Guest Reviews
- Philip (7/5): -
- Paula (9/5): Loved this hotel and the area was perfect for a night x - Loved the bar, restaurant and court yard it was so relaxing and the staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was really good. Wish it was nearer to where I lived it would certainly be a favourite for me. The rooms were too hot.
- Helen (1/5): Possibly the worst room I've ever stayed in - terribly stained carpet, dirty bathroom etc - N/a I have an ongoing complaint in place so do not feel like adding more.
- Robert (9/5): Pleasant stay - Nice clean and comfortable bedroom although a little small for both bedroom and en suite. Nice restaurant with a good menu to choice from. Steep staircase
- DONNA (9/5): Perfect stopover for all of us!! - Lovely situation
Dig friendly- even provide dog breakfast
Room very comfortable
- Stuart (9/5): -
- Jones (8/5): Enjoyed my stay it served my purpose well - The staff were very pleasant a helpful the bedroom was pleasant with a comfortable bed lovely hot shower The stairs are a tad steep but then it’s an old building and I am quite old
- Roberta (10/5): Excellent - Comfortable good position for exploring. Excellent food and service. Interesting
- David (6/5): - The rooms were warm and comfortable and the breakfast was excellent There is no bin in the room apart for a small one in the bathroom, and there's no corner shelf in the shower cubicle to put soap and shampoo on.
- Christopher (9/5): - Comfortable and clean. Big breakfast
- Everard (9/5): Wonderful dog friendly staff who took the time to chat to us and our dog. - Friendly staff, location High tables and stools in the bar area. As this area was dog friendly not practical. Also I’m small and difficult to get on the stools.
- creswell (9/5): - The restaurant is what makes this hotel.
The decor, the food, the staff AMAZING!
Bedroom amenities were spot on. The bedroom decor seemed dull and dated in comparison to the restaurant.
The shower bracket is broke and wont stay in place.
The hairdryer keeps cutting out after seconds of use.
Bed is very low.
- Feppy (8/5): -
- Emma (5/5): -
- Isabel (7/5): - Breakfast Wear and tear
- Paul (8/5): Meeting with my family in Brewood the Lion Hotel was an ideal overnight stay. - The Lion hotel was ideally situated for my visit to Brewood. The bedroom was adequately furnished and the en suite bathroom was clean and toiletries were provided. The breakfast options were great and satisfying. The staff were welcoming and courteous, I would consider staying at the Lion again. My only negative comment would be that the bedroom was hot, though the sash window was openable and a fan was provided in the bedroom.
- Christel (8/5): - Sehr zentral Parkplatz recht weit vom Haus entfernt
- Laura (8/5): Nice Brekkie! - Lovely property, great breakfast
- Lucy (9/5): - Location was very pretty, food was excellent, room was beautiful and clean, bed was comfy The room was very warm so I didn't sleep all that well, stairs are quite precarious if you have trouble with them (we don't but they could cause trouble if up the top), staff on Sunday morning weren't the most friendly but then, it's not the favourite shift, I suppose, amd there was only instant coffee but other than these small things, it was great
- Phillip (8/5): Friendly attentive staff and good food - Staff were excellent, good food and a nice town Bed was a bit too soft for us.
- DavrosF (5/5): Generally fine but needs some TLC - The location, in the middle of the village was great. The breakfast was very good. The shower was good. The room was extremely hot (in early May) even though the radiator was not hot. At night we had to open the window wide, but the room remained hot. Was it above the kitchen?
The carpet on the stairs and landing in the corridors was dirty and tired. The carpet in the bedroom was badly stained.
- Kate (7/5): - Great location. The village is really pretty. There was a mechanical fan noise outside that kept going on and off all night which made it difficult to sleep.
- Amie (4/5): Staff were very rude and lacked basic customer service skills. - Location Ignorant and incompetent staff. Cleanliness .
- Andrea (9/5): -
- Chris (10/5): Beautiful, will be visiting again - Beautiful location and property The stairs!
- Matt (10/5): - Meg and Holly are brilliant! Lovely food! Lack of parking - I have restricted mobility with a blue badge. No lift or catapult available!
- Meadley (7/5): Other than the parking, everything was great. - Very friendly staff. Exceptionally clean. It is advertised as free parking? The parking is about 300 yards away in a public car park that was full. We tried to park in the square, outside the hotel and the free car park to no avail. It took us 40 mins to find one.
- Louise (9/5): Very nice - Location lively. Good breakfast and very helpful staff. Room was a bit too warm.
- sherran (9/5): - Excellent breakfast. Parking a bit of an issue
- Gary (8/5): -
- Andrea (7/5): Hassle free overnight stay - On site restaurant - great food
Car parking Very steep and windy staircase up to room
- BERNADETTE (10/5): Wonderful - Best breakfast ive had Only providing instant coffee was a surprise given the quality of the rest or the breakfast.
- Helen (9/5): Comfortable. Cosy. Excellent service and food - Charming location. Comfortable. Excellent service from staff
- Peter (10/5): We will be coming back and recommending - Food and rooms were excellent. Staff really friendly and the ppl from the area aswell Nothing
- Sam (8/5): Lovely place, enjoyable stay, fantastic restaurant - Great restaurant, brilliant service, lovely food and breakfast Terrible shower, water pressure would drop and change temp constantly. Rubbish coffee for breakfast. No parking.
- Lucy (10/5): -
- Jary (8/5): Great place to stay, warm reception and cute rooms with character. - it was a lovely room, they let us check in earlier and have the key even though we couldn't get in the room until after the wedding we were attending, which was very helpful. Breakfast was lovely. My room was cold when i got back and i couldn't get any heating to work. It would be good to have been able to have a proper coffee with breakfast, instead of being told we would be charged extra for it.
- jean (9/5): - Friendly staff. Excellent food. Bed wasn't very comfortable and had bits falling off
- Pauline (9/5): Great location for an Easter break - The location is great, right in the village centre, made to feel welcome with our bikes, no issues storing them in the courtyard.
The breakfasts are huge and great quality.
Comfortable beds and plenty of hot water in the showers It's an old building and it was storm David, so some rattling of the windows
The people above us were very noisy at 2am which woke us up and there is nobody on duty overnight
If you had option of making your own hot drinks at breakfast, it would be quicker, and we often like more than one hot drink, which wasnt offered either day
- Raymond (8/5): Excellent location and very clean Be warned there are stairs to the rooms But otherwise very good - Location and the character Stairs
- GrumpyUK (8/5): Enjoyable. - Very nice, clean room. Nice food, large breakfast. Friendly staff. Would be happy to return in the future.
- Ann (9/5): Comfortable hotel with restaurant on site. - Good location for me to split a long journey to the north of England. Also wanted to visit some National Trust properties on the way so this was convenient. Good restaurant on site with good food and friendly staff. Very happy with my stay. Second stay there.
- fernanda (7/5): -
- S A Wallis (8/5): Would stay again if coming to the area - Food, very helpful
staff, good value for money as breakfast included nice location Room on 3rd floor as stairs steep but it is an old coaching inn
- Michael (8/5): Lovely Stay - Almost everthing The trek up to the 3rd floor with circular staircases in parts, which I found tricky but not impossible to navigate with a carry on flight bag.
- Peter (8/5): Staff were pleasent, room clean but a bit worn, Nice location and good food. Would stay there again. - Food was excellent, left my jacket which the staff kindly wrapped and posted back to me, however I had to chase up the request, I feel the request had been forgotten. fault noted with room, No sink plug, was not rectified
- TRACEY (9/5): Lovely stay. Will certainly stay again if in the area. - Breakfast choice was excellent and room was good. Shower water was not draining away. I did mention to a staff member that morning. But it was still the same the next day.
- Denise (10/5): - Had an amazing meal in a beautiful setting to celebrate my birthday with my husband meal was tasty well presented and delicious There was nothing that I didn't like it was perfect lovely choice of steak and sauce to go with it amazing onion rings and garlic bread with cheese and my favourite chips perfect
- Neil (10/5): -
- Steven (8/5): Superb location with off site parking (5 minutes walk) - Location Mattress too soft for our preference
- Dominic (8/5): -
- NEALE (10/5): Great staff made our stay personal and enjoyable. Traditional, cosy, quaint and best breakfasts! - Staff were fantastic. Rachel and the team made our stay very special with some lovely personal touches (it was our wedding weekend). The hotel is quaint and cosy and they do the most delicious breakfasts. Really happy with our choice.
- Belinda (8/5): A friendly place to stay in a pretty location. - The reception ladies gave us a warm welcome.
The breakfast was delicious.
The bar/restaurant was attractive and the patio was a nice surprise. The stairs to bedroom and decor/doors needed a clean.
- David (8/5): Lively little village for a weekend stopover. - On site bar and restaurant were very good. Both food and drinks menus had a good selection to choose from. The staff were all very friendly and eager to help. This is a very old building and as such the stairs are steep, narrow and winding up to the bedrooms. If you have serious mobility issues, do check first before booking.
- Graham (8/5): Great food and staff, needs maintenance. - Character and location Poorly maintained, stairs dirty and walls to accommodation dirty/greasy. Shower loose, bathroom fittings loose.
- Ange (10/5): -
- Darren (8/5): - Nice breakfast Rooms hard to find
- Self (9/5): Great stay - Outstanding breakfast.
Very friendly professional staff
- Mary (10/5): Charming Hotel - Charming hotel. Friendly staff. Great restaurant.

- steven (4/5): Noisy. - A lovely hotel in the beautiful village of Brewood. The food in the restaurant downstairs was amazing for dinner and breakfast, and the staff were lovely. But… If they offer you the Lapley Room, run for the hills. It is next to the chiller machinery for the CoOp next door. As a result, I got zero sleep. All night the chiller plant would turn on really loudly, run for a few minutes, then stop. This repeated continuously. Worse than a continuous noise, as his as you started drifting off to sleep it would turn on again.
For me (an I’m convinced I’m not alone in this), it doesn’t matter how nice the rest of a hotel is, if you can’t sleep there, what is the point?
There was no one downstairs to help & give me a different room.
In the morning I spoke to staff, who were aware of the problem. In a way that’s worse! You’ll keep getting bad reviews everytime someone stays in her Lapley room until you either solve the proble (which to be fair would be very difficult), or accept defeat, admit that Lapley is not fit for purpose, and turn it into a store room. Either that or reserve it for use by deaf people only.
Just hoping people won’t notice doesn’t cut it. Everyone is going to notice!
- Lillian (4/5): Did the job but can’t say I’ll return - Room was tidy and good town location Ordered breakfast only simple small breakfast we went down early to ensure not waiting long waited over 30 minutes only 2 others sitting so had to leave as we couldn’t wait this long also people shouting in stairs at 3 in the morning isn’t great, I understand hotel isn’t responsible for patriots but perhaps a night guard at reception could be brought in especially as from what we seen was a hotel used for people on nights out on the town. The rooms aren’t ideal if your tall as you will hit your head
- Kay (7/5): Nice hotel in a pleasant village location - Good location in the village with convenient parking nearby. Staff were helpful. Lack of privacy due to the glass toilet door.
- Kim (10/5): Lovely - Nice and friendly food was lovely Couldn’t find car park but once found was near
- Jane (9/5): Quality stay for budget price - Excellent location, lovely attentive staff, food superb. Brilliant value for money. Nothing
- Dickon (8/5): - Lovely looking pub and the room was very clean Staff upon first entry weren't very pleasant, bed was very uncomfortable and slanted room wasnt great
- Toni (9/5): -
- Katy (9/5): -
- Ivan (8/5): Ticked all the boxes.! - In the middle of Brewood with car park at the rear. Clean, friendly staff, nice quiet room with a great breakfast.
- Sarah (5/5): Super disappointed at not being able to try the restaurant. - Nice room, tidy, big bed. I travel a lot on my own for work so will often take a meal from the restaurant to my room to eat to save me sitting on a table by myself. I did not have a restaurant worth change of clothes and feel quite anxious on my own.
I have never not been allowed or able to do this. When I asked if they did room service the answer was no, which is fine, I hadn’t expected it. So I said if it’s ok I will take my meal to enjoy at my desk in my room to which I was told that I was not allowed.
Their menu looked AMAZING but I ended up with a pot noodle. Not great, very disappointed.
- Dee (9/5): - Nice friendly staff and great food strange noise, maybe it was the pipes but all good otherwise
- alcock (8/5): ideal for our circumstances - evenning meal was very good
breakfast very good, you need a good appetite
- Bevan (8/5): Mostly good - I would stay again, too. - Breakfast was good and the room was nice. The water pressure in the shower and sink was intermittent. But the water was hot at least.
- Gerald (7/5): - Nice modernised pub hotel, comfortable and clean. Very good quality of food. The restaurant would benefit from a manager in the evening. We waited 35 mins past our booked time for our table and we were then told 4 times things we had ordered had gone off the menu - all seemed a bit chaotic
- Mary (10/5): -
- Tanya (8/5): Pleasant stay in the middle of canal area - It’s homely clean and warm. There is a decent pub attached. We have stayed here before but this time it seemed a bit more disorganised.
- Philip (8/5): Lovely village, great pubs all with in walking distance of the Lion. - Perfect for RAF COSFORD
- Jason (10/5): - The lion hotel is situated right in the centre of brewood , easy to get to all areas of the village , and the breakfast was superb
- Mark (8/5): Very friendly effective staff running a very good food and accomadartion offer - Im assuming outside but warm and stylish inside The busy .. high use areas such as doors stairs landings etc could do with a freshen up
- John (6/5): Room for improvement at all levels. - Location is a winner Small room.
Breakfast was cold.
Afternoon meal in the restaurant was average.
- John (9/5): -
- Yvonne (8/5): -
- Nicola (9/5): Perfect location, beautiful 300 year old hotel, lovely clean rooms and the food was fantastic! - Charming, clean, lovely rooms and the food was superb! Nothing at all. It was great 👍
- Sweeney (10/5): Beautiful - Lovely staff. So warm and welcoming. The hotel, restaurant and bedroom were very clean and well presented. Love the old pictures on the walls. The breakfast was outstanding, served hot and came out quick enough. We didn't try the restaurant for a dinnertime meal, but the menu looked incredible. The area is beautiful. It's small and there isn't much to do, but if countryside walking is your thing, you can take in some stunning views. You can get down to the Shropshire Union Canal from here in about 5 minutes. Also, LOTS OF DOGS! ❤️ The only issues we had was some of the wooden slats from the foot end of the bed kept falling out. Easy enough to pop back in, so not a big problem. The en suite door is sort of frosted glass too, so if you don't mind using the bathroom with an 'audience', it won't be a problem, but just a heads up if you prefer a bit more privacy.
- Teresa (9/5): -
- James (7/5): Overall satisfactory - Lovely interesting historic village and convenient location for a stopover Shelves in the bathroom
- Julian (8/5): Well worth a visit. - Location and great value rooms, perfect breakie, great evening restaurant and super staff. Parking - best to go to the local council one which is free but nearly always full.
- Julie (8/5): Lovely and relaxing, good food, friendly staff shame about the bed. - Food and staff were exceptional The bed was broken in the room and as we were late going to bed it was too late to notify the staff. So didn't get a good nights sleep
- Ralph (8/5): Overall excellent - The adjoining restaurant is suburb.
Can really recommend the scotch egg starter! Stairs a bit if a struggle. Though it is an old building and I'm not gettiovreng any younger.
- Mandy (8/5): - Extra payment for dogs was a shock
- Chris (8/5): -
- Phillip (7/5): -
- Vicky (7/5): - Cosy room..doggy friendly..central location in the village and lovely staff. Hardly any electric sockets
Bathroom door see through..no privacy
Very warm even with no heating on
Stair case very dangerous as steep & narrow..dogs children and elderly not suitable
Ordered food in evening in the restaurant but had to leave as left for half an hour without a drink or taking our order..we were starving so went across to the Indian restaurant instead!
- Myron (9/5): - Excellent food = breakfast and dinner
- Hussain (10/5): Amazing place -
- Michael (9/5): - Staff reception, room service Nil
- Carol (10/5): Warm, welcoming. We enjoyed our stay and have already booked to return - Wonderful location. Very friendly staff
- kerry (8/5): A lovely cosy hotel in a lovely town. - The hotel was very cosy, we loved the open fire. The decor was lovely throughout and the bed was so cosy.
David the manager who was on, was very welcoming and very accommodating, which we really appreciated. Thank you.
The meals were lovely to. N/A
