Anditer (9/5): Colonial Latin American luxury. - A stay here will give you a modernized taste of colonial Latin American luxury. Gorgeous throughout - almost like staying in a museum. The staff is amazing, and breakfast is wonderful and plentiful. Rodrigo at the front desk is exceptionally attentive. The hotel is near many of the great restaurants and shopping areas in the city. The only thing I would have loved to see is a lockbox in the room. When traveling internationally, it is wise to leave almost everything in the room when out and about, and knowing you can lock your valuables securely gives priceless peace of mind. Several hotels where we've stayed in Ecuador provide a simple wood cabinet with a deadbolt-that would be sufficient.

carlos (10/5): 5 stars - Top notch staff & service. Clean rooms, big beds, wifi, we did laundry, we did couples massages, free breakfast in the restaurant attached to it. Safe neighborhood, close to shopping and transportation. Rodrigo did an amazing job. Transport to Quito airport provided.

You can’t even use the sauna or hot tub without paying extra and making a booking. We had laundry done and they lost 2 items and destroyed another. No discount was given

The hotel support local initiatives (like coffee production, handycrafts, artisanal soaps, etc.) If you look for a quiet room better you ask in advance because a few rooms are on the side of the street and it can be a bit noisy during the morning (when cars or trucks are passing by)

Ine (7/5): Nice hotel but fairly empty and spa is not included - The staff is friendly and the hotel is located in the centre of Riobamba. They gave us a free boxed lunch which was really nice. We did not know that we needed to reserve the spa in advance and that you needed to pay for it in addition to the room fee (they did not tell us in advance). There was a bit of mold on the bathroom wall.

Paul (7/5): Good - This was the second room, which was much better, after I asked them to move me. The staff were very helpful and courteous in getting me moved to a room that was quiet. Probably the best staff I have encountered. Make sure you specify a room deeper in back, away from the main entrance/lobby. ... Or you will hear EVERYTHING. Floors are extremely slippery, especially if you are only wearing socks. Breakfast was STILL off... Juice was watered down, bread/buns were stale, and the yogurt and cheese tasted off. My brother said the coffee tasted off as well. (I don't drink coffee.) There was only one outlet with easy access for charging devices, and that was in the bathroom.
Paul (5/5): Passable - Neat and a lot of character. 2nd room was much better than the first, but also in a very different part of the hotel. Had to change rooms. 1st room I could hear EVERYTHING. Road noise (understandable) but the lobby fountain, conversations in the lobby, silverware getting dumped at 10:30 at night, and the incessant muzak being played seemed to be amplified through the walls. My window was a view into the hallway and was covered by an old changing barrier on the outside. Breakfast was off.... The juice was watered down, the bread was stale. The yogurt and cheese tasted off.
Celia Roxane (8/5): - We stayed here because it was recommended in the 2022 Lonely Planet. The property was beautiful, the room was cramped as the Loenly Planet mentioned. Everything was clean and staff were very attentive. We visited the spa twice, which is only open by appointment right now. I thought it was overpriced, but it was very pretty and clean. It was $44 for use of the jacussi for 2 hours and $55 for jacuzzi with the two saunas. We also did a couple massage which was $80 total. That was already, I wouldn't do it again. The parking was a little inconvenient but it was still nice to have safe parking. There is a gate in the back of the property that they have to open for you to put the car into. The free breakfast is great. Overall I would recommend this place.

Tom (4/5): Disappointing - Great beds and shower, great food. Reply to apology of the management: I am a genious level 3 traveler at Booking.com and have booked about 15 bookings this year. As a genious member we were eligible to a bigger room free upgrade by booking. First thing your receptionist says is if we Can take a normal twin room instead of saying welcome. That was fine enough we did not really need the triple room. We arrived at 14:00 and despite being a FOUR star hotel with “SPA” in the name it is impossible to book a massage the same night according to the receptionist. When we ask to have dinner later, he says you are fully booked and it is not possible. This truly makes you feel unwelcome and disrespected as a new arriving guest who booked 24 hours before! After we express our disappointment, the receptionist says we can eat at 17:30 and no later. We say that is way too early and after chatting back and forth 19:30 is ok. After we went for a walk in the city we came back around 18:00. We did not remember the room number but gave our booking information. Part if the staff looks 4 seconds at the computer and gives us the room key of other guests. We go back and solve this. We planned to find a massage place close by but the receptionist tells us he found a solution and we can have massage at 18:30 and 19:30, 1 hour each. All of a sudden diner at 20:30 is no problem. When asked the price he says 14 and my friend shows hand signs 10+4 to be sure. We dont need to sign anything to confirm on paper. The massage was good but starts 30 min late. We eat at 21:00 no issue for a table. Food is good. We explain we will be picked at 7:30. Receptionist says no problem breakfast start at 7. Next morning we go down to the main Hall at 6:55 to pay the bill. We need to discuss about massage that now costs 40 USD a scam price for Ecuador price level. Nobody is ready to serve breakfast at 7:00. Staff just arriving, we can start breakfast at 7:20. I appreciate the apologies and that we solve the price of the massage.

Matt (10/5): - Very nice stay in this beautiful classic building. We had a king suite which came with double sink, shower and a soaking bathtub in the suite. Nice big comfortable king bed. The staff were always very friendly. Food at the restaurant was very nice. The hotel is right in the center of riobamba, 10 minute stroll to the main strip of restaurants and bars/clubs. 2 minutes from the central park and the train station. Very safe town, had a great time. Would definitely stay here again.

Nos hospedamos en la parte nueva y el dormitorio excelente tal cual las fotos y cómo lo esperábamos! La única recomendación es que no pongan desayuno buffet si no existe! Nos esperábamos esa modalidad al desayuno y no fue así!

Was really no restaurant so the team improvised but would have been better just not open the restaurant. Charles (10/5): Clean, quiet and convenient to train station - The Mansion Santa Isabella (MSI) is well over 100 years old but it has been refurbished nicely. You can often tell the age and wear of a hotel by the bathroom. But the MSI bathroom is very modern with a Scandanavian touch. The main entry and reception area is colonial Spanish style. There is continuing work on the lower level but it isn’t apparent to guests. The hotel is very quiet. We selected the hotel because it is only two blocks from the train station where we booked “Tren del Hielo” trip to Chimborazo and the hotel let us park our car, leave the bags in our room and check out when we returned to Riobamba at 2:30 from the train excursion. The manager is very knowledgeable about the history of Riobamba and the hotel’s place in that history. Very interesting.

Andrea (8/5): Short overnight stay - Arrived late and left early the next morning. Person at the reception was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is buffet style including lots of fresh fruit, juices and even seeded bread which I had not come across in any other hotel. Rooms look nice. Bathroom could have been a little bit cleaner. There was a heavy smell of deodorizer in the room. Overall ok, but I found it to be a little bit overpriced.
