- Anthony (10/5): Wonderful stay! - Enjoyed everything about our stay at The Columns. A beautiful French Colonial building located well to explore the river front area and restaurants. Comfortable, clean, and the staff team were friendly and helpful! They had excellent suggestions on what to do in Kampot and helped us book all our outbound transportation! Breakfast was the best we’ve had in all our travels and we appreciated their sustainability efforts! Great stay!
- Richard A (9/5): -
- Neil (7/5): A quiet smallish room, quite pricey for Kampot, and a small breakfast menu - Great location, French house conversion . Staff very friendly The attic room was cramped, with the WC , sink and shower built within the original bedroom. Not ideal, minimising the available space. Breakfast choices limited.
- Terence (10/5): Alway the best in every way. - A beautiful French Colonial Shophouse in a quiet old town setting. Always the best service and help in every way. Great balcony terrace for watching the setting sun.
- Wyn (9/5): A lovely hotel which added to the sensevof being on holiday. - The breakfast was excellent. The staff were very helpful and attentive. The toiket did not have a ‘bro dap leang kourt’.
- Karin (10/5): I was supported in everything, travel organisation, local recommendations, special requests. A place with a soul. - Extremely good service
- Sean (9/5): Superb -
- Nicholas (8/5): Very good - An excellent location in the riverside area of Kampot, near to restaurants and bars. Breakfast was lovely too. Nothing to dislike about The Columns.
- Paul (8/5): Perfect little place to stay - Charming and spacious room in a nicely renovated building. Good and central location
- Terence (10/5): Exceptional -
- K (9/5): Beautiful hotel, tasty breakfast, very friendly. - Staff are exceptionally helpful and friendly. We stayed in a double and superior room, as we upgraded for a room with a bigger window. The french style decor is beautiful and finished to a high standard. The beds are comfy. Breakfast is delicious with breads, fruit and home made cakes as a starter. Free water refill to save on plastics. It's on a side road so surprisingly quiet and a good location, a few minutes to the river front and restaurants. The location is a good base for trips eg Botree pepper farm, bokor mountain, but not much to see in the town.
- DAVID (10/5): - The staff at The Columns are extremely nice and helpful. The included breakfast has many nice options and is well-prepared. We had both a double room on the first floor and a balcony room on second floor in our party, and we much preferred the first floor. It’s more spacious, better laid out, and has high ceilings. The second floor is not great for tall people because there are so many low ceilings, and the rooms feel cramped.
- Karyn (10/5): - Very cool to stay in the old French style building. Room had heaps of character and a charming little balcony. Breakfast was awesome. Would definitely stay again.
- Pahnaoudom (10/5): We had a great stay and definitely will be back and stay there again. - Set within a beautiful, vintage French building, the hotel's decor exudes timeless charm. Its central location allows for easy exploration of the city and riverside. The staff, particularly the manager, are both friendly and efficient, enhancing the overall experience with their warm hospitality and helpfulness. Nothing that we don’t like about this hotel , but we think the breakfast could be better than that by giving more options.
- Doherty (10/5): Exceptional - The staff were so friendly. The location was perfect. The breakfast was fresh and delicious. Everything was great.
- Philippa (9/5): Superb -
- Phinbarr (10/5): Gorgeous hotel, great staff, great location. - This small boutique hotel is gorgeous. It consists of 3 French colonial buildings knocked into one. Two stories over the ground floor only. Lovely decor. A huge thank you to the owner for investing in this property and preserving these beautiful historical buildings.
The manager was delightful. Spoke excellent English, was very erudite
& helpful. He gave me a lot of his time and really understands the concept of service with a smile. The other staff were lovely. The bellboy was so so attentive.
Lovely lovely room. Everything I like in a room was there. Great air conditioning and ceiling fan. I got a great night's sleep.
Spotlessly clean.
Highly highly recommended. Breakfast was super tasty but I would have liked it to be a bit bigger. In fairness, I got more super fresh baguette bread and gorgeous fruit when I asked.
- Rémy (9/5): Superb - Perfect breakfast
- Matthias (10/5): Exceptional - We stayed for 3 nights at the Columns and loved every bit of it. The hotel is very centrally located but yet in a quiet street. All restaurants, bars in the center etc are within walking distance. It is safe to walk back to the hotel at night. The hotel covers the area of four historic shop houses which have been renovated with a lot of taste and respect of the historic details. The room we stayed in (Deluxe superior) was very comfortable and again with very nice, tasteful interiors. The owners including all staff were very friendly, providing an excellent level of service and great hospitality. We were helped booking the excursions in the region and finding a driver for our trip back to Phnom Penh. Everything worked out perfectly well. We can recommend the Columns to anybody staying in Kampot.
- Yelena (9/5): very nice boutique hotel - great location, right in the city center, delicious breakfast, cozy room, excellent personnel. we originally planned to stay for 2 days, but extended to 4. We will definitely come back. It would be great to extend the late checkout timing with 50% room payment to 6 pm (currently it is 4 pm).
- Satham (10/5): Most charming - Beautifully and tastefully decorated. Old colonial mixed with new.
- Ellen (8/5): A good location, close to restaurants, excellent staff - Good location, comfortable beds, very nice staff Shower in room made room more hot & humid
- Sarah (6/5): Basic - nice room - They style of the hotel was nice - room was good - bed was comfortable Only 1 person of the staff spoke English, the rest no. I was very unwell during my stay there and couldn't eat anything.
I asked for plain toast (I got 4 slices in a day) when I asked for more they told me they ran out and had to wait till the following day - it was awful - i couldn't leave my room i was so unwell and no food. also no phone in the room so every time you need something you need to go all the way up and down (not great when you can barely move)
- Patrick (10/5): - The building was very clean, and I really liked the architecture, furniture, and decor. The staff were very friendly and helpful. They greeted me by name, which I appreciated. I will definitely stay there again when I go to Kampot.
- Helle (10/5): So Great ❤️ - We enjoyed our stay very much. This hotel is so Beautiful.
The staff was very kind and the breakfast Wonderful.
- Peter (9/5): Tarvie is a wonderful host and we can highly recommend this boutique hotel. Great position in the centre of the old town - beautiful period property that has been thoroughly modernised. Wonderful decor and amenities. nothing
- Rosita (6/5): extremely overpriced and charmless - location oversold in every way. Lacking in atmosphere, no bar, over-priced for what it offered and the extremely uncomfortable experience of the same person who checked me in and who - appeared to be - waiting up every night in the lobby, when I returned, including on my second night after 1am running after me trying to give me my laundry. Please.
also - very disappointed to see plastic bottles of water in the rooms.
- Julia (9/5): Superb -
- Mark (9/5): Superb -
- William (9/5): The room was so small, but wel appointed was well appointees and. I felt like I was in Singapore - Staff and lovation were brilliant. The owner are so kind The room was too hot. You could fry an egg on the balcony. Nees some shady plants. Simple fix.
- Blair (9/5): Superb -
- Ariane (10/5): Exceptional - The columns is a great place to stay in Kampot, the breakfast is delicious and the owners are lovely and super helpful.
- Stephanusius (5/5): Passable - Very nice stuff. Beautiful interior. Too expensive
- Stephanusius (8/5): Stylish hotel with excellent stuff - Very friendly stuff. The interieur has style, same as the building. The breakfast was delicious. In my room I was annoyed by the noise of the water pump for the building. There was o hot water during my 2 days stay. Because of pchum ban hollyday the room was overpriced.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great place to stay, very friendly and helpful staff, good breakfast. They’ve been hard hit by covid but staying open to keep staff on board. Rustic feel to the place and very affordable. Good location in Kampot.
- Bunleng (8/5): Mr. Bunleng Men - Good location. Excellent services.
Very clean and artistically/tastefully well decorated.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - great value and great location. Aircon a little bit weak.
- Franz (8/5): Great Place to stay - The room is nice and clean, aircon works well, bathroom spacious, nice shower cabin with rain shower, good water pressure for nice shower. Staff friendly and very helpful. Location is good as in walking distance to the riverside with all it's restaurants and entertainment places. The only shadow is that there was a water pump or some other drive/motor which kept on making some noise. Otherwise all ok and recommended
- Douglas (10/5): Lovely small hotel, great location - Lovely hotel in a great location near the river and the night market with plenty of restaurants in the area.
Room was nice with a little balcony (room 10) bed was comfortable. Breakfast was served in the restaurant next to the reception and was good.
Staff were very helpful and very friendly which makes for a good atmosphere.
- Tiina (8/5): Pleasant stay - Friendly personell, lovely breakfast, very comfortable and clean room with a small balcony. Plenty of hot water. Near the center of city and restaurants.
- Heather (10/5): Fantastic Place to Stay!! - This hotel is great! It’s small, quaint and charming. Great air conditioner and the most comfortable bed. Breakfast is delicious! But best of all, the staff is super kind and can assist in getting you motorcycles and seeing the city. Loved staying here.
- Michelle (8/5): - I loved parts of this HOTEL, like the kind Breakfast and Cleaning staff, and the location, but did not Love It... as I imagined I would. It had not a single Asian entree listed on the breakfast menu. Why travel all the way to Cambodia to eat American/ Western food??? Three days in to our 6 night stay, I made mention of this, and was offered Ramen noodles with eggs... a lovely addition, but clearly an actual entree of rice or noodles would be welcome. Also, there were no Umbrellas on the tables outside to make them of use. With 34*C temps, you could not sit outside, so all the tables were not usable. Again, staff was lovely, but for the price, I would have hoped for a bit more amenities and ambiance.
- Amelia (10/5): Loved this hotel - staff were amazing! - I was here in Kampot as a volunteer accountant over Christmas as was SO happy I stayed at Columns. Very clean hotel, great buffet breakfast, very trusting staff and room was very secure and safe. Staff were consistabtly very professional and able to help. Everything thing I need assistance on (booking a bus back to Phnom Penh, Airline dramas) they were always willing to help. It was so nice as a solo traveller to easily communicated with them in English and feel extremely safe and secure.
Also done the road are some great restaurants they are on the river and very well priced.
- Siri Nicoline (8/5): Lovely stay - Good location! - Lovely stay, the rooms have a Good size. Breakfast was okay, and service Good. Only minus was the bugs over the bed, including mosqitos. This was Washed away after the first night, Even without us informing anything. Location is also very good! Highly reccommended!
- Richard (10/5): - Classic building on a run down street, great breakfast included.
WiFi is weak and intermittent but the wonderful staff makes the difference.
- Mark (8/5): Boutique Hotel in Center of Historic Kampot - A small boutique hotel. Very nice breakfast. No bar, no restaurant other than bkfst. With antiques rather than trendy decorating. Well located in the historic center of Kampot. Weakish Wifi. No coffee machine or water boiler in room, otherwise tastefully decorated. Kampot is a beautiful low key French colonial looking city. The Columns staff helpfully suggested restaurants.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Disappointing - This is basically a cheap guest house with a fancy veneer. The building is old and worn. The front lobby has minimal and minimally trained staff. The shower had two settings: scalding hot and ice cold. Wifi was spotty. Wouldn't allow for even a one hour extension on check out. Wouldn't call a taxi to take me to train station, told me to go outside and find one myself. There are equivalent and even much better hotels in town for less money.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great design, nice people - Wonderful staff, very nice breakfast, quiet room to the back on the first floor, first room in the attic was very warm.
- Graham (10/5): Tasteful, Comfortable, Convenient. - Comfortable hotel in tastefully restored colonial building in central area of Kampot. Excellent breakfast and lovely efficient staff.
- steven (10/5): Long time repeat visitor. - I have been staying at the Columns for years, and have always had a positive experience. The property is well located - close to the river and town center, but on a quiet street that is virtually silent at night. The staff are all friendly and helpful, as is the owner, Thavy. The breakfast menu is not extensive, but all items are well prepared from fresh ingredients. Rooms are comfortable and quiet, with adequate work space and good wifi. Overall, one of my favourites in southern Cambodia.
- Nadine (10/5): Perfect stay in Kampot - I enjoyed every moment of my stay at “The Columns” and can only recommend this place.
Staff, room, service, breakfast, location,... all perfect!
The staff was also very helpful with organising my tours around Kampot as well as my onward journey.
I’d definitely stay there again!
Thank you for making me feel so special!
- Paula (10/5): Comfortable hotel in great location - Our room at the column was super comfortable with the air con and the ceiling fan a great combo to battle the heat outdoors. The rain head shower was great and the bed the most comfortable of our trip so far. Breakfast was good and the staff were lovely. Only issues were really poor internet which was an issue cause I had to work a little.
- Pam (10/5): Lovely hotel in old Kampot - Stayed 5 nights. Perfect location just back from the river and loads of places to eat nearby. The staff were just lovely and the manager was very helpful (she even gave us some great tips for Phnom Penh).
- Verified traveler (8/5): Decent no frills hotel - Decent no frills hotel in the old town. Close enough to everything without being right in the heart of the action
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Superbe hôtel
- Verified traveler (10/5): Hyggeligt hotel - Dejligt hotel indrettet i gamle butikshuse. God udsigt og fremragende morgenmad. Service i top.
- Bloomy (10/5): A Step Back in Time. - The Columns is a beautifully recreated colonial experience. The rooms are clean, spacious and cool, with a charming ambiance. The staff are friendly and accomodating, yet give you your own space. The breakfast was consistently good especially the fruit option. We would have no hesitation in staying again should we visit Kampot again in the future. Thanks to the staff for making our visit so pleasant.
- Lisa (8/5): I want to keep this a secret, but it's so good. - Just was trying to get some space with my best friend that was visiting. Perfectly quiet, restaurants and river just paces away. Great food at the guest house and they were available for what we wanted yet, gave us the privacy we needed. Didn't do the 6 am housekeeping disturbance, but cleaned while we were away.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Excellent and cute hotel and friendly staff… Not far from several places..
- Verified traveler (10/5): Very nice helpful manager - Great place with a good location just off the river front area. The manager speaks very good English which isn't always the case in the country so communication was nice and comfortable.
- darkstar (8/5): - just fine.
- Johan (8/5): Nice new renovated, with a personal touch - It was a great place, the rooms was clean and nice. The personal was very helpful and friendly.
- Elizabeth (10/5): Nice boutique family run hotel - Stayed here for 3 nights, booked this hotel in a hurry while staying at the Raffles Le Royal in Phonm Penh, must admit I was surprised when I first arrived at the hotel but any doubts I had soon disappeared when I was greeted with a friendly smile and a cool drink.
The hotel is family run, and the young girl that acts as the receptionist speaks good english. Great location, close to the river and restaurants. My room was spacious, clean and the airconditioner was good, TV worked, shower was clean, and provided extra towels when required. I had fun communicating with some of the family members, I requested an iron and the boy came out with a scrubbing brush but it was no sooner corrected, this minor things made my stay even nicer.
The hotel provides breakfast, there are four choices, whilst it limited, it is still very nice, they make beautiful eggs, and the expresso coffee is excellent, if you are like me that likes a good cup of coffee first thing in the morning.
I enjoyed my 3 nights at this hotel and would stay here again.
- Anne&Arild (10/5): Very pleasant - We week very pleased with this hotel. Excellent Valle for money. Will recommend it to whoever visitt Kampot.
- Couple (10/5): Great value for money - It more than met our expextations.
- des (10/5): quality boutique hotel - this lovely hotel does all the expected things one requires of a hotel ,so well. the room had all things guests could need , superb rain shower , dvd , clock , 2 umbrellas , comfy bed and pillows , good air con and fan, cable tv , electric jug and coffee ,and nicely decorated . the staff superb , Thavi , her Mom , the breakfast staff and the bellboy, all deserve a pat on the back for making me feel so welcome . i give this hotel a 10 out of 10 , and would return and stay only at this hotel in Kampot.
- Jos (10/5): best hotel in Cambodia - We just stayed 3 nights in this hotel, we should stay only one but this was the best hotel we stayed in during our 4 week trip in combodia. Great rooms, very friendly staff and a nice breakfast.
- Anna (6/5): perfect location, lovely hotel, but not for us. - We stayed in Columns for two nights. The first night we couldn't sleep because of the sounds from the neighbours upstairs. We told the receptionist the next morning and immediately got another room. That room was a little damp, so we didn't sleep well again the next night. That being said, the staff of this hotel were more than friendly and helpfull. Very lovely people. In this case, it's really about us we think, that the hotel wasn't for us.
- ScoobyDo (8/5): Lovely but pricey - For Kampot, this hotel is pricey at around $50, although it is probably the best hotel in the town. Room is lovely; very clean and very boutique. The staff were great and generally I loved everything about the hotel except the price. If you can book for around $30-$40 you will be satisfied. Remember that if you book on arrival you probably can 'negotiate' the tax, if you know what I mean!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Charming Hotel - Very charming small hotel. Great location. Very friendly helpful owners
- Female (8/5): - The hotel was very clean and was modern, having been renovated. The style was originally a house. My room was a little dark since it faced the back. For a little more moneyI could have had a front facing room. The breakfast was very good. The front desk staff person was helpful in booking my tour.
- Samantha (10/5): - The Columns was a real joy to stay at. Everything was just right and easy.
- Gallagher (10/5): lovely little hotel in Kompot - Very well situated in the city of Kompot, not far from the river. The breakfast was very good. The staff was helpful and friendly. Great place to stay!
