Guest Reviews
- Patricia (10/5): - An excellent all-round pub/hotel.
- Sarah (10/5): - We liked everything about our stay highly recommended
- jackie (8/5): - Ideal for visiting Powys castle. Narrow stairway to bedroom and shower inside a bath with no grab rails a bit of a problem for me as elderly!!
- robert (8/5): - First
- Stuart (8/5): - It was a convenient stopping-off stay whilst passing through.
- Andrew (10/5): - Excellent all round š
- Jim (6/5): - Room was very pleasant, be aware that when you book breakfast included this is NOT a full cooked breakfast. It is only a very limited continental breakfast. Croissant, yoghurt and boxed cereals. Not cold meats or cheeses. The hotel is on the main road and opposite another major junction so traffic noise is an issue. Evening meals are very good.
- John (8/5): - Very nice room. Nice towels and bed linen. However, when it say including breakfast, it is ONLY Continental...disappointing.
- Alan (8/5): - Having had a meal in the restaurant we were having a drink afterwards in the bar with friends , but were told we had to disband because the bar was closing at 10.00pm and weād have to leave. An enforced return to our rooms!
- Cheryl (6/5): - Lovely rooms well equipped, disappointed with the food, dining room unbearably hot (donāt know why they didnāt open door) lots of flies in the dining room (was off putting when eating) and the bar closed at 9pm meaning we had no option other than to spend the evening in our room.
- nigel (8/5): - Great! Too much food for dinner on a Sunday night but it was really good quality
- Stirling (10/5): - We was welcomed by staff as soon as we arrived. clean room great food .the nags head was cosy and the staff where happy to help in anyway to make our visit special 10/10
- Eve (8/5): - Very helpful and friendly staff, also noticed I was on crutches and offered me the option of a downstairs room which was very much appreciated. First class service, cleanliness and breakfast.
- Teresa (10/5): - Good location with plenty of off road parking. Lovely modern interior, bedroom was clean and well appointed.
Food was superb and staff were friendly and helpful.
A great relaxing stay.
- John (10/5): - An overnight stop on the way to Pembrokeshire.
Staff were all very friendly and the food was very good.
The hotel is on quite a busy road, though we did go for a walk along the local canal and golf course and that was pleasant - and we avoided the thunderstorms !
- Vicky (10/5): Excellent!! - Amazing business stay...... Very comfortable, clean room with all general amenities. Food in the restaurant was amazing & staff very friendly. Will definitely return.
- Ros (8/5): - This is my 5th stay on the way home from Wales. Its excellent value for money, very convenient on A483 and has a superb restaurant. The rooms are very well appointed . Unfortunately this time i arrived late after the restaurant closed but I was offered a dessert ( which was delicious) and i enjoyed an excellent breakfast.
- Ray (10/5): Mondo - Excellent Hotel and the Food was Amazing .Staff were fabulous .Breakfast was good as well. However we had a young girl at breakfast who didnāt look up to greet us.we had to ask where we were seated. She never returned to see if we needed more coffee! More training needed. Not a front person. The young girls we had for check in and our evening were Amazing .
- SHARON (10/5): - The staff were amazing, food was amazing
- Sean (6/5): Disappointed - My room had a TV with no reception so i couldnāt watch anything despite 2 members of staff having a look to be told someone else would have a look but never did.
Also felt misled as said breakfast bug as I went for breakfast it was a continental breakfast and if I wanted a cooked breakfast it was an additional £10.
- Marion (10/5): - We can thoroughly recommend The Nags Head. Our room was charming and the food excellent with generous portions and reasonably priced. The staff were very friendly and helpful too.
- Dewi (10/5): What a wonderful place to stay - Wonderful overnight stay. Fantastic staff wonderful food and hospitality. Will definitely be back.
- Gavin (10/5): Journey breaking stop over - The staff were very friendly and helpful and the food was beautiful, we were breaking our journey up so only stayed the one night, we had a very relaxing time just a shame about the loud couple below our room but it got sorted, would definitely stay again.
- Nyree (10/5): Perfect - The stay was lovely very friendly very clean just perfect
- Charlie (2/5): APPROACH WITH CAUTION - I would like to express my concerns regarding a recent experience with the cancellation policy of your hotel. It is my understanding that typically, accommodations demonstrate flexibility in such situations, especially when a guest is facing serious health issues. In this instance, I provided relevant documentation to support my request for cancellation; however, unlike my experience with multiple other hotels over the past six months, my request was not granted.
Moreover, my interactions with your staff were not indicative of a customer-centric approach, and I believe there is an opportunity for improvement in service delivery. Throughout this period, I have successfully received full refunds from various hotels
-ranging from large chains to independent establishments-each responding positively upon receiving medical documentation.
Given the circumstances, I was unable to travel for my own safety and the safety of those around me. It is concerning that the hotel prioritized the financial aspect over the well-being of its guests, especially when the amount in question is relatively modest.
As a result of this experience, I have decided not to consider your hotel for future bookings, and I would recommend that others approach with caution as
- Susan (4/5): - Initially we were impressed - good size room and bed, warm and cosy and lovely modern bathroom. Had a very long journey and was tired when we were shown to room around 9:30pm. Noticed how noisy it was outside but as it was early thought it would quieten down- how wrong we were. The traffic was constant - I felt like I had pitched a tent on the side of the motorway with every vehicle passing by. With the heavy goods vehicles passing you could also feel the vibrations. Hours ticked by and I lay there thinking it would stop soon but it never did. Finally some sleep came around 4am through exhaustion but as I had to be up at 7am I hardly felt rested at all.
Went down for breakfast and there were 5 of us in the restaurant. Bit disappointed that it was continental only and that a latte or anything cooked was an extra. Also the continental was a bit stingy - not enough for everyone seated to have a croissant each.
If the road and noise had not been an issue we would have given an excellent review but the location right on that busy road was the worse I have ever experienced, sorry
- lesley (10/5): - Great Stay - Excellent
- kenneth (10/5): - The Hotel Was Lovely And The Staff Having Only One Leg The Lady`s Were Very To Get To My Room We Are Coming Back To Stay For A Few Days In The Spring Thankyou
- Ian (10/5): - Lovely pub restaurant. Food, drink and bed were perfect. 7.30 breakfast is a little late by the time its ordered and served. Cooked breakfast is additional but fair price and very good. Will use again
- Michael (10/5): - All the staff were most welcoming, friendly and helpful and the quality of the evening meal and breakfast was excellent. The whole pub/hotel was spotlessly clean as was our room for the night. A most thoroughly enjoyable stay en-route back home to the West Country from our week stay in Anglesey. Unreservedly recommended.
- Anthony (8/5): - On a main road
- Rebecca (6/5): - The food was absolutely brilliant but the bed was absolutely awful. Squeaked really bad even when just turning over. Woke us up every time.
- Cheryl (8/5): - Well maintained, clean rooms. Staff were friendly and helpful. Free breakfast was continental so we paid for a cooked breakfast, which was nice.
Main road is in front of the hotel, didnāt bother us but it might if you're a light sleeper.
- Vanessa (10/5): Simply amazing - Amazing especially considering the price. Stay was made even better with the amazing staff. Will definitely be returning
- John (6/5): - Property is contemporary but the bedrooms are a little sparse of character even though they are renovated. Comfortable bed & good shower. Coffee was instant. Front bedrooms are close to a busy road & although double glazed, you are aware of noise. Be warned, cooked breakfast is extra ( not the Expedia advertised āfreeā). Food is pub grub, beer was well kept
- Kate (10/5): - Fantastic location and very friendly staff. The room (#4) was very large, with a huge comfortable bed & pillows. Shower & bathroom were very clean and the water pressure excellent. We had dinner downstairs, and it was very tasty & well priced. Continental style breakfast was included & extra could be paid for bacon, eggs, sausages etc.
This Inn is highly recommended & we would definitely stay again.
- Andrew (10/5): Highly Recommended - Really nice hotel, with an excellent restaurant and the staff were amazing.
- Ann (10/5): Lovely inn - All was good with our stay & would definitely stay again . Very clean & comfortable .
- Sean (8/5): Four Crosses - I paid for breakfast but didnāt know until the morning it only covered a continental breakfast not cooked which had an additional surcharge of Ā£10 which was a little steep I thought.
There were lots of people just opting for the continental.
The room was good although it backed onto the main road which was like being next to the M1.
Overall it was ok .
- Ian (10/5): Highly recommended - Convenient location with large car park at rear, lovely clean room. Nice friendly staff and excellent food
- Dave (10/5): Business trip. - No problem at all .
The ladies where all happy with a great vibe.
- Paul (6/5): Trip to Powis Castle - Comfortable room but a bit too hot. A lot of road noise all night so the windows need a lot more soundproofing - or bring ear plugs!
Dinner was tasty but breakfast billed as continental was very limited. Only cereal and toast
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Staff were very helpful.
- sion (6/5): - Very clean, great evening meal, But...Booked 2 rooms for business purposes. Booked via Expedia as it stated breakfast included, upon arrival was told that it was Continental only and would be charged extra for any cooked options!(Be aware.) This was not specified on Expedia. Lady was very abrupt and would not hear me out at all (rules are rules?!?) Decided to go for the breakfast and pay, waited with other guests in a corridor for the internal door to be unlocked at 7:30 am sharp (as instructed by staff!) door still shut at 7:50! Walked out of a rear door, to be greeted by a rushing member of staff! Contacted hotel later, but not helpful and was told that member of breakfast staff slept in. Had to go to neighbouring hotel for breakfast. Now looking for re-imbursement.(wont hold my breathe) under new management, and it shows!
- Jennifer (8/5): - The food at dinner was excellent
- David (8/5): Very comfortable hotel. - Lovely little hotel. Staff were great and very accommodating WRT room selection and even suggested we move our car from the car park to an area closer to our room. Evening meal in the restaurant was very enjoyable.
Definately recommend The Nags Head.
- Michael (10/5): Lovely place to stay. - Obviously a very popular pub serving good food. Our room was in excellent condition and very well styled to reflect the old features but embracing the new as well. I would highly recommend it. The free breakfast was a continental selection, but cooked items were available at extra cost. Loved our stay.
- Simon (10/5): Great stay as always :) - As always warm welcome.. Lovely cosy establishment. Staff go above and beyond and are very attentive and helpful!! Rooms are large and airy with exceptionally comfy beds. Food in restaurant never fails always amazing as was breakfast. Dog friendly huge bonus as big animal lovers.. Stayed many times, are base when visiting family. Will definitely be back! Thanks guys look forward to seeing you all in the New Year. :)
- Carole (10/5): Faultless. - Lovely place. Well presented. Excellent staff. Food faultless.
We shall be staying there again.
Canāt recommend it highly enough.
- Brian (10/5): - No thanks. Above should be enough
- Robert (10/5): - An enjoyable stay with fine food and good hospitality.
Highly recommended.
We will stay there again
- William (8/5): - Very good food and pleasant restaurant. Only negative is the pub is beside a busy road and the traffic starts very early.
- C (10/5): Beautiful country pub/hotel. - Lovely overnight stay on way to Pembrokeshire.
Hotel and staff both excellent, very dog friendly.
Food superb
- john (10/5): - Modern room in old building. Staff friendly and efficient. Good facilities and clean
- Simon (10/5): Nice Stay in a Pretty Rural Setting & Great Food - Had a nice one-night stay. Lovely rural setting. The numerous awards it's won are no surprise - a superb menu both in the evening and for breakfast. In fact, the breakfast one of best ever had in this type of accommodation. Couple of blemishes: the septic tank adjacent to the car park was really smelly and, perhaps related to this there were nasty "drainsy" smells in the en-suite. Mentioned at check-out, but the staff member was nonchalant... maybe I'm not the first to mention it, who knows!
- Alexander (10/5): Nice place to visit - Friendly and helpful staff, all meals were of a high standard, nice dinning room and outside tables in a sheltered garden.
Bedroom was large and clean.
Ample car parking
- Brian (10/5): You wont regret it.. - From arriving to departing we were well looked after and the food was top notch. Well worth a stay or dine.
- Richard (10/5): - Food very good and as staying went out of way to find a table as booked for a party
- Dave (10/5): Bank holiday visit - Great room, great food , friendly service
- Wendy (10/5): 1 night stay - A great pub with good food and accommodation, all at a good price. Enjoyed our 1 night stay.
- Simon (10/5): Great stay ! - We stayed in room #7 on 5th April, overall very pleased, would recommend and we will stay again in the future.
Great room, friendly service, all areas of hotel very clean & welcoming.
Fast & easy check in, was shown to our room.
Bar areas very good great traditional pub feel !
Michelle was excellent, thank you.
- Philip (10/5): - Lovely room, very clean and excellent breakfast.
- michael (10/5): First class all round - Comfortable room , excellent food and first class service
- Steven (10/5): - 1 night stay and really enjoyed it. Staff friendly, room great, food good and breakfast good. Nothing to fault. Would book again.
- Karl (10/5): - Really friendly warm atmosphere. Food was great and room was superb.
- Paul (10/5): Excellent food - Excellent food. Huge breakfasts with a good choice. I dined at the hotel both nights and had the steak twice it was so good.
Also a wide selection of beers.
It was good value for money.
- Elizabeth (10/5): - Stopped two nights, staff really nice and friendly, room very clean, would definitely stay again.
- Stephen (10/5): Comfortable and welcoming stay - Great room and facilities. Pub as all pubs should be with great beer, good food and comfortable seating areas . The main highway to the front was a bit intrusive.
- John (10/5): Excellent on everything - Lovely stay at the Nags head hotel. Really comfortable welcoming hotel, fantastic breakfast and excellent evening meal. We only had one night booked but we will stay longer next time. Great position not far from Powys castle and Welshpool.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Excellent place - Excellent establishment with a good restaurant menu and beer. Only stayed 1 night but if in area again happily stay longer. Recommended without hesitation
- David (10/5): First class - Great stay
- Linda (10/5): - Staff just lovely and very efficient. Room delightful and tastefully furnished and decorated. Excellent new bathroom with a superb shower. Warm.
Breakfast simply excellent.
- Christopher (10/5): - Great food & room
- Sophie (10/5): The only place to stay - beautiful! - What a beautiful hotel. We used to live close by and came to visit friends. Most hotels around here are dated and I wouldnāt choose to stay. We came to stay here as we often used to come for food orbs drink when we lived here and wow. The rooms are so spacious, the bed was unbelievably comfortable it was warm and very quiet. Wouldnāt stay anywhere else around here, we havenāt gone for breakfast yet but we know they make a good plate of food so would imagine that will be 5* as well.
- Mrs Adele (6/5): - Lovely hotel with great food but unfortunately noise was a problem. I stayed in the single bedroom and the bed was extremely loud when moving an inch. I could also hear everything happening in the hall and other rooms which didn't bother me that much but I was conscious that I should have my TV on a low volume in case it bothered other guests. I was woken in the morning to loud banging in the adjacent bedroom which I understand is not the hotels fault (sounded like they were literally banging pots and pans). Staff were lovely and, again, food was exceptional!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great 2 nights away - Fabulous room, food and service. Two night stay, dog came too and we all had a great time
- Cristina (8/5): An honest review - All was regular, but I didn't find much of a difference with less expensive chain budget hotels, such us premier in for example, in terms of confort and services. The bed was big and nice, but pillows were too thin and uncomfortable, the shower room was of a very nice size, but with no shelf inside where to place soaps, shampoo etc... Big flat TV but poor quality cable, so the image was often disturbed, and the free guest wifi didn't work inside the room.
All considered I found the price a little high compared to the offering, but clean rooms and a friendly lovely staff.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Overnight stay - A good overnight stay to break up a journey to Mid Wales. Hotel room/staff and outdoor eating area all very good, the staff were very thoughtful and understanding as we had our dog with us and all struggled in the 30c heat.
- Tiana (10/5): Beautiful stay. X - Stayed here for my partners birthday/half way stay to āZipwire worldā. It was fantastic! From the friendly welcome, to the incredible food and extremely clean and comfortable room. The dining and meal was five star. Best meal weāve had in a very long time! The room was beautiful and very clean. We will definitely look to come back and certainly advise friends and family to use this place. Thankyou for everything to the staff š
- Isambard (8/5): - Rooms very nice, food great, only down side road busy at front of pub, would still stay again though itās a very nice place.
- Nyree (10/5): - This is the best place weāve stayed in by far x Amy the manager is amazing nothing is to much x Spotlessly clean very comfortable x Sam also needs a mention very easy person to talk to x Food was amazing Roast dinner was gorgeous weāve already booked to go bk in February for Valentineās xxx
- Katrina (10/5): Gorgeous stay - The Nags head is a stunning pub with great food and lovely indoor out door restaurant space.. The hotel rooms are hidden upstairs ans they are beautiful. Spacious and well decorated. Very clean and comfortable i was very impressed. The staff were kind and accomodating and helped me with my heavy bags. Very lovely place i will definetly come back. The price was very reasonable.
- John (8/5): - We had a room at the front and it was a little noisy we would go again but would ask for a room at the back
- Dewi (10/5): Loved it. - just a couple of days away as a birthday getaway. Absolutely loved the hotel. Food fantastic service by the girls polite and courteous at all times. Definitely be back
- Jonathan (10/5): Great place to stay - This is an excellent place to stay, the rooms are big spacious and comfortable. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. Food is very reasonably priced and of excellent quality, breakfast is excellent too. Have put this in my list of hotels I will certainly stay again. Only downside is the main road is a little noisy but didn't bother me.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Amazing!!!!! Food - The food was amazing and the staff were extremely helpful. The rooms were well decorated and clean. You can hear a little road noise, but nothing major unless you are a very light sleeper. Overall very happy and if staying in the area again, will be my first pick
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Friendly staff. Excellent food. Lovely room. Cosy bar area.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Friendly helpful staff. Good bar food. Excellent breakfast. Rooms with character and comfortable. Like many hotels, the double room had only one comfortable chair.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Noisy place. - Very noisy. Could hear cars on the road. There were also some people banging the door at odds times.
- margaret (10/5): Very comfy stay indeed - Friendly staff, room comfy and clean and though close to main road relatively quiet. Smart, clean bathroom with all the little extras in place. Bar and restaurant excellent, first class food and attentitive staff. Good choice of breakfast food and as much as you would want.Would recommended the hotel to anyone travelling in Mid Wales
- Matthew (10/5): Excellent Room and Food - Large room with excellent amenities. Road side location, but double glazing deadened any traffic noise. Excellent meal in the bar, which was backed up by a great breakfast. Not an issue for us, but WiFi signal a bit poor in room 3 if essential for you.
- Mark (10/5): - Such friendly staff and great food!
