Guest Reviews
- Lesley (8/5): Good faciities and location - Location ideal for wedding venue opposite
Breakfast good staff friendly No milk left in room so couldnt have a drink of tea or coffee, no bottle of water for drinking,, traffic busy as my room faced the road, everything else great x
- Sarah (10/5): Beautiful - Really comfortable and clean
- Lucy (6/5): Not bad - Staff weee lovely breakfast was nice. Rooms looked great Walls are paper thin we were up until 4am listening to the couple next door talking.
- Colin (9/5): -
- Jenny (10/5): Lovely room , great bar area and breakfast was exceptional -
- salim (1/5): Terrible - Good location, comfortable clean rooms Staff particularly the chef who asked if we could come to breakfast later and also announced very loudly that my card had been declined, when actually I paid with the same card and the problem was with the system they have . We were turned away from an evening meal because there was a staff party but the website did not state this . On another occasion we were given a ground floor room than it was taken away from us later , we had to find alternative accommodation as my partner had just had a hip replacement and couldn’t go up a staircase
- Luke (10/5): -
- nicola (7/5): -
- les (8/5): Great place ..... just out of town.. and some great walks near by - Great selection of cooked breakfasts
- Sharon (10/5): Stay over whilst moving home - Location was great for us
The staff were fantastic, really lovely and helpful
Thanks for making our stay so nice Nothing

- Corbett (9/5): - The food was amazing. If only to help the hotel I would install better sound reducing windows.
- Tanya (8/5): Will be back! - Great experience as always, clean and great service. Pub food tasty. Love the breakfast hamper, the BLT was delicious! I forgot to ask for the radiator to be switched on, it took an age to warm the room on such a cold evening! Only hit 18c by 7am the next morning
- Louise (10/5): - The staff were so friendly and helpful the food was fantastic. The bedroom floor was dirty
- john (9/5): -
- Aaron (10/5): Amazing - We didn't get the managers name, but she was fantastic, very friendly and helpful and was an absolute hero for us on very short notice after we had a last minute accommodation cancellation elsewhere.
- Rachel (8/5): Not as good as the previous times we have stayed. - Bedrooms away from the pub.
Food is good and great value for money. Went in to eat at 6pm but the restaurant was not serving food due to a staff party. There was no notice of this change from the advertised times.
We had booked room 1 but this room had not been cleaned so we were placed in room 2. Room 2 is excellent but wanted to try a different room.
- Abigail (7/5): Lovely pub, okay for a short stay. - The pub and staff. The room was a little small for the price, although the bed was soft and everything was clean. The bathroom is a reasonable size (although we only needed to sleep here, the shower looked spacious). The little necessities, toothbrush/razor. Breakfast was included and the staff kindly made us sandwiches to go. We would stay again if we needed to. We've eaten here a few times and will definitely be back for meals. The room was very small, the chair squished into the corner on one side isn't necessary. Thin walls and windows, we could hear everything, from traffic outside (we expected this due to location so no real issue) to other guests coming in and out, doors banging at 00:45am. The ladybugs in the bathroom, on the toilet, walls and mirror. No milk for tea/coffee seen.
- Julie (8/5): - Breakfast was great. Staff were excellent.
The room was lovely- just slightly noisy in the morning due to road traffic, but still a lovely place fit an overnight stay.
- Rachel (9/5): Very enjoyable with staff who made you feel welcome - Bedrooms separate from the pub Nothing
- David (9/5): Excellent accommodation, lovely rooms, good food, will be back in the future. - Wonderful find, food very good, lovely rooms, would happily stay again. Nothing to fault.

- Molly (10/5): A perfect stay - please can we come back?! - Brilliant location for what we needed! Friendly staff that were so eager to help. Rooms were absolutely gorgeous and plenty of lovely facilities to use. We definitely want to return to eat at the pub! There’s nothing to dislike!
- Jan (7/5): Very good apart from the room was a bit cold. A box of tissues would have been appreciated. - Location and facilities Room was a bit cold.

- Rachel (9/5): Fantastic stay, great location for Sandhole Oak barn. Very friendly staff, good clean rooms with com - Great location, clean and comfortable bed. Breakfast was wonderful-great choices and very friendly staff. The toilet flush needs addressing as water kept dripping. The only disappointing thing was the delivery lorry/draymen reversing at 7am with sound - very noisy and woke everybody up.
- Thomas (10/5): -
- Gary (8/5): -
- Bernadette (10/5): Loved it start to finish - Everything, setting, the room was lovely and clean, lovely view, breakfast was fab too Nothing
- Potts (8/5): - Great location, pretty views, very comfy beds and wonderful shower. The main reason we stayed here was due to being dog friendly. Would definitely recommend and would stay again. Would have preferred breakfast to have started a bit earlier, but only because we wanted to get away early.

- IVOR (10/5): - Friendly staff. Comfortable bed. Excellent wet room. Ideal for my disabled husband. Top quality cooked breakfast included in the price. Very good parking. We hope to return soon. Nothing.
- Avril (5/5): -
- Sally (10/5): Excellent stay in a beautiful location with great staff, cosy rooms, comfy beds and a great breakfast - Pretty location, very nice rooms, really comfy beds, terrific showers and lovely bathroom products Close to the road so would have been nice a room on a higher floor away from the road
- Jessica (10/5): -
- Zoe (9/5): An overnight which was comfortable and convenient. Very friendly, helpful staff. - Clean and welcoming. Easy location for where we needed to be. Nothing it was all lovely!
- Jennifer (2/5): -
- Kirsty (10/5): Great place to stay, comfortable and friendly staff - Country vibes, loved the decor! Bed was so comfortable.
Great location for us being at a wedding across the road! Short walk way Nothing it was great
- Alan (10/5): - The decor and condition are excellent. The staff and food amazing. If i had to say anything the road noise can be loud during rush hour times
- Gary (8/5): - Great breakfast advertised as continental, but you get a choice, including cooked food. The room was small. And I have stayed at better accommodation for a similar price. Location is good if you are attending a wedding at the Sandhole Barn, but other than that, there isn't anything else in the area.
- Olivia (9/5): Superb -
- Pete (10/5): Exceptional - The staff were really friendly, the room was freshly renovated, clean and comfortable.
Breakfast was fantastic too
- Annette (9/5): Superb -
- Mary (10/5): Exceptional -

- John (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jemma (10/5): Relaxing escape from the hustle and bustle of life - The staff were amazing, from prior to arrival, engaging with a surprise for me set up by my partner, and checking us in they were amazing. The room is beautifully laid out, very clean and amenities are all top end. The pub has amazing food and in a beautiful location. Could not find faults
- Richard (9/5): Superb -
- Vincent (8/5): Really comfortable and friendly. - Clean and comfortable. Nice friendly staff and great breakfast. Bar shut early 10pm
- William (10/5): Exceptional - The staff where lovely and very welcoming. The bed was super comfy and great shower .
- Janet (9/5): Superb -
- Julian (6/5): Confortable, good value accommodation with good food choice. - Price was good. Pretty good plant-based menu options at the pub. Had some shirts I needed to iron but no iron in the room. The road outside can get quite busy, so during summer time warmth with the window open a bit at night you can find yourself waking up early.
- Glenn (8/5): Very good -
- Stephen (9/5): Superb - The bed was comfortable and the breakfast is very good. The road was a bit noisy
- Barbara (9/5): Great location for staying for a wedding - The location was ideal for attending a wedding. The room was as I had booked, accessible. Breakfast was very nice, good variety on the menu. The Waggon and Horses is on a busy road and the cars can be heard through the night.
- Jackie (10/5): Exceptional -
- David (9/5): Very pleasant stay. - The separate 6 room accommodation block with it's own car park.
A large open pub serving excellent food at a reasonable price.
It has a large beer garden at the rear with well kept lawns serving as a children's play area bathroom may be considered cramped for some people.
- D (9/5): Superb -
- Steve (8/5): Very good -
- Steve (9/5): Superb -
- Dawn (8/5): Very comfortable - Rooms were beautiful, spacious and had all amenities.
- Stella (9/5): Good location and we had a delicious meal in the pub. - Very comfortable and cozy stay. The continental breakfast was delivered in a picnic basket the night before but when I opened it in the morning there were lots of ants in the basket.
- Kevin (5/5): Passable -
- Mark (9/5): Superb -
- Maguire (5/5): Passable -
- Hannah (6/5): Pleasant -
- Kim (10/5): Excellent hotel, would definitely stay again - Location was great for attending a wedding at a local venue. Staff were so welcoming, Kate waited on our table at breakfast and was so friendly. The pub and the rooms are at a high standard, we will be travelling back to have a meal. The beds were very comfortable, slept like a log
- Lee (10/5): Exceptional - Best sleep I've had in years
- Roshine (1/5): Awful room, unhelpful management - Inside the pub is nice Unable to sleep, even with ear plugs due to the road noise. The door for the room was onto the main road and it may as well have been open.
The towel rail wasn't secure - it was dangling out of the wall. The bathroom was smelly too.
The owners/staff didn't respond to me when I've let them know there were issues.
- Mark (10/5): Will definitely be recommending this venue to my family and friends - Every thing! The staff are very friendly and customer focused. Breakfast was ample and very thoughtful placed in the room so that we could eat it at our leisure.
Our dog’s needs were given the same amount of attention as our own. She was given a water bowl and a bed! I can’t think of anything
- Chloe (9/5): Superb -
- Michelle (10/5): Fabulous - highly recommend the Wagon & Horses for business or short breaks - Food was excellent both breakfast and evening meal. Room was beautifully decorated and well stocked. Venue was ideal for us as close to where we were working, but also good for anyone wanting to do any walks as the hotel also provides a map of local walks around the place. No milk in the room despite there being a fridge and nothing to tell us if we had to ask for it.
- Stephenjm3557 (10/5): Excellent hotel - Food. Rooms. Beds. Staff. Nothing
- Will (8/5): Very good -
- Thompson (9/5): Superb -
- Lee (10/5): Exceptional -
- Christina (4/5): Country vibes for deep sleepers - Nice country style decor, seperate accomodation to the pub, clean & tidy, food is good, staff are really nice, breakfast is so cute in a little wicker hamper or wooden crate (I love that, nice touch) You hear everything. From the cars going past (it is on a busy a road), to the people in the next rooms having a shower, or what the room above is watching on TV. You'll hear it.
- Simon (8/5): Enjoyable - Warm cosy and great staff, with good food. Accommodation area not good ! Clean just very basic and tired.
- Martyn (8/5): A lovely pub with fantastic food, views, friendly staff plus ample parking. - Absolutely stunning property with lovely views far and wide. Great friendly staff and the annex to the side of the pub gave it the privacy required. No full English breakfast on offer.
- Philpott (9/5): Superb -
- Graham (9/5): I have never stayed anywhere better for the price. Worth every penny. - Room was very well presented, clean and cosy. Staff were very helpful, allowing a late checkout so we could go to the restaurant, food was lovely and all for a very reasonable price. Overall was an excellent experience and would stay again.
- Sophie (8/5): Very comfortable and great value for money - Very comfortable and done to a nice spec. Pub also looked very cosy although we didn’t get a chance to try it. Staff accommodating and friendly. Proximity to road. Breakfast quite unhealthy with huge cakes and only one box of cereal (however they did have alternative milks)
- Iain (10/5): Would go again - Location to the event Breakfast basket - not greeat
- Georgina (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sarah (10/5): Newly refurbished, with a great team of polite friendly and helpful staff - The staff could not do enough Nothing
- Hill (8/5): Very good -
- Glover (9/5): Superb - Lovely room. Amazing staff
We did a quick check-in as we were in the middle of a wedding. Super friendly staff !
Breakfast in the room, including fresh milk , orange juice, tea ,coffee, and hot chocolate!
The only downside was we were right next to the door and stairs so we could hear everyone as they came in and out.
Definitely will come back !
- Grace (6/5): Lovely room but absolutely freezing - The room was really clean and well equipped There was no heating so the room was absolutely freezing. Tried to work out how to put the heating on but it seemed as though it was controlled centrally through central heating- no radiator on and it was a cold winter's day.
- Stephenjm3557 (10/5): Exceptional - Staff were great. Helpful, friendly and professional.
Rooms lovely and comfortable. Great food in the restaurant. Nothing
- Dawn (10/5): Great - Nice and clean
Booked all rooms for work colleagues abs even other joined us for dinner Toilet seats need adjustment
- David (8/5): Very good -
