Guest Reviews
- Verified traveler (2/5): Not a great smell - We didn't have an issue with the cleanliness. Our biggest issue was the horrible smell in the house. This was especially true in the downstairs hall area. We found it very off-putting.
- Megan (10/5): - We loved staying here...Vanessa was lovely, the clever way she did breakfast so we could choose when we had it, the comfy room and bed...the great taxi service to Seahouses, the fact the we were left alone to enjoy our few days...all combined to make the 3 nights we stayed wonderful, and we will definitly be back!
- Sharna (10/5): Farm House - Owner Venessa is very welcoming and accomadating. I am a solo traveller and this time brought my bicycle along. Previously had been staying in Beadnell and with one phone call away I was able to check in with my bike and bags.
Farmhouse is on direct route from Beadnell or Chathill and easy to access.
Check out Low Newton by the sea..a short ride or drive away. Beautiful clear water and white soft sands.
Seahouses nearby for shopping eating drinking out lets and Farne island trips!
Room was comfortable and homely. As no one else was staying at the time I was , I was given access to the upstairs landing and bathroom. Highlight a bath too!
Guest area is clean and comfortable guests are given everything needed. Clean bedding and towels. Cereal for the morning and fridge to keep items in.
One of the house rules. No eating in the room and to eat in the sunroom provided.
- MISS HIRAL (8/5): - Wonderful stay, lovely hostess.
Would have been 5* from me if I hadn't found a total of 5 spiders in the room and bathroom.
- Will (8/5): - Very pleasant stay host very friendly and knowledgeable. And went above and beyond with home comforts .although booked accommodation only there was milk in the fridge, choice of cereal, chocolate biscuits in my room plenty of coffee ,tea and sugar. Washing up liquid and tea towel aswell as bowls cups and cutlery. plenty of plugs to charge your electricals beautiful scenery around too. Many thanks East house and Expedia very well organised and efficient.
See you again on my next adventure to Northumberland

- Shirley (8/5): - Quite easy to find, & handy for many of the cute villages on that coast.
The bed was comfortable, & the single room has its own bathroom with a good shower & a, very welcome, hot bath.
Tea, coffee, fresh milk & 2 types of cereal available.
Would use again if I was over on Northumberland's coast.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Shambles - Est House is a shambles. Skirting Boards, Window Sills, shelves were in need of a good scrub.Ingrained dirt in all the corners..The shower was not fit to use..
The only redeeming feature was, the bed was clean...Not to be recommended.
- diana (4/5): - Like staying in something out of Father Ted!
Brown, cold, surface clean only.
- Thomas (8/5): - Good value and comfortable accommodation in small village.
- Joanne (10/5): Excellent place just outside Beadnell. - East House is a lovely old property. We had a large room with a great view across farm fields (there were cows!), and the sea, you could also see Dunstanburgh castle in the distance. The host was really welcoming and friendly. Despite what it says in the description the beds are fully made up and there is a good supply of towels in the bathroom so you donβt need to bring sheets etc. nice touches in the room included a kettle, coffee, fresh milk, cereals, biscuits, shampoo, hair conditioner, soap etc. There is also a small fridge on the landing where you can store drinks and snacks. Definitely recommend this place, intend to stay again.
- David (10/5): Lovely experience - Really enjoyable two night stay. Wonderful welcome and the best single room I have ever stayed in. Beautiful location, great for visiting Beadnell, Seahouses and Bamburgh, but quiet and relaxing
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very clean and comfortable room. Very quiet and peaceful. Very friendly.
- Jeremy (8/5): - Nice quiet stay in the countryside
- Laureen (6/5): Golf trip stay over. - Nice and quiet location with lovely countryside views (sea in the distance).
Breakfast is basically some cereal left outside your door.
Shower is a mixer tap in the bath. Little headroom fir anyone talker than 5ft.
Generally a bit tatty around the edges.
Dirty porch and messy garden.
Car parking awkward.
Owners dogs do bark at times.
- Dorothy (10/5): - Very pleasant stay. A bit out dated. Very clean bed very comfortable. Would stay again.
- Tracy (10/5): - Had a lovely stay. A bit dated but quaint. And fantastic host. Will definitely stay again next time we venture to the area.. ππ
- Verified traveler (4/5): Requires improvement - Nice area and close by to popular site seeing areas. However, there was no heating at all throughout the property so it was extremely cold, especially during the night. Could improve on the cleaning, no service of rooms during the day to replenish anything used. Only breakfast available is cereal outside the rooms but no dining area to eat it. Could not see any smoke alarms upstairs or in the room which is worrying.
- IAN (8/5): Good stay enjoyed - Clean and tidy property with very helpful owner.
- Paul (8/5): - Good sized room, very clean. Nice to have easy chairs in the room.
- Andy (10/5): Very pleasant stay at East House - Very pleasant stay at East House this weekend. Needed a base locally for a wedding in Ellingham and East House was ideal. Very comfortable stay with off-street parking. Would happily recommend and stay again.
- Lysbeth (10/5): Friendly, well situated, comfortable b&b - Very friendly b&b, quiet comfortable room, very flexible breakfast set up (cereal and milk in a fridge provided that you can help yourself to at any time). Very well placed for exploring northumberland and close to the beach at Beadnell. Would definitely stay there again
- Pat (8/5): - We were self contained, had use of a fridge and a kettle. Cereals supplied as well as tea and coffee. We needed a port in a storm and found it there. Vanessa was very helpful.
- jonathan (10/5): - Warm welcome and highly recommended, only 1. 5 miles from the beach
- AMANDA (10/5): East House, Swinhoe - Lovely place to stqy. The lady who ran the Bed and Breakfast was so friendly. I would go there again next time I visit.
- Derek (10/5): - Lovely big homely room with nice view and ensuite with bath.
- Martin (10/5): Very Enjoyable Stay - Lovely remote accommodation, perfect for exploring the local areas. Very welcoming host and comfortable room.
Great value.
- Geoffrey (8/5): East House, Chathill. - This met our requirements as a base to explore the area.
For the price it is very good value.
Will likely stay here again.
Found the bed to be too soft.
As a light sleeper I found the road a little noisy with early morning traffic.
Generally I would rate this as very good and would have rated as excellent but for the two minor points above. (Which are a personal thing).
As said previously, we will stay again if in the area.
- Nicola (8/5): Well priced, comfy and good location - Vanessa was very friendly, she met us and explained their Covid rules before entering. We had a double room at the front with lovely countryside views. Very comfy bed and nicely decorated room. Tea and coffee in the cupboard with chocolate biscuits a nice touch (although we forgot to eat them) and a fridge on the landing containing plenty of milk with 3 different cereals on top. Not perfect condition but for what you pay it's well worth it. 1.5 miles from Beadnell, and 3 from Seahouses, it's a good base to walk from or get the bus nearby into local towns. Lots of places within about half an hour's drive too.
- Shirley (10/5): Spot on lovation - Perfect location, central easy to travel to and from
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Room I had was excellent and nothing but good comments to make. Vanessa was very helpful
- Kelvyn (10/5): stay at east house northumberland - very confortable and clean place to stay. friendly host. close to coast and good base to travel around. bus stop next to property where you can get a bus to travel as far up to berwick on tweed and as far south as newcastle via arnwick
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Nice relaxed stay. Very near to beach.
- Thomas (10/5): Home from home - A hidden gem of a B&B. Welcoming and friendly host, comfortable bed, perfect location. I booked a single and ended up with effectively a suite to myself containing a bedroom, landing, and bathroom. A range of cereals for breakfast and milk in the fridge on the landing. There is ample off street parking and you are within easy reach of so much of beautiful Northumberland. The establishment is also very covid conscious, which made me feel safe. Highly recommended.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Vanessa was a very welcoming host. We had an extremely comfortable stay. Large, light and well decorated and clean double room with views of the fields. If we were to visit the area again, we would definitely book into East House.
- Susan (8/5): You get what you pay for ! - The accommodation was basic and a short distance away from Beadnell but at a very good price.
Could be far better with a few updates !
A bonus was the use of a small fridge, which came in handy as there was just a variety of cereal for breakfast and fresh milk !
- Linda (8/5): - Have stayed here 3 years ago and had no hesitation about coming back. It's very clean and handy for the places we wanted to see. If we come back at any time in the future We will certainly be happy to stay again.
- Michael (8/5): - A very friendly place in a rural location near to sea and country. A good place to stay.
- George (6/5): - Disappointing . No clear sign on the property, hard to find. Parking very limited. Bath but no proper shower. Tea and coffe in cupboard so very dark. Not really breakfast, just cereal.
- Ian&Maria (10/5): - Lovely room in the heart of Northumberland
Spacious room comfy bed excellent shower and lovely view across the fields to the sea
Friendly host and ample parking
- NVigi (8/5): - The property was secure, clean, spacious and Vanessa was definitely the hostess with the mostess!
Unfortunately, there's a small problem with a smell from the drainage system in the bathrooms but it's slight, occasional and only in the bathroom.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Vanessa came to greet us and told us clearly about the property. The room was fantastic - big, clean and handy for travel to Beadnell and Seahouses.
- Mel (10/5): Would recommend a stay - Very friendly lady and very helpful, comfortable stay. Whilst condition was not tip top the price reflected that and was fair.
I would recommend the place.
- ZoeBayliss (10/5): - Fantastic Host. Perfect spot quiet for everything and lovely views of fields and the sea. Would highly recommended and will definitely come back. Lovely restaurants in Beadnell and Bamburgh a delight. Comfy beds perfect thank you !
- Chloe A. (10/5): Lovely stay at East House - thank you so much for a fantastic stay. the manager was absolutely lovely, very friendly and helpful, the location was great and the room was just what we wanted. would definitely recommend.
- Lewis (8/5): A puffin adventure - Very comfortable stay , the owner was lovely and welcoming. Location was a bit of a issue for shops and conveniences but it was expected!! Overall a lovely stay ... and I will return!!
- Lorraine (8/5): Our Road Trip round England - Stayed 2 nights the room was comfortable with good bathroom facilities. Well placed for getting into Seahouses for fish & chips, would recommend.
- Lynda (4/5): Disappointing - The host wasn't very welcoming after a very long trip there . Room and landing smelt damp. Also in bedroom next to wardrobe when toilet was flushed awful smell probably due to mascerator toilet. The shower has a big step down could do with grab rail
- David (6/5): B&B without breakfast! - Arrived to be told that breakfast consists of bowls in the room, with milk in the mini fridge on the landing with boxes of cereal on top and nowhere to sit and eat in the room.
A rundown feel, with a bed that creaked loudly with every move.
If you like a drink with your evening meal be prepared for a 3 mile walk along a busy main road.
We won't be back.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Location good for trips to the Farne Islands and for visiting Seahouses
- Verified traveler (6/5): Out in the countryside - Great views comfortable bed and room. Good location for touring
- christopher (10/5): Perfect county guest house - Very lovely place to stay and very quiet with only a 5 minute car drive to the beach, great little place to stay and the lady who owns it is very nice too
- Verified traveler (6/5): - strange breakfast procedure. Help yourself to cereals on the landing area.and eat in your bedroom. Bowl and spoon provided. As it happens breakfast was not required.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Cheap and cheerful - Great place to stay for a couple of daysstayed with my dog
- Verified traveler (8/5): A good location - Only had a 2 night stay. The location was good and we were able to get to places we wanted to see very easily. We were able to come and go as we pleased. The only downside is we couldn't get a proper, cooked breakfast although cereals were provided so we didn't go hungry. If we're ever back in the area we will certainly consider staying there again.
- ken (8/5): Great location - Suited us perfectly. Handy for visiting nearby beaches and resorts.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Very relaxing - great, warm, spacious, comfy, relaxed........................................................................................................................................................................................
- Ian (8/5): Convenient location in Great area - Room was nice and big - especially useful as we had the 2 dogs with us!
- Cornelia (8/5): Enjoy the country side of Northumberland - My partner and I enjoyed our stay but most of the time we were with friends who are living up there.
