- Alex (10/5): - My stay was great! Genuinely would be coming back to this place, it’s walking distance from the ace gondola/ welcome center, as well as walking distance from the downtown area, making it a solid base. Hotel staff were friendly and helpful, and breakfast was super solid too.
- Robert Kai Fu (10/5): - Definitely recommended if you going for winter sports during winter season. They provide their own winter sports equipments rental and they also have free shuttle to and from few of the ski area nearby. We really enjoy our breakfast everyday when we are there.
- Rachael (10/5): Everything was perfect for our ski trip - Perfectly located for accessing the slopes, 2min walk to the Ace gondola or regular shuttle bus to pop you up there. Really friendly staff, and super helpful in the ski concierge. So easy, arrived and our ski passes waiting for us, the ski rental équipement space just by reception. It made the ski trip so incredibly easy. The room was great, corner 1 bedroom room, super clean, really comfy beds, spacious and with a great view of mount Yotei. It’s within easy walking distance of all the shops and restaurants and cool food truck area. Really nice buffet breakfast too and nice peaceful onsens, which were never busy. If we came again for skiing we’d definitely stay here. Thanks for a great stay

The hotel has all the amenities required for the most wonderful stay. Breakfast has everything you can imagine, very tasty (I especially like the miso soup and healthy options available). Hirafu snowboard base is less than 5min walk up the hill and then after you can enjoy nice onsen before bedtime. Would definitely come stay again in the future.

- Yat Pang (8/5): - Everything was perfect especially the crews. They were always ready to offer their help. The breakfast was a set instead of a buffet but the variety was wide enough and it covered almost everything. No complaints. The only thing they can improve was the differences between the breakfast on the 1st and 2nd day. The breakfast was a bit cold on the 2nd day. Also, we were brought to another room for breakfast because the main room was full and the room was a bit stuffy. The staff seemed not too familiar with the set as well. I needed to tell him what was missing.

- Guanson (10/5): Perfect hotel in perfect location - The location is perfect whether you are at Hirafu for skiing or exploring the town. All the staff were very helpful and almost everyone spoke good english. My family had a half board package and food was excellent especially their brealfast. I will definitle go back to this hotel if i have to back in Hirafu. I cannot think of any negative concern because everything was perfect including the room, onsen and facilities. If i have to complain then it would be the price. But then we came in at peak season so all hotels in Hirafu are ridiculously high. Kudos to all the staff and management.

- Susan (10/5): - This has got to be one of the best hotels in Niseko Hirafu area. The hotel was amazingly comfortable and the staff were extraordinarily accommodating. They helped us celebrate our honeymoon by greeting us with a bottle of champagne, and then four days later, they celebrated my husband’s birthday with another bottle of champagne (unrequested! They just noticed his birthday on his check in information! Amazing attention to detail). The staff was always friendly and willing to help with whatever we needed. The hotel restaurant is delicious and the hotel breakfast buffet (included with our room) has to be the best hotel breakfast we have ever enjoyed. I legitimately woke up excited to go to breakfast each morning, and I’m not typically a big breakfast eater! The accommodations of the hotel were very comfortable. The beds left us with no complaints, the rooms completely black out with the curtains, and the housekeeping keeps everything spotless. The location of the hotel can’t be beat. Literally a one block walk to the ski lift, but the hotel will happily shuttle you as well! As well as all the amazing restaurants in the Hirafu area just being steps away from your door. Also, if you need to rent ski or snowboard gear, I can’t recommend the Ski Concierge at Chalet Ivy highly enough. The fleet of demo gear they have as an option is outstanding. Didn’t feel like rentals!! If and when we visit Niseko Hirafu area again, we will definitely be back at the Chalet Ivy!

- jaclyn (10/5): - Was wow-ed the moment I stepped into the property. Small, cozy but tastefully designed. Rooms were of a decent size. Good spread for morning breakfast. Lovely, spotless in-house onsen (although it can feel a bit creepy as most times, I was the only person there. Would have been great if there was soft piped-in music, but I reckon that might not be the Japanese way). The best parts of the property were 1) its staff especially Rou Hang. She was extremely welcoming and helpful. Our stay was made so much more pleasant and comfortable due to her. Thank you Rou Hang!; 2) the complimentary shuttle service. While close to the gondola base, it would have been tough to walk there with all our gear. The hotel also provided a scheduled shuttle service between 5.30pm-9(?)pm to the Kutchan area. This expanded our dinner options greatly as food while plentiful in Hirafu Village, was expensive and likely unavailable if you didn't make reservations months in advance! PS: The hotel is also just a stone's throw away from Tonzanken. Best ramen in Hirafu. But be prepared to wait in line!

The room was spacious and there were plenty of in-room amenities that are so thoughtful. The onsen was wonderful and clean, especially loved the outdoor onsen. The service was top-notched, all the staff were super helpful and the shuttle service was so convenient to bring guests back and forth the ski area or Kutchan station, it was basically on demand and not limited to a fixed schedule. - Sean (10/5): Domo Arigato Chalet Ivy and a hui hou - What a beautiful location, nestled right at the base of Grand Hirafu with amazing views morning noon or night. Easy 5 minute walk up the hill to the lifts or a quick shuttle ride from the hotel to the lifts or Hirafu base gondola. Convenient ski concierge for quick in and out with a ski locker. Staff was very friendly and helpful and willing to make restaurant reservations. Best to call ahead to arrange airport transportation (our shuttle request got lost in somewhere in the interweb and we had to scramble the day of our arrival to arrange a taxi from the airport. Which wasn't too expensive either, but the bus is quick and easy). Onsen and Private Onsen available and both were amazing. Great masseuse as well. And the best fully loaded breakfast you can ask for. Overall, I would definitely stay here again and will do so in the near future. Niseko and the Japowpow are already calling me back. Didnt try restaurant but breakfast good from the view of a westerner in Japan, though not the abundance youd get in for example Scandinavia. Onsen was nice as well and not horrendously priced. Only downside was that it was tricky to fine tune the room heating. Location very good with 5min walk to the chair and at the same time lots of f&b options around the corner. Would absolutely consider this property again.

- Verified traveler (4/5): - Overall the hotel has the potential to be a great hotel. Good location, good amenities, and eager staff. That said there is clearly a critical issue with management / ownership. Staff are not empowered and are clearly misguided. They are focused on things like charging for plastic key cards but don’t have the tools (and have been denied!) like a door stop to deliver luggage. Concierge was asked to book a table and we received an email saying ok no problem it’s done - only to mean they emailed the restaurant to ask - and we were then not notified the restaurant said they had no availability. The lobby bar almost made it awkward to order a drink. In short - staff tries very hard to accommodate but the underlying poor management holds them back and the result is an overall bad experience.

We never had to walk to the lifts as the hotel runs a seemingly never ending shuttle service between the hotel and the bottom of the lifts which we never had to wait more than a couple of minutes for. Breakfast was good quality and had a good range for the size of the hotel. Would stay here again.

We got a room facing Hirafu so we had a great view. I suggest to others to get hirafu or mt yotei view room so thay they can enjoy the view. It was fun watching skiers from the hirafu view room. It was an experience itself. Room is clean, and new. Front desk staff speak great English, so no language barrier there. We had an early flight the next day and they even prepared breakfast boxes for us. Luggage were brought to our room with ease (unlike some hotels you have to do it yourself). Breakfast area is quite small so it was kinda crowded. But food was good. Overall i enjoyed our stay at hotel and will definitely recommend to others.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - After having a disappointing experience in the snow last time, I did a lot of research and found this place. I highly recommend a stay here. We are a young family with a toddler and our stay was thoroughly enjoyable. Rooms Large rooms, enormous bed with a firm mattress and a selection of pillows. We required a cot, this was well made with warm bedding for our toddler. There is central heating (cannot control) and panel heating on the wall (can adjust). I feel the cold and had no problem with the heating in the room. The bathroom, was excellent! There isn't a bath, but our toddler had no problem in the shower, as it is fully enclosed. They supplied L'occitane products for use. They also supply a smartphone for use during your stay, amazing bonus! Location Excellent! We walked everywhere we needed, easy walk to multiple chairlifts. We walked to all restaurants down the hill, about a 5min walk. There is a supermarket at the bottom of the hill, about 5min walk or a pharmacy/supermarket a couple of doors down. The hotel also provides a shuttle bus, we used this for collection and drop off at the Welcome Centre when we arrived. Onsen I used the private onsen. There is a charge, but the public onsens are free to use. I highly recommend it, amazing after a day on the slopes! Breakfast We had the buffet breakfast each day. There were many options to choose from, including Japanese and Western options. Staff were excellent and very attentive. We look forward to returning soon:-)

Only one minor negative feedback is that the laundry drying machine take too long to dry. Perhaps it is not meant to dry big load. Other than that, we are very happy to stay at Chalet Ivy. One more comment is that the "old fellow" who managed the ski rental shop within the Chalet was very helpful. And he provided genuine advice to us where to go for lesson on beginner slopes based on the actual snow condition in the area! Over all, we are very satisfied to stay at Chalet Ivy.
