Guest Reviews
- Sean (10/5): Loved this place - Our favourite stay of the salkantay trek (and that is saying something because we loved all our stops). Staff were so helpful with organising taxis and recommending food spots. Our room was also fantastic, coming with a balcony that gave an unreal view. Highlight of the show is Ukuku, the most friendly dog on the planet. Would 100% recommend staying here in the middle of your Salkantay trek

- Dammers (10/5): - Very friendly staff and beautifull accomodations along a white water river. No place to put your clothing.
- Anna (9/5): Connection with nature - Best option when in Santa Teresa! Nice bar, big rooms and the feeling of the river Noisy when someone stays on top of your room.
- Chris (10/5): Amazing Thank you - Everything

Accedieron a peticiones especiales.
- jean-philippe (8/5): Good for a night - Far from the crowd Having to choose the breakfast the previous evening.
The noise with ongoing work on the riverbank
- Vitali (10/5): - Excellent service, food, location. Indeed a very comfortable stay. Special thanks to Wilder, Sambrano and the Lodge management for their kind support.
- tamar (1/5): Don’t fall for the ranking, it’s a terrible place! - The potential is there, the rooms are beautiful , some of the with huge beds. Breakfast was good. They had filtered water The location is absolutely terrible. It is on a construction site, and we were only informed about it the night before arrival when they suggested that we bring earplugs. There is also a terrible noise from cicadas all over Santa Teresa, but it is especially loud and disturbing at this hotel. The sound stops only at night, and if you are lucky, you might not hear the construction noise.
To get to our room, we had to walk through hundreds of giant cicadas, which was an awful experience. Once inside, we found many bugs in the room. Fortunately, there was a mosquito net, but we could not use the light because it attracted even more insects.
The shower did not have hot water, and when we spoke to the staff the next morning, since no one was available at night, he came to check the shower. It suddenly worked for a moment, but he clearly did not care about the issue. The toilet could only be flushed once every fifteen minutes, and again, the staff showed no concern. When he left, we checked the shower again, and there was still no hot water.
Overall, it was a very disappointing experience, and we could not relax or enjoy our stay.
- sami (10/5): -
- kyle (10/5): 10/10 - This property is truly one of a kind. From the start our experience was personalized and meaningful. The owner has an incredibly creative mind and passion for the environment. Also don’t miss out on the Andean sauna experience, it was like nothing we have ever experienced before.
- Rafael (10/5): -
- Valenzuela Velarde (8/5): -
- Claudia (10/5): Muy buena experiencia!!
Totalmente recomendado
- Laszlo (9/5): Authentic local experience in the Andes - Built on the hilltop, nicely fitted/surrounded by the vegetation.
Nice views onto the surrounding mountains, river.
Santa Teresa is a small authentic town, without disturbing reates of tourist presense. We could not find the place on first try, even our driver got lost.
It's on a hilltop, and can be accessed via a narrow steep path, what was not marked clearly.
- Vittorio (8/5): Lovely eco hotel stay - The views when waking up were incredible. Will never forget it Not the hotel’s fault but there wasn’t much to do in the town, just one restaurant.
- Sungnam (6/5): Pleasant - Did not get Hot water. Had to wait an hour at night only to be in a shower as Hot water came on and off.
Hot tub they proudly advertise was out of order.
- Alice (9/5): Superb -
- Thomas (9/5): Superb -
- Laura (10/5): Exceptional - Surrounded by stunning nature and tranquility.
Comfortable, rustic accommodations that blend seamlessly with the cloud forest setting. The attention to detail of the decor in our room was superb.
Fresh breakfast served in a relaxed, communal atmosphere.
Warm, attentive staff who go out of their way to make you feel welcome - even when we booked late on the day of arrival which was great.
Excellent value for the unique experience and beautiful location.
A perfect retreat for nature lovers seeking sustainable comfort in the Sacred Valley. Staff asked if we would leave a review and there was a bit of a feeling of 'do it now please'. Minor, but could be improved - asking once and getting a willing "yes" is enough.
- Guru (1/5): Staff stole our money - Location Fantastic location and a tranquil place. However, we had a very disappointing experience as staff stole our money from the bag kept in the room which was locked. We went to visit Cocalmayo hot springs for which staff helped book a tuktuk and when we returned the money was gone. I would recommend the owner to look at replacing the staff before this becomes a repeated affair and the image of this lodge is tarnished.
- Gábor (9/5): Superb - Ukuku the Rottweiler 🥰 The toilet sometimes not working properly.
- Krishan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sobhani (9/5): It was comfortable, beautiful and the staff was so friendly! - I loved how it feels like you are in a tree house, the room over looked the river and we could hear it as we went to sleep. It has some beautiful hang out areas as well. There was no hot water in the showers but we were hot from the day so it wasn’t so bad!
- Robin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Angela (10/5): Super cute place- great setting, great staff, comfortable and clean rooms! - Super cute place- it's like staying in a treehouse in the jungle! The rooms were clean and comfortable. The staff was nice and helpful and the breakfast was great. The common areas were cute and the view from the top balcony was amazing. I highly recommend if you are staying in Santa Teresa area. Not the lodges fault at all, but the road between Santa Maria and Santa Teresa is fairly sketchy in parts so be prepared. They are currently doing road construction which adds some delays, but hopefully once the road construction is done, the road will be a bit safer to travel.
- Michael (6/5): Pleasant -
- Michaela (9/5): Superb -
- Ashlyn (10/5): A wonderful calming experience :) - Very calming. Delicious breakfast. The best staff! A wonderful place to connect with nature and yourself. Nothing :)
- Markus (10/5): Perfect - It was a great stay between the Salcantay hike ! Everything was fine -shower- breakfast- stuff- all Nothing
- Claudia (10/5): Recomendado - Hermosa vista y tranquilo
- Benjamin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Alessandro (10/5): Exceptional - Peaceful and beautiful locations. Staff always kind, friendly and available.
- Mikayla (10/5): Exceptional - A perfect place to stay after days of trekking. The breakfast was delicious and the room was clean and comfortable. The staff are unbelievably friendly and willing to help. Would definitely stay again!
- Camila (10/5): Perfect place to stay, wonderful value for money and even better hosts. Can’t wait to come back!! - Ruth and Wilder were just great and made us feel incredibly welcome and cared for! Beautiful lodge, a little oasis of calm and peace. Perfect after a busy day visiting Machu Pichu and a very welcome breath of fresh air compared to the very touristy Aguas Calientes. Santa Teresa is under construction, so you have a bit of that around but the lodge makes you forget all about it!
- Max (10/5): Would recommend - The staff were very accommodating, the hotel was very beautiful. The variety of birds seen during breakfast was incredible it felt like we were in a jungle amongst the trees. The shower was a bit cold one day but quite refreshing.
- Michelle (9/5): Luxury tree house - This property is stunning. It felt like a luxury tree house in the Peruvian mountains. There were many cozy nooks to explore. Our room was beautifully decorated, immaculately clean, hot shower, comfortable bed and beautiful deck overlooking the river below. Was a bit disappointed the restaurant wasn’t open for dinner. However, our breakfast was delicious.
- Liana (10/5): Exceptional - We arrived after a 20km hike and were so tired. Wilder greeted us with such kindness and made himself very available and helpful. He made everything easy for us by offering us tea, helping us order food and organising our taxi for the thermal baths in Cocalmayo. The lodge is beautiful and peaceful. I've traveled a lot and this was my favourite accomodation so far: wish I could give 11/10 ! In the morning after breafkast we hung out in the hammacks and read to the sound of the river. I even saw two baby condors and a hummingbird in this magical place.
- David (10/5): Awesome. Kike runs an excellent operation. - Everything was top notch. The rooms, balconies, common areas, showers, food were all great. Nothing.
- Anna (10/5): Exceptional -
- Andrew (1/5): Bad - I stayed here for a night in February 2024. My partner and I were the only guests. Unfortunately, 100 soles and 50 Australian dollars went missing from our room while we were visiting the town. Concerned about the security of our credit cards which were also in the room, we politely raised the issue with management, whose response was very defensive. We do not like to leave negative reviews and were reluctant to do so even despite our bad experience, however, like clockwork, two weeks later we have today noticed an unauthorised transaction on our card, which we have now had to cancel (very inconvenient when travelling overseas). Unfortunately, I cannot recommend that anyone stays at Ecolodge Quechua.
- Shah (10/5): Exceptional - Everything. The staff and the experience next to the river and amongst the jungle. The treehouse style lodge was brilliant and views were amazing. Nothing
- Anusch (10/5): Awesome healing place. Really nice and supportive hosts. Full of life. Awesome sound of the river. Cozy wooden room -
- Tomascervenka (9/5): Superb -
- Daniel (10/5): Exceptional - Cool, clean, comfy, romantic, friendly. Easy connections.
- Eduarda (1/5): Bad - The hotel is well organized, clean. However, the staff was so ironic and unpolite on chdckin that killed my stay. After 3 hours of a very stressful road, I got to the hotel for checkin.
The guy on the front desk started to ask questions like: what time do you want to have braskfast? I asked him to give me 2 minutes (as I was stressed about the road) and the answer I got was:
"This is not my fault" .... "we have already had problem with Brazilians, if you want to cancel your reservation, feel free, I will give you a ride to the other other" .
To be able to answer his questions about breakfast, I was obliged to decide my time of leaving the city (buying train tickets, thinking about what to do on the day and the next day).
The staff just killed my stay in the city. Very disrespectful guy, judging people from Brazil.
Wifi does not work in the rooms.
The "city" is a hole in the middle of nowhere, the people of the city is really not prepared to receive tourists, weird way of treating tourists... you enter the reataurants, banks, etc ...people do not say "hello" ... very weird and bad energy.
There is nothing to do in the region, except for the Aguas Termales.
For me, it is a waste of time and money to visit this place. Every one is trying to get money out of tourists all the time. I took a taxi and agreed on a price with the driver...in the middle of the road he says: now the price is doubled ! Disrespectful with tourists.
Weird place to go!
- Balaji (4/5): Disappointing - well designed, but less maintained.
breakfast mas o menos 😌 very close to the river so you hear the noise(there are people working on with heavy machine), whole night i coundn't sleep.
No hot water
- Angie (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful, clean, accommodating Nada!
- Gloria (8/5): Pleasant and lovely views. - The service was excellent and the building style very rustic and nice. Maybe the location between two roads
- Abraham (10/5): The property was amazing, the staff was very helpful and the service incredible. - The property has its unique style and surrounded by trees and the river that runs next to the property.
I felt like I was in a treehouse with different amenities extending outside the room. The stairs, but no big deal I expected that because the entire property rises above the ground and the rooms are at even located higher.
Just like everything else I have experienced in Peru is stairs, stairs and more stairs 😉😉😉
- Ariel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Richa (10/5): Treasure Santa Teresa! - What a beautiful little piece of paradise! Nestled in the mountains, away from all, right on the banks of the Urubamba, whose soothing flow you can hear all through the night. The staff are very courteous, letting us check in several hours early and helping us to make arrangements with taxi drivers etc. as we didn't speak much Spanish. There's an awesome, very cute Rottweiler called Ukuku who keeps wanting to play fetch as well:) Loved everything!
- Sandra (1/5): Bad -
- Jalmar (8/5): Very good -
- Peter (3/5): Beware of the dogs! - The furniture of the room and the overall architecture of the place is lovely. The dogs:
I wanted to have dinner but the hotel didn't offfer any, as I was the only guest. The staff then indicated me a restaurant which was 5 minutes away on foot. When I went to the restaurant it was already dark outside, I was directly attacked by the extremely aggressive and big dog of the neighbour of the hotel. I was shocked, sweating, under adrenaline and ran away to the hotel and informed the reception about the situation. They told me to grab a stone against the dog because this would scare it away. In the end I made it and also took my hiking stick to defend myself. I can assure you that it's really stressful not to see from where the animal is attacking as it's pitch black. In my opinion, it's utterly unacceptable that such an expensive hotel doesn't speak to their direct neighbour about their dogs being a threat for their customers and, hence for their business.
The noise:
If you have a room on the side of the river you MUST bring earplugs or be resistant to noise.
The cleanliness:
I had long black hairs in my bed.
The price:
I had to pay 5% more when paying by card and the place was unable to provide me with a bill of my stay.
- Lorelle (9/5): Superb -
- Olgaperez (8/5): Very good - The lighting and cleanliness of the top room need to improve.
- Sarah (9/5): Superb -
