Guest Reviews
- Siobhan (1/5): Hideous do not book this accommodation. Trust me I never write reviews but felt compelled this time - No breakfast available, tried to call the pub but no answer. I finally managed to speak with the manager who sounded concerned and apologetic and said she would follow this up and get back to me but never did. Pub which is attached to accommodation had a lock in and the noise was awful until about 2am then other residents were banging doors and car alarms going off. Possible the worst stay I have ever had. All of the above plus poor customer service post stay
- Maiwenn (8/5): -
- Tom (9/5): - Nice rooms. Fairly large, clean, nice shower. Couldn't check in early but we were kindly allowed to collect the keys early which allowed us to leave our luggage in the car and head off to a wedding without worry.
- Debbie (9/5): - A pleasant surprise of a place to stay. Comfortable, good sized room right in the village centre. The only minor detail was that the hairdryer in the room wasn't working and one of the spotlights was out in the bathroom.
- Sam (2/5): Loud! - The room is nicely decorated and spacious. On a Saturday night the pub is seriously loud and lively. On the night we stayed there was a Ska music night that went on until 1.30am. If you're looking for quiet restful night - this isn't it!
Also, when we arrived (7pm) the room was not made, there was only one towel and only one mug.
- Anja (10/5): Lovely cosy pub with great bedrooms. - Friendly welcome. Cosy room. Had a great lunch at the pub! Owners let us check in early as we were off to a wedding. N/a
- Jacqueline (8/5): - The room was decorated nicely and it had a table and chairs which was useful. I liked that I had access to a kitchenette with a lovely supply of drinks and continental style breakfast. The lady staff member made me feel very welcome and was very friendly. I felt it needed more lights as it only had 2 lamps in the room. It was Saturday night when I stayed and for me the music below was loud and went on way after midnight.
- Isabel (10/5): -
- Marta (8/5): -
- Roland (7/5): Overall good experience - good location, not far from Bath. Nice staff, friendly people. Recommended - I liked the room overall. Good size bed, clean bathroom, friendly staff, relaxing environment. The showers’ water was hot.
- Paul William (7/5): did the job , comfy large bed - Comfy bed, large room Shower was cold to start then went very hot and wouldn't change to a temperature that could be used , kitchen had breat and toaster with lots of choice of Jam but no butter
- Adrian (7/5): Large room, comfy bed but needs some tweaks - The property is ideally situated for the Priston Mill wedding venue and is easy to find. It had a large comfortable bedroom with a super king bed. The staff were friendly. The rooms are above a pub which I knew when I booked but the pub is open until midnight and has outside tables right under the windows for the bedroom. Friday night was quiet but Saturday night was karaoke (why is it always done by people who sound like strangled cats?) The booking is bed and breakfast which being above a pub I expected it to be a proper cooked breakfast. When we arrived we were shown to a little kitchen off the corridor outside the room which was the breakfast area for both rooms which had a kettle, microwave and toaster along with some bread, porridge pots and cereal. This should be made clearer as I wouldn’t have booked if I’d known. For the same price I could have got somewhere down the road with a cooked breakfast as other family members had. The room was really spacious but could do with a few additions. There are no sockets at the side of the bed for plugging a phone in which should be pretty standard in any hotel or b&b. There are just a couple of sockets over the other side of the room. The only tea and coffee facilities are in the kitchen and there is no kettle or coffee machine in the rooms which the info says it has. As it’s a shared corridor and kitchen you have to get dressed each time you want a brew. The room is plenty big enough to put these in. I’m assuming that most visitors are staying to attend a local wedding but the only mirrors are one hung right above the bed and one in the bathroom with no sockets near by to be able to dry and style hair(we were fortunate that my wife was playing sax at the wedding so we had an extension cable in the car with her equipment) Again the room is more than big enough to have a full length hanging mirror on a wall next to a socket and would benefit from it.
- Malcolm (9/5): -
- Rich (6/5): -
- William (10/5): Great place to stay near Bath for a more quiet experience, facilities are modern - Rural setting but modern rooms
- Janice (7/5): - Friendly landlady, obviously short staffed Very loud (unexpected) music on Saturday night
- Richard (10/5): - Great facilities and location
- Graham (10/5): A one night stay near to a family wedding, very comfortable. - Lovely self contained unit with separate self service breakfast area. Helen the landlady was very helpful. Unfortunately it was only for one night as we attended a nearby family wedding. But the pub looks great for a meal. Nothing to moan about all was fine.
- Jenny (8/5): Comfortable room just outside Bath. - Very comfortable room for attending a wedding at Priston Mill. Wasn’t serving food at lunchtime as advertised when we arrived.
- Jenny (8/5): Comfortable rooms in a lovely village near Bath and Priston Mill. - Really comfortable rooms with great DIY breakfast options. Close to
Priston Mill wedding venue too. Arrived for lunch before checking in and the kitchen was closed that day 🥲
- Rachel (4/5): - The bed was nice and the food in the pub was ok too. The shower was unusable without getting 3rd degree burns. It seems we were booked into the Timsbury nightclub as it was very loud on the Saturday night and breakfast was only help yourself cereal and toast.
- Debbie (10/5): Five Stars for Seven Stars - Super friendly staff, great little pub. Rooms were very clean and comfortable. Had a great night's sleep. Superbly located for the park and ride into Bath. Made to feel really welcome. No complaints
- Sarah (7/5): Comfortable room and friendly staff - Comfortable room with table and chairs, fresh milk provided for tea, friendly staff. Disappointing self service breakfast in adjoining kitchen; packets of cereals, orange juice and processed bread. Lights weren't working in room (due to electrical fault that was due to be fixed), just one table lamp that we moved around the room.
- Susan (8/5): -
- Nicola (7/5): - Not expecting us The bed was comfortable
- Neelika (10/5): - Our stay at Seven Stars was above our expectations.
The accommodation was extremely comfortable, with large spacious rooms, super comfy bed, and a separate kitchenette to prepare our included breakfast. We would have loved to stay until 11am book out, but we were head on touring.
The Pub was delightful: very warm and comfortable, with great food. The staff were very friendly and gave excellent customer service.
It’s been the high light of our travels so far!
- guy (7/5): -
- paula (5/5): Disappointing - The beds were comfortable the decor in the rooms looked good towels were also good . Large rooms. The lock on the main door had been drilled out by reading the other reviews in July when someone else got locked out nothing had been sorted out with it. The shower in bedroom two nearest the kitchen wasn’t working scalding hot water my mother in law had to run water in the bath let it cool down to have a very shallow bath.
This had also been mentioned in a previous review but had not been resolved. The lighting in our room was poor there was only one light working in the bathroom out of four. The blind on the left hand window was faulty very difficult to pull up or down. We had a wedding to go to at priston mill so we were using the place as a base to get to the venue. It lacked a full length mirror and a mirror near a socket which was irritating and an easy fix. Plus the biggest disappointment was the lack of services and Breakfast the kitchen at the end of the corridor was where you were supposed to to make your own breakfast so not B&B B & self service coffee machine looked hopeful but sadly only for the look as no pods provided. , the choice of breakfast food was very limited and disappointing ( white bread limited cereal). on the day of the wedding we opted to go out for a proper cooked breakfast (mead gate cafe 2 mins down the road amazing place highly recommend. ) . 😬 we didn’t consider it good value for money sadly.
- James (8/5): Weekend stay for a family wedding in the locality. Pub full of character which added to our enjoyment of the weekend. - Exclusive buffet kitchen. Own entry door from outside. Room very quiet given it was a lively pub on a main road. Steep stairs on entry to room
- Ursula (5/5): Did the job - Pub was excellent. Staff were friendly. Lack of proper breakfast facilities was disappointing. Lighting arrangements for the rooms were bizarre. Lack of toiletries
- Mr & mrs Bell (6/5): Halfway stop. - Location, friendly staff, comfortable Bed and room size Very noisy extraction fans in bathrooms that were connected to light switches,so we could hear room next to us and vice versa.Bedroom table lights intermittent.
Very Hot water for shower which my wife couldn't adjust.
Would of preferred a cooked breakfast choice and had to go to a different room for a poor choice of continental breakfast option.
- Jo (10/5): -
- Matt (6/5): Mediocre - Good location for our intended purpose. Good size room, clean bedding Room was in need of decoration, stain on carpet, bathroom was only just clean enough
- SamPhill77 (8/5): -
- rachel (10/5): Good value - Great value for money. Comfortable. Just what you need as a base.
- Susanna (6/5): Disappointing. - I didn't like the breakfast set up.
I hadn't realised I was putting together my own breakfast....! If I am paying for bed and breakfast
I thought that meant I wasn't going to
put it together myself. There was no
real coffee, no fresh fruit/ orange juice...
No where to eat it ..
The bath water was tepid!
Only one bedside light.
- Dylan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Stuart (3/5): Not as advertised - The hosts were lovely, and easy to get on with. It advertised a cooked breakfast, with pictures and even on their website it offers a cooked breakfast, yet we paid for a cooked breakfast and we were told we just had cereal, toast and hot drinks. The coffee jar was empty, so obviously nothing was checked on a regular basis, what facilities needed to be topped up.
Also the rooms are in need to be renovated, as the bathroom had mould everywhere, old hair in the sink plug, only a lamp to put on in a big room, so not enough light available.
You could clearly feel the gap between the two mattresses, as no mattress topper was used to stop the two single mattresses from moving.
Also the carpet was dirty.
- Kerri (1/5): Stay elsewhere - The room was clean and bedding was nice. I have been double charged for my stay. I got charged via Booking and on site. There has been no response from the Hotel after numerous attempts. This is a pub and the 2 guest rooms are an afterthought. Steep stairs up to the room and the windows open just a crack so no airflow. I do not recommend a stay here.
- David (1/5): We couldn’t access the room due to the external door being lock when we arrived at 12:30 am and had to drive home - Looked nice what I saw of it We couldn’t access the room due to the external door being lock when we got to the room at 12:30 am
- Richard (5/5): Loved the location and friendliness of the owners the room was large and on the whole acceptable - Location was perfect village pub itself great. Room could have been cleaner , bathroom sink waste needed clearing water slow to run away. On arrival told live music would be on until midnight in our room it was not quiet until well after midnight and my wife had a very disturbed night as a result.
- Jennifer (6/5): Really good room and location but the owner needs to pay attention to detail. - The b and b room was a good room with really good en-suite bathroom and in good location. Easy to access after the pub was closed. As it’s in a self contained building next door. The venue did not respond to my correspondence on either booking.com or email in the lead up to staying. Getting through on the phone was tricky.
It said breakfast was included. But this was a facility at the end of the 3 rooms to make your own drinks, cereal or toast. The lights in the bedroom weren’t working. The bathroom light was so we used this.
- Julie (7/5): Good - Clean and comfortable. Breakfast was diy in shared kitchen but was adequate stairs up were very steep not suitable for elderly or disabled unless there was a lift
- Mark (8/5): The perfect location for a wedding we were attending nearby…….we’d definitely stay there again. - Excellent location and the accommodation was actually separate from the pub…..and the room was amazing from the size of the room, big bed and the finer details such as the bath towel shaped in the form of a swan……
- Christopher (10/5): Exceptional -
- Katya (8/5): - I would say having more switches in the room would be good. One side of the bed din't have an appropriate switch at all... there was only one table lamp for the entire room. One of the lamps was plugged into a faulty plug and the bulb blew. The shower water was way too hot and I couldn't tone it down. Generally a bit noisy but to be expected in the Inn.
- Dace (9/5): We liked both the room and the pub. Friendly. - Vibe
- Peter (7/5): Good -
- Matthew (10/5): - Helpful checkin , nice room and decent shower , great value
- Debbie (10/5): Fantastic in every way with a friendly dog and a beautiful garden - The staff and facilities were excellent
The self catering kitchen instead of having a kettle with tea and coffee with biscuits in your room you have a fantastic kitchen with fridge and cooker microwave tea and coffee sugar mike a toaster bread butter and a selection of preservatives including marmite cereals the staff and the housekeeping could not be more friendly or do everything in their power to help you it was like you had known them for years and the local residents of the community were fantastic and made you feel part of the community
- Catherine (6/5): Pleasant -
- Pamela (8/5): Very good -
- Matthew (5/5): Could do better! - Bed was enormous and comfortable. Room is very large and quiet. Main light didn't work, no shampoo, breakfast options were very meagre
- Margaret (6/5): Fairly good. - The location was good for our purposes, the staff was pleasant and helpful. The room was a good size and the bed was large and comfy. The breakfast was described as 'Contintental' But there was no bread rolls, no ham, no cheese, no yogurts, no muesli. Only instant coffee (no Decaff). No staff so the guest had to assemble own breakfast from what was available- bread, butter, jams, packets of cereal (corn flakes etc) milk and oranges.
Insufficient light in the bathroom to apply makeup! Mirror in the bedroom was so high it was almost useless. It needs to be repositioned so one can see the whole figure.
- Judy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Daniel (7/5): Good - Pub downstairs, good atmosphere, nice room, with private bathroom and a seperate shared kitchen area to help yourself and go. Karaoke night, so was afraid of the noise going on and not being able to sleep, but done by 11 to 11.30 ish? And slept well.
Just in case someone has to be asleep early for an early start, give them a call.
- Mark (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dan (10/5): Exceptional - Comfortable, clean angle everything needed
- Jeremy (7/5): Good -
- Bernard (8/5): Very good -
- Tristan (8/5): Very good -
- Caroline (2/5): Disappointed - Very basic breakfast, literally only cereal and toast. The lights didn’t work and we ended up sitting in the dark with the bathroom light on
- Penny (6/5): - The room was a good size but unserviced. The breakfast advertised was poor. The en suite could have done with upgrading. There was no non slip mat in the bath/shower. The landlady was helpful and pleasant but the lack of chef when we arrived was disappointing as we chose to stay in the pub to enjoy in dining
- Christopher (10/5): Exceptional -
- Smith (9/5): Superb -
- Tanya (5/5): Passable - 1 night No full length mirror
- George (7/5): Good - Friendly staff, big room good location Had to ask for coffee as there was none, could do with upgrading the bedroom lights as no ceiling or wall lights just one bedside lamp. Outside door lock does not work
- Jordan (1/5): Shut out - Arrived 9pm to check in, and the pub was shut, with a sign outside saying - closed due to drainage problems.
Booking had been accepted but no notification regarding shut down was received prior, either by the seven stars or booking.com leaving us in a difficult position.
- Ann (8/5): The venue was suitable for our 1 night stay - Very comfortable room Basic self catered breakfast
- Simon (9/5): Superb -
- Pip (10/5): Perfect and would definitely stay again - What a great find! Perfect location for our needs and onward journey. The staff were super helpful and so easy attached to the pub with a lovely meal there too. The room was so comfortable with a well stocked kitchen along corridor to help ourselves to breakfast. So convenient with two small supermarkets just along the road
- Jhoana (2/5): Not as advertised. Stay if you dont want to rest because of the noise in the pub. - room and toilet is clean it says breakfast is included. i was expecting for cooked breakfast but there's none. the guy that checked us in says it was stipulated in the website but it was not. there were no toiletries either as stated that body soap, shampoo and conditioner will be provided. when we asked one of d staff for wifi, we were shown a site where we have to pay.
it was also not mentioned here that it was on top of a pub which is understandably noisy.
- Mark (10/5): - Fantastic staff and lovely spacious room.
Great for parking and location.
- Lisa (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lesley (3/5): I wouldn’t recommend this place definitely not good value no service whatsoever - Nothing much really there were nice towels and a comfortable bed . The breakfast was dreadful just sugar full cereals and cut bread no fruit other than sour apples no yogurt only instant coffee nothing healthy. No information about anything from the over busy bar staff I had to wait until they had time to show me to my room between bar customers nothing in the room about WiFi codes or local facilities. No tea making facilities in the room you had to leave your room and walk down the hall to a shared very basic kitchen which had no pans to prepare anything hot not even a tea towel. On leaving there was no one around to give the key to.So not at all welcoming or friendly and an unlocked all night side door that led to the rooms.
- Jenny (10/5): Amazing staff and a lovely room - Everything the staff are lovely and the room is comfy and cosy. Nothing
- Pauline (8/5): Perfect stopover for a local wedding - Very nice spacious and clean rooms. Easy to find, good car park. Helpful staff breakfast was a bit limited - do it yourself toast and cereal. Not a problem for us as we were going into town for lunch but if you were travelling any distance it wouldn't set you up for the journey
- Stephen (6/5): - Advertised including breakfast but it was limited continental for the price was expecting more.”, the room had four lager cans in the bedside cabinet cupboard left from previous occupiers
- Paul (9/5): Superb -
- Sam (8/5): Very good -
- David (5/5): Questionable admin. - The pub attached, which I believe is under separate ownership, was highly entertaining. Confirmation of this booking clearly stated that pre-payment was not necessary. Why then did I receive a message on the Booking.com system a couple of days before my stay requesting payment in full in order to 'guarantee' my reservation? At first I thought it was a scam but in the end decided it more cockup than scam. Paid in full on departure.
- Dan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Coyle (8/5): Very good -
- Christopher (9/5): Superb -
- Jenny (10/5): Cozy and comfortable - Staff were lovely, room was immaculate and lovely little village. Nothing
- Jeremy (6/5): Adequate - Own private entry Not enough lighting (only one working table lamp)
Poor breakfast provision and bread 3 days old. Not replenished daily
Poor attention to detail
- Lisa (10/5): - Lovely little place. Nice and clean with a comfortable bed. We had a meal in the bar on the evening and the food was delicious.
Just note that breakfast is help yourself in the shared kitchen and not a cooked breakfast. There is cereal and bread to choose from with a selection of jams.
- Stephanie (8/5): Very good - Spacious room. Friendly staff, Pillows were uncomfortable , breakfast was toast, cereal, serve yourself. Pub meals!!?? When the chef turns up??
- Chloe (10/5): Beautiful country pub with very welcoming staff and comfortable accommodation - The staff were really warm and lovely and the room was really spacious and comfortable. We really enjoyed the the pub and wish we’d had more time to spend there throughout our stay.
- Gemma-Anne (10/5): - People were lovely room was great. Loved the little kitchen in the shared area had a few option which was great for my child and I.
- Jackie (8/5): It was comfortable and clean for a one night stay, breakfast was a little minimal - The people were friendly and it was clean
- Graham (10/5): Exceptional - The room was lovely. Comfortable bed.The staff were excellent. The food and drink were excellent too. Nothing.
- Sue (10/5): Very welcome staff and excellent customer service - Everything was excellent
- Karl (10/5): Exceptional - Everything was exceptional, particularly the breakfast.
- Janet (9/5): Superb -
- John (7/5): Better than we expected. Comfy and clean. - Room was not ready and did not like the check in part, in front of people drinking in the bar. Room was not ready at 4.30 pm? Room did not have a light but was rectified straight away. Breakfast ok.
- Lewis (7/5): Good -
- Dan (10/5): Fantastic stay, staff are fantastic, food is great and the room is comfortable. - The room was clean and comfortable, the staff were friendly and happy to help with anything. If I had to put anything it would be that theTV needs moving off the side wall. potentially put it on the bathroom wall facing the bed.
The curtains need putting up in the hallway outside the rooms.
- Kelly (10/5): Exceptional -
