- Maipambe (7/5): Good, but not worth the price - Extremely helpful staff and I appreciated that it had a gym, although super basic. The food from the menu was not good but breakfast was great. Meats were tough, including chicken Ikr!. They also frequently hosted companies which made the environment unpleasant, busy and chaotic. Also, that price is crazy for a hotel in Chipata.. like calm down

- Ndhlabule (7/5): I checked out of your hotel on Saturday 3 January 2026. On check out, my Discovery Credit card was declined twice for re - Located on Main Street Flies and cockroaches on walls and behind units.
- Janice Khan (8/5): Staff were very helpful and friendly, Good options of food on the menu. - Breakfast was great, lovely options. Excellent location. Our waiters were wonderful. Rooms and beds were small for our family. They added an extra mattress for our little one which was great, and we appreciated this so much. Bathrooms and amenities are outdated.

- Celia (10/5): Exceptional hotel! - Amazing hotel with outstanding customer service. We’re from Australia and on bicycles. We were warmly welcomed the moment we arrived and made to feel special! The food was exceptional! Dinner and breakfast surpassed our expectations. We’ve been travelling for 4 years so it was a lovely surprise ( congratulations to the chef!) The only negative comment is that the location on google maps is incorrect so we ended up cycling an extra 10 kms ! However just a minor point as the hotel certainly was a 10/10 for us.

- Ivasco80 (7/5): A good choice in Chipata. - Nice place with a restaurant attached, decent cleanliness although I did find a few insects (but that's not really the place's fault). Great location, right at the start of Chipata when coming from Lusaka. The staff are friendly and helpful. Overall, it's definitely one of the best, if not the best hotel around. Nothing in particular, just keep in mind that any issues that might come up aren't really the hotel's fault but more due to the context (e.g., electricity not being available at certain times). You also can't expect full services considering the area and situation (e.g., no decaf coffee, non-alcoholic beers, or veg milk), but nothing that really detracts from the place itself.
- Francis (10/5): francis - everything nothing

Location is convenient. The bar has limited wine selection or stock. Including running out of the house wine!
The pool area looks unkempt and not relaxing as one would want.

- justine (10/5): - Qiuet clean environment. Friendly staff..
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great stay - Compared to some of the other places we'd stayed during our travels through Africa, the beds and rooms were quite comfortable and the showers were absolutely splendid. In June we were a bit chilly in the dining room, the dining room opens to the bar/lounge which opens to the pool area. Some sliding glass doors would be nice there.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The staff were very polite and attentive, great customer service! The premises are beautiful and well taken care of. The room’s bathroom had a stale smell and I thought I smelled cigarette smoke at one point (the staff kept it clean it has more to do with ventilation )
- Verified traveler (10/5): Made to feel most welcome - Our second stay at this property within a month, staff greeted us as friends. Due to a political disturbance in Malawi we had been unable to reach the hotel on the original booking date and cancelled after the deadline but the unusual circumstances were taken into consideration and we did not have to pay twice.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Best Hotel in the Area - It was a great stay, staff are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was full buffet with eggs made to order. Absolutely delicious. Only thing I would hope for is for rooms that have 2 queen beds.
- Benson (10/5): - Great place. Easy to find. The staff by the reception was really helpful. Thank you
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Nice to be Next to a mall. Internet was off on off on, poor Internet.
- Daniel (10/5): Friendly service and very good hotel. - I enjoyed this hotel with both the service and overall condition of the hotel itself. It is in a good surroundings, the staff are very helpful and friendly. I will definitely stay there on my next trip.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Pleasurable Stay - The staff at the Protea Hotel were exceptional. Very friendly and made me feel like a VIP. Excellent breakfast and I enjoyed my stay with them.
