Guest Reviews
- Jullie (9/5): Lou's Review - Good view...good location š...yupper's š No pāāl...
- Rex (9/5): - Nice older hotel just minutes from the canal.
- JOAN (5/5): Stayed one night, couldnāt imagine staying any longer - Was reasonable price Bathroom was tiny. Toilet is in need of repair. Room smelled funky.
- Lesley (5/5): - Alex at the front desk was very nice and helpful. The guy screaming at 730 am the broken glass door and the fridgerator was so loud.
- Jullie (9/5): 1 Day's Inn - Good location..yup..LeJ32.o26 No pool...
- Julie (5/5): - The price was reasonable and it was a good location being near the lake walk. Breakfast area was messy and the food scarce and only included some eggs, sausages, cereal and some yogurt.
There was a truck outside the door that had what appeared to be garbage in it and attracted many squirrels and seagulls. We had to walk by this every time we walked into the hotel.
The room was clean but the chair was stained and there was graffiti carved in the TP holder in the bathroom. The beds were really too hard.
- Tammy (9/5): -
- Peter (4/5): - The overall vibe of the staff was very weird and not very welcoming. The guy who checked me in at the front desk acted kind of annoyed, barely made eye contact, and was wearing visibly dirty clothes. The housekeeping staff also looked very disheveled and gave off a weird energy.
- Leona (7/5): - Conveniently located to university. Needs to be updated.
- D (9/5): -
- Heather (8/5): Convenient location on the East Side of Duluth - This hotel is conveniently located on the east side of Duluth near UMD and road to the North Shore. Good sized room. The staff were friendly and professional, offering advice and answering questions. It was a simple breakfast of yogurt, muffins, and cereal. But they did have coffee available 24/7.
- heatherlD4395JL (8/5): Good location & clean - Iād like the location of this hotel. Was conveniently located on the east side of Duluth and close to UMD. As well as taking a drive up to North Shore! The staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast was basic - yogurt, cereal, muffins & coffee.
- Jeanne Caroline (8/5): -
- Coastal17199999947 (10/5): Great Price & Clean - Hotel prices in Duluth are astronomical not this place, super friendly staff, and our room was clean and comfortable.

- Lamar (1/5): - Nothing Hotel
- Randy (9/5): -
- Julee (4/5): - Renovated rooms, friendly staff. Affordable rates. Close to the DECC. The breakfast area was outdated and not accurately represented in the pictures, the door to the room was old and damaged, the building seemed to be not cared for, behind the front desk the staff area appeared to be dirty. Layout was a little weird and hard to navigate. Not enough signage saying where lobby was. Seemed to be in a scetchy neighborhood.
- Wilson (6/5): -
- Sophia (1/5): HORRIBLE with no response from customer service. Blood on sheets and more - The man who checked us in was friendly. NEVER stay here. Worst experience I have ever had.
Toilet didn't flush, nor did the community toilet downstairs, fresh blood on our sheets, 6 people in room next-door yelling and banging the wall til 3 am.
I contacted summer service numerous times with 0 help--told me to reach out to the hotel directly and even hung up on me once. I reached out to the hotel directly multiple times and did not get a repsonse.
- Tina (1/5): -
- Robert (9/5): -
- Joanne (7/5): -
- Christine (7/5): have stayed here a few times and will likely stay again in the future. Is a good location - bed was comfortable the breakfast muffins could be better
- Debra (9/5): Great place. Will stay there again! - Everything was great!! Thank you! Cannot think of anything
- Dale (8/5): -
- Joy (6/5): Check out was a breeze.. feel like I was overcharged - Not much.. breakfast was fairly unremarkable and the place it is served in was a mess Our room was on the 1st floor.. great cause there was no elevator. Cars were parked right outside the rooms. Had a group of men outside down a couple of parking spaces.. just "hanging out" I guess? They were out there for a few hours but not sure what they were doing? I really started to feel uncomfortable about it. Don't understand why they were there
- David (10/5): It served our purpose. - Location, quietness. Breakfast was okay, and appreciated, but could always be a little better.
- Anika (8/5): -
- Joseph (5/5): - The room was OK. NO ELEVATOR! My wife is physically impaired and stairs are a big problem.
- Anthony (10/5): Comfort and rest in a decent room ! - Overnight stay after long drive in from Mora. Than walking around the grounds near and around Grandmas bar and grill, there in Duluth. Had an amazing day in Duluth as always. We got to our room, we fell asleep by 7pm ! Comfortable and best of all, WINDOWS THAT OPEN FOR VENTALATION, VERY IMPORTANT, A MUST FOR US ! THANKS FOR A GOOD NIGHTS REST ! We didnāt get a waffle breakfast as pictured and in the amenities.
- Paul (8/5): -
- Barb (9/5): - The breakfast was good. Convenient location. The room had an odd smell to it.
- JOEL (9/5): -
- Mistletoe (3/5): We just used the hotel to sleep - Location of hotel Dirty carpeting on the stairs and the hallway. Was there on a Friday and the dirt in the carpets were not cleaned until Monday. The glass pane overlooking the lake was dirty. The ice machine was dirty one would be scared to get their ice from there.. we did try breakfast. The breakfast room could do a bit of cleaning as well.
- shauna (4/5): -
- Laura (8/5): -
- Alex (6/5): - Good location. Facilities are a little dated.
- G4530KOamberw (10/5): Great stay! Dogs allowed! - It was a great stay! Dog friendly hotel, only paid $40 extra for him, he is 85 pounds. Comfortable bed. All the lights worked. Mini fridge and microwave was in room. Nice alarm clock and phone at bedside. Heater/AC unit was quiet and not noisy at all! Atmosphere was great, we rented a king size room, didn't hear a peep from anyone else. Will definitely come again!
- Milligan (8/5): It was comfortable with convenient. - It was a clean, comfortable place to stay across the street from the surgery center. The breakfast was meager and the juice machine wasn't functioning properly. We notified the attendant and he replaced a container, but it still didn't work. It was comfortable and co
- Brad (7/5): -
- Amy (3/5): - Not much Over priced for the age of the hotel
- michaelhJ545RO (8/5): Very close to UMD. - If you're coming to town to drop off or pick up your college student, then this is the place.
The hotel (more like a motel) is somewhat dated and not up to the standards of the last Days Inn that we stayed in.
But for the price and proximity to UMD it was okay.
We didn't even try the coffee but the room was good enough for our needs.
We already made our breakfast plans and knew our coffee options.
It didn't have an ick or a yuk to the room, just dated but it was clean.
There are plenty of better places to stay in Duluth for business or pleasure. This hotel isn't that place.
But if you need a clean place close to UMD to pick up your student this will do.
- Melissa (3/5): - Our room faced the parking lot and there was only a sheer curtain covering the window. No privacy. Headlights shined right in our window and people could easily see in. My son left his AirPods plugged in in the room and the staff said they didnāt find them. He is a responsible human being and I know they were there when we left. I donāt appreciate dishonesty.
- Daniel (2/5): Not very restful. - The price was good and the view of Lake Superior was also nice. The breakfast was sufficient. There was a dog with a high pitched bark in the room across the hall and my wife and I had to speak fairly loud to be heard over the dog barking. The dog barked the majority of the time from 6:30pm until well after 9pm. The bark dog really put a damper on the whole evening.
Then in the morning there was a staff member who was cleaning and he was clearly angry about something and was grumbling out loud occasionally yelling and calling someone (assuming a fellow staff member) a hypocrite.

- Matthew (7/5): -
- Angela (7/5): -
- Abdinur (4/5): -
- Monica (10/5): - Quiet and clean Nothing
- William (7/5): -
- Johnson (8/5): -
- judi (7/5): - our room was nicely decorated andwell equiped Stairs to get to room were difficult for me as I have a walker
- Harold (8/5): -
- Mary (6/5): - There was a dog that barked at 2am and 4:30 am. Could here a baby crying at 11:30 pm. No Mat in the shower little shampoo no conditioner.
- Joyce (6/5): - Good staff, clean room. No elevator.
- Elfrieda (2/5): Wouldnāt stay there again - Not much Hallways were dirty. Breakfast was awful. Coffee tasted like Javax. Messy counters.
- Explorer10221832449 (8/5): Great room view was not exactly lake view which I asked for. Breakfast was not much of a choice. Staff were amazing!! - The room was great, staff at front desk were amazing. Kind of disappointed in the breakfast. Not much to choose from. Overall it was a very nice hotel.
- Lynn (10/5): - Lovely clean room
- David (9/5): - Very comfortable bed.Friendly staff. Free breakfast and location...NO in-room coffee. That is a must for us.
- Rebecca (10/5): - Staff was friendly upon check in, but no one at front desk when we checked out, so was unable to get a receipt. It's called lake walk, but it is about a 10 minute walk to the lake walk.
- Pendroy (7/5): We would have stayed the hole week if it was $80 a night - Good content $300 a night is to much for a room in a hotel that is not full
- JoAnn (8/5): - Building is very dated and feels a bit dingy, but room was clean and bed was comfortable. The one employee I interacted with was friendly. Breakfast and amenities are limited. I only chose this hotel because the hotel I usually stay at was unavailable. I had a nice enough stay, but wouldn't choose to stay here again unless it was all that was available.
- Elaine (7/5): - Rooms were updated and clean. Common areas were bare and breakfast was not good. Outdoor stairs.
- Sherry (6/5): Even though there was road construction, that was a plus in my opinion as there was minimal traffic so easy coming & - Location & friendly staff It was dirty & room never got cleaned/I ended up throwing out my own trash daily.
- KathyS1203 (8/5): Mattress - Basic room and amenities are provided. Room was clean. Mattress is very uncomfortable. Would not stay more than 1 night. Parking lot is very tight on a busy road.
- Diane (7/5): - Ice machine broken no soap dish for the bar soap. Bath towel was very small.
- bryan (8/5): - Our room was clean and spacious. Refrigerator and microwave worked well. We had a pretty good view of lake superior and weren't that far from the lakewalk. There was nothing hot for breakfast options but did have cereal-bagels-muffins and yogurt. We enjoyed our stay.
- Hillukka (7/5): - Conveinent. Fairly Clean. Outdated. Tub doesn,t drain well. Breakfast is t sparse. Pricet is reasonable for Duluth at current time. In reality it is a $75-80 . Value going for over a hundred. Good if you just need a place to sleep. Tub didnt drain. Microwave was glitchy in ooeration. Rooms and plumbing outdated. Breakfast is spatse to none.
- Christina (8/5): - Room was outdated, sauna was broken, parking area was littered
- Laura (2/5): - .
- Margaret (6/5): - The hotel was easy to find and affordable, but access to our room from the lobby/breakfast area was difficult, especially with an older adult with mobility issues. The breakfast was very limited.
- Sherree (10/5): - Staff check-in was kind, friendly and very quick
- Trisha (10/5): - We arrived later at night and the front counter staff person was very welcoming and friendly. The spaces and room were clean and stocked. We were asked by house keeping, while passing in the hall, if we needed a restock on anything as they donāt usually stock daily. Everyone was very kind and the location was near the lake with options for eating nearby. We will be back.
- neesejoct11 (8/5): Clean comfortable room. - We stayed for 3 nights. We wanted that end of town so we could easily go north up the north shore to sightsee. It was close, within 3 miles to 2 beautiful parks that we hiked both sides of the gorge/creek. That was a nice surprise. Beds were very comfortable. No odor to the room or hallways. Staff at check-in was friendly. Weekends have a hot breakfast that included eggs and sausage. During the week it's just dry cereal, bagels, hard boiled eggs, and yogurt. Some items were running low each day. There didn't appear to be a person designated to keep the room cleaned and stocked. The pressure of the shower was strong and no matter how you placed the shower curtain it managed to dribble down the side by the door. It was obvious this has been a problem as the door frame showed water damage. The door leading into the bathroom is narrow as well. The hotel repeatedly sent texts encouraging you to let them know if you needed anything, also about preregistration for checking in and an estimated check out time. They do a great job of communicating. The main road in front had a detour so it was quiet while we were there, not sure if that's the case otherwise. The outside of the building could look a little more appealing. The parking lot in front allowed for a lot of cars, but was tight when trying to leave.
- Mary (10/5): - Nice rooms and convenient location.
- Jason (4/5): - The tv had no signal and could not get it to work. There only breakfast options was pre packaged muffins, some fruit and dry cereal that was all over the counter.
- Stacey (6/5): -
- Arnie (6/5): - Night staff was great morning staff was poor!!
Breakfast was very poorly attended to and overall poor!!
- Cherry (5/5): -
- Brian (8/5): Nice place to stay, but no elevator - Clean room | helpful staff | air conditioned | free breakfast | three floors and no elevator
- Jenny (6/5): 3 1/2 out of 5āļø I would stay again. - Clean room, comfy bed, hot water Dirty breakfast area and it was from the night before. Lobby could be cleaned and more inviting/ appealing Take an old toothbrush to bottoms of bathrooms sinks for gunk. Clean stairs with professional cleaning machine. Just maintain daily maintenance for more pristine look then the place would be spectacular!
- mayerjen4 (8/5): Room was clean. Breakfast area was not good. Front desk area needs some inviting space. 3-4 stars āļø - Not toshabby 4price area.Room was decent clean, comfy enough bed,hot water.Breakfast area dirty! From night before.
- Strong (8/5): -
- Timothy (8/5): - Continental breakfast was pretty lame cold cereal and plain bagels, English muffins and yogurt. The pictures on the website showed waffles and a lot more pretty disappointed.
- Craig (8/5): - 3rd floor lake side rooms have good view of Lake Superior harbor, and I believe most or all rooms here are dog friendly. Included breakfast was fine / good enough.
- Rubysun80 (8/5): -
- Carl (10/5): - Breakfast was limited.
- Mary (8/5): it was our 60th wedding anniversary and we had hoped for a Lake view⦠we booked too late! - Good Value for the price of the room
- Gwen (8/5): - Friendly staff greeting and accommodating. Would stay here again.
