- Iain Graham (8/5): - Good hotel. Older building meaning inside is small but you would expect that.
- Paul (7/5): - Location was very convenient for our weekends activities The room was very small and a little cramped

- Deborah (8/5): We had a very happy stay at the start of our holiday in the Lake District. - Staff all very cheerful and helpful. Bathroom very good, clean and modern. Very good food. Room was a bit basic with no chair.

- Eugene (8/5): Highly recommend - Great location. Room was lovely. Excellent food in restaurant.
- Andrew (6/5): Really great staff, no soundproofing in our room. - Really friendly staff, food was good. Nice hot shower bar prices werent too bad. Ned was comfortable. The room i was in was Nutkin, there was no soumd proofing whatsoever. We could here every word, every movement of the people adjacent to us, this meant a pppr night sleep. Tv is to small for the room.
- Marsha Baldwin (9/5): Lovely place x - Gilpin Bridge Inn was in a good location. The staff were lovely, friendly, and helpful.Rooms were nicely decorated and comfortable. We would recommend to all our friends and family. The shower head didn't work well.
- Caroline (9/5): Friendly, lovely little inn in a very central area. - The room was lovely, clean tidy and very nice with everything we could need. With the inn being very central to a lot. There was plenty of parking, a outdoor play area and signs saying dogs were welcome.( We didn't take a dog so I'm not sure if they can stay in the rooms)
The staff were very friendly and helpful.
The bar area is cosy with three bar areas where drinks can be ordered. (Restaurant, quieter seating drinks only and pool/games area) It has everything you could need with drinks priced well.
We didn't eat there so can't rate the food, other than breakfast. Which was a continental choice, cereals, individually wrapped pastries ( store bought) toast, porridge pots, hot drinks, fresh fruit juice and fruit. Nothing was bad or complaint worthy, for the value it was amazing.
The only thing I think lacks is information on where to check in, slightly confusing when you first walk in as check in is at one of the bars.
A full English breakfast was advertised on the back of the room door with the information when in fact these are no longer catered for. So this could do with being charged to prevent disappointment.
We had a nice view from the room, however it was a family room so parents should check the view first. ( we ended up looking and catching a couple been intimate stood up in the hot tub of the camping huts at the back 😳 not at all the Gilpins issue but was a shocker to see on our first look out.)

- Alfie (10/5): Very friendly staff, clean room and a place to have a pint! - Very easy to find and it’s in a great location if you are wanting to explore the lakes. Had a complimentary breakfast of cereals, toast, croissants, pain au chocalats with juices and hot drinks. It was lovely just to wake up and just pop downstairs and have some toast. Staff said if we didn’t want to eat in the morning, we could take some of the pre-packaged snacks with us. Bedroom was clean, shower was great and fresh towels. Staff were lovely. We had a drink in the pub on both nights and played pool and darts. Pool was 50p a game! The menu catered for gluten free too. We never ate there, but from what I saw, they looked like good quality home cooked meals. Great price! Would highly recommend and would stay again! Not much at all really! One of the sockets in the wall was broken, but that’s the only thing I can think of.
- Dániel (7/5): - Good location, clean rooms. The window seal would benefit from a little upgrade.
The breakfast options were a biz limited.
- TERRY (9/5): -
- Jonathon (9/5): Warm and cosy Cumbrian Inn. - Great room, clean and comfortable. Bathroom spacious and had everything you need. Staff very nice and helpful. Easy access to Kendal, Windermere etc. Continental breakfast was included in the price.
- Adam (10/5): -
- Charlotte (9/5): -
- Angelo (8/5): -
- Amanda (9/5): Fantastic stay, we will return - The staff are very welcoming, the food in the restaurant was Delicious. We liked the decor of the room. Very comfortable bed. The continental breakfast was well thought out and a nice surprise. The walls are thin so can hear other guests which woke us up. However this would not prevent us from booking again
- Louise (10/5): Great Overnighter - The staff were brilliant. We managed to get a free upgrade to a bigger room. One minor, we were too full after dinner and wanted to take a pudding upstairs. I understand why we couldn't and this would be nit picking.
- Steven (9/5): -
- Emma (10/5): -
- Kelly (9/5): - Staff were friendly and attentive, rooms were clean, comfortable and most importantly warm. Food was well priced and delicious
- cyrille (8/5): - Very clean
Pleasant smiley staff The bed was very soft so not the most comfortable
- Gwendoline (9/5): -
- Melling (7/5): - The food and atmosphere in the evening was great. The breakfast was awful. Very little choice and meagre amounts.
- Paul (9/5): - Perfect quiet hideaway with good clean rooms and decent beer
- Emma (8/5): Good value for money and lovely staff - Staff were great, comfortable bed and good entertainment Breakfast set up
- Amy (10/5): Warm immaculate clean - Immaculate, clean, warm friendly super comfy bed, lovely large bath towels
- Wander55247935321 (10/5): Food - Fantastic country pub with an unbelievable beef roast dinner. The staff are lovely, service is incredibly fast, good selection of drinks and vast menu- spoilt for choice! We’ll definitely be going back🙌🏼
- Michelle (10/5): - Staff very friendly, and the cleanest hotel we have ever stayed in, and roast beef Sunday dinner was the best I’ve ever tasted, good location easy to get to highly recommended Nothing I didn’t like
- Philip (10/5): Relaxing. After a long drive from way down south. - Friendly helpfull staff, all in a place that had a nice country pub atmosphere, with an excellent restaurant.
- Kath (10/5): - It was a very enjoyable stay. The food at dinner was lovely and staff friendly. The room was warm and cosy and there was plenty of tea, coffee and milk provided. The shower room was small but lovely and shower was warm and powerful. The television was very small and the breakfast was quite sparse. It was advertised at continental and it was help yourself. We did go down a bit late and they were closing the following day for 2 weeks so understandable.
- Derek (8/5): -
- Lynsey (10/5): - Very comfortable stay, room was decorated lovely. Very comfortable bed, lovely and clean and great staff!
Loved the Luke Combs prints throughout
- Amelia (10/5): Out of this word! - Everything. From the moment we stepped through the door. The staff were lovely. And the lady who had her trial shift in the restaurant that evening... Was fabulous! She went above and beyond for us.
The room was absolutely outstanding and was of a brilliant standard. Food? To die for! This was such a good find and will be coming back! We stayed in The Shire and as soon as we walked in we gasped! It was gorgeous. The bed was so comfy too, and after staying in the highlands for 5 days... Was lovely. I don't think I could rate this hotel highly enough. Best hotel stop me and my partner have ever had! Pillows… that was the only thing and it was such a minor thing, they were a little lifeless and flat. But the bed was so comfy it cancelled out the pillows
- Kath (9/5): Thoroughly enjoyable - Included breakfast was quite limited but adeqquate for my needs. I liked the fact that juice, yoghurt and milk were kept in the refridgerator for customer use.
Staff were extremely hard working, well organised, friendly and helpful.
there was a good supply of teabags, milk etc in the room. A hairdryer in the bedroom would have been helpful
- Sarah (7/5): Great for a one night stay after a long day of walking. - The people were fantastic, every member of staff kind, welcoming and helpful. The food at dinner was excellent, and good sized portions. The bed was extremely comfortable and the room clean (recently refurbished?) with thoughtful touches like squirrel mugs to match the Nutkin room. I didn't sleep well because there was a very bright white light on outside all night long, shining around the edges of the curtains so the room was never dark. Walls thin enough that I could clearly hear a guest in the room across the corridor snoring a lot!
Breakfast disappointing, especially after such an excellent dinner. All the pastries (cheap Aldi/Lidl) individually wrapped in plastic, cheap yogurts full of sweetener (surely there are good local yogurts or Greek yoghurt). Jam similarly in plastic, very pale and insipid. I have no doubt that if we had paid for a cooked breakfast, it would have been superb but the continental (included in the price of the room) was disappointing.
The rooms lacked anywhere to put things - no wardrobe (just three coat hangers on hooks) or chest of drawers. No chair, just a small stool. No hair dryer. Nowhere in the bathroom to put toiletry bag except on the toilet cistern.
- Tayla (8/5): -
- Chiew Kim (5/5): -
- Rucha (7/5): - The overall rustic look was good.. theme was harmonious Breakfast was included and said was continental. Very basic food provided, nothing hot or savoury.
Extra charge for hot breakfast which wasn’t mentioned on website while booking.
- Marian (8/5): We had a lovely stay, good location and staff very friendly and welcoming. - The breakfast was OK, although a little bit more variety would have been nice, ie marmite and peanut butter or even cheese.
- Robin (8/5): - Staff were very welcoming and the hotel was clean.
- Stuart (9/5): -
- Laura (8/5): Was a last minute booking, stayed as we had a funeral the next day and needed to be in the area. Great value for money! - Great location, Bathroom was modern. Offered continental Breakfast The hallway to the bedrooms was very run down, hole in the wall and looked a bit rough. Rooms inside were cute though.
Didn’t have an iron and ironing board on-site.
- Abigail (9/5): -
- derek (10/5): - Excellent location and friendly staff, room comfortable.Parking is always a bonus.Continental breakfast very good.Beer great. Evening meal was dissapointing, nothing to do with the staff but quality was poor and expensive for what was served.
- Tracey (8/5): - Tell people that if they go out to there cars in the mornings they cannot get back in as the doors are locked tell / them in advance the night before.
- toni (6/5): - Overall the stay was lovely rooms good value for money that we paid. Staff were lovely and standard continental breakfast. Hotel was out of the way of everything.
Food prices ridiculous for the standard.
- Dawid (10/5): - The room was very clean, cozy, and full of character. For the price we paid, it was absolutely worth it — great value for money. The atmosphere was lovely, and the staff were extremely kind and welcoming. Everything was really at a high standard. We truly enjoyed our stay.
- Judith (10/5): -
- Laura (3/5): Won’t be going back again - The bed was comfortable, room was warm No storage at all in the room, very small room. Only storage was hangers on a rail against the wall that you can’t actually hang anything on. Bedroom window looked out onto the roof, which was the owners private patio. People and dogs outside window all the time so couldn’t open curtains. Very thin walls and creaky building so could hear all conversations and woken up through the night multiple times. Sink taps too far back so can’t wash hands properly, shower had very bad pressure
- Volodymyr (10/5): Дуже гарне помешкання, рекомендуємо. - Дуже чисто та затишно . Відсутність фена у номері.
- Thomas Mark (9/5): Warm comfortable friendly place. - The Continental breakfast is a much appreciated inclusion in the stay.
- Rebecca (10/5): -
- Dunga (9/5): -
- Aleks (9/5): -
- Harvey (8/5): Our Scottish trip! - Lovely hotel . Good location for us. Staff very friendly and helpful.
Room clean nice shower.
Continental breakfast was nice. Just the traffic was quite noisy and started early. But we do sleep with our window open
- Vanya D (10/5): Excellent from start to finish, will be back - Highly recommend! Everything about the place and staff was excellentand I do travel a lot and stay at many places! The staff are extremely helpful and nice, room was perfect and very clean,, bed was super comfy, dinner at the restaurant and the breakfast were great, location is perfect, cant recommend enough and will 100% choose to stay again when travelling through. N/A everything was perfect
- Shaun (10/5): Great value for money - The location was handy for work, the room was lovely with great views and all the staff were very welcoming
- Euan (9/5): -
- Terry (8/5): -
- Robert (7/5): -
- Nikki (9/5): Really lovely stay with good food, Debbie was so nice, will definitely go back in the future - Lovely location, cosy atmosphere, friendly staff & good food Maybe the only critique would be that we could hear other guests conversations in other rooms late at night. But didn’t go on all night so not too bad. (Thin walls)
- Johnson (10/5): -
- John (10/5): -
- Sandra (8/5): Welcoming, friendly and Great Value - The staff were ALL incredibly helpful and friendly, giving that personal touch that was so greatly appreciated as a solo female guest. No shelf in the bathroom, no dressing table, no fridge.
- Chris (3/5): Not happy - Breakfast disgraceful..prepacked rubbish.. Everything
- NDAVICUS (9/5): Great pub, restaurant & hotel... management DebbieScot were really good and staff very friendly - This hotel is a pub restaurant... and brings all the benefits that brings... cosy fireside in the bar, good food in the restaurant.
Most of all the pub management and staff were very accommodating and helpful during my weekend stay. nothing to dislike
- Jay (2/5): Staff are great, food is awesome the stay was horrendous - The location was great, the food is fantastic. I stopped here a few weeks ago with my wife while visiting the lakes and had an awesome roast dinner. When I found they did rooms and I new I was coming back up I really wanted to stay here. There was overnight road works at the front of the hotel and I should have been made aware.
The walls of the room are so thin you can hear the room next door talking, in my case that night a domestic.
The bottle bins are collected at 0530 in the morning waking you up with smashing bottles.
Either the staff at the end of the night or guest smoking before bed outside my window in the smoking ally kept me awake till nearly midnight.
- Stephen (3/5): Bedroom and breakfast room like ice boxes - Staff were all very pleasant. Nice fire in bar area It was incredibly cold in the bedroom and breakfast room. We pointed this out to staff and were advised that the heating was not on all the time. Our bedroom was very cold and most of the time the radiators were not even lukewarm. The same applied in the breakfast room at 6.30 even though breakfast was available from 6am. And the outside temperature was about 4 so no excuse for not having the heating on.
- JOHN (8/5): -
- Strictly Lisa (7/5): A comfortable place to stay with friendly helpful staff. - A comfortable room with the essentials. Staff were very friendly and the evening meal in the pub was fabulous. It was the perfect overnight stop for us on our journey north.
- Mhari (10/5): Lovely room. Great stay. Friendly staff. Value for money fabulous - Modern and clean. Tremendous value for money and great food. Breakfast was simple but still great value overall
- Bart (9/5): -
- Robert (8/5): Great stay - Room was comfortable and clean and food was excellent in the evening. Could have done with a chest of drawer or wardrobe with drawers in the room.
- Vic (4/5): Great staff but rooms need modernisation & a rethink of breakfast. - The staff were very friendly and helpful.
The food from menu in restaurant was exceptional. The room was very basic, very small bathroom, no wardrobe just a variety of hangers on a wall rack. No hairdryer. Minute TV far from bed. Broken remote control. Had to ask for heating to be turned on, it went off after an hour.
Breakfast room was cold and still decorated from the night before party - which was extremely noisy whilst trying to sleep.
- 461colettew (2/5): Will not be back - Well I am absolutely mortified, we always come here and have lovely food and love the staff. Tonight we celebrated my partners birthday to be leaving angry and disappointed. We had the pizza, it wasn't very nice, the base was undercooked and tasted doughy, the cheese smelt really sweaty and could smell it. Only had 1 slice, the waitress was lovely and asked what was wrong with it. We explained, they charged us and when we said we didn't eat the pizza we then had to go explain ourselfs to the manager and head chef at the other end of the bar, the attitude was shocking, got so affended. We explained if you don't eat a meal you shouldn't be charged. We are both in hospitality so see this alot. I would not dream of speaking to the customer like that and still charge them for a meal they did not eat. This was so disrespectful and that fact I felt bad for actually complaining to be treat like that at the end. We spend alot of money when we come here and will not be back to spend money. I suggest you don't think your perfect and accept complaints from time to time ftom your guests.
- Chris Cheetham (9/5): -
- paul (10/5): - Friendly staff & good value for money.
Solamente: gracias.
- Agnes (9/5): We had a very pleasant and comfortable over night stay. - Cooked breakfast was a little expensive, wasn't keen on the sausage or microwaved mushrooms, would have liked a poached egg, instead of fried egg. Buffet breakfast included with the price of the room was very reasonable with a good selesction of fruit and cereals, No shelf in bathroom to put items nor peg on back of door.
