Guest Reviews
- Sharon (8/5): - The room was slightly dated but very very clean. Shower pressure could be better. But over all I would stay again.
- James (10/5): - Very welcoming and helpful with tips on local area and provided free shuttle transfer to train station for Trans Alpine Rail. Good sized room with all the amenities you'd expect
- Mike (4/5): - Location was ok The shower was lacking water flow
The heater in the bathroom did not work
And the same for one bed lamp
- Jennifer (10/5): Perfect ! - Comfortable bed, hot shower, clean and spacious room, really helpful owner - guided us as to where to get food on the evening of arrival and took us to the station for the trans-alpine train - amazing, thank you so much! Nothing
- Margaret (7/5): - Studio Unit very comfortable and spotless Lack of sink and tap in room meant to boil the electric jug we had to use bathroom facilities but problem was jug doesn’t fit under tap so we had to use a cup to fill the jug. Found this rather odd and not most hygienic
- Raewyn (5/5): Hope to return when the upgrades are done - Convenient close to where we needed to go
Was okay The towels were dirty colour & hard
Floor in kitchen & bathroom wasn’t clean
Plastic mat in bathroom wasn’t clean
Iron couldn’t be plugged in cos the 3 pointer was crocked
Bed was 2 singles put together well that’s what it felt like
When room was service we left it clean bed wasn’t made
He did mention that they are up grading hope so cos it’s in the perfect place

- Fairbairn (8/5): -
- Rajiv (9/5): -
- Jonathan (8/5): Good accomodation for a trip to the races -
- Nick (6/5): Cheap and cheerful - It's a budget priced motel so you get what you pay for. It was though clean and the beds were comfortable, so for a quick one night stay it was fine. There are no facilities to speak of, but to be honest I didn't really need any, but if WiFi is important to you, look away, it was pretty non existent!
- Jane (5/5): Good value for pensioners but definitely not first world accommodation. - Its location. Plastic pot plants, 1980s era furnishings.
- Shennae (4/5): - Handly to Wolfbrook arena The showers were on a weird system and the water pressure was awful, not very clean, old beds.
- katedugdale (10/5): -
- Anthony (9/5): -
- Debra (9/5): - Perfect hosts
Had the room ready for us. As we didn't get in until late
- Hayley (9/5): Comfortable, spacious and great location - Having two rooms was great for travelling with kids. Very close to the arena. The couch tipped when I sat on it and I hurt myself.
- Justine (10/5): -
- Jennifer (8/5): - The owner was so helpfull helped me with the time on my phone and transport to train station
- Haley (8/5): - Great location. Not far from alot of facilities
- Malisa (9/5): -
- gould (8/5): We had a great stay. Hosts were welcoming and very helpful. - Location was perfect for closeness to the venue we attended, and had everything we needed. Beds and pillows were very comfy- best night's sleep I've had for ages. No food places close by suitable for my fussy child.
- Guest (9/5): - Great location. Comfortable, clean room. Nil
- Jacqueline (8/5): All good would go there again - Close to the city
- Erin (8/5): - Friendly and helpful manager
Great location
Pet friendly
- Lindsay (9/5): very good - Location, cleanliness, bathroom heater element not working
- Guest (8/5): - The room was great the owners are lovely Bit worrying their dog isn't on lead outside the office
Was a bit dusty in the room and the shower wasn't great
- Lisa Bright (10/5): -
- Despoina (8/5): - Decent and clean. Really close to the Railway station. The owner was very polite. The walls are a bit thin and it was cold at the beginning.
- Jody (7/5): - Thank you to the staff they were very helpful
- Douglas (10/5): We always stay here when in Christchurch, very friendly owners who always make you welcome. - Location & great all round place to stay. Nothing, everything was just fine.
- Guest (9/5): Very enjoyable - After having plane issues we were very late getting to our accommodation. I phoned the office and they were very accommodating and told us our room number and he would leave the door unlocked for us and would put the heating on so it would be nice and warm for us when we arrived. We really appreciated this as we did not arrive until 10.50pm and the weather was very cold, Everything was ok
- Erin (8/5): -
- Nelson (7/5): -
- Ngahuia (8/5): Not flash, not shabby, decent for your money's worth. - Location to Addington was the main reason I chose Arena. The shower, was hard to stop the water from going everywhere
- Carol (8/5): - The location was perfect for me. I had a conference being held at Addington raceway and it was literally a 5 minute stroll away.
Owner was friendly and helpful. The room was clean and tidy. In the scheme of things these are minor. The shower is a bit weak. Not a huge water flow. A couple of window latches broken so I couldn't close the small window in the bathroom so a bit chilly in there. It was only open a crack. Not major issues
- Joanne (7/5): -
- Kevin (10/5): -
- Sue (7/5): Good for what we wanted - Close to addington raceway , comfortable for night stay, good price Needs a bit of love and care
- Terry (7/5): Overall very comfortable and owner helpful and friendly. - Great kitchen facilities and spacious living area and bathroom.
Warm and comfortable. Some areas needed a bit more cleaning, the wardrobe floor needed attention, as did the bath plug hole. Some bits could do with a bit of paint.
- Reami (9/5): -
- Patel (9/5): Fantastic place with amazing location. - Clean and tidy, great location and great communication. N/A
- Bronwyn (9/5): thanks, was an easy stay:) - close to where I was working on the days visited, and the host checked me in remotely when I was arriving late. nothing

- Bryan (4/5): -
- heather (8/5): accomplished what was needed! - manager was just so can-do and helpful, accommodating me despite my major booking error and the lateish hour. and good shuttle service to the train next morning too. not having bedlamp for the single bed: there was no powerpoint for one to plug into either.
and cool white lights not the greatest especially in winter - warm white much more user friendly i think.
- Douglas (9/5): Great place to stay, highly recommend. - Location and value for money. Nothing
- Joy (8/5): Great value - Very close to the railway station and Wolfbrook arena. It was very simple to take the bus from the airport, with one transfer, taking 40-50 minutes. They also provide a free shuttle service to the railway station for early departures. However, if you are planning to take the train you need to bring your own supplies as there are no groceries within walking distance from the motel.
The motel is dated and has many signs of wear and tear, but for the price the room was clean, comfortable and with all the necessary facilities. The manager Andrew is so nice and hospitable. Recommended!
- Brien (9/5): - Very comfortable beds and a warm room on a cold Christchurch night. Nothing to complain about
- Gweshe (8/5): It met my needs with my children - I didn't have breakfast
- Philip (9/5): -
- SINGH (5/5): -
- sally (6/5): -
- Samantha (2/5): -
- Maria (9/5): Great Kiwi Hosts, great location and price! - Great hosts! I had a late check in and they had the heater on in my room, as I didn't have a car, I also arranged for a small grocery order to be delivered, not only was it put in my room for me, the drinks etc had been put in the fridge too! Those little touches mean a lot!! It was close enough for us to walk and have a good choice of cafes for breakfast, then just walk across the road to the stadium. PERFECT for what we wanted. Thank you Thank you Thank you!! Look, its no 5 star motel, but it is very clean, it is tidy, it has great location and GREAT KIWI HOSTS!! It is all you need if you want to me close to the Stadium, we stayed 2 nights and it was perfect for us and what we needed on this trip. Nothing not to like - we will be back!!
- Kerri-Anne (8/5): -
- Amy (6/5): Cheap and cheerful - The price and location Decor generally very outdated, room/bed layout not as I booked. We made do.
- rachael (7/5): -
- Duane (10/5): - Friendly staff
- Rosemary (10/5): -
- Caitlin (7/5): -
- Annette (6/5): Cheap but not so cheerful - Friendly receptionist, flexible with arrival and departure time. Good price and communication Outside lights were on all night and shone through the windows. Curtains and blinds were flimsy and old and did not keep cold or light out. The shower had very low flow and pressure, decided not to wash my hair.
- Walker (10/5): Excellent! Wonderful service! 😁 - Exceptional service. Cleaner could have done a better job of clearing the bathroom.
- Lisa (7/5): -
- Paula (4/5): It’s fine for what we need, and location is perfect for my group - Location, location, location!! The shower system is terrible.
Under the sofa bed was absolutely filthy
- Goodwin (7/5): -
- Roger (10/5): - I Loved It All
- Lucy (8/5): -
- lara (1/5): - Couldn’t say as we turned up and they were closed !!!
I emailed them to say we were arriving late which they acknowledged and said it would be a problem. However when we arrived late at night, in the rain after a long flight they were closed with no instructions and weren’t answering their phone!! Really disappointed!!
- john (10/5): Friendly staff, great location to catch the train, very comfortable. - Had a late arrival and the room was warm and very comfortable when we arrived. Only spent one night before catching the train to Greymouth, we were given a free transfer to the train station in the morning which saved us a walk and was greatly appreciated. Would be happy to stay again.
- Marc (10/5): Great place to stay if you are catching the Trans Alpine Express! - Amazing staff who were very helpful.
- Casey (8/5): -
- Yvonne (3/5): - Location Needs major up date. Duvet on bed ripped. Chairs very uncomfortable. Shower was horrendous. Absolutely no pressure at all.
- Guest (7/5): Convenient but needs updating. - The motel is very close to the railway station and the owner ran a shuttle to the train early in the morning. The unit was quiet and clean. The beds were older and hard. The single beds were narrow and the queen bed was hard and had dips and hollows. There was a new hot water system in the show and the water was hot but had low water pressure. The furniture is old and needs an upgrade.
- Yvonne (3/5): - Location was good and owner took us to the train station which was much appreciated. Needs major updating and the shower was absolutely horrendous. Warm but absolutely no pressure at all. Feel sorry for anyone with thick or long hair to wash.
- Kathy (1/5): Not for us. - Unfortunately we decided the Arena was not the sort of place we would want to stay at. First impressions were torn window dressings on dirty windows, the smell of the room was musty and damp, the room was very dated and worn, the shower was mouldy. We for a refund and left.
- Renee (7/5): - Great stay here again. Location is perfect for events we attend
- Heather (7/5): - It was close to things we wanted to go to. We got a free shuttle to train station. The pressure in the shower was poor.
- Roger (10/5): - Very Nice Motel
- Jon (8/5): -
- Christine (8/5): - The location close to railway station and shops, helpful owner The curtains and duvet covers could be updated
- David (7/5): - Nice tidy place, comfortable and warm. Close to cage, shops, race way etc My only concern was the strong smell of cleaning fluids in the room. I had to keep the windows open all night.
- Emily (7/5): -
- kerry (6/5): -
- sharon (4/5): would not rebook - every 4 or so minutes there is a loud hum from the "spa bath" that cannot be turned off. It kept me awake all night with the persistent hum. The bath floor was slippery , the non slip mat in bath tub was filthy and the refrigerator rusty on the outside.
- Robert (10/5): -
- jill (6/5): Suited our requirements - The location. Was great for the walk to the racecourse All the windows were opaque glass couldn’t see outside would prefer room with a better outlook
- grindley (3/5): - Bed was comfortable Sort the shower system out
- Annette (8/5): Very happy with our 1 night stay. - Pet friendly was the key to our booking. Location was awesome so close to Wolfbrook Arena for us. No didn’t likes.
- Kerri-Anne (8/5): -
- Jo (9/5): - Staff was friendly , and helpfull
- Andreas (8/5): -
- Borell (10/5): Clean, comfortable and great value for money in Addington, Christchurch - The unit was well set out and had all the conveniences of home. Clean and spacious for my friend and I. The beds were very comfortable and the bathroom was well equipped. The unit was a welcome respite from the severe weather battering the Canterbury and Christchurch regions endured during our stay. We don't have anything that we didn't like about the unit.
- Renee (7/5): - Great location to the stadium for our event. Staff (new since my last visit) were great. Nothing was a problem. Room clean, comfortable. We didn't have a room near the road so it was nice and quiet. Easily accessible to everything.
