Guest Reviews
- Marion (10/5): - Everything was great, but the Davenport didn’t open up
- SharMar (1/5): Not the best but I made due. A little uncomfortable for my family. - breakfast was good. My Family really enjoyed it. Amazing. I booked my vacation over a month ago and I booked a 2-bed 2-bathroom to only get a two bed one bathroom. And the third party I booked with tried the whole 2 days my family an I was there to get me a fully refunded stay, but the manager was unreachable. Overall experience, after going every single year to see my elderly father was horrible, Do not want to return to this particular hotel.
- Don (10/5): - Very nice rooms
- Sandra (10/5): Great Experience! - The employees were nice, the room was so clean and comfortable. I was impressed with the size of the accessible room for 2 queen beds. My aunt said the beds being lower to the ground helped her a lot with her knees. She’s had surgery on both knees and we were in town for a doctor’s appointment for her.
- Alan (8/5): - Everything from checking in to checking out was easy.
- erin (2/5): - Bed was awful. Couldnt control the temp.
- Troy (8/5): - Na
- Aydalou (10/5): - Was really comfortable
- Ryan (6/5): - The rooms were very noisy. The air conditioning was loud and I could hear everything everyone was saying in the hallway, outside and upstairs above. It was spacious and clean but I couldn’t sleep. I think the upstairs room checked out at six and a maid started cleaning at that time. It sounded like someone was throwing around oranges or potatoes or something Very loud
- Erin (9/5): Superb -
- Lauren (10/5): - I had an almost stellar stay the two nights I was there. The only thing was that the coffee maker still had old ground packs in it that I had to throw out. Other than that, it was great!
- Charlene (10/5): - The breakfast was amazing. And the breakfast attendant I did not get her name was very, very friendly. We enjoyed our stay even though it was sad circumstances for the visit.
- Marvinna (10/5): Fantastic as Always - Fantastic stay!! TownePlace always has ckean rooms, comfy beds, good breakfast. All the rhings you expect from a Marriott property!!
- Curiosity49143960441 (2/5): Very poor experience - This place has rapidly deteriorated into motel status. This property is not worthy of the Marriott name. But this seems to be the norm at most Marriott properties these days. I am a Platinum Member of Bonvoy Marriott and travel quite a bit. I've been loyal to Marriott, but the more I travel, the more I'm noticing the deteriorating service level, cleanliness, maintenance, and just overall experience at all Marriott properties. From 5 star properties to 2 star properties, they all have issues. Please see the images and ask yourself if this is in any way acceptable. All of the images were taken upon entering the room. In addition, the heat was malfunctioning, and my stay was during polar vortex temperatures. The staff had no solutions. They all seemed lost. They moved me to a different room, but that room also had malfunctioning heat. It's a shame what Marriott has become.
- Sandra (10/5): - We really like the pool at this property. The guest rooms are large and comfortably.
- Shane (8/5): - Good place to stay,
- Larry (9/5): Superb -
- Ron (10/5): - This place was very clean and nice with a good breakfast
- Janet (10/5): - Very spacious
- Charlene (7/5): Good - There were no gluten free options for breakfast. Bananas were the only option for me. In todays world, all diets need to be considered.
- Amanda (10/5): Exceptional - Great all around! Quiet! Nothing!
- Sharmar (7/5): Good -
- David (10/5): - Great value for a night
- Howard (8/5): - We really enjoyed the spacious rooms - suites really. The breakfast options were pretty good too. The city of Aberdeen was in a "boil alert", so using tap water was unsafe. This made for a rough weekend for the hotel staff, but they were very helpful through it. My only complaint is that the pool was closed for maintenance, and we weren't notified when we booked the rooms.
- Jen (8/5): - Need more ice machines. Parking lot needs repair.
- Debra (10/5): Exceptional - Breakfast was very good, variety of items of choose from. Beds were very comfortable.
- Michelle (10/5): - Staff are friendly and helpful, breakfast was amazing, rooms are superb. This was my second stay at this hotel...still feel the staff go above and beyond and will continue to stay at this hotel when in Aberdeen.
- Stephanie (9/5): Superb -
- Jeremy (10/5): Aberdeen by morning - Nice place to spend a weekend in Aberdeen
- Roger Cindy (10/5): - It was very nice
- Danyal (10/5): Will stay again - Great pace for our kids pool was clean and nice. Love the kitchen option as well
- Nancy (8/5): Our stay - It was for the most part good. The only complaint I have is that the heating/cooling was very noisy. It came on every couple minutes. We could not control it. Finally shut it off. Didn’t sleep hardly at all the first night. Other than that it was good
- Gail (7/5): Check it out in person next time not book online - The kitchen area and separate bedrooms, dining rooms, soap in bathtub areas, the front desk people were very nice I reached out to the main manager twice about a bereavement discount never contacted us back even asked the day before we left still no answer from her.unprofessional plus our room wasn’t what I ordered two bathrooms only got one it delayed us from getting to our destination/wake and funeral on time .our living room view was the garbage dumpsters
- Robb (10/5): Outstanding people and amenities - Hot tub, Weber grill, hot breakfast
Done with Airbnb’s in Aberdeen after staying here
- Jeremy (6/5): - Had dirty sheets left in a dresser from prevous guest and cold showers two days.
- Edward E (8/5): - We had a very good night stay. We were able to get coffee and some toiletries that we needed, the staff were very friendly and accommodating. Thanks
- Susan (8/5): - Clean but basic
- Maggie (10/5): - Super great stay from check in until departure! Front desk staff was very kind, clean rooms, great hot breakfast and a pool/hot tub perfect for families! We will absolutely stay in the 1 bedroom suite again. It was obvious our room was recently updated.
- james (10/5): - Easy to get to
- Aaron (9/5): My family had a very pleasant stay at the TownePlace Suites in Aberdeen. - Our room and the hotel in general were tidy with modern furnishings. Staff was friendly, informative, and attentive. I felt like the overall cost per night was higher than it should have been. The parking lot could stand to have the parking lines repainted.
- Chad (10/5): - Clean, spacious, good breakfast
- High (10/5): awesome and adventurous - the room made me feel like I was home not much to report
- Raymond (8/5): - The rooms are great. The kitchen with basic dishes and full size refrigerator is very helpful. Being able to spread everyone around with 2 bedrooms is wonderful.
The biggest problem was that the washing machine I used did a terrible job spinning clothes. Then one of the two dryers didn't heat at all. Laundry machines are a nice amenity, but better when they work properly.
- Arthurs (1/5): Bad -
- sandid (8/5): Clean hotel - This was a very clean hotel. Service and checkin were great. The walls and floor seem very thin and could hear those above us and noise from the hallway.
All the rooms were sold the weekend we stayed but the place seemed pretty empty and I suspect they don’t have staff to service all the rooms.
It seems Marriott has replaced individual bottles of shampoo etc with refillable bottles in the shower. While I applaud the effort at sustainability, the bottles can be opened by anyone and anything placed inside. Totally not cool with me.
- jessica (10/5): - Amazing
- Companion44479743179 (10/5): Will Stay Here Every Time - Really Nice place to stay. Friendly Staff. Good location next to restaurants and shopping. Suite w kitchen, office, couch, bedroom very good layout. Very clean and everything is being maintained. Basic exercise room, but fine. Very much enjoyed the stay and will return.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Happy with choice - Very clean hotel with good services.
- Michael (2/5): - I have stayed at MANY Marriott hotels, and more hotels that I can count- and I've never had to ask the front staff for new bedding. When I moved the pillows, there was clearly EAR WAX and a couple of pieces of hair next to it. The sheets were DISGUSTING and the bed was fully made! Whoever was in charge of cleaning obviously CHOSE not to change the bedding, only make the bed. This lazy, extremely non hygienic way of doing things- cost a poor review and potentially a customer. My husband did however get a sincere apology from one of the staff, she did not make excuses. She did seem to be truly upset by the situation and she said that she herself examined the sheets and could clearly see how disgusting they were. We did appreciate the apology, but we probably won't be staying in this hotel again.
- Julie (2/5): Moldy bathroom - The bathroom had hair and mold in it. The guests in the floor above were loud and the hotel did nothing to fix it.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - I would never recommend this property to even Jeffery Epstein
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The hotel was clean and orderly, and the staff was friendly and fast with service. We enjoyed how our room was larger than we were expecting, though that might be because of the location within the hotel (3rd floor, above the pool). Even with being above the pool, it was pretty quiet, though sometimes we could hear echoes. So the room was well-insulated.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Not happy they charged me $30 for "incidentals" they have not returned.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The room types are great. The room we booked had 2 bedrooms so everyone could spread out.
The problem was the cleanliness. The furnished dishes and silverware were not clean. There was a pair of pants under one of the beds that wasn't from our group.
- dapjasp (10/5): Perfect hotel for family - We stayed over a weekend for work but brought our whole family - great hotel. Rooms were nice and updated. We stayed in a king studio and very nice, spacious, and bathroom was large (big enough to fit a pack n play for my fellow families traveling with kids.) Pool was great for the kids and the staff were very accommodating! Will stay here again.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Surface was new... however, older plumbing (sinks) with newer countertops. They should have replaced the sinks too. AC in living room blew nothing but cold air. Staff did not wear masks. COVID is running ramped in SD.
- Lynn (10/5): Super! - This was a great place. Super clean and very comfortable. Staff was very friendly and nice.
- Robbin (10/5): - Loved the fact the hotel was so quiet and comfortable. Just what we were looking for
- Michael (10/5): Very nice amenities - Amazing room. Very nice amenities
- Jen (10/5): - Very clean hotel. Rooms are clean. Staff are friendly. Very pleased. I will definitely stay here again. Loved it!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Quick stay but beautiful room. I loved relaxing in the cozy bed!
- MrGaucho1987 (6/5): Good Hotel But Not Aberdeen's Finest - We enjoyed the TownePlace but it would not be our first choice. The hotel lobby is fine. We found the building floor carpets to be a bit old and soiled which was a disappointment. The service staff was very helpful and friendly. They failed to clean our room on the second day for some reason, but that happens from time to time. The room was well appointed and comfortable. The breakfast buffet was fine but not as appetizing as the Hampton Inn. We stayed one night at the Hampton Inn in town and two nights here. We preferred the Hampton for about the same price. Do not get me wrong, this hotel is just fine, but there are better options.
- lwood65 (10/5): Awesome - We really enjoyed our stay. Everything was just as we hoped it would be. Our suite was spacious, comfortable and very clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The interaction between staff members was very positive and upbeat. A very pleasant environment.
- Chestersdrivers (10/5): Great place to stay - The Suites are a wonderful place, very clean rooms, excellent and helpful staff. The breakfast had a lot of variety. And they are very furry family friendly too!
We will be back to stay on our next visit!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The room was HUGE and very clean, the beds were comfy and the staff was friendly. The pool area was very nice, the only con was the pool area was out of towels. I cant rate their breakfast as we didn't eat there. I would stay here again.
- Shenan (4/5): - It's hard to believe this is a Marriott property. I've stayed at multiple Marriott brand hotels this year due to all the travel I do for work. I had to move rooms 3 times due to cleanliness. The first room had the most musty mold smell, hair in the tub, and the plates in the cabinet still had food stuck to them. The smell alone was giving me the worst headache. The second room had bugs crawling across the kitchen floor when I walked in and mold growing in the shower. The third room was fine with the exception of the outlets in the kitchen not functioning. Needless to say I felt like I was staying at an overpriced Motel 6. I will not stay here again as the property seems to be falling apart faster than they can keep up.
- Stephanie (10/5): Aberdeen - The hotel was great, the pool area was "old" feeling.
- Julie (8/5): Good night stay. - Nice hotel and room. Wish the pool had hand rails on the first part to get in. I am not bad enough for the chair to get into the pool, but I need something to hold on to since I am unsteady. Hot tub was great. Kids had fun in the pool. Eggs were a little dry at breakfast. Would definitely stay there again. Love the little kitchen in our suite.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Too much noise for neighbors of closest rooms
Cant sleep
- UpperWestSiderGuy (6/5): One bedroom suite with Lobby breakfast not bad could be better - Stayed here while visiting family. Lobby breakfast with friendly attendant, House keeping was slow to clean our suite, one day it hadn't been done by 3 p.m., I had to call 2 days in a row to get housekeeping to our room,, even then just towel exchange and no sheets change and no cleaning at all. Exercise room had good cardio machines and some free weights and towels the basics but good if you need. I would think the owners / managers would be more aware of dirty and stained hallway carpeting, it doesnt take much to steam clean and spot clean the carpeting in front of the elevators in lobby and 2nd and 3rd floor, was very dirty looking and looked terrible.
- Joel (10/5): Great stay, little details make the difference - Great hotel.
We had a suite with a kitchenette and 2 bedrooms. We were surprised to see that the kitchenette was stocked with cooking utensils and dinnerwear.
The beds were great, and the overall stay was wonderfull.
- David (10/5): Nice! - This is an excellent motel. Clean and modern. Pet friendly too.
- kheinrich84 (6/5): Ok stay - We have stayed here before and it was super nice. This hotel isnt that old and already showing wear and tear. We stayed in a 2 room suite. It had plenty of room. But furniture in living room could use some updating. As always the pool area is super hot! But it is decent. Prices are fair. Bed wasnt super comfortable, but not the worst either. I would stay there again.
- Julie (8/5): - This hotel itself was fine but seriously need new beds. Most uncomfortable bed and pullout we have ever had at a hotel. The sofa pullout was like sleeping on springs and the king bed wasnt much better. We hurt for days. The free breakfast was exceptional and the lady making it was so accommodating. The pool is very nice and the common areas of the hotel are well kept. Our Son, his wife and kids live in Aberdeen. We love this hotel and the location but please please get some new beds!!!
- Daniel (10/5): - The room was excellent, the breakfast convenient and good, the staff very friendly.
We would definitely stay there again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Just wish that there was scramble eggs during breakfast. But at least you have a waffle maker which some hotels are not doing and I like waffles. Otherwise, everything was good.
- Linda (10/5): Great Hotel in Aberdeen - Starbucks and Ruby Tuesday across the street....food and drinks for sale on-site at mini-mart. Dog friendly.
- Kteepentravels (10/5): Concert at NSU - Great hotel - newly renovated with great customer service! Spacious rooms with separate bathroom, bedroom and kitchen. Room was ready for me early and staff was very kind. I’d happily stay here again!
- 568jazminef (10/5): Very friendly - I am from Omaha, Nebraska and had stayed here for one night in December of 2017 while visiting family for Christmas. They have very nice staff. The room was just like being at home and very clean. I would recommend for others to stay.
- shasta (8/5): 4 stars - Hotel was amazing. Aberdeen not so much. Town looks to be run down but at no fault of the hotel obviously
- SylviaF603 (10/5): Great Room, Great Hotel - Room was huge, with fridge, stove, microwave, dishwasher..etc. Like being at home..and the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast in the morning was Great...loved this hotel, will stay here on our next trip to Aberdeen. And it is located across the street from the Mall.
- Lorie (4/5): - The room was filthy. There was 1/2" of dust on the arms of the couch. The shower had mold in it. The flooring was dirty.
- Lana (8/5): Would stay again... - Hotel was really nice.
It was comfortable and the price was right.
- Linda (6/5): - The staff was very friendly and accommodating when we requested a later check-out and we are so appreciative. We did have to call back regarding a left item and the follow-up was insufficient and not as promised. We are Marriott Gold Rewards members and were disappointed in the very hard, squeaky and uncomfortable beds. I couldn't sleep in the normal bed and pulled out the sleeper sofa just to give it a try, but that mattress was stained and dirty. The couches and chairs were worn and the carpet was stained. We know that Marriott properties, especially on the lower end, can be variable so I can't say we were surprised....but definitely disappointed.
- Caitlin (10/5): Luxury in Aberdeen, SD - I was pleasantly surprised by the luxury feeling to my suite at TownePlace Suites in Aberdeen, South Dakota. The hotel is only a block off the main drag so it was easy to find and easy to go elsewhere from. The room was wonderful - lovely to look at and a huge amount of storage space. The bed was comfortable and the inside curtains really blocked the light. The shower was HUGE and the towels were very soft.
- BreZee09 (8/5): Very good hotel, my first choice in town - This is my go-to hotel in Aberdeen. It is clean and I always know what to expect. They have many breakfast options, they have a nice exercise room and I always feel comfortable staying here. The turn into the hotel is a bit hard to find as it's not obvious where you need to go, but I would will always look here first for future stays.
- Brandon (10/5): Loved it! - We stayed one night and it was a great hotel. Staff was very friendly. Rooms were nice and spacious and clean. Would definitely stay again
- Lisa (8/5): LOVED our stay!!! Hope to come back! - We had a VERY nice time! The room was spacious and very accommodating- more like a mini-apartment than a hotel room. The bed was very comfortable, and large enough for both kids to cuddle with us as they fell asleep. Also, our two kids- 3 years and under a year- LOVED the pool! My husband and I really liked how the shallow/ kiddie end started at just a couple inches, just enough water for our three-year-old to laugh and splash while one of us stood nearby. Thank you!
- julie (8/5): - We were in Aberdeen for a family visit. Lovely town. Hotel was clean and comfortable. Everyone friendly, nice and helpful. Pool was perfect for cooling off at end of the day.
- lbs533 (2/5): ms - Stayed at this hotel last night (August 8, 2018). The furniture was very dirty and there was a cobweb in the corner of the living room with 4 dead bugs in it. When we pulled the blankets back to go to bed, a bug ran across the sheet, we lifted the mattress and there were two bugs under it, and after laying down for about 15 minutes, I had a bug on my hand. The hotel was full so we couldn't move. This was an "upgraded" room (by the way), so we moved to the other bedroom. It was not a restful night of sleep. The manager was not in this morning (of course) and we still haven't gotten a call (4:38 in the afternoon).
- DW (10/5): - Great Location and very clean property. The rooms were very nice.
- Wiscmo (6/5): Good Hotel - Not Great - We stayed at the TownePlace Suites last weekend. We were in Aberdeen for a family wedding.
My husband travels a ton and is an Elite Club member so we stay exclusively in Marriott Hotels when we travel.
We stayed here several years ago when they first opened and it was pristine.
Now, however, we noticed that a couple of areas of the hotel aren't kept up to what we believe are Marriott standards.
For Example: Hallways were dirty. Lots of spots on the carpet and marks on the walls. There was mold in the shower. The kitchen cabinet handles were sticky.
Again - not horrible but not great.
What was great is the GREAT service we received from Jeanette. What a gem she is. We had several family members staying at this hotel and had time in between the wedding and reception to socialize. She went out of her way to help us: Ensured us that we could utilize the dining area... brought us extra cups and offered a cutting board. She even tried to move us to a meeting room - except it was being used for storage at the time. Jeanette was super friendly and we saw her several times throughout our stay. I'd absolutely give Jeanette 5 stars!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Breakfast staff - The woman in charge of breakfast was welcoming and very helpful.
- TeaWithLori (8/5): Great Hotel in Aberdeen! - Big room, very clean, friendly staff. Decent breakfast selections. Close to restaurants so our group could walk to dinner. The common space TV remote didn't work but I was too lazy to call and simply watched TV in the bedroom. That is the only negative but can't blame the hotel. Would stay again when traveling to Aberdeen.
- jeromeo259 (6/5): good room, bathroom needed help - I stayed 1 night, the hotel is in a good location, the bed was comfortable, spacious, the bathroom needed a bit more cleaning with some mold along the tub, breakfast was ok, waffles and sausage patties
- Roadtrippin (8/5): - Hotel grounds and lobby were very well kept and clean. Having the option of the suites is awesome. After a long day of traveling it’s nice for the kids and adults to each have their own space. Bathroom was spacious and immaculate, great shower. Bed was comfortable. Pull out sofa mattress wouldn’t be at all comfortable for an adult but was just fine for our young kids. Carpet in rooms and hallways were stained and frayed and definitely need to be replaced. But for the price there’s really nothing to complain about. Included hot breakfast was a nice touch. After this experience we will certainly look for other Town Suites when traveling.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very pleasant greeting, room and overall facility was above expectations. A+++
- Ryan (10/5): Quick Trip - I had a quick business visit in Aberdeen, SD. It was a great to have a the flexibility the Town Suites was able to provide. I do appreciate the women at the front desk helping me through the online booking issues at the time. I wish is caught her name to give the shout out to for the 4/4/18 night I was there.
- Bette (10/5): - Great trip. Came to watch our nephew play hockey for the Aberdeen Wings! The room was clean, comfortable and easy access to mall, food.
- Gloria (10/5): Wonderful Accommodations - Hotel staff was very welcoming, helpful, and friendly. There was a great breakfast bar and it was close to the mall and numerous restaurants. I've stayed at other hotels in the area, it was a great place to stay, and i will stay here again next time I'm in the area.
