The rooms in the old part of the hotel are slightly dated but still very nice. Check out the photo of the view from my bedroom. Great to have a pool and aircon in the rooms.
eduardo (6/5): - Nice view of bay. However entrace under condtruction. Restaurant hours limited. Staff polite. Bedroom had a few bugs. No hot water since, weather is generally very hot and humid. Walk down to several restaurants but constant flies and bees while eating. Beautiful scenery expect fir tge very poor surroundings. Entrance dirt road poor and ghetto looking area.

Pablo (10/5): - The property has a great view, good facilities, great personal, Excellent food. Everyone and everything was a good experience within the hotel. Only one thing I didn’t like was fact that the lighting on the street at night is not the best on your way back from the bars area. Having in count is the farthest hotel from the restaurants and bars area I will suggest to have that on mind.
dreymatthew (6/5): There were bright spots, but leaves a lot to be desired - First, the good stuff: The views from the room, the restaurant and the pool were stunning. None of the staff spoke English, but they were all very patient with us using Google Translate and were very responsive to our requests, which included pre-ordering breakfast to be ready earlier than traditionally offered due to us having to be at the dive shop each day by 8am. Breakfast was hearty and filling. The staff also carried our two heavy bags up and down several flights of steep stairs, which would have been very difficult for us to do ourselves. Now, the rest of the story. The room is VERY small. The bathroom was tiny, and had NO shelves to put anything on. There is a small closet in the room with a few hangers and shelves, and a TINY table and chairs, and only one tiny nightstand. I ended up needing to use one of the chairs as a nightstand so both my wife and I could have a bottle of water and a place to place our phones at night. Also, there is NO HOT WATER. The sink and shower are FREEZING COLD. Apparently, this is common in hotels in different parts of the world, but I have have only run into this in a remote jungle camp in Belize and a remote diving outpost in Indonesia, NOT in a hotel in town with a restaurant, pool, WiFi, etc. The pool is clean and beautiful, but oddly, also colder than expected, considering how strong the sun is there. There is indeed a large Jacuzzi which could seat at least 8 people and has jets, also COLD (are we detecting a theme here?). Lastly, and I need to state that this is not the hotel’s fault, nor it it anything they can control, but Taganga is LOUD. For reference, I live in New York City so I am not accustomed to silence, but picture multiple establishments blasting music on speakers meant for a stadium-sized concert, concurrently playing their own music, starting around 10am and going ALL. NIGHT. LONG. Considering this hotel is up the mountain a bit and this was all coming from several blocks away, it still felt like I was trying to sleep in the middle of a parade. So if you read, like I did, that Taganga is a chill fishing village, apparently that’s old news. The scuba diving there was great (highly recommend Poseidon Divers!) but it is arguably the LEAST relaxing place I have ever been.
Lance (2/5): - The staff was nice. However, everything else was terrible. The area around the hotel was dirty. Unsafe to walk to the dirty beach. Many stairs to climb to room. Nasty room, bugs, etc. No hot water and posted “Do no drink water”Very loud music from local bar until 5 am, so sleep is not possible. We paid for the week, but left after first night losing all payment in advance. Best experience there was sitting on a large iguana on our 4th floor apartment patio. Went to Marriott and had a great time.
Johanna (10/5): Magestic Taganga - What a nice place. Atop a mountain just gorgeous view. We had a room with a view and it did not disappoint. The hotel is very nice, but they definitely have to do some work on it. For the price we paid it could have been better. The people who work there are impeccable. They cater to your every need. Peaceful and majestic views. Nestled between two mountains in sacred lands this place is magnificent. Things are getting a little dangerous so caution is recommended.
Thomas Lee (10/5): - The hotel is decent, but don't book there unless you're physically able to walk up a lot of stairs. The area is nice, but it's very noisy, that's just the area. That's what it is. Fortunately, the Hotel is above a lot of the noise. The staff is fantastic! Thank you very much for all you did for us. Wasn't impressed with the free breakfast and because of it, we decided not to die in at the hotel. There's a lot of great choices in the area that are easily found. I'd stay there again.
Thomas (8/5): - The staff was awesome! I was a little disappointed with the breakfast that was included in the stay and felt like they should've turned it up a notch. There is a lot of climbing involved, they're on the side of a mountain and do not have an elevator so to enjoy, the pretty view you have to work for it if you are not physically fit enough to do a little stairclimbing I'd recommend you stay away from this facility. The rooms are OK but very basic, no refrigerator, but I was furnished with a cooler and ice at my request . They were very accommodating! They do have a restaurant but because of the disappointing breakfast, we decided to eat elsewhere during the stay, there were many great choices in that area so we were OK having not utilized the restaurant. I would definitely stay there again because it's a very pretty place with a nice pool And a view to die for. Again, the staff were Very accommodating, friendly, and attentive.

However No hot water, don't go near Easter week as local shops blast music at incredible volume all night with no stopping. Service at restaurant/bar was awful waited 40 minutes for a coca cola however chef lady was very nice and food was good when arrived. wind blew all day all night whistling through and under our door dragging dirt under it.
Morinjuli (6/5): Overall, i am happy with my stay but hotel need a few update. Staff is amazing and vuew is outstanding - Staff is wonderfull, friendly and helpful. I felt welcome and safe. The swiming pool and it view is increduble. The food at the restaurant is pretty basic but does the job. The room that we got had an awesome view, but auper noisy over the week end. We had to change room after for one night to make sure we could at least sleep a few hours. Matress needs a little update. Other than that i recomande, it beautiful, close to playa grande beach and Taganga is a little hidden treasure to discover.

Elizabeth (6/5): - There were mouse droppings in the bathroom. They were there every day. The maid never cleaned the room, she would remove the trash but never swept the floor so there was a layer of dirt and sand. The shower had two settings: extremely hot or frigid -- there was no in between. The architecture of the balcony was such that the strong winds sounded like we were staying next to railroad tracks. It is a short walk to the nicer beach (I think the listing said 7 minutes but unless you are sprinting that is not going to happen) but even the less nice beach is still good. No refrigerator or coffee machine so you must be constantly going to the often-closed restaurant for everything.
FarAway159169 (2/5): A collapsed social life of a town with hotels at the style of Hotel California from the Eagles. - A garbage compactor at the entrance of hotel. Roads similar to a war zone. Wind sound in the trees will not allow you to sleep the whole night. Merchants ready to overcharge for their products. Hotel without hot water. Definitely no a good place for vacation. If you find a hotel without a Bible in their night table. You can imagine than no even cult people want to visit there.

Julie (8/5): - The hotel was nice enough. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The food in the restaurant was just so so. We were in Taganga in December and it was very crowded with tourists. Unfortunately, Taganga is very loud. Loud music played in several businesses literally ALL night. Due to the position of the hotel and the fact that sound carries over water, it was very loud in the hotel as well. Also, there were bright glaring lights shining out over the bay and into hotel windows. It is unfortunate that the town of Taganga allows this noise pollution and light pollution to exist. I was expecting a quiet fishing village, and got a loud obnoxious party town.
ELIZABETH (8/5): Alright Place - This place is alright, but next time I would probably stay at the other end of the bay where it is more developed. The first time I arrived I felt like the area to get there is a bit sketchy with people staying outside all night with loud music blasting and roosters going off at all hours of the night (not the hotel's fault). The hotel had great service, a nice view, and a nice pool. The wifi is OK but you couldn't work or commit to anything really important using internet. People weren't lying about cabs not wanting to go up to the top. You get dropped off at a roundabout at the bottom and take a path (not driveable) up to the hotel on the mountain. It's not bad. Every time we left the hotel and came back there were all of these little sort of pill-bugs (potato bugs) that appeared out of the drain. I just got home and am still unclear on whether or not these are bed bugs..but there weren't any in the bed or signs of blood or black eggs or anything. I have never seen bed bugs before so I don't know :/
geoffrey (8/5): BAHIA TAGANGA - This hotel is the premier property in Playa Taganga. Taganga is remote and dirt roads seperate the hotel from paved roads. GPS is a must for navigation to this location and speaking spanish is a plus. Gated parking is off site but just around the corner and a representive will take you there. The cost is about 6 dollars(US) per day and you won't need your car in while in the town. The hotel has a restaurant with great food and cheap beer(Aguila, Club Colombia for $1.50 US approx) and beer in the town was about $1 US, and seafood(including lobster) is plentifuland cheap. The hotel is elevated so there is a steep incline leading to the office and lots of stairs after that. The pool is great and overlooks the cove and the beach town. The hotel staff is great.
Thomas (2/5): Don’t be tempted… - The only nice thing was the view. Difficult to get to. Taxi drivers don’t want to go there, and some said we had no business going there. Food, rooms, etc are overpriced, especially for the area. Internet is almost non-existent. The WiFi comes close to functioning, but it’s connected to something similar to dial up. I got 3mb while hard wired in the reception. If you have access to a local data plan, the best you’ll get in Taganga bay is 3g, if you’re lucky.

LYNDA (8/5): Roof top views of Taganga beach - A high top location with a wonderful view of Taganga beach, family owned, with pleasant staff, but be aware there are no lifts and the steps up and down could be a challenge... we liked it for its Columbian authenticity and Caribbean charm

Other than that, it was wonderful except----- Not good service from hotel for our snorkel trip. Our vendor promised we could use cards, but when we went to pay they did not take cards. We waited to pay the captain with cash for hours, but he never met us. We had to rent mask and snorkel at beach and the snorkels leaked. We have been on snorkel trips worldwide and never put in this position. The company did not have a name.

It is a great location, to be quiet and outside of the hustle and bustle of the streets is great and it's still an easy walk into town. They had construction and some water issues while we were there but it was a still great experience.

Eric (8/5): Solid Budget Hotel with a Great View of Taganga - Very simple room with a great balcony and access to the hotel's beautiful pool and sun deck. The restaurant offered great food and the breakfast was good. The bed's are a bit hard and the room did lack hot water for half of the trip, but it was a good experience overall for the value. The location is terrific.

The hotels has 5 floors and its like a maze, but very poor with signs to find your way. How hard can it be to put up a few signs??? Very noisy hotel. Sounds from draft from the balcony door when closed. Service phone in the hallway rang every 10min with very loud signal that goes straight in the room. Loose debris on the roof moving around when windy creating loud annoying noise when windy. Not really able to relax with all this noise and distractions. These are things that management must be aware of but do not care for making better. Im wondering who is looking after this place, certainly not the manager. Nobody really cares at this establishment. It is like they never thought the thoughts what can we do to make it a better stay for the customer. I rated this hotel at 2, if it was not for the location and the view it would have received a 1. You will find better hotels for cheaper price in Taganga.
Michael (8/5): Nice hotel for Taganga - The hotel was very nice, but be aware of stairs, there is no elevator and the nicer views are on the higher floors. Also, our shower was missing the shower head so it felt like you were using a water hose. The staff were very polite and breakfast was great.

Kerri (8/5): Great view - The staff were all super helpful and friendly. The music at the nearby local bars can get loud on weekends so bring earplugs if you want to sleep with the window open like I do. I wish there was a way to have coffee or tea in the room so I could sit at the window and sip a cup while enjoying the view. But I did not bother to ask if I could have some from the restaurant.
Verified traveler (6/5): Pleasant hotel in a less ideal town - A nice hotel (though insanely loud wind the first night!) with a pretty view and a cool pool. Very helpful staff who went out of their way to arrange things for us. I'd skip Taganga itself, though, and stay in nearby Santa Marta instead, if I were to do it over again.
Not Provided (6/5): - The hotel was Ok for the price, but not great. the room was supposed to be a double bed, but instead it was 2 sinlge beds put together, which was uncofortable because they moved at night while you moved on the bed.

Harrinson (6/5): Great views! not so great service - The view from this hotel is almost breathtaking. We stayed in the 2 floor. For the price of this hotel I would expect a most updated bathroom or at least hot water. Our room had ocean view which was beautiful. I didn't feel safe in the area. You have to walk 5 minutes to get to the hotel in a sketchy sidewalk. My girlfriend was scared at some point we only took the money that we were going to use. The clubs, restaurants, etc are far from the hotel. The hotel is located in a lonely are no other hotels or restaurants around it so It can get weird. The pool was beautiful with the view. The hotel was clean... I was not please with the staff at the reception during the day. the cleaning and breakfast crew were very nice and friendly. The crew from the reception were too young and had no sense of hospitality what so ever, such a shame this hotel has a lot of potential. The lady was talking on the phone about her mom doing i don't know what. They were on Facebook in the computer, I had to really say excuse a couple of times... and when I wanted to book a bus back to Cartagena they young guy pass me the phone to talk to the bus company and book my own bus, thank god we spoke Spanish. Clearly they need to learn the true meaning of hospitality they are the face of the hotel. I asked for towels and he only gave us 1. One towel for 2 adults... Not the service I was expecting for $90 a night.
Verified traveler (6/5): Great view and staff, poor conditions on the hotel - It's Taganga, a beautiful place, but you can't expect much when it comes to quality...so lower your standards, independent of where you stay. Water pump was broken for most of my stay, and once it came back for a few minutes, there was no soap or shampoo in the room. By the time I got that fixed, the water went out again. If you don't mind the little things, you will get a great view, friendly staff and a quick walk to Play Grande at this place.
Anthony (6/5): Hotel right on the bay. Pool view is phenomenon. - Pros: Views. Right on walking trail. Nice staff. Affordable. Cons: Chore to get to and from due to lack of paved roads. Tiny Room and basic working showers. Can hear music from partying town center until past 3AM.
Pantera (4/5): Old small rooms, terrible bathroom, no hot water - Very difficult to arrive, located in a very poor part of Santa Martha, looks like a terrible neighborhood, no parking lot, no elevator, difficult walk to arrive to the beach (Playa grande).
