - we're a group of 8 adults, we went to japan for sightseeing. the hotel staff are friendly and helpful. he even wrote questions in nippongo just in case we'll be looking for "currency exchanger" or "bank". the place is a little rundown but clean. if you just need a place to sleep and shower, with this price, its reasonable.
- sjbby (4/5): very hard to find, hotel not to top notch - extremely hard to find hotel as it's hidden in really quite small streets. yes, it is close to the station however took us about 30-40 minutes finding it. the rooms were old and the bathroom we had, the sink was broken (had holes) and was rusting. hotel staff was friendly and okay, breakfast was also okay, however overall was a really uncomfortable stay. we considered looking at nearby hotels to book another one even though we were there for just one night!!
- Verified traveler (6/5): Budget choice in city centre - Budget choice; just 3 stations from Tokyo Station by JR; choice of breakfast is good; slight problem with room sound proof.
- Fiona (10/5): Good hospitality. - We are happy to stay here with their excellent hospitality. Breakfast is very affordable in a cozy environment setting. Good value for money....
- Verified traveler (8/5): Very close to trains and food, clean, comfortable. - We had a lovely time here. It was clean and comfortable, very convenient to everything.
- Jahan Zaib (8/5): Quiet and simple - For a traveller who just needs a place to sleep at night, it was quite a good place to stay at although Suidobashi might be a little quiet at times. I definitely suggest for lone travellers to stay there.
- Jenson (6/5): - I love the cosy room of the hotel. One thing bad is the lock of the hotel door, I sometimes got confused whether is it locked or not because there is no indication for that. But everything is nice and good condition and affordable price. Cleanliness of room is very good and hotel service is done every morning. The amenities is well prepared.
- Wing (6/5): A fair hotel - This hotel is not bad but not good. It's cheap compared to many other hotels in Tokyo. But honestly the condition is a bit old. It's location is ok. Not long walk from JR train. If it will improve on its condition, it will be a much better hotel. I do think the hotel is clean but the condition makes it look not.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Lobby smells like cooked fish - Lobby smells like cooked fish
- Verified traveler (6/5): Not bad - I think most aspects of the hotel would fall under the saying "needs a new coat of paint." Carpets and wall paper were a little dirty, couldn't get the water very hot, furniture and furnishings looked worn. I, however, was just looking for a place to stay in Tokyo for one night and it served that purpose perfectly. We got meal tickets that were 200 yen and got toast, an egg, some little sausages, and a salad. The beds were comfortable enough. If you're looking for luxury, I'd say find another place. If you're looking for a simple place to stay with kind, helpful, English speaking staff, this could be the place.
- David (10/5): Excellent hotel for the price - Not the easiest place to find and not too much going on around the surrounding area, but still close to a Yamanote line station. Hotel itself was excellent, friendly staff, very clean and comfortable room. Amazing, cheap breakfast offered - recommend trying it at least once.
- Ssu-Ying (8/5): The room is large enough - The room is large enough, but wifi is weak.
- b. (6/5): Nice location - Decent and convenient place to stay. Only a bit disappointed about the Wi-Fi connection in my room.
- Kyle (6/5): Served it's purpose! - Fairly good location - easy walking distance from Suidobashi Station, and Tokyo Dome. Very old, and out-dated. Was not expecting much though, as the price was cheap. It served it's purpose - I only was there to sleep at night. Don't expect an amazing room, its very basic, and small. But great for those needing a cheap nights, and non-luxury. One word spring's to mind; 'Basic'. Receptionist gave me a map of the local area, which was helpful. 24hr reception, so you can still party out late, and return to get your key!
- joe c (8/5): great place - This. Was affordable and the staff was very friendly.
- P Baker (8/5): - An older, quite basic hotel but perfectly acceptable for comfort. Paid 200 yen for breakfast which was a bargain and you've got 4 choices - 3 Japanese style and 1 American breakfast. Good, convenient location, just a 5 minute walk from Suidobashi JR Station. With everything considered, good hotel at a bargain price. Have now stayed there twice.
